2017 JEEP Renegade

Car keeps stalling while driving. Luckily it hasn’t been while on a highway or going at high rates of speed. Also, when turning sharp corners or curves it says low oil pressure and then goes away. It’s Not time for an oil change nor are there any warning lights. When checking oil it is very low. It shouldn’t burn that much oil although dealership says it’s normal. It’s an Accident waiting to happen..

Driving on the freeway one day and car started to jerk a bit. About 10 minutes later my check engine light came on. Took it to get a reading and got misfire cylinder 1. Changed spark plugs, coil, pcv valve, map censor, oxygen sensor and fuel injector and anything other outside component we could change. Nothing worked, check engine light still on. Took into the dealership and had a diagnostic test done and they told me that it failed the compression test and is an internal problem. Said I would need to get a new engine and quoted me about $5,000 to fix it. I did regular maintenance on my vehicle and regular oil changes. Since I was the second owner and was out of warranty Jeep will not help fix the issue. My mechanic believes that this issue is caused by the excessive oil consumption that is pending and or the electronic intake design.

While driving, my jeep has shut off multiple times. when it comes back on it just says “service power steering” and doesn’t have anything come up when diagnosing.

My car continues to shut off while you're driving down the road.then it won't start for a little bit!

My jeep often times has a jerking motion to it and dealer has no idea why. others have this same problem

Unknown this vehicle shuts off while in drive when it says it needs an oil change or if the oil is low. it doesn't even give you the warning before, it just shuts off while your driving. this has happened to me many times where i've almost been in an accident. most recently today when in my kids school drop off line. it just completely shut.

My grandfather has own he renegade since it came out in 2017. it has had nothing but issues most of which as his granddaughter i had fixed. but the last at least year i've had his vehicle illuminate a check engine light. especially in very wet weather, cold or hot weather. if it's a normal 65-degree days for a few days, it will go off. it's a very intermittent light. that you have to catch. taken to autozone, dealership, etc. it's a p0420 code which is failed catalytic converter. called and spoke to stellantis, mopar customer service multiple times. it's not an issue they refuse to acknowledge. also pricing for a catalytic converter isn't possible. because the only available ones are on back order hard.

The fog lights almost caught fire. the factory bulbs started smoking and i had to unplug them.

Manual trans 1.4l. for approximately the last year, i've gotten an intermittent 'service electric parking brake' message. i never had it looked at, i disconnected the battery and then it would go away. also the car completely stopped turning off from accessory power mode. i couldn't just roll down the windows, i had to crank the car or the power wouldn't turn back off. recently had check engine light with code p0807 'clutch position sensor circuit 1 low' showing. the next day, car was difficult to start. it took several tries pushing the start button and messing with clutch before it would turn over. i took it to a shop (not dealer) and they couldn't find anything or replicate the codes and told me it was a glitch. next day i get the epb light again and used my code reader and it was showing p0807 and abs code c1220-86. so i located said switch and unplugged it, and boom. all the problem codes popped up again and i was able to turn the car off like normal. i removed the sensor and opened the cover on it. the carbon film inside was missing a section. tested with a meter and the sensor lost voltage when sweep arm inside reached the broken spot. this is a problem that could leave you stranded somewhere if you didn't have the tools to reach and jump out this sensor. and of course clutch parts are not covered by warranty. even though this is an obvious factory defect seeing as it's on the inside of a sensor that i couldn't reach without removing the panel under the steering wheel.

Three times now the vehicle has simply died while being driven. no warning lights or sensors; just stopped running. all three times the vehicle had just been started, idled for a couple of minutes, and then died within three minutes of being put in motion on a city street while driving straight ahead at speeds between 15-30 mph.

These are the failures that showed on the panel; 1.- hill start assit not available 2.- dynamic steering torque not available 3.- esc system service 4.- steering column tends to be hard to move

The car decides when it wants to start and start. the car will shut off and lock up while driving and has put me in multiple dangerous situations. the check engine light turns on with the airbag light when it will not start. when it finally decides to start there is no cel on. also, the bottom fog light went out due to faulty design and gasketing.

While driving, my engine stalled and would not restart. i was able to pull off the road and after some time the vehicle reluctantly restarted. this happened twice within 4 days. both times i was descending and decelerating on a street going less than 10 mph. the stall occurred after applying brake and did not respond to gas pedal input. rpms read zero, all electrical and power steering still working.

Transmission seems like its slipping when driving. car jerks forward.. lurging forward.. i had a car that had transmission problems so im aware of how car acts when its transmission problem. also electrical problem. car sound when music is playing jumps from all speakers sound coming out to just one speaker the passenger side speaker in front..

Oil pan is so rusted that it leaks.after doing an oil change the oil pan was seen to be leaking.i would think an oil pan should not be so rusted that big flakes of rust would be falling off.the whole pan is coated in rust. i have a 2008 patriot that has less rust then the 2017. this does not make sense.my jeep dealer said he has seen this and is more common then you would think.is it just a case that jeep is now making cheaper products?

It start to slow down then speed up

My vehicle has suddenly shown warning lights for brake light out, head light out, both turn signals out, running lights out. basically saying all my lights suddenly burnt out. there is a recall on 2017 jeep renegades for the exact problem i’m having but it doesn’t show my vehicle included, it says no unrepaired recalls. they have determined this can cause an accident as the lights are not really out, and so the driver has no idea when the lights actually do go out. this is dangerous

Engine stalled. restarted after fifteen minutes then quickly stalled again. restarted again after thirty minutes (and continued operating as we turned around to return home. we were on the shoulder in heavy traffic on i-70 east of loveland pass in colorado with light trailer in tow, dealer reports it could not reproduce the problem. vehicle was inspected by dealer service department. no symptoms or warning lamps came on prior to stalling. engine temperature gauge was in normal range. fuel level was between quarter and half tank. so, no warning beforehand.

The 2.4 liter tiger shark engine, burns one quart of oil every 1000 miles. mine has only 32800 miles on it. jeep sent me a email telling me about this. it affects 2015 thru 2020 year models with is engine.

It stalls out of no where, if i am pushing on gas to go it just stalls and then when its really hot outside it doesn't even want to start.

The transmission has gone out twice on this vehicle in less than 46000 miles. the second incident almost caused a car accident due to major stalling during highway driving as the transmission started to fail.

While driving jeep will turn off on its own and oil pressure low warning turns on. this is really unsafe since it’s happened twice and on a busy street.

Cooling fan stopped working.

We brought the car for the second appointment to complete the mopar w80 recall which was supposed to be done after 1500 miles from the first service. the tech tj from autonation chrysler, jeep ram in katy texas told me on 07/28/21 that our car was the first car that had come up that was consuming oil and that he thought the engine needed to be replaced. he said the request had been sent to mopar for approval. on 07/29/21 he called and stated that mopar had instructed that since we went 400 miles above the 1500 miles required for the second appointment, that we needed to drive it for another 1500 miles and bring it back. the tech confirmed the engine is consuming oil, we are told we are past 400 miles but asked to go another 1500 miles before the issue is addressed. this places my family and my daughter who drives this car at risk. hope you can help address the situation.

As i excelerate any where between 25-32 mph, the car jerks forward (with a feeling of being hit from behind).

Hatch continues to pop open randomly

The car only has 23k miles and the engine cooling fan has ceased to work. i had to stop on the side of the road for over an hour when i noticed the coolant temperature rising to dangerous levels. jeep issued a recall for this part on renegades but my vin was not included in the recall for some reason even though it was obviously affected.

The cable for the hood latch snapped. this is an issue because if the vehicle breaks down at the side of the road or needs a jump start in a lot etc, the hood will not open. this can cause risk of exposure as well as prolonged stay on the shoulder of the road. mechanic at autonation reported that he has seen this issue with multiple jeep renegades, which is alarming. no lights or indications are made by the vehicle informing owner of the issue.

I have a 2017 jeep renegade. the engine needs to be completely replaced due to faulty manufactured engine. it would randomly turn off or stall, or sometimes engine kept turning and wouldn’t start. the bearings broke off inside the engine and now jeep is trying not to cover it and i can’t get any help after speaking to 7 diff case managers. there has been zero help from them in regards to their liability in this. there is already a class action lawsuit filed, in 2020. it is sad that they are handling clients this way. i was very nice and i work in customer service so i understand what is possible etc. the jeep mechanic locally , called on my case to verify and tell them that my engine needs to be replaced as a direct correlation of the recalled parts and that they were on back order for months. during those months i tried to have recalled parts replaced and couldn’t because the parts are on back order. during this time my warranty became invalid, because i exceeded 60,000 miles. i’m currently at 62,000 miles. at the time i attempted to have recalls fixed i was under 60,000 miles. secondly the warranty expires in 2022. regardless , the recalls caused the engine needing to be replaced. please advise what my options are to ensure i don’t have to pay to replace the whole engine. thank you

I was driving in right lane,40-45mph, heard a very loud bang (not a tire), front end of jeep lifted up, then began veering to the right heading off the road. i was unable to break or turn steering. next thing, i woke up from being knocked out, hit a pole, 3 witnesses heard the bang as well - one witness told police, all 3 air bags went off. emergency services were summoned. car totaled. pole is still standing upright. fortunately i did not die or get seriously injured. emergency services said if i had hit the tree next to pole, the outcome of my injuries would have been totally different. car was towed to auto repair center and they had never seen collision damage such as this. insurance company notified. police report made at time of accident.no driver citations. a few days later i contacted jeep company, told them they needed to send someone out to look at this damage, because someone is going to die! they had a third party come out to the collision repair shop and get black box information/examined vehicle. a few days later, i received a carefully worded letter from jeep that they saw no suspension or steering issues to be the reason for the accident. only the bang, vehicle uplift on right side, hitting pole. no warning lights were on. this car was purchased new in 2/2018. i just hit the 30,000 miles, new tires on vehicle for 3 months and had only 2,000 miles of usage on them. the vehicle was in excellent condition and always maintained 100%. even the farmer's insurance inspector stated car was in showroom condition. rim broke in half along inner seam, no blowout evidence, tie rod broke in half, ball joint shaft inside of the knuckle (broke inside of it), pivot still in lower control arm. have photos/police report/pics. no other vehicles involved. husband had to help tow truck driver slide the suspension under vehicle to tow it. i can send upon request insurance company docs and letter from jeep upon request.

Vehicle stalled after overheating and now has a blown head gasket

Car is hesitating and bucking, shaking. engine light came on and stayed on. engine light flashes intermittently. it is available upon request. i see that some 2017-2018 renegades had an engine recall but it doesn't show up on this web site for this vin. i didn't see a "code" but not sure where i would see that anyway. this began yesterday when we were 80 miles from home. made it back.

I have experienced innumerable incidents where my car jolts while i am driving. i have had passengers describe it as if the engine is stalling for a second or the transmission is failing and then instantly recovering. the best i can describe the feeling is as if the car hiccups. it occurs at least once a week, sometimes multiple times a day. it is intermittent and unpredictable. it has occurred at a variety of speeds, on surface street, freeways, etc. also at varying temperatures throughout the day. i believe it only occurs during acceleration, not while breaking. i bought the car new and have taken it into the jeep dealership but they did not find anything because the issue did not occur on their test drive. a few weeks ago, my engine was replaced due to a separate recall and i had hoped that it would simultaneously fix this problem but it has continued to happen, if not at the same rate then more frequently. as of yet, there have been no accidents caused by it but it makes me feel uneasy and distrustful of my vehicle. i fear for my safety and those around me if the issue worsens.

While driving on a busy freeway the car started violently jerking to the left. i slowed and moved to the right lane as the jerking became more and more frequent. by the time i made it to the next exit the car had become difficult to control. as i took the next exit the power steering failed completely. i've had the car to the dealership and a second mechanic. both say it is a failure of the electronic control unit and the steering column needs to be replaced. i barely managed to get the car off the freeway. i hate to think what could have happened had this occurred on a twisty road rather then a fairly straight stretch of freeway. i had no warning. first indication of the problem was the car jerking to the left. warning lights didn't come on till power steering failed about a mile down the road.

The car is unable to maintain a charge and the engine will shut off while driving

The car is reading a electrical braking issue something with the electrical system that has been recalled with my year and model car.

Vehicle transmission jolts when going through gears

My car is stalling as i drive. it is completely shutting off. i had recall w84 performed. the problem is believed to be the recall ub2. this has been confirmed by a dealer. i am afraid for my life and believe that this defect will likely cause a crash.

My fog light has now caught fire and burned twice. the entire assembly has melted to pieces. this is a safety concern and can result in someone's vehicle burning to the ground and possible injury to someone. this is not ok that my fog lights are catching fire like they are doing that is from the manufacturer. i'm being held responsible for repairs also that's not ok as i'm not at fault for this occurring.

I should have still had gas in my tank according to my dash. i had just pulled into a parking space at a store and my car just stopped running. ended up getting it towed and checked over all to find out my car was out of gas. if i was driving and this happened it would not have ended good. no lights popped up on my dash. i showed i had plenty of gas still. since then i have kept it at half a tank or over and each time i fill up it is taking a different amount of fuel. i have no idea what is happening and i have not had the time or money yet to take this in to figure out what is happening. the jeep only has 55,564 miles on it and i keep up regular maintenance. i have not had any issues since i bought this in april 2021 until now. i have had an older car in my past do this to me and was almost hit by another car because of it. i do not feel this should be happening to a car with this low of miles. i will be taking the car in soon to get inspected more but figured this should be something i should make you aware of.

Shortly after purchasing my vehicle i was informed that one of my lights had “blown out” but upon further inspection the light still works but is very dim due to a black lense. i recently noticed that the other light is starting to turn black also. my mother has a 2017 jeep renegade and one of hers is also having this issue.

When i am driving the car, it jerks. i have all my maintenance up to par. the dealership can find nothing wrong with it.

Vehicle shuts off while driving as well as taking turns. just shuts off with no warning. after it shuts off the lightning bolt in parentheses (electronic throttle control system) comes on, then goes away. car shows as still running, but won't move. the low oil gauge comes on and then car stops moving. very unsafe for vehicle to just "stop moving" or "shut off" in the middle of driving, or in the middle of an intersection. when this happens, i have to put the car in park, turn it off and then start it again. it usually takes several attempts to get it to start. it happens when i’m going at a slow rate of speed.

There is a recall on the 2017 renegade but somehow my jeep isn’t on the list even though i am having the exact issue - they think the oil pump isn’t working correctly. the vehicle just stops driving when in drive. which is terrifying. it happened twice and we contacted fca twice to have them do nothing. they said we have to drive the vehicle for 2000 miles in order to read the oil level - which is nuts. i can’t get in a vehicle that just stops working while driving, it’s a huge liability. it’s been sitting at the service department in a dealership for a year and a half and no one will help.

P215v60r17 car was driving with a shimmy as if wheel was not balanced, then low pressure warning came on. display gives tire psi and it showed left front tire low and losing 1 psi per 2 minutes approx. stopping to check which revealed belts were exposed and tread was missing in one spot in center of tread and air was leaking here. tread was normal (about half worn) on rest of tire except edge opposite the damaged area where edge was very worn. this was not normal wear or abuse as tire was not run flat or anything similar.

When driving my jeep many times at the speed of 29 mph, my vehicle jerks violently and shifts hard. i am concerned when this happens as i am in forward motion when this occurs that it could cause a safety issue or hazzard.

My car lost power and error about place in park, cant remember the exact info but then didnt want to start was draggy.

Instrument panel will show various light/warning issues when there is no problem

The contact owns a 2017 jeep renegade. the contact stated while driving 30 mph with the cruise control activated, the vehicle inadvertently slowed down with several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact stated that the cruise control disengaged and failed to re-engage. the contact then noticed that none of the electrical features in the vehicle was working. the vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic who stated that the vehicle was having electrical issues. the manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the vehicle was experiencing the failure listed in nhtsa campaign number: 17v485000 (electrical system) however, the vin was not included in the recall. the contact stated that the manufacturer advised her to contact the nhtsa for assistance. the approximate failure mileage was 93,000.

I received a recall notice for engine consuming too much oil at which around the same time i was driving when the engine stalled on me in the middle of the road. i went to the dealer and they mentioned that engine was empty of oil. an oil consumption test was done and yielded normal results according to the dealership. fresh oil change was given and after 3000 miles, the same problem occurred: engine stalled on me in the middle of the road way before the manufacturer recommended oil change interval. i called fca chrysler manufacturer who told me to go to another dealership. i go to another dealership and they said the same thing: oil consumption is normal. dealer has been overfilling oil to compensate for the oil consumption so that when i return for oil changes or to complain, the oil leves appear to be normal.

The hose that holds the widow wiper fluid is made of cheap plastic and has cracked and leaks badly on the drivers side of the passengers section. i found a youtube video wher the exact same thing happened to someone else car. same model same problem and can cause other water damage. i have a video.

The renegade makes a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle at about 35 mph and begins to dissipate at around 45 mph when the car is in drive. if i move the drive selector to manual shifting, the noise goes away for the most part. if i turn off the traction control, the noise disappears completely. i'm not real excited about turning off the traction control system as this could enhance the dangers of driving with reduced traction control. this happens without fail.

I was in aware the driver side door wasn’t completely closed the indicator wasn’t on as i pulled out of a parking lot turning right i guess the door moved enough to set off the indicator and that in turn triggered the electric parking brake and the car locked down as a huge dump truck is coming towards me… i had plenty of space to pull out but when the brakes locked down now i’m stuck with seconds from unpact it takes 9 seconds to deactivate the epb having to be fully stopped push the brake pedal hit the button and wait for it to unlock i had about 4 my only option was to floor it dragging my rear end into the next lane then jump into the left turn lane because there was a semi coming in the other lane…. this accessory almost killed me it’s only a matter of time before people start being killed by a brake that will suddenly lock down for now good reason and in all my research there is no way to disable it from operation now i have flat spots on both my tires

I was driving at highway speeds on i40 going through new mexico up a hill with outside temperatures around 100degrees f when the car stopped accelerating. my speed continued decreasing despite me pushing the gas pedal. the engine stalled, the transmission and engine lights appeared on the display. i was able to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road at which point it would start but wouldn’t drive for more than 10-20 seconds without stalling. at one point the car was going in reverse despite being shifted in d. this happened one other time a couple years ago while driving outside of estes park and the jeep was taken to a local dealer and then to the dealer i purchased from and they were unable to replicate the issue or find a code. they replaced the shifter assembly. i hadn’t driven it in high heat and elevation again until recently.

The jeep will not accelerate as expected, it may have to do with the throttle bottle. this lack of acceleration or hesitation while accelerating, can lead to unsafe driving conditions. under normal driving conditions, i need to be able to accelerate to pass a car, to merge onto the freeway, and be able to handle stop and go traffic without hesitation. i am afraid i may cause an accident if i continue to drive the jeep. i will be biking as much as possible to avoid driving it in this condition. the dealer performed a diagnostic and admitted there was a problem, but i was told there was no know "fix" for it at the time. no one else has inspected the jeep. there have been no warning lights at all.

I was on the expressway and all of a sudden i couldn’t accelerate. the engine completed died. i just used a little smarts to get off before it completely stopped. no warning lights no warning at all.

Jeep was running fine then stopped turned off vehicle, filled gas tank with $25, went to start jeep, horn started blaring, panel started lighting up like a christmas tree. jeep wouldn't start. called a tow truck they had to disconnect battery and had my jeep towed to home. waiting to take to dealership to see what caused the issue.

Left rear brake light, blinker and reverse light stopped working simultaneously. bulbs replaced, so not operating. found multiple complaints online and discovered the ground to the tail light was burnt and the board and pigtail connector had to be replaced.

My engine cooling system is malfunctioning. my safety is at risk and can put others at risk while i am driving because the engine can permanently malfunction i lose control of my car. i have let the dealer at my local center costa mesa california jeep dealership and the representative did not help with my situation. the dealership installed a new engine due to a recall letter i received for my vehicle. i believe its the dealerships responsibility to fix the engine cooling system problem since they have just replaced a new engine on my vehicle. the problem first appeared since the day i picked up my vehicle from the dealership. i smelled coolant liquid from the first day and advisor just said that its normal to smell coolant because i just got a new engine installed for my vehicle.

The vehicle will go about 80 miles then just completely shut down while driving. it can be restarted but will continue to die unless you turn it off for at least 1 day very dangerous

Lug nuts have to be replaced every time they are removed either because of swelling or rust.

Went to start my jeep, started & stalled. oil pan had rusted & all oil came out with no evidence from instrument panel that i had a problem at anytime before or after. when i called the dealership i bought it from they said they seen a lot of this. was no longer under warranty as it only covered up to 60,000 miles. it would cost me out of pocket a little over $500. took it to my private mechanic to fix as my experience with jeep service departments is there is no service. i'm not sure of the difference in price between my mechanic & the dealer.

Engine uses excessive amounts of oil. we took the car in twice to do an oil consumption test, which resulted in one quart per 1,000 miles. the dealer says this is normal. this is a five year old car with 60,000 miles on it, which is average. we have other fca products that consume imperceptible amounts of oil between scheduled oil changes (every six months or 10,000 miles). i have old cars with hundreds of thousands of miles that don't consume oil to this extent. maybe it's normal for this vehicle or, more precisely, this engine, but it is not normal for the average car.

The windows on the jeep renegades over extend when putting them up, thereby tearing out the top of the housing causing leaks and possible electrical damage in the door panels. this also creates a whistle noise coming through the torn housing when driving. the ac works harder to heat and cool the cabin because of the poor air seal, causing drivers to burn more fuel and stress the components of the vehicle. i called my service department and got quoted me over $800 for two window seal repairs. he also told me that he see this on nearly every jeep renegade that comes in for service. this is a problem jeep should be aware of as it is costing their customers expensive repairs. i purchased this car (2017 jeep renegade latitude 2.4) november 2021 and noticed the problem after the purchase so, this problem was existing prior to my ownership.

Engine is burning oil. one recall issued and answered with a software update. update has not fixed problem. dealership did an oil consumption test. dealership said it passed despite the fact it lost half a quart of oil in 1500 miles. my oil change is now right around the corner and it's over a quart low on oil. oil light only comes on when it's just shy of bone dry. it is not normal or safe to have this much oil consumption in such a short amount of time.

Fuse box in engine compartment is melted. unable to drive vehicle due to comprising other engine parts. unable to get vehicle fixed due to dealer unable to get part.

After getting gas on two occasions, today being the worst, my car shut off as i was exiting the gas station. my vehicle has started rough on a few other occasions, which i have spoken to my dealership. to which i was told maybe i wasn’t pushing the start button long enough. i was clearly concerned for my safety and my mothers because she was in the vehicle with me. i was also concerned for the oncoming traffic. i have taken it to the dealership for a diagnostic test because the engine light comes on and off. the code came up for a slight evap leak. i have been waiting for that part for about 3 months now. this usually only happens after i get gas. i am so worried that it’s going to start happening all the time or i am going to get into a bad accident.

When you get up to 29-30 mph the vehicle will jerk. sometimes so hard it feels like you have been hit in the back in. i took it in 3 times to be checked out. this is the explanation they gave me for why my car does this. that newer vehicles get used to one person driving it and when someone else does then goes back to the original person it knows this. so it is trying to relearn the driving pattern. i know cars are a lot smarter now. not that smart though. i know something is making it do this. no one can give me a real explanation.

I purchased this vehicle used with 6000-ish miles on it, the front passenger brake system had started making a slight noise, somewhat scraping or dragging. when i brought in the car for a tire change or balance, the issue was brought up to me at big o tires in aurora co, that an issue of the brake system has a scraping or wear that usually found in a much older vehicle or one with much more mileage. i cannot at this time give the exact explanation of the issue, but i recently had an issue with the front passenger tire with a slow leak, since the tire was replaced the issue with the scraping noise has returned. 2nd issue: the headlamps have always had a weak beam, not giving a good illumination of the road area ahead of the vehicle even when the weather is clear. it barely reveals the road ahead of me. when it is raining or snowfall, it is extremely poor. i have considered bringing it in for a change in the headlamps to a higher amp or extreme high reflecting blue lamp color that i am encountering in high illumination from oncoming vehicles. but had feared: cost, and that it would not change anything or make other electrical parts of strain to function.

Just purchased this jeep august 31, 2022. this is the 2nd time that while driving the vehicle suddenly shows very high rpm and will barely move. could the previous repair to the engine recall have failed? i have an appointment to take the vehicle for service again. the first time the dealership said they did updates to fix the problem.

Driver side door cable release system to open door broke for the second time. this is a safety hazard that should be addressed.

Notification on dashboard that driver tail light, blinker, and brake lights were not on and need to be serviced. took the vehicle to dealership. bulbs were replaced and still not working. was quoted that the connector and pigtail would need to be replaced with an estimate of $700. it is safety concern to try and switch lanes without a working indicator. there was a software update issued for the electrical system instrument panel id 17v485000 that had not been completed. this software indicates a malfunction in the warning system lights. the tail light could have not been working before and the indicator light did not light up. all of the is occurred on november 17 2022

While accelerating at a certain speed and letting go of the pedal the vehicle stalls causing a loud cluck sound depending of the speed of the acceleration. i am not sure if this issue will cause the vehicle to break down or cause other problems in the near future. in the beginning of november 2022, the drivers side has been making clunking noises when ever i reverse and while slowly taking from. it is nov 25, and i have been told is the struts that have signs of defective because of the tires wearing down from the inner side. also, i was told by a different mechanic the motor mount may be loose, and now the wheel bearing. i've replaced the wheel bearing on the driver's side and the noise has not completely left but the replacement helped. i am hoping the struts make the difference along with swapping to street tires.

While attempted to stop at traffic light. brake caliper on right passenger tire only locked. causing vehicle to swerve into oncoming traffic in parallel lane while i attempted to gain control. vehicle was inspected by local brake and tire company on 12/7/22. it was explained by said company that for only one brake caliper to be affected to the point of needing to be replaced was extremely uncommon. considering vehicle was purchased with 8 existing miles. vehicle currently has 83,000 miles.

The coolant loses too fast, like one cup coolant per one thousand miles. but coolant dripping can be found.

I was in a t-bone accident involving my 2017 jeep renegade trailhawk. the accident was severe enough to yield the vehicle undrivable and insurance has tentatively declared it a total loss (claim not yet finalized). i had a passenger in the front seat at the time of the accident and we were both surprised that no airbags were deployed in the accident. we were wearing seatbelts and fortunately the only injuries sustained were bruising, but without seatbelts injuries would have been far worse. the jeep was purchased with approximately 25k miles on the odometer, had only one previous owner, and had no record of accidents, damage, deployed airbags, or recalls. at time of the accident, the odometer had around 54k miles, there were no warning lamps or messages, had still not been in any prior accidents, had been regularly maintained, and exhibited no symptoms or problems. photos of damage attached.

When driving down interstate 35, my vehicle stalled in the middle of traffic. i was able to coast to the shoulder of the interstate. once i was out of harms way, i attempted to start my vehicle again; it would start, but at any attempt to put transmission in drive, it would stall. after the vehicle sat for approximately 10 mins, the vehicle started and i continued to my destination with no problems. two days later, the same thing happened when taking my grandchildren to school. the vehicle stalled in the middle of the road; a good samaritan helped me push the vehicle out of the road. once again, after several attempts to start it, the vehicle would die when trying to put in drive, but after a short time, it started and continued with no problems. due to multiple electronic, wiring, and unexplainable issues i have had with this vehicle in the past, i began researching issues others had reported to various sites, and it was the first time i had seen an option to report to nhtsa. i had a similar issue in march of last year; my vehicle was at three different shops. the first two could not determine how to fix it. the third shop (after weeks of trying to determine the problem) replaced an ignition coil. it ran good until this incident. this is most definitely a safety concern as it happens unexpectedly with no warning at all.

Fuel pump has a hard time engaging. truck will not start after filling gas tank. also if you hit a bump the radio station in electrical systems go out

Vehicle started from cold and as i was going to reverse, overheating warning light came on and the engine shut off. scary, if this would have happened on the road or worse on the freeway i could have caused an accident. after i attempted to start it, and all warning lights came on and shut down again. this happened on 1-13-23. vehicle had not been driven.

Cooling motor fan is shorted and causing fan fuse to blow therefore causing engine to overheat which can blow it up and cause extreme safety issues. there should be an active recall on my vehicle as the cooling fan needs completely replaced and i have looked this problem up and other 2015-2017 jeep renegades have had this problem with active recalls.

My 2017 jeep renegade has had issues with electrical failures for several years off and on. at times it will state that parking lights, headlights, and brake lights are not working and they really are. the radio will also go very loud then quiet or quit working all together. the air conditioner will stop working randomly and then start again. on another occasion it would not go out of park, the wipers would not shut off, and the windows were not working. it usually always randomly resolves but always occurs again. there is a known recall for the software which causes these exact issues but this vin is not included. i have video of the malfunctions if needed.

My vehicle runs out of gas at 1/4 display on the fuel gauge. the steering stopped working in my car turns off stating i have 48 miles. it’s extremely dangerous this is happened twice already live on the car for two years.

All warning lights will flash and the car is unable to be out in drive, the car will not shut off unless the battery is disconnected. dealership charged 5000 to replace an electrical harness at 34000 miles. car is again flashing warning lights while driving such as emergency brake on, key fob left the vehicle, fuel engine, all of these are occurring while driving. there is a recall but on this year and model but this jeep is not included in the recall.

As i was driving on the freeway my car suddenly started to act and feel different. i had the ability to exit the freeway immediately and thankfully made it to a parking lot where my engine eventually died. i had the vehicle towed to my mechanic where he determined the rocker arm (attached to the mutli air actuator) on cylinder 4 broke and caused the engine to malfunction. had i been unable to exit the freeway i would have been a road hazard and in an unsafe situation. my mechanic replaced the multi air actuator and the cam shaft. he also confirmed that he has seen this exact issue in other chrysler vehicles, specifically jeeps.

Fuel system or engine failure to start vehicle. malfunctioning, as well as excess oil consumption. dealerships are neglect to address the issues. there is a recall for the make, model, and year of my vehicle but my vin was not listed but i believe it should be.

-airbags failed to deploy in a head on collision!! -safety! we were in a head on collision and our airbags never deployed, if they had my daughter and i would have significantly less bodily injuries and trauma!! -no warning lamps or messages appeared before or after impact -yes vehicle has been inspected by police, insurance reps, auto service center rep, lawyer i was driving our newly purchased (owned less then 30 days with 17882 miles) 2017 jeep renegade with my teenage daughter at 4:38pm rain was present traveling straight through an green light intersection i had the right a way when another car traveling towards us attempting to turn left failed to yield for us and hit us head on bouncing off and hitting us again at a high rate of speed. airbags never deployed

My fuel gauge went bad, resulting in me running out of gas when it stated i had over 1/4 tank left. so that $80 tow bill was fun. also, my coolant temperature light just started coming on today, reaching all the way up to the top and red light when i was idling at stop lights. it would return to middle while driving, then ramp up to the top when idling. by searching the recalls with my vin, it states i have no recalls to fix. however, after speaking with an fca recall center representative, i was told to take it into a dealership so they could diagnose it as a manufacturing defect. let me also state i'm not thrilled with this dealership and they have been sneaky in the past, gaslighting me about the excessive oil consumption and blaming me, when it was a recall that they later fixed (james river jeep, ozark, missouri).

The vehicle has stalled on multiple occasions (thankfully not on the highway). i have noticed it burns oil and i always have to carry extra oil bottles with me. once it stalls, i know i have to put in more oil. my safety and others have been put on risk because the car randomly stalls and stops in the middle of the road, making it possible and high risk for accident where myself and others could be injured. no. no. no.

My 2017 jeep renegade limited with under 24k miles sky view stopped working. while attempting to close the sky view the process was sluggish, and struggled to close. i brought the vehicle to princeton chryslerjeep dealership om 5/3/23 where i purchased. i was instructed that they would assess the situation for 163.00 dollars and that would be applied to the repair . much to my surprise i was instructed that the diagnostic test preformed found it was the motor component in the sky view that needed to be replaced. the dealership noted that the whole sky view needed to be replaced at an outside body shop for 6,500 dollars. the design would not allow a component to be replaced for repair. so the total cost would literally be 1/3 value of the car due to inferior design and no fault of the owner. my concern is why this is not covered when it was cleary a faulty design. and why was i charged 163 dollars for a 3 minute diagnostic test when obviously the dealer new of other issues jeep experienced with the sky view. (multiple complains on line. no warnings or symptoms leading up to sky view issue. also took my jeep to dealer for regular oil change and maintence

The vehicle instrument panel begins flashing multiple warning lights while driving and subsequently while stopped such as emergency brake on, key fob left the vehicle, fuel engine, tpms, etc. all of these occur while the vehicle is moving. while coming to a stop the power steering pump also becomes inoperative, the shift indicator (prnd) is blinking, and it is impossible to move the shift lever. the vehicle will not shut off until the battery is disconnected. the problem seems to manifest when ambient air temperature exceeds 80 fahrenheit and the vehicle has been previously operated.

Recall engine oil excessive consumption, engine failure issues.

The component involved involves the oil. my jeep keeps running out of oil to the point where we have to keep putting more in. a couple times the car has turned off because of this problem. i brought the car to my mechanic only to find out the oil was completely gone. i’m lucky the motor didn’t go. i do have the oil changed every 3,000 miles but after only 2000 miles i get the message saying i need an oil change. the car is only 6 years old and only has 36,000 miles on it. i don’t what is going on but to me it seems there is a leak somewhere. i am afraid to drive it.

The check engine light came on and lost power and fuel. took it in mechanic shop pulled up code p2122 throttle/ pedal sensor failure

There is something wrong with the oil system. my 2017 jeep renegade burns through the oil, really bad. at approx 25,000 miles, i took it to the dealership, they ran a test and said i am within specs of burning a quart of oil for every 600 miles. what?? on a brand new vehicle? i have also experienced the vehicle shutting down in the middle of the highway! dangerous and scary! i will be driving along and all of a sudden the vehicle just shuts down, it takes a couple attempts to get it restarted. i put in a 1/2-1 quart of oil and it runs again. this shutting off in the middle of the road has been happening since 25,000 miles and i now have 119,000 miles.

This vehicle only has about 55,000 miles on it and the transmission is failing, somewhere between four and six gear the car starts jerking

Related to recall v54, engine cooling fan abruptly stopped working causing the vehicle to overheat and having to have costly dealer repairs. i was told that my vin # was not included in the the recall but did experience the exact issue listed in recall. replaced fan not knowing about this recall only to still have engine computer issues now with vehicle related to overheating. currently at a dealership with a month waiting time to repair.

This car is a lemon and the entire car should be a recall. shortly after having it i had to replace the tires , brakes , suspension. then just a couple months ago i had a sediment in the coolant that is very rare and the only time the mechanic experienced that was on recall cars where (not sure if i am saying this correctly) dust is left when they cast the engine in production. and it takes years for it to build up and destroy your car. now it’s at jeep in dade city fl and they said the engine is bad … after spending $950 on the sediment issue. another $980 a couple weeks ago for battery , spark plugs , computer software update etc. now they want another $700 just to open my engine up and see what’s wrong. i am done. so as of now i have no car. jeep only offered me $2k to buy it from me. and i still owe $12k. and i put about $3k into it in the last 5 months. this should be illegal to sell a lemon like this and leave a consumer like me more than $12k out. and from my research. many others have the same complaint. something legally should be done about this.

The mysky feature on this particular model along with others vehicle has broke and not working. the main concern for alot of us is the brackets that slide the roof open and close are breaking very easily. there are many jeep renegade users that are having the same issues. the jeep dealership has also said the same that they fix alot of these issues and are not covered. this can also be a safety issue since it is an escape from a vehicle if the doors become unable to open.

Car stalled in the middle of the busy road with no warning when accelerating from a right turn between 12-24 mph and a "low oil pressure sensor" light displayed and disappeared for 3 seconds. received oil change that day and valvoline did not mention any concerns about oil level. the next day, my car had been driving for 10+ min and struggled to accelerate out of light, specifically in range of 30-45 mph and the rpms shot up to 3000. car kept running but struggled to down shift. terrified of this happening on my daily interstate and state roads drive, especially in winter!!! taking to dealership service department to hopefully get this huge safety issue fixed.

The passenger safety belt latch comes undone for no reason. this happens frequently. we always check to make sure it is properly fastened with the clicking sound. while driving, the buckle comes unlatched causing a safety issue. i have taken my jeep to the jeep dealer and they stated there are no recalls on this particular id and that both safety belt systems will have to be replaced for $700. this is a safety hazard due to a defective safety belt system.

This jeep renegade model have had various problems including rapid oil loss caused by cracks in the oil pump housing, as well as a loss in fuel pressure and i believe i’m experiencing these problems and there hasn’t been a recall for me vehicle so id like to see if it needs to be recalled

The component that failed is the wheel lug bolts. the cap of each of the 20 lug bolts is of a metal alloy that expands under normal driving conditions, making it impossible to remove the lug bolts by an ordinary operator in the event of a tire failure. the car dealership identified this problem during tire rotation service and stated that the problem oem lug bolts are endemic to jeep vehicles. this was the first instance that i was aware of this problem. the dealership require the consumer to pay for replacements wholly made of steel. mopar charges over $11/lug bolt. the cost of a full set of 20 lug bolts is over $200. why doesn't the manufacturer or dealer recall and replace the lug bolts at no cost to the consumer?

I was driving and all of a sudden the “service transmission” light came on and my car would not go past the first gear. the light went off and my car went back to normal. it has been doing this on and off for about 4 days. i took it to landers chrysler jeep and dodge of norman oklahoma and they did a diagnostic. they said it needs a software update but they refused to fix it. i took it to a mechanic and they stated that there is nothing mechanically wrong with the transmission, it is completely software related.

The grounding wire in the wiring harness of the driver's side, rear light assembly has melted. according to owner forums on the internet, there aren umerous reports of this being a problem.

Driving vehicle and lost power. vehicle will crank, but won’t start

1st issue was the a/c unit which mechanic said was a factory defective part. replaced under warranty & now is not working again. 2nd issue is coolant & flushing system. replaced las year & mechanic said it was a factory defective part. this was 2 different mechanics. i just had my car overheat on me again nearly a year later with sludge in the tank again. i am payong wayyyyy too much money for this to be on me again! i need repairs done at your cost and a car to drive.

Sudden stop entrance to an exit ramp. the engine stalled and started leaking the fluid caused some and flames - fire department had to be called. . had to replace the engine for approx. $6600 we are still waiting on parts for the seat belts this has been over a year with jeep. the parts are backordered. the seatbelts come undone constantly on both the driver and passenger sides. parts are $330 and labor is approx. $400 total $730. there are 90000 jeep wranglers with this same issues but they were recalled. we can't even get the parts it's been over a year. axle on left side of jeep was broke -took jeep to have serviced for oil and tire rotation. service person found that the axel was broke. cost $1500 service man stated the axel was like a straw.

“swollen lug nuts” a known issue as noted by dealer mechanic. i’ve replaced some or all going on 3 times. if i have flat on interstate i cannot remove and replace a tire. this is a safety concern. .

On 7/26/2024 i was driving my 2017 jeep renegade 1.4l eastbound on i-70 going ~65mph. my dash had zero warning lamps or messages and there were no other symptoms of any problem yet suddenly at mile marker 188 my engine had no power, abundant smoke exited my tailpipe and engine, and i was forced to immediately pull over into a shallow construction zone with heavy interstate traffic whizzing past us. i turned my vehicle off and just turned the power back on for any information. only then did the check engine light illuminate. i searched through my dash indicators and saw that there was simply no reading for oil temperature. i have immaculate maintenance records since the day i purchased my vehicle in 2019 including regular full synthetic oil and filter changes (on average 2,989 miles for years). i had two multi-point vehicle inspections at my original dealer (my due diligence maintenance before my extended warranty expired) around 2,000 miles, an oil change 1,038 miles, and a cooling system pressure test at 1,029 miles before this incident occurred. i had two independent, certified mechanic companies diagnose and confirm my vehicle condition: cylinder 1 had no compression with a crack in the piston. my vast research on jeep renegades with 1.4l and 2.4l engines validates all my issues. i believe this catastrophic engine failure at a shocking odometer reading of 61,881 is due to a defect and it puts me and others at major safety risk. this was my second financially offensive event as my first involved having to replace my clutch system at mile 45,057 for ~$4,500 despite having owned and properly operated other manuals with no issue for years. in addition to the cost of maintenance, multiple expensive repairs, numerous towing events, mechanic diagnostics, renting cars when this jeep failed me, i am now looking at a $10,000 engine fix for a historically unreliable vehicle. The rear driver side tail light, brake light, and turn signal stopped functioning at one time while driving (leaving a parking lot). warning indicators for all 3 appeared on the dash notice area. checked all lights and fuses for the 3 lights to ensure nothing was damaged or blown. all were fine. the issue is the center pin for the ground wire connecting the rear lighting housing had melted. this was determined after searching online for assistance to figure out the issue, as the lights and fuses were all in working order. apparently this is extremely common in the 2017 jeep renegade specifically. it is a costly repair, which most people cannot repair themselves, myself included.

The first generation with the 1.4l turbo engine. had two air lines coming off of the air filter container. they are solid and break when the dealer does the courtesy check during oil changes. it is a common problem showing online and the dealers do not take responsibility for it

My oil light indicator came on month after i had my oil changed. the jeep literally shut off on me when i was driving on a main road at 45 miles an hour. this happened to me 3 times yesterday i had no safe place to pull over. i was stuck in the middle of the road with hazards on hoping no one would crash into me! i looked up recalls for my jeep and there is a recall for a cracked oil component on this jeep. but it's saying no recalls on my jeep! i looked at the symptoms of it and did some research and apparently the car shutting off is a symptom of that. i bought this jeep last year and have spent hundreds of dollars trying to diagnosis the problem but always ended up with an oil change a month after i've already had one. im terrified this will happen again.

I have a 2017 jeep renegade latitude. i bought it in 2020 and had it for 2 weeks when the engine blew up. there was a recall on the engine so chrysler paid for the “new” engine. two weeks after i got it back it started stalling out when i was driving down the road. i had a new starter put in it and now when it decides to shut down while driving the brakes come on, including the emergency brakes, it comes to a screeching halt, and the gear shift throws itself from drive into park. i just want to either get my car fixed or stellantis to trade with me to make things right. it is very unsafe to drive. especially when you don’t know when it is going to do this because it doesn’t happen every time you drive the car.

I was traveling on the highway at approximately 65mph at rush hour and my vehicle's accelerator stopped working, therefore rapidly slowing down my vehicle without any messages or notifications as to why. i barely got my car to the shoulder of the highway before the accelerator became completely firm and would not allow my car to move forward any further. this happened in a span of a few seconds. before putting my car in park, it said i needed to put it in park and depress the brake in order to shift into drive. this is the 2nd time my car has become disabled abruptly on the highway and thr first time it was taken to the jeep dealership where they said it was a fuel pump and electrical system and that my car ran out of gas without it showing i was on empty. the gauge read just short of the empty mark both times before becoming disabled but the light never came on saying i was almost out of gas.

Engine malfunction with unpredictable times of hard shift jolting. it's a concern while driving and frightened when it happens. not sure if this could get worse and could be a safety risk. took to a dealer. did not act up when they checked it. it has to be driven all the time to catch when it decides to act up. happens between 2 to 3 and down from 4th to 3rd gear. no engine light indicates a problem. when i had other things fixed, i had mechanic to check it out. invoice mentioned what was fixed but nothing stating about them running a test on what i have additionally been experiencing with the jolt as it shifts since it didn't do it at the time. had transmission flushed hoping it would help but still does it.

The rear windows do not properly stop causing damage to the rubber window/door frame. when put up, they pass through the insert ripping the rubber trim. this also causes a space in the bottom of the window a child can stick their finger through. if not aware, when the window is lowered a finger can be severely broken

Three times now the vehicle has simply died while being driven. no warning lights or sensors; just stopped running. all three times the vehicle had just been started, idled for a couple of minutes, and then died within three minutes of being put in motion on a city street while driving straight ahead at speeds between 15-30 mph.

While driving i could hear the vehicle running very loud and then it would get quiet. the service engine light came on. then when i exited the vehicle i felt the hood which was very hot and while driving i was watching the coolant level which would fluctuate very high and then go low.

Manual trans 1.4l. for approximately the last year, i’ve gotten an intermittent “service electric parking brake” message. i never had it looked at, i disconnected the battery and then it would go away. also the car completely stopped turning off from accessory power mode. i couldn’t just roll down the windows, i had to crank the car or the power wouldn’t turn back off. recently had check engine light with code p0807 “clutch position sensor circuit 1 low” showing. the next day, car was difficult to start. it took several tries pushing the start button and messing with clutch before it would turn over. i took it to a shop (not dealer) and they couldn’t find anything or replicate the codes and told me it was a glitch. next day i get the epb light again and used my code reader and it was showing p0807 and abs code c1220-86. so i located said switch and unplugged it, and boom. all the problem codes popped up again and i was able to turn the car off like normal. i removed the sensor and opened the cover on it. the carbon film inside was missing a section. tested with a meter and the sensor lost voltage when sweep arm inside reached the broken spot. this is a problem that could leave you stranded somewhere if you didn’t have the tools to reach and jump out this sensor. and of course clutch parts are not covered by warranty. even though this is an obvious factory defect seeing as it’s on the inside of a sensor that i couldn’t reach without removing the panel under the steering wheel.

I went to change the fog light bulbs but both fog lights have melted the housing and turned the lens brown. the bulbs are melted to the housing preventing the bulb from being able to be replaced. it needs the whole fog light assembly replaced.

Engine stalls out when driving and at slow turns also low oil light comes on even though oil is up to date. very unsafe when dropping kids off at school.

When i start the car, the warning light for the daytime running light came on. when i checked the light it was out. this happened around 30000 miles. at about 31000 the backup light warning light out came on. i was unable to check the accuracy of this. a few months later (most of the time the car is garages and only goes on road trips) the warning lights stopped coming on. when i took it to the dealer for a recall, all lights were working and the warning lights off but the dealers computer showed the dtrl out. the day after i took it home, the warning light for the dtrl came on again and the driver side light was out again.

Bought 2017/jeep renegade september 2021 with only 17000 miles fro jeep dealer in anderson sc before my first oil change was due i had to put 5 quarts of oil in it. it was shutting off while in motion saying low pressure oil light never came on add oil been running fine

Transmission failure occurred while driving up hill about 80miles north bound on i-15 to las vegas. the engine check lit up and showed transmission failure and to bring in for service. the car stalled and we were on the side of the road. luckily the car started up again but would eventually stalled again as it tried to climb the hill. it stalled about 5 times until we could exit to a gas station (~5miles away) to exchange for another rental car. the car has about ~10k miles on it. the temperature outside was 105 degrees.

I purchased my 2017 jeep renegade 4x4 altitude on march 2, 2017. within two weeks before i had 300 miles on the vehicle i experienced what can only be described as power loss in the middle of an intersection during a u-turn. this u-turn was not as accelerated speeds in excess of 10-15 mph, was on dry paved asphalt. i chalked it up for what i was hoping to be a one time offense. however, it has now happened once again on dry paved roads on a clear day. this time i noticed the traction control light went crazy, just blinking away. the renegade rolled a foot or so because i was only going 5 mph during this u-turn when the renegade lost power. after some research it seems the renegade on-board computer must think the jeep is tipping and as a safety precaution cuts power to the vehicle to prevent a rollover. i'm no expert, but i'm pretty positive a vehicle does not tip in the middle of a u-turn, on dry pavement, and going 5 mph. i have a family, a 18 month old and a pregnant wife. i do not feel comfortable putting my family in this brand new vehicle. i don't even feel safe driving this anymore. who knows when it will decide to lose power again and get me or my family severely injured or worse. chrysler needs to do something about this. this was my first impression of the chrysler company...jeep brand. i've never owned one before and am not sure if buying chrysler is safe for my family at this point.

2017 jeep renegade with removable roof panels. i was driving and the roof panel became detached and flew off my jeep. the jeep was on a normal country street going 35-40 mph. it shot off, flying backwards. it landed 50 feet behind me, in a front yard. it was 5 inches stuck in the mud/yard of a home. it was just the front panel and not the back panel. the button for the roof to slide no longer works, the panel is bent, it is curved. it would not go back on and no longer works the way it was meant to operate.

The first initial occurrence happened jun 12th 2017 while driving on the highway, the jeep renegade began accelerating and decelerating. it then began to jerk uncontrollable and the vehicle itself would turn off on its own. several icons came on the vehicle's dashboard one being a light bolt symbol and the other indicating that the vehicle was overheating. the vehicle was towed to an authorized chrysler dealership and i was told that the issue had been completely resolved. on july 22, 2017 the jeep renegade for the second time while driving on a very busy highway began to have the same issue and turned off and lost its complete power. i had to maneuver the vehicle to the side of the road. the vehicle would not engage no matter the attempts i would try to turn on the renegade. i waited for awhile until the towing company came to load up the vehicle, during this time the towing man could not get the vehicle to turn on and engage no matter how many attempts he made. on both incidents my family was in the vehicle with me and on both incidents the vehicle turned off on its own traveling at speed limits above 50mph. i have been in continuous contact with the manufacture jeep, the local dealership perkins motor in colorado springs, colorado. i am currently an active duty in the army and have been having continuous trouble with the jeep. i dropped off the jeep renegade at the local chrysler approved dealership on july 22, 2017 and still to this date august 19, 2017, the dealership still cannot find the root of the issue. i fear that if i were to receive the vehicle back upon the repairs for the second time for the same vehicle problem from jun 12, 2017 that the vehicle can cause harm to either some other road pedestrian, to my family, or to myself the operator of the vehicle. to this day the dealership still cannot find the root of the problem with the vehicle.

On at least six different occasions while making a slow speed left turn (under 15 mph) and once while making a left u-turn (at approx. 5 mph), my 2017 jeep renegade experiences a loss of power and the abs warning light flashes. there is no acceleration while stepping on the gas pedal. this condition lasts approximately 3 - 5 seconds. on one occasion, the vehicle behind me nearly rear-ended me as my vehicle slowed. the dealer has explained that the vehicle is experiencing a condition that exceeds a parameter set by the software. there have been no codes "set" by these occurrences. they are a bit unnerving and a safety concern. this concern began when the jeep had approximately 1000 miles on the odometer. i now have 6700 and the last occurrence was august 4, 2017.

The fcw plus system does not work properly or maybe not at all. this is supposedly a warning system with sensitivity settings incorporating break and visual/audible warnings. they are supposed to initiate well in advance of a critical circumstance. apparently we are not the only ones being affected by this defective system. chrysler's response is that the system works because diagnostics indicate that it is working and not to physically test the system as you could crash the car. there is no progression of warnings,no advanced pulsing of breaks. seems to only work as a last minute break default but i am not even sure it does that.

Renegade stalling at low speed or making a turn low oil pressure shows on display this is not safe this could cause a major accident i been researching and this is a common issue a lot people complaining.

My car stalled. i had to take it to jiff lube to have it topped with oil because the oil change was not due until 2000 more miles and the oil was very very low.

Vehicle will stall out when driving, going less than 40 miles per hour. system does not shut down. does not seem to be a battery or electrical issue. had this happen 3 times in a month. pulled over into park & had to restart the car. low oil pressure light came on. took in for a routine oil change. mechanic referred me to dealership as they could only determine a low oil consumption/ pressure. terrible knocking sound in front as well. very concerned as other jeeps have been recalled for similar issues, but my 2017 renegade latitude is not under the recall. huge safety concern.

When at slow speeds the engine stalls and says to enter park to shift into gear. then the jeep struggles to restart again

When am driving at 40 mph my car pulls when i let go of the gas or when i step on the gas. it also pulls at higher or lower speeds. it's not always at 40 mph. also when am in driving my forward collision warning turns off just for no reason and on the dash it says it's turned off. stays turned off for at least 1 min or 2. i have taken the vehicle for inspection but they can't seem to find where the problem presistes from.

Jeep has 35000 miles on it and while driving down city streets 4 times the vehicle has just stalled. one time it stalled starting from a stop sign. one time it stalled turning off the highway.

2017 jeep renegade engine dies while driving, often after making turns, and it takes a few minutes to start back up. this has happened on both residential streets at slower speeds, as well as on the highway and is extremely dangerous. service department at jeep dealership says it's normal and a "feature" of the vehicle to turn off the engine if oil levels get too low. we regularly change the oil every 3,000 - 4,000 miles, and there have been no oil leaks detected.

My vehicle is due for an oil change february 11. many 2017 jeep renegades have had a recall issued on them for the vehicle stalling while driving and mine has started doing this. it happened one other time and i thought maybe i missed an oil change. after having the oil changed the problem went away. i am not yet even due for my oil change and am experiencing the issue again. my vehicle should have been included in the recall but some how was missed. this is a big time safety issue and would hope that you guys would look in to it.

The motor quit running while turning onto an on-ramp (25mph), and the readout on the dash said “ low oil pressure “. i had to come to a complete stop, put it in park, and press the brake and push the start button. it started up after a couple of tries, and i drove onto the interstate without it reoccurring. this has happened twice now. it also happened on 01/11/2021.

My car stalled and turned off while driving. i was in motion turning from one road onto another in july 2020 and again 2x on dec 23rd, 2020 without any warning. in july the dealer told me it was a "safety feature" for the engine to turn off if the oil is low. it had been 4,729 miles since my last oil change done by the jeep dealer with synthetic oil (which is good for 6,000 miles). when i had the oil checked after it stalled on dec 23rd the oil was 4 quarts low! there is currently a recall for other 2017 jeep renegades with the 2.4l engine, but my vin is not included. there was a class action lawsuit for my year make and model car filed on july 21st, 2020 for this same exact problem.

My electrical power steering module is experiencing technical issues and my steering wheel locked while driving 55 mph on the highway.

When turning left from a cold start vehicle stalls and shuts off. it says it needs to shift, but it is already in drive. you must shut the vehicle off and attempt to start it sometimes it takes five minutes for it to start. now it says there are issues with the lights, like they are out but they are actually working. no work has been done on it before. currently at the dealership. have video.

My renegade has stalled 5xs in the last 4 months while driving down the road. each time, i'm driving at low speeds. it constantly says my oil is low, but the techs keep saying my oil is fine. this last time, i checked the oil. my renegade didn't even have oil on the dip stick. i searched my usual parking spot and there is no oil on the ground.

Car burns through oil very quickly. while i was driving, the oil light flashed for half a second and then the car just completely shut down. the oil had run out completely under 2000 miles from last oil change. this has happened twice. if you don’t constantly manually check the oil level, the car can just shut off without warning while you are driving which is very dangerous. this car burns through oil extremely fast.

Oil consumption problem (oil completely empty) the car stalled while driving in the neighborhood. started acting up and being sluggish while on the highway. no sensor, engine light, or notice to add oil came on. when the car stalled, checked the oil and it was completely empty. has happened more than once. ,

Bought new 2017 jeep renegade, have vehicle to two dealers so far going to third next week. have had to replace tires three times so far in 30,000 miles. steering pops and pulls when turning, do not fill safe driving it. dealers keep saying it is fixed but is not, think they are stumbling until warranty is gone, been going on sence around 12,000 miles. in motion and turning. cunking off the tire on front driver side.

Burns 3+ quarts of oil every 2500 miles. when oil gets low it causes the vehicle to stall. i have been sitting in traffic and had my vehicle stall 3 times. i am using full synthetic 0w-20, getting oil changes every 6,000 miles and i still have to put oil in it regularly. it also slams gears around 27-29mph regularly, this may be associated to the oil consumption because i notice it more frequently when the oil is low.

My engine is burning oil. before i need an oil change my car is showing low oil pressure and results in the engine being cut off when i’m driving. i check the oil gauge and it’s at an unsafe level. two quarts of oil needed to be added to be within the same range. this is not the first time it’s happened. going on the 4 event of consecutive oil changes now.

My vehicle display message “vehicle not in park” while driving anywhere at various speeds. once msg display, vehicle loses powers. this has happen while driving on freeway. it is intermittent issue. i have open numerous case with chrysler / fca but because dealer is not able to duplicate they won’t repair. i read on internet there is defect in engine. also vehicle displays service passive entry system. they reset software and issue returns.

Oil consumption issue uses more oil than i feel it should. no car unless really high mileage should use more than a quart maybe between oil change i’ve already put in 2.5 in this oil change.

States "parking light" is out and it is and i cannot replace it. it also shakes when i get up to 70 mph.

I was driving my car as an automatic not shifting it. all of a sudden the info section says down shift as i was turning, i was in motion the whole time, i did not stop to turn. and it dies. right in the road while driving. i have looked and my vin doesnt come up as a recall but this oh my god i was lucky i was on a back road to be ok, if i had been on a busy road or interstate my family and i would be dead. what is wrong with it. i need this fixed asap. this is my only means of transportation. help me!!!!!!!

My 2017 jeep renegade burns a tremendous amount of oil. when the oil is too low the car just shuts off while turning or accelerating too fast.

Have had vehicle since 2018. for 2 years, i have had 3 cylinder misfires (with the last one about to happen at any moment) and my vehicle has stalled while driving (once on the freeway) about 8 times. i had to pull over each time to a complete stop. the vehicle stating "vehicle cannot change gears until stopped." once i turned off the engine, it takes about five minutes to restart the engine. the cylinder misfires always begin with aggressive jerking while vehicle is in motion. lasting a few months, leading to aggressive shaking once misfired. on occasion, while vehicle is stopped, seat belt will also not buckle and in the last two years seat belt has also come unbuckled twice while vehicle is in motion.

For the second time my jeep renegade has shut off on me while once was on the interstate, second going up an incline. the first time was no warning and about wrecked due to being on an interstate that had road construction with no edges to pull over, all while my son was in the car with me. both times no oil on dipstick

The low oil light came on after rounding a corner. about two weeks later low oil light came on upon braking while leaving the parking lot and the engine stalled. this occurred two more times while stoping at red traffic lights. the next day on the way to get the oil changed the behavior was the same. if the jeep deaccelerated too quickly, or went around a sharp corner the low oil light came on and the the engine stalled. after the first stall, that happened at a stop sign, the engine had difficulty starting. i needed to try three times before it started. after the oil change it is ok. the dealership told me it is normal that some engines need to have oil added, one quart, between oil changes. i told them that was not true and this was an unsafe defect.

The car seems to want to stall when driving along. had to press on the gas and go above the speed limit so as not to stall. if i put it in gear and press on the gas i have to keep pumping the gas peddle for the engine to get the gas. also if oil is low, the car just shuts off has happened to me 3 times, the sensor (dummy light) does not warn you that your oil is low. i do not drive my car far as i am afraid it will stall in the middle of the highway as i go to work.

Indicator lamp illuminating say that all my lights head lights, turn signals, back up light break lights and turn signals are all out, while driving down the street. i have video and photos but they are to big to upload and do not know how to make them smaller. i see there is a recall for this exact thing but not for my vin number

I have had the oil changed using the recommended weight at the recommended times/mileage and have run out of oil before the next scheduled oil maintenance for the appropriate miles/time causing me to stall. this has happened for a total of three oil changes and started around my 2nd year with the vehicle at 30000 miles. the stall happens on hills or when accelerating quickly or going around corners quickly. i lose pressure and sputter and stall. it has been dangerous a few times already

When driving, my instrument panel says my left tail light, left blinker and left brake lights are out. they do not work, so all of them were replaced and they still do not work. i know there is a recall to fix this, but my vin is not on the recall. can my vin be added to the recall? i am so afraid of getting into an accident when i am transporting my grandchildren to school. the warning symbol is on all the time. the messages flash till i get up to 45 mph and won't display the speed digitally even though i tried to advance to the speed readout, it won't stay on the display.

After refueling the engine stalled when i drove onto the highway. after restarting, the engine shut down. a light came in "vehicle must be in park or start". i put on 4 way flashers. after several stalls, my jeep restarted. this is the second time this has happened.

This doesn't matter if my vehicle is turned on or off. when stationary the jeep renegade will not lock or unlock from the key fob. previously the key fob would work but i would have to repeatedly push the lock/unlock button. i have replaced the battery on the key fobs to no better results.

Was driving to work, turned on mains street and car wouldn't accelerate when i pressed on the gas.

While driving about 25 mph on city roads, the transmission will frequently shift very hard startling driver and passengers. i fear it will cause damage to the car and potentially distract the driver and cause an accident.

My vehicle was in motion on a 2 lane city road going up a mountain in tucson. upon reaching the altitude of about 4000 feet, my vehicle started to stall out. everything locked up, brakes, steering wheel, gas, etc. as the vehicle was stalling, i was able to pull off the road. at this point, my vehicle would not start. after about 20 minutes of waiting, i was able to restart it. we continued our ascent up the mountain, but it happened again about 3 minutes later. at this point, we cancelled our plans and went back down. there were no issues going down the mountain or afterwards. about a month later, we tried it again, and the same thing happened, but this time starting at around 3500 ft.

Malfunction indicator lights come on indicating multiple failures at same time. will usually reset after i turn off engine. my understanding is there is already an active recall for this issue but my vin is not covered. when the indicator lights go on, i am driving, once in a parking lot, once on a city street, and once on the freeway.

2017 jeep renegade has an oil issue where it shuts off the engine with no warnings and when investigating the issue it was found that there was no oil in the engine and there was an oil change done less then 2 weeks prior to this issue it has happened 3 times now where there was no oil found in the car and there were no warnings about the oil level or pressure being low.

Within 6 months of purchasing new car,the computer needed to be replaced in dash-uses 1 qt. oil every 2000 miles.ive complained and complained to no avail-dealerships all say its “normal” now.the transmission is slipping .-when u go from a low speed to a higher speed. i took it to dealership and they think it needed an update ?also,oil was leaking around transfer case;i noticed spots on concrete when parked and the liquid was clear. this car has literally been a hunk of junk!

My left rear signal burnt out. i thought it was the bulbs blown out but it wasn't. i am replacing the electrical board that connects to the wire.

Vehicle was in motion and all of a sudden loss of power, vehicle will not accelerate until you get off accelerator and then it will accelerate when you depress the pedal. has happened multiple times.

I got gas at a local gas station and as soon as i pulled out started to notice hesitation and jerking from the vehicle. pressing the gas i noticed it wasn’t shifting gears as good and engine light flashed but didn’t stay on. after 2 days the problem did not end and finally engine light was consistently on. i could notice the vehicle wasn’t driving as good in cruise control and would constantly jerk and vibrate. while the vehicle was not in motion a consistent jerk was present. i drive to work on the interstate and going up hills i began to notice a lag in the vehicle.

The engine ignition coils had gone bad, causing the car to break down while running errands in town during this covid situation. the car only had about 38,000 miles on it and i’m the original owner. i was able to get it into a dealer same day & they replaced a coil & spark plug- getting the car back on the road. they also replaced the stereo due to electrical problems. this cost was partially covered through my toyota care warranty. other problems:the transmission also has trouble finding the right gear when accelerating & often jerks or stalls. there is also a vibration/ rattle sound coming from the engine compartment in front of the passenger side. my dealership doesn’t want to help figure out the other problems, if the car is operating. they are clearly too busy to invest the necessary time & probably are receiving multiple complaints like mine. and i just read an article about fca are considering a full recall of the 2.4 tiger shark models. very disappointed in jeep quality and service.

When i was driving from a long road trip of over 600 miles the service transmission light went on then a the service engine light i was going up a small hill when this happen i lost power and my car did not want to go but when i put the car in park and turned it off to check under the hood i did not see nothing lose or leaking after about 10 minutes got back in turned the car on and the lights where gone and started to drive normal i still had about 400 miles to go and no problem. now on the way back 4 days later drove good for 450 miles no problems till the both lights came on at the same time and i had to pull over i did the same thing turned off the car and then back on after a few minutes the lights where off drove good for 100 miles then it came back on pulled over turned the car off and on and the light went off and i have not had a issue yet with it. i did not now you need it pictures or else i would have taken some 1st time filing a complaint

Cooling fan has been replaced twice in the last year and now on 3rd time going out

Took the jeep to dealer for pa state inspection . during the inspection it was revealed a problem with a rear disk brake. the inside pad has wore out do to not retracting. this jeep has a electric emergency brake. i feel that there is a problem with this system, causing it not to retract the inside pad. the pad a wore complely out damaging the disk. i had to have the rear brakes replaced. jeep has only 23000 miles on it. i believe an investigation into the electric emergency brake not working right. if not for my states yearly inspection law the problem world not have been known and could have caused an accident

Losing oil not getting 25,00 miles between oil changes car stalls and turns off until i get oil changed. also dashboard alerts for lights out or service warnings but the lights are not out.

Car stopped and totally shut off in the middle of an intersection. luckily a man stopped and pushed my car. i had to shut it off and restart it. this would have been potentially fatal in a busy intersection.

The esc, abs, steering torque control, 4wd, parking brake lights all came on. the dealer told me that a rodent had chewed the wiring for a rear wheel speed sensor because it has soy based insulation. the vehicle had been parked over night, but gets driven every day.

Vehicle alerts of low oil pressure when completing a tight turn or u-turn. after a few occurances of this, the engine turned of while driving on city streets. i pulled over, checked oil level and it was extremely low. changed the oil and a month later the alert reoccurred. checked oil and it was low. added oil to keep from repeat stalling. this seems to be very similar to the recall of the crack oil pump housing, nhtsa number 18v131000.

I was on my way home from work on july 15, 2020. i stopped to to fuel the car and continued on my route home. after about 1 1/2 miles, i was decelerating from exiting the spur 601 to make a right turn onto the marshall overpass, when all of the sudden the car lost power and started to shake really bad. the idle was extremely low and could make it up the hill and overpass. it didn’t stall, but nearly did several times while at a stop light. the car would shake badly when it reached 30 mph and again at 40 mph. took car to dealership next morning thinking it was bad fuel, but was found to be bad ignition coils. the coils were replaced, but issue with car nearly stalling while making turns or hesitation to accelerate after a stop is still present. my car is not part of any of the recalls, but is having the same issues that the majority of owners of these cars. although my car has not actually stalled yet, pretty close though, i’m afraid of it happening and someone crashing into me. i’m very cautious when pulling into traffic since it’s slow in acceleration. it performs poorly going through mountain ranges, especially when climbing. it also is jerky at times when shifting gears, especially after reaching around 30 mph. the car only has 32,000 miles and should be performing better than it is now. very disappointed with jeep.

Air conditioner stopped working for second time. 100 degrees here today.

The jeep was staionary. the fuel pump wouldn't come out of the car, leading to the car leaking gas everywhere and then wouldn't start. took the car back to jeep dealership, they replaced the fuel fuel tank filler. a week later the jeep is stationary and then when i turned on the car it wouldn't start and had a flashing lightning symbol and then gas started leaking everywhere from the bottom of the jeep. i bought this car brand new and only have had it for two years. i feel that i might have a lemon.

I was jumping ooff my gf car for the 10th time over a course of time, this time for some reason my jeep caught fire and now is totaled and it also caused her car to catch fire. so not only did it damage my jeep but damaged her car as well.

Vehicle seems to be slipping or missing. something is definitely wrong. purchased from carmax, called and had the car checked out thru they’re service department. they couldn’t find anything wrong. husband reset transmission but same problem exists. called local jeep dealership to check it out, they told me to take it back where i purchased. which i said i already had, he still said take it back to them, so they can take it to get it looked at. sounds like run around to me. can you help me?

My jeep has shut down three times while i was pulling into traffic, low oil pressure warning came on. i get my oil change regularly and i only have 25,000 miles on it. i took it to dealer and was told that my jeep is known for burning a lot of oil. what can i do, it scares me to drive it. please help!

My 2017 jeep renegade is not under the recall but it is doing the exact same thing as the recalled 2017 jeep renegade's ! i can not understand how my vehicle is not covered? this is extremely confusing and frustrating!! it is stalling and oil is leaking same recall as 4x4 and flexfuel renegades... my daughter was driving it and got stuck and it caused her heat exhaustion while waiting in vehicle for assistance! our city is in a heat advisory!!

At 14,024 miles, front brakes were making a grinding metal to metal noise whenever applied. my vehicle was inspected at an independent auto repair shop since i was told over the phone by the dealership service department that brakes are not under warranty due to regular wear and tear. (even though i purchased this vehicle new.) upon mechanical inspection, my front rotors (both sides) were deeply grooved but my brake pad was still at 90%thickness, although there seemed to be small chip at corner of brake pad. i agreed to have both front rotors resurfaced. then again, at 27,475 miles, the left side rotor had same repeated wear pattern. again, the left side rotor was measured for minimal thickness and resurfaced at an independent auto repair shop. pads, again, had good operating thickness and reinstalled.i have an appointment for an oil change this week and i am beginning to hear the grinding noise again! when is the jeep manufacturer going to assume responsibility for formulating a front brake pad material that grinds into the front brake rotors?? also refund repairs to consumers that have invested in their product and replace (at their cost), new front pads and new brake rotors...jeep, dodge and chrysler-your manufacturing quality is diminishing!!

Vehicle stalls out in the middle of driving on both streets and highways. code u18 was what came up with this particular problem. fear of loss of life due to stalling out is a major concern for me and my family.

You drive it it start to slow down and stop, then wellnt start again

Car is lagging and wobbly. loses power. completely shut off while driving. loss of all electrical screens. service engine light did not appear until after several times of car losing power.

Fog lights appeared brown and burned but bulbs still work fine. no longer clear glass.

When i turn the vehicle on and start driving, if i slow down and begin to accelerate it gives a warning stating low oil pressure and then the vehicle will stall while i'm driving. this happens when i am going anywhere from 15 to 20 miles per hour. the vehicle burned through 3 quarts of oil between oil changes. it also slams into gear when running low on oil.

Car is parked. it started with right rear door lock not locking with the key fob. we had to manually lock it from the inside. key fob seems to work with all other locks but now none of the doors are locking. you can hear the locks engaging when pressing the key fob to lock but the doors do not lock at all. *tr

When i started my jeep this morning it started shaking really bad and the service engine light came on. the shaking stop so i chanced it to work. it felt like it was losing power and would rattle a little. anytime i made a turn it felt like the jeeps tires were sliding. it’s taking a lot longer to pick up speed and seems to be forcing itself into gear. in the last few days though my lights have been flickering while driving and even the radio went out for a few hours. the outlets (old cigarette lighter outlets ) stop working too. don’t know if it’s related to the rest but it did oddly start in the same time frame. *tr

Engine light came on; took vehicle to dealer (have an chrysler?jeep factory extended warranty. i was informed that because the oxygen sensor harness was chewed by a rodent (probably a chipmunk) that the warranty would cover repair. i have since out that the sheathing for wires used by the manufacture is made from soybean oil or peanut based oil. i ask is this, my fault or the manufacturers fault? i did not nor would i put rodent food in a vehicle. if rodents chew brake lights , this could cause a fatal crash. the vehicle was stationary parked in my home driveway. i have the repair invoice and the chewed oxygen sensor w/harness. *tr

While driving at approximately 30 mph, the car jerks to shift into gear. the car has been at the service center 4 times for them to look into/address the issue. i've had endless hours on the phone with jeep/service center to get the car repaired. each time it's taken into the shop, they can't seem to get the same issue to occur. however, it happens to us on a daily basis. i basically have given up hope in jeeps addressing this issue as we've received no resolution years later. i've also been informed it's the operating system within the jeep being a 9 speed, but it didn't do this from the start, it occurred about a year after purchase.

Engine burns oil to the point to where it is unsafe to operate without constantly adding oil between scheduled oil change intervals. the engine feels like it is gasping for air after coming to a halt and then starting again(stop sign, making a left turn after yielding to oncoming traffic, etc.). additionally, the fog light housing on both sides is completed burned and melted. this lead me to believe that there is a wiring issue causing too much power to go to the bulbs or the recommended bulbs may be too hot. the engine issue has been ongoing through all 39,000 miles on it. the fog light housing concern was just discovered on 4/15/2020 however i’m sure the issue was prevalent before hand. many friends of mine with the same vehicle have also expressed both aforementioned concerns. *tr

I made a right hand turn and my vehicle just stopped. engine was still on but just quit moving i pressed the gas but no response. i turned the ignition of and back on and it started but then an service air bag warning came up on the dash. i can't believe an air bag warning would make the vehicle stop in traffic with no warning and no control.

While driving on a surface street i got a weird message that said car must be in park to shift gears. i turned into the nearest parking lot and then the car just stalled out. the car was still on but would not accelerate no power steering or anything. after coming to a complete stop i put the car in park turned it off and then tried to turn it back on and it stalled for 10-15 seconds then finally turned over. as many times as this has been reported why are there no recalls on this? to have your car cut off in the middle of the street while driving is definitely not ideal nor is it safe to say the least.

On 3 occasions since new my car has consumed all of it's oil. no warning lights or messages occur before this is realized. the only indicator is when turning a corner, a low pressure warning illuminates and power is cut to the engine, which leaves me unable to control the car. then upon checking the oil level, no oil registers on the dipstick. i've gotten regular oil changes at 7500 mile intervals as reminded by the onboard system. the oil is fully gone by about 6000 miles or less.

Vehicle has 14000 miles, has stalled six times in 13 months. most recently, driving less than one block away, made a right turn into a parking lot and lost all power, dash instructions stated that vehicle must be in p to shift gears. i was not shifting gears. vehicle had to be shut off, would not restart until attempted three times. the recall does not include my vehicle but absolutely should as it is the exact same issue as the recalled jeep renegades. this is extraordinarily dangerous to everyone on the road. i have taken my jeep to the dealership multiple times, they tell me they can't find the issue or that it needs an oil change again. my owner's manual states that the vehicle will tell me when it needs an oil change, dealership says not to follow the manual, to change the oil every 1,000 miles. this is the most serious of the issues i have had with this vehicle but have had numerous parts replaced in the first year of ownership of a brand new vehicle. purchased brand new at $27000, now worth $14000 and i cannot even drive it without risking stalling at highway speed. it appears that this is pretty significant issue for other owners of this vehicle, why is nothing being done? hopefully it won't take fatalities to widen the scope of the recall of this vehicle.

The engine will stall in traffic or go down the road. this was happened about four to five time in the last week. there is recalls on the 4wd but not the 2wd. this will create a crash for these models. this is very dangerous and need to be looked into.

Purchased the renegade brand new and have had it stall several times. brought it to the local jeep dealership and they said they are unaware of the issue. got the oil changed and not even 2,000 miles later stalled again and when i checked the oil, it was empty. this is a huge if not imperative safety issue for someone to be driving down the interstate for a vehicle with 54,000 miles now to just stall. this is appalling that this issue has not been addressed and or recalled. is it going to take casualties to get something done? the first time it stalled the oil light cane on as i was stopped at a stop sign. the next was driving down the same street at the same stop sign. recently i was driving on a busy street and thankfully there were no cars behind me and was able to get to the side of the road.

When i am driving my 2017 jeep renegade, which has an automatic transmission, the car will occasionally stall while the car is moving. a message will show on the dash that says “shift vehicle to park” or something along those lines. i will go from driving normally, to having 0 rpms while i’m still moving. i turn the car off. i wait a minute. i try to start the car and it won’t start, it just keeps cranking. eventually, and after many failed attempts and fear of ruining the starter, i manage to get the car started, but barely. when it does finally start, i wait a few seconds and am then able to drive again normally. this has happened more than several times now in the past year. it is also worth noting that i schedule my vehicle for regular oil changes as recommended, but i often get an oil pressure low warning, sometimes right before the vehicle stalls. i often have to add quarts of oil to my vehicle, even with regular oil changes. i drive an average of 12,000 miles a year and i do not abuse my vehicle. when researching my problem i came across two remarkably similar issues in other 2017 jeep renegades. these two recalls do not show up when i check my vehicle’s vin against active recalls. it seems like more than a coincidence and i am asking that you broaden your scope for this issue in jeep renegades, because i or my family could be in danger while driving.

Recently, as i was driving, vehicle would stall whenever i would hit my brakes and ask me to shift into park (p), causing me to have to restart my car. engine would take quite a few seconds to fire/restart before i was able to drive it again. it would also vibrate quite badly and be unable to go any higher than 40mph or 1500rpm until i restarted my car. it would not allow me to accelerate at all until i restarted. this happens every time i drive the car and has been happening for about a week.

Driving down the highway going 65 mph, engine just stalled/died. i lost power steering, brake felt like a brick, i had no control whatsoever. was able to coast to the shoulder without getting into an accident. took 3-4 attempts to get the engine restarted. before, during and after this happened there were no indicator lights on the dash that there was a problem.

My son was driving home - city street - it was snowing and icy - the car stalled out and he swerved to the right jumped the curb and ran into a pole and tree.*dt*tp i have read several complaints for this vehicle in stalling out as well as recalls. the issue is supposedly repaired but it comes back doing the same thing. due to this accident this has caused us to have body work to be done as well as other issues. the most important issue is my son could have been killed.*jb *dt*tp

Cooling fan failure while driving under normal conditions, problem reported and diagnosed by dealer. they indicated would be ok to drive until next scheduled service interval. car overheated was returned to dealer for repair and concluded not a warranty issue which is unfair due to the amount of these failures reported on the internet. attached invoice of $ 817.63 in repairs we have unfairly had to pay.

My 2017 jeep renegade has stalled multiple times while driving and also while stopping in traffic. the car just stops and i get a warning about shifting to park and starting, which is dangerous in traffic. when trying to restart, the starter is very slow and will eventually start again. all scheduled maintenance and oil changes have been regularly made. this is a vehicle safety ssue that needs nvestigating.

2017 jeep renegade trailhawk 4x4 with 35000 miles. stalled twice on me in the last two days. both times i was going less than 15mph turning onto a street. engine just died and it told me to put in in park. i did and the first time it started again after some sputtering. second time it took several attempts before the car would start. also, the low oil pressure indicator comes on randomly for a split second sometimes when i turn the vehicle. i had the same problem about 8 months ago. i took it to the dealer and they told me the transmission computer needed to be updated. they did that and it seemed to fix the issue until it happened again this week. i am taking it to the dealer again tomorrow and asking them to check the oil pump to see if it is cracked even though my specific jeep is not on the recall list.

I was driving my jeep renegade and it just cut off in the middle of me driving for no reason, the only thing that it showed on the dash was you must put your car in park to shift. there were no warning lights or anything. i took it to the jeep dealer they plugged it in said there are no codes it's fine. i left went across the street to work. when i left i pulled out into traffic and it cutoff. i got it started after a few tries and started on my way to the dealership. when i went to pull in it cutoff again. service plugs it in, no codes, he wanted me to drive it home and come back in the morning. i'm like it cutoff twice in traffic, your keeping it. he calls this morning says it needs a new motor there wasn't any oil in it. then he calls back later says chrysler says i have to do an oil consumption test and that they are designed to cutoff if there is no oil pressure. what if i was going 70 down the interstate and it cutoff. what if my 16 year old daughter was driving it and it cutoff. in looking up problems with this vehicle it is a known fact and happens all the time. how can they sell a vehicle that just shuts off when it feels like it with no warning or warning lights.

I had just left for work today, driving on the street, when 2017 jeep renegade desert hawk suddenly stalled i was able to coast to the side of the road. a message came on the dashboard with instruction to put the vehicle in park and press start button. i did so and the engine tried to start, but didn't. tried a second time and engine sputtered and eventually started. low oil pressure light has also been flashing on when making quick turns. only stays on a couple of seconds. this then happened again after i had just left work. purchased vehicle new, i'm the only driver and it has 20,500 miles. about a year ago, the same happened. i told the dealer shop, when i was getting an oil change, about this issue. they said nothing was wrong with the vehicle. this issue occurs when i first start it in the morning and when it has been sitting awhile and i start it (like when i go home from work).

Started having problems with the car shifting very hard at random times and at various speeds while driving. dealer said there was no problem the first time we had it inspected and could not reproduce it at the shop. we continued to have these problems and started to hear our valves knocking so we checked to oil. the oil was two quarts low and barely on the dip stick. we were only midway through oil change and we only service our car at the dealer. we took car to dealer and they said that using a quart of oil every 2000 miles is normal. it may be normal for this car but it is not normal for any car we have ever owned. it is unacceptable that they did not inform us at oil changes that we were having trouble maintaining our oil levels. this would eventually cause our car engine to fail and create a safety hazard while driving as the engine could turn off from lack of oil. this is unacceptable for jeep to keep this manufacturing defect a secret because the research i have done has shown that this is a systemic problem with this vehicle.

Driving down i-95 at a speed of 65 car begins to slow down even while im accelerating, was able to pull car over and once i got on shoulder i cut car off to see if that would help, car would not turn back on at all. had to get towed to the dealer which they said it was the fuel pump, they fixed the problem only for the same thing to be happening a month later, the car keep doing hard jerks and not wanting to accelerate. i can be in drive and the car will tell me im in park or just shut off on me

My check engine light came on and my engine started overheating. the radiator cooling fan just stopped working for no reason. it also blew out the relay amd fuse. i was told that this is out of warranty and a new fan assembly needs to be installed. the jeep is only two years old and has 39,232 miles on it. after researching this is i find out that at least 66 other 2017 jeep remegade owners have had their radiator fans go out at 40,000 miles. this isn't an isolated issue and the part has to be recalled. chrystler and jeep are unhelpful and unwilling to admit to the problem.

My 2017jeep renegade burns oil and it has ever since i got it. well before the scheduled time to get an oil change, the oil runs so low my car will start dying and stalling randomly and then the low oil pressure light will come on. i have taken it for service twice about this same issue and both times the problem was overlooked, i was given an oil change and sent on my way being told it's "normal" for my 2017 vehicle to burn oil. it happened to me again this morning, so i was forced to add two quarts of oil in the middle of the road to get to work. i feel like taking it for servicing will do me no good, as i am not being heard. this is not normal, but nobody with jeep is listening or acknowledging this issue.

Ever since the beginning of november 2019, my renegade has been stalling when i am in the middle of driving. it started out to be a couple of times but it now does it every time i turn it on and drive. it has stalled on me when i have been in the middle of busy roads and has almost caused accidents. i notice that it will stall if i am turning a corner or if i have just started it up and driving off within the first few minutes. i know there are a lot of complaints by other 2017 renegade owners but i have the deserthawk edition and i haven't seen anything for my model. i take very good care of it and it is only a couple of years old. the stalling problem that i am having seems to only be getting worse.

Loss of power when driving for a few seconds.took it to the shop 3 times the 3 times came back the same.

Vehicle has stalled twice now. once on a mountain road around a danger curb and also on a highway. luckily, both times was able to pull to side of the road. it always starts back up but extremely terrified to drive it. brought to jeep dealership and they can not find a problem. also, oil light comes on regularly now with low oil. burning a lot of fuel. i know for a fact i am not the only one experiencing this issues. they are all over the internet. my wife has a renegade as well and her's stalled out once. i feel like jeep is not taking this seriously. someone will get killed if this keeps happening.

While driving down the road jeep flashes all lights on dashboard and just shuts down. doesn't matter where you are or how fast you are going, just powers down and you have to figure out how to roll off the road out of traffic. had it to the dealership several times for the same thing, keep getting told this is "normal" and i should change my synthetic oil at 4,000 miles and this shouldn't happen

Bought a car on november 1st they did an oil change it is low on oil now and it's november 21 2019 car only has 24465 miles

I have had my car just under 2 year, purchased new. when purchasing the car i asked if they would install a remote start and was told to just take it to car toys. we did almost a year later. we are at 1 yr 10 mths and just over 26,00 miles. just recently the car stated stalling in the middle of traffic. i would have to put it in park to be able to start going again and then it lags to get going and quits shifting. the check engine light comes on and stays on. sometimes it flashes though several errors, too fast to read them all. i have had the car in to the original dealer 3 times and another dealer once. i was told it needed a computer update, the wiring harness needed fixed and other things. they said it was fixed the first3 times. this last time they are telling me it is the after market starter, they think. they cannot guarantee it will fix the problem but now they are saying nothing is under warranty. the after market starter has been on there 11 months without issue. the first time this happened was 9/26.19. the current date is 11/13/19. this is a safety issue. most times i have small children but have been luck to be by myself each time the car has stalled.

Pulls to passenger side the wheels were cockeyed the dealer refuses to fix it correctly the dealer left two brand new ones on the front and almost wore off tires on the back and they had to put brand new brakes and rotors on the car because it started making really really bad sounds they don't want to fix it and i think they kirk and safety recalls on this car i think they did said they fix them so they can get it off the carfax to sell the car just keep in mind this car only has 24,464 on it and i'm a single dad i filled it i'm getting screwed around buy a multi billion dollar company frank fletcher ford joplin missouri

I've noticed over the past few weeks my jeep seems hesitant shifting gears, especially going from reverse to drive. this is an automatic transmission. last week, after backing put of the driveway and starting down the road, the vehicle stalled and read "park vehicle to shift". i had to stop in the middle of the road, and turn the car off twice and restart it in order to get her going again. luckily, as embarrassing as it was, the vehicles waiting on me were very polite and patient. this happened again yesterday evening. i backed out of my parking spot and turned onto the road. the vehicle stalled out and read "park vehicle to shift". i again turned the car off and went to turn it on. she sputtered and sputtered and the ect light popped up on the dash before she finally turned over and the light went away. i was going out of town that night and i was a little nervous about getting stranded. i did make it back home, but the next morning, she did the same thing. i made it down the street this time and she stalled out while i was stopped at the stop sign before turning 9nto a 4 lane highway. good thing she stalled out before i had pulled onto the highway. i followed suit and had to restart her once or twice and she sputtered and sputter which just broke my heart. my fuel was low this morning and we limped over to the gas station, she was shifting weird the entire time. i didn't turn her off because i was afraid she may not have turned back on. after getting gas, she started to run more smooth but she still hesitates to shift.

According to the dealer i must check my oil every 1k miles to check the oil level. this is about the 3rd time my car has stopped in the middle of traffic. when i call the dealer all they say is did you check your oil. the last time this happened was on sun, nov 3, 2019. why are companies allowed to sell products they are fully aware have defects, to turn around and make it the consumers responsibility.

The 2.4 lt engine is consuming oil at an accelerated rate. about 2.5 qts every 1000 miles. at times this causes the car to stall when accelerating and turning into traffic. this has been ongoing since the car was purchased and before the first scheduled oil change. the deal is recommending replacing the engine after 3-4 services. the dealership has us bringing the car into for service topping off the oil and having us report back every 1000 miles.*dt

Car hesitated at the beginning i take foot off gas n it like skips or thumps hard to explain but kinda like the gas peddle sticks then lets go with a crank sound mainly when low on gas but every now n then for no reason im short so i dont like just let go in a hurry,no one takes me serious been in shop like foiur times they said i got a fuel modual recal replacement but im not sure why this continues to happen

Vehicle turned off after stopping at a stop sign and then depressing the gas pedal to begin moving again. had to shift vehicle to park and attempt to start several times before it started.

Engine cooling fan was replaced at 50 thousand miles, codes show that that is malfunctioning the transmission threw codes dead battery. it locks up and doesn’t want to start even after replacing the battery.their was two different sensors that threw a code. i’ve gotten a message to service the airbags.on everything i have told you the car was sitting still. except on the transmission, when it goes from 3rd gear to passing gear it shifts really hard. and it feels like it’s going to stall out. i maintain regular oil changes .average of 1 per month. it’s been well taken care of. at 50 thousand miles it started having a lot of little things go wrong. i feel like i bought a lemon and no one is willing to admit it.

While in motion, the transmission clunks randomly into a gear or, and sometimes miss shifts. when in sport mode, transmission won’t shift whether shifted up or down leaving the car at speed dangerous in traffic.

Airbag service is on and don't know what caused it. there has been no damage to my vehicle. the engine is using up a lot of oil in a very short amount of time. 2000 miles after my oil change i discovered that my engine has no oil left in it and my gas is being depleted at a very fast rate

Cooling fan failure. fuse blew on fan and led to rapid spike in coolant temperature. led to p0481 check engine light code. replaced blown fan fuse but fan cycles on and off and seems to be wobbling or have bearing problems. based on searches, this is a common problem on the jeep renegade but chrysler has not issued a recall for 2017 years.

While driving on 8/30/19 my vehicle stalled twice and made a weird electrical sound when trying to start again . both times i was stopped at a stop sign on the street getting ready to turn

Engine was running and gas pedals was pressed to the floor but the car did not accelerate and the rpm did not increase. pull to the side of the highway and exit; was able to accelerate at low speeds on city streets only. problem was intermittent.

Low oil pressure light flashed on. checked oil when got home and it was 2.5 quarts low. had the oil changed 5,000 miles ago. it only has 16,000 miles on the vehicle. previous oil change showed over a quart low as well.

This is related to nhtsa recall 18v731000. temperatures have been high in august and the vehicle sputters while in park, in drive, in motion, at red lights, while accelerating, while decelerating or simply cruising at steady rate in town or highway speeds. it has been consistent for two to three tank fills of gas (mid and premium grade). the air filter was recently replaced and looks normal. we discovered the recall mentioned above and the symptoms certainly seem similar.

Took my car to the dealer twice, first they told me it was my new tires. this time they told me it a rear drive axle module chrysler know about it and trying to find a fix.i have had to deal with this noise problem for over a year, with them looking at me like i don't know what i'm talking about.the noise gets louder and louder the faster i go. have not been able to go on the freeway without sounding like my tires are going to fall off. i had to replace my tires because the rear ones wore out in the middle of the tread on both rear tires could this be because of the problem?

Vehicle at first was not turning on then the following day on my way to work it stalled in the highway i was pressing the gas but it just wouldn’t accelerate. it was extremely dangerous could have cause an accident. just on side note i just bought this car from a used car dealership about 2 months ago

I have had to take in my vehicle to our dealership twice within 2 months on the same issue. the car has been sputtering at idle and also when accelerating. when the car is traveling in between 25-30mph the transmission gets a hard kick, it almost feels as if you are getting hit from behind. they have replaced the throttle body, ignition coil, spark plug wires, and spark plugs. the vehicle is under 32,000 miles and is mostly driven in town, i feel it is unsafe to drive out of town because it shakes violently when traveling at 65mph or higher.

I have been saving for ever to buy the card of my dream: a jeep renegade and i finally got it. i have been driving for thirty-five years and not even a parking ticket and with the same insurance for fourteen year (geico). one evening on my way to the supermarket and while making a left, i felt as if the vehicle was not moving, i kept pressing on the gas and it slide very slowly, and boom! i was hit on the back on the passenger side by an old pick truck. (a left in az, you are negligent). what a nightmare! the police taking the report was something that i could not explain, him talking and laughing with the young men that hit me as if he knew the relatives that came to aid. i called my insurance for a tow truck and they were unable because their computers were updating. i just knew that i was not negligent, and i was right. i received a safety recall for jeep renegade 2017 from the fca stating that a loss of fuel pressure may lead to an engine stall resulting in a sudden loss of motive power, which may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. remedy: all of the involve vehicles must have the fuel pump module replaced. to get an appointment at more chrysler to see if they had the part for the car it was a hassle, a lady at the service department had no idea if they had anything and finally today, i call several agencies i had idea existed (8/12/2019). did i get an attorney? unless there is death, dismemberment, diu an the such there is no case. my intact driving record is damage (that is another story of what i went through), i have floating ribs and pain in all parts of my body. i am grateful to be alive. the very least i want is vindication for my driving record. how?

Changing gears is sometime not very smooth. the car seem to jerk or jump in to gear. it does not do this all the time just occassionally.

Takata recall my 2017 jeep renegade seems to do this jerk / stalling thing while driving. especially when the fuel level starts to get low. while running my car has this loud noise coming from the engine. i remember seeing smoke come from the engine and i only had the car for a year if that.

Gas pedal/acceleration will not engage when vehicle is in reverse, in a certain circumstance. this happens every time after i first start the vehicle, place it in reverse, and coast/roll backwards (out of my driveway, into the road, into traffic). slamming my foot on the gas pedal results in no acceleration, so i just roll slowly into the road. vehicle will accelerate normally after i then shift to drive. not being able to quickly accelerate in reverse when leaving for work every morning is an obvious safety concern. i took this to my dealership, and they were able to replicate the issue. they then tested this issue on 2016 renegade, 2017 renegade, and 2018 renegade. the 2016 and 2017 renegades had this same issue. the 2018 renegade reportedly did not have this issue. my dealership spoke with a jeep engineer that has investigated this issue before, and tried replacing the entire transmission system as a solution. that didn't fix the issue, so the engineer claims that it's "working as designed." clearly it's designed unsafely. i have included my dealership's notes indicating that they were able to reproduce the issue and my (and other) renegades. and that they ended up diagnosing this as "issue is normal no problem found."

This 2.4l multi-air engine consumes excessive amounts of oil. there is no "low pressure" indication unless the motor is a couple quarts low and hard cornering or stopping, and in those circumstances the engine stalls out. this first occurred a couple of months after purchase, the dealership gave me a tsb printout recommending i keep a quart of oil on hand. since then every oil change i have been low and i've added about one quart per thousand miles like the tsb indicates but it is starting to consume it worse. when i purchased this vehicle i was told that oil changes were substantially further apart and the vehicle would let me know when to do so, yet there is no indication that i am low or out. i am afraid it is going to blow the engine on this vehicle. *dt see attachment testimony is more than 2,000 characters.*jb

Extreme oil consumption, which can cause the oil to go unusually low, causing stalls at speed. after some online researching, this appears to be a larger issue that jeep has not yet acknowledged. i had my oil changed at the dealership on 4/20/19, and i've gone just about 3k miles since then. i started stalling while driving, and checked the oil, and it was pretty much bone dry. 5.5 quarts of oil gone in 3 months/3k miles (note - the jeep recommended interval is: "based on engine operation conditions, the oil change indicator message will illuminate in the instrument cluster", in other words, there is no recommended interval for normal driving, you are to rely on the oil change indicator light to alert you. for "severe duty", i.e.: the vehicle is operated in a dusty and off road environment or is operated predominately at idle or only very low engine rpm’s, jeep recommends oil changes at 4k miles. this is the 2nd time i have experienced this issue with this vehicle. the first time, after some scary stalls (at speed, the vehicle loses all power and needs to be restarted, and the change oil indicator comes on), i brought it in for service, and was told that i just must've burned through a lot. now i know that is not the case. other than being an inconvenience (having to constantly check oil on a two year old vehicle), this is a safety issue. the vehicle just stalls out, dies, and the indicator light comes on. at speed, this could be deadly. from researching online, i found that you need to ask for an oil consumption test at the dealership. many are getting engines replaced as a result. i am going to schedule another appointment with the dealer and see what they can find.

Every time i turn my vehicle on and the a/c unit is on my car begins to make a squealing sound. this happens when i’m at a stop light or idling and i have my air conditioner on.

We have our oil changed regularly at the same place as soon as the oil change light comes on or we meet the mileage listed on the last oil change sticker, whichever comes first. we had the oil changed may 14, 2019 and drove maybe 2500 miles since that date. lastnight my husband and kids were in the car suddenly it stalled and the low oil pressure light came on. the unit then was fine and started back up with no issues, then this morning the same thing. he called the dealer we got it at and they got it in right away. said it was showing very little oil, but no visible leaks. im sorry i understand wanting to save an engine but what about lives if it stalls and causes an accident. also if the oil is that low, why did the oil change light not come on. to me this showing numerous reports and issues and nothing is being done. why chrysler. is it going to take a death and law suit for you to care about your consumers and their safety?!? im thinking about contacting a lawyer as now my kids are afraid to ride in the vehicle.

Auto trans, periodically on same trip, coasting down speed, clicking noise @28mph mostly but other speeds does it too. had to dealer yesterday, reprogrammed module transmission control (tcm) and drive train control module (dtcm) started around 17000 miles (current mileage 19,500). took short drive today, and 1 click at 25mph while stopping at stop sign. back to work tomorrow and i will start noting the clicks.

As i was driving my 2017 jeep renegade, after i turned, my car wouldn't accelerate and a message came up to put my car in gear (it was in drive). luckily i was able to coast and pull over. my car keep telling me to put my car in gear, so i put the car in park and pressed the ignition button but nothing happened. then a message came up to start my car with the key fob. i touched the key fob to the ignition button and it started again. i was able to drive it the rest of the day, but it wasn't shifting properly. as it shifted, it would jerk into gear. that was on saturday, october 19th. today, october 23rd, after i turned my car shut off again. the same thing happened my car keep telling me to put my car in gear, so i put the car in park and pressed the ignition button but nothing happened. then a message came up to start my car with the key fob. i touched the key fob to the ignition button and tried to start it again but the engine wouldn't turn over. it took 5 tries to start my car again.

Car loses power while driving . this has happened 5 times withing 48 hours. one incident i was driving 60 mph on highway and the car lost power and i almost got rear ended by a truck. also oil pressure light came on twice for a second while turning corners and then went off. i had my oil changed and is not over miles. i am not sure if these two issues are linked,

During various instances after starting the car in a stationary mode, the instrument panel gave warning of various lighting systems not working in random succession. right turn signal, left turn signal, parking light out, daytime running light out. this will go on for 30 seconds or more before it corrects itself. i also have had multiple experiences while in motion the warning safety lights/signals on the side mirrors become temporarily unavailable for no reason.

Jeep quits for no apparent reason while driving down the road. no dash lights come to indicate a problem.can't drive the car because scared of getting into an accident. this has happened at least 5 times over the last 2 weeks

After about one & 1/2 yrs from buying jeep...brand new, it started shifting gears really hard. this seems to occur at 29-32 mph, it feels like the transmission is slipping and the jeep will jerk very hard.

Driving on 95 doing about 60 miles per hour car slowed down with my foot on the gas pedal. while driving my dash board flashes to put my car in gear. once i was able to get on the shoulder and cut car off it would not cut back on. i could have died or killed someone else. this is unacceptable currently waiting for road side assistance. this is very very scary and just to have my 60k services completed on september 21st and 28th 2019 and just had brakes done on october 10th 2019. now i can understand why the dealership has been calling, emailing and sending letters in the mail harassing me about selling my car back to them. all everyone has to do is be honest and say hey there may be an issue with your vehicle and you may want to get out of it now

Was on a highway doing about 67 mph and i felt a loss of power but still had my foot on the gas pedal. from there the renegade started puttering and stalling. had half a tank of gas. almost felt like it was running out of gas

I was driving when all of a sudden my car started losing power. the display read "put car in desired drive mode" and then changed to "low oil pressure". at this point my car was stopped in the middle of the road. i could shift gears but it did nothing to resolve the problem. i pressed the start/stop ignition to completely shut off my car. i gave it a minute before trying to start it again. even when i attempted to start the car it took a bit to get it to turn over. it had been just over 2 months since my last oil change so i thought that it was odd that i had low oil pressure. i made an appointment at my local dealership. after inspecting my car they noticed that i had no oil in my car. the mechanic that pulled the dipstick said it was smoking when he pulled it out because it was so dry. they did an oil change and told me that the 2.4l engines in the 2017 renegade tend to burn oil faster than other engine models. i was told to come back in 500 miles so that they could check my oil. fast forward 2 weeks and i hit 500 miles. i made my appointment and took my car into the dealership. they checked my engine and ran a consumption test. in 500 miles i burned through 2quarts of oil. my renegade made it to 27,392 miles before this issue. i was being told that i would get a new motor. they had my car for about 5 days and i now have a new motor. but it is still a 2.4l, so what is to say this won't happen again? this is the second chrysler product that i had to get a new motor before 30,000 miles due to a factory defect. the other was for a 2013 dodge dart. i no longer trust chrysler products.*dt*jb

Will be driving and vehicle will shut off while driving. once it shuts off you have to put it in park and restart the vehicle back up. this has happened numerous times and even in intersections and on the interstates. the vehicle has been in the dealership for the same issue 20 times.

I bought 2017 jeep renegade 1/2018. first 6-9 months ran good no issues noticed. when i reached approx. 28k miles, the jeep started severe hard shifting with a clunk & car jerk anytime i was driving in speed range of 27-32 mph. over next 5 mos. 10/2018–feb/mar 2019, i took my jeep to same dealer purchased/serviced 5 different times. each time same complaint of hard shift 27-32mph. this sporadically happens with no rhyme or reason to when only that it occurs during that speed range. i could be accelerating or coasting in town to decelerate and will happen. i filed a formal complaint to jeep chryselr 1/2019 after 3rd dealer service visit not resolved. dealer every time said all normal, no transmission issues. now both dealer & jeep insist hard shifting is normal claiming it is an electronic transmission that has a “clutch” engagement around that speed and normal to feel when it engages or disengages. both dealer & jeep claim this is also common and more noticeable when it reaches colder weather but refuse to acknowledge any issues. i advised my jeep didn’t do this first few months when bought new during winter season jan 2018, but still i am told by both dealer & jeep that this is normal. i still have the problem today and no one has resolved. now they just say nothing they can do. i even stopped driving distances may-july afraid to go over my 36k warranty. i am getting close to my 36k warranty exp. now and asked for one last time to please figure out the hard shifting issues before something happens. i won’t even let my 3 teen driving children behind wheel of the jeep for fear that the hard shift & car jerks would potentially cause them to have an accident. i owe too much for trade-in value so am stuck with a new jeep that has insane shifting issues and jeep will not acknowledge, take ownership, or recall to fix even after multiple consumer reviews show same issue

Car would not give gas and completely stalled out on me, and cut off!! it would not turn back on for several minutes. i almost got reamed by a large dump truck because this happened in the middle of a back windy road!! also, my car is slipping out of gear from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd! dealership tells me i was almost out of oil???? how can this be? i get regular oil changes, and funny thing is, they always tell me i'm low!!?? i'm first owner, purchased in november 2017! only have 36,000 miles! now dealership telling me this is "normal" for renegade? why wasnt i informed before purchasing!!! this is a major sadety hazard! i was almost seriously injured, the dump truck screached to a halt by a matter of inches!!!!

My 2017 jeep renegade stalled on the highway. i took it to my jeep dealership and after only two years they have to replace the engine. i always did the oil maintenance as recommended. i have found there are numerous complaints from other owners of that same year having the same engine issues. there are 5 pages of complaints on car complaints.com. this is so upsetting to me since i could have been in a serious crash when my renegade stalled on the highway while in motion. why wasn’t there a recall??

Vehicle stalls without warning or error message. generally when starting on a steep hill or when accelerating quickly from stop as in when entering a freeway onramp. i drive mostly in the city with lots of hills. vehicle does start back up, but tends to be more prone to stalling once its happened. i think it may be linked to oil pressure since that message did come up once of the 20 times its happened. when oil is topped off it doesn't seem to happen, but there is no warning about oil being low or low pressure generally. i looked this up on a jeep renegade forum and it appears a bunch of people have had the issue. 2018 versions of this vehicle appear to have a recall in effect for 2 different issues that sound identical to what im experiencing. my guess is that the current recalls should apply to my vehicle as well. id mainly like to make you aware of the issue, but also get any update about whether a recall for my vehicle is likely as id rather not pay for these repairs out of pocket as they seem complex.

Cooling fan failure. cooling fan is rattling and inconsistent. leads to overheating. limited fca "customer satisfaction recall" (v54) does not cover all affected vehicles.

While driving the vehicle down a city street, with parked cars on either side (at approximately 18 miles per hour) and in a nearly straight line, all of the airbags deployed causing severe injury to the driver which required multiple surgeries. black box data shows a roll over incident from one of the sensors. the vehicle did not roll over, nor did it hit a curb, the vehicle is in pristine condition except for the deployed airbags which deployed spontaneously. it is believed that this occurred due to either programming error (as has happened in the recalled jeep grand cherokees) or a defective sensor from the factory. fca usa was put on notice of this incident and, to date, has taken no steps to view the vehicle which we have preserved. *dt *dt *dt *dt*jb *tr*dt*jb*dt*dt*dt *js *js *dl*dt*dt *tp*jb

The 2017 wont turn off after you turned on and all the panel light malfunction. the car only turn off if i unplug the battery. according with the warranty of the car passed state law and it cant be replace which i think is crazy since any malfunction can happen and cause an accident. also the jeep wont turn off . the dealer doesnt know hot to fixed since no code is giving. i am afraid of using the car for my own safety and family, and all i want is a replacement.

My vehicle runs out of oil prior to my oil change. randomly while driving and making left or right turns, my low oil pressure notice will pop on and disappear and then stall on me. was told by my the dealer that this is related to pressure consumption.

Oil consumption issues. car shuts off while driving without any warning. this almost caused me to be involved in a car crash. this occurred three times within 24 hours with my car. took the car to jeep service and the attendant stated that this car "consumes 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles" and that i should call corporate. when i brought the car to jeep it was out of oil with no warning of a need for an oil change or that i was low on oil. when i bought this car from the dealership i was not made aware that i would need to change the oil this often and that this car "consumes" this much oil requiring constant service. it is also not stated in the owners manual. the issue with this car could cause a horrible collision, as while the car is in motion it completely turns off the engine. when this happened to me i was in the middle of a turn and when i pressed the gas to accelerate the car just rolled because the engine was shut off and i had no power steering. as this occurred another car was coming, luckily they had a stop sign.

While i'm driving down the highway my car starts to feel like it is cutting off. so i have to push on the gas in hope that it will stop it from cutting off. it does cut off going down a street and cars have to swerve from hitting me and people are blowing their horns and me and hitting their brakes so that they don't hit me. i had a baby in the car with me. this is something that has been going on for months. this car is not safe at all for no one. it had a recall and it was supposed to be fixed but it's not. it have already been to 4 dealerships and they all say it's fixed they are coming up with something new all the time. this car has scared me.

We bought a 2017 jeep renegade in september 2017. our renegade has a very hard shift problem and makes a loud clunk sound around the 25-30mph range...it hits so hard that it feels like someone hit you in the back of the car while driving. we had our car serviced 3 times at the dealership for this problem and it still continues. when we went back for the 3rd time on may 24th, the service advisor told us that it wasn't throwing any codes so they didn't know what to do to fix it. he also informed us that this was a big problem with the renegades and all they could do was to flash a software update even though he knows it will not fix the problem. another tech said "is your car still under warranty?" we said yes, it only has 32,000 miles on it. he said to the other tech, we should just put a whole new transmission in the thing. the other tech said, if we do that, it will just be putting the same kind of transmission back in it (9 speed transmission) which would eventually have the same problem. we were told that most people just want to try to trade the car in for something else. the service tech advised us to talk with a sales person. so while talking with the sales person, she tried to get us into a certified used car. we bought a new car for a reason, to not end up with some else's problems with a used car. then we ask to speak to the manager. he told us that any car he put us in would just have the same transmission and possibly the same problems. the manager actually told us that we would just be better off trading it in at another dealership. we went to the subaru dealership to speak with them about trading it in and they only wanted to offer us a trade in value of $10,000 when we still owe $15,000. it just doesn't seem fair that no one at the jeep dealership is willing to help its customers when they clearly know they have sold many customers faulty vehicles.

Purchased 4/20/2017 the problems began with the ac going out at 10000miles. the dealership didn't want to fix it told us to drive with the windows down. after arguing about our warranty we got a loaner. next they replaced the wiring harness 2 times. again, did not want to provide loaner had to complain for them to honor warranty agreement. then transmission skips and radio frequency hub was replaced twice while in the shop for 4 months from dec 14 2018 till around march 17 2019. steering module replaced due to the steering wheel in the center getting completely hot. complained about the transmission skipping still. check engine light always comes on. automatic start faulty. will attach all repair invoices. most recent! 5/6/2019, a monday the car was scheduled due to a recall on the fuel pump and the automatic start would not work. along with that when the car started the screen would flash warning signs: emergency break system, airbag system warning. the service department claimed to not have a loaner. however, friday 5/10/2019 i had not received a call back and on my way to take my daughter to school. the emergency breaks locked up while driving 70 mph down fm 1289 heading to port o'connor, texas from port lavaca, texas. i went straight to the dealership and demanded a loaner. the vehicle is clearly a lemon! however larry taylor, a service technician, told us "i value my life i would not drive this vehicle". paul perez service department manager said "i wouldn't put my family in that vehicle." then they demanded we bring the loaner back 5/17/2019 to pick up our vehicle. the vehicle according to them had a short circuit, this is the second time mind you, and made the emergency breaks engage and the seat belts malfunction. also, the airbags malfunctioned flashing warning as the breaks locked up. i could only select 3 options but seat belts needs to be checked.

I purchased my 2017 jeep renegade brand new at the end of january 2018. i was told to bring my car in at 5000 miles for an oil change. right before my oil change was due, while driving in a parking lot, i made a turn and saw a low engine pressure light and then my engine turned off while driving. my husband & i met with the jeep dealer and the shop manager said the engine was just "breaking in" and used up the oil. this wasn't something we had heard of before. they did an oil consumption test and after all that was done, they said it was fine and it wouldn't happen again. i've taken my car in like clock-work to have the oil changed. this week, with still 300 miles to go until my next oil change, my low oil pressure light came on and my car turned off while driving down a hill on a busy main road. the dealership is telling me again "this car just uses oil". they confirmed i was 2.5 quarts low. we have 2 renegades in the family, my daughter's 2015 renegade that we bought in 2017 with only 2500 miles on it doesn't have this problem. i am now getting a second oil consumption test run. this is dangerous and scary. i see there was a recall on 2017 jeep renegades for a cracked oil pump issue. my car is not included in that yet it has the same symptoms. i bought a brand new car so that i wouldn't have "used car" issues. this is unacceptable and i'm getting nervous my car will just turn off and i will be in an accident the next time as i've been lucky so far.

Vehicle in motion, pull out of parking lot at low speed malfunction indicators lights indicated loss of turn signals and brake lights, stopped at gas station to check lights refueled upon starting vehicle no malfunctions were indicated.

The check engine light continues to come on as the right parking light, plate light, and right fog light continues to go out even after being replaced with a new bulb.

I have taken my car to the dealer several times because while driving the car will jerk really hard. this happens when i come to a complete stop, when i slow down and pick up the speed or just driving normal. the dealer said it had to imitate the problem so he can know what to fix. so it did imitate the jerk so he wanted to drive it hisself cause he said the way i was driving caused the car to jerk. i told him i had this car 2 years and it has never done that. so it can’t be the way i’m driving. i’ve been driving the same the whole while i’ve had the vehicle. they have gave the car back to me and it’s doing the same thing even worse. . it’s frustrating cause they keep saying that it’s not doing it. i will never by another car from this dealership again. this is the second vehicle that i have purchased from them with a bad engine and transmission. no help from the dealer just a lemon of a car. the radio kept going blank. they said they fixed that. i got it back it did it again plus the jerking. i’ve been to them3 timesalready still having the same problem. 😡never will purchase a dodge jeep of. o kind again.

My car begin sputtering, stalling when i pressed on the gas as if it was not getting enough gas, my indicator lights on the panel of the car would just start to go crazy causing the seatbelt sign to begin to ding and ding and ding, even though i had my seat belt on. i took the car to be looked at and was told that there is a recall on the vehicle that i should look up. i did and there were three recalls involving my vehicle, two of which related directly to the problems i was having. i contacted chrysler who said my vin number was not included in the recall. i asked how that is possible when exactly what i am experiencing is exactly what they listed. she told me to take the car back to the dealership have them check it out and if they determined that this was the problem then they would not to call and tell them that. i immediately contacted the dealer and spoke with service who explained why should they have to contact chrysler when it's not their problem. i said sir, i am only following instructions. he then went on to explain to me that well they could look at the car but it would cost me $230 to do a diagnostic. i asked why i would have to for that and he said "he has to pay his people". i made an appoint and took the car. when they called they worded everything in a manner that would remove me from the recall, however they then put "fuel injection" at the bottom. i inquired about this and was told that i am supposed to get my fuel injection cleaned 2 per year. i informed them i never heard of such a thing. he also told me it would close to $500 to get my seatbelf fixed "that is not even broken" and never did anything about the indicator lights. i was told that they needed to put my car "back together" which i also did not understand because i thought a diagnostic did not require that. now my engine light is also on and nobody will return my calls.

Radio power/adjust on own. multiple/random. headlights cut out driving in the dark. both sides effected. fog lights stay on. possible link to turning steering wheel, with or without use of turn signal-effect on both headlights simultaneously. turn signals not working intermittently (neither for lane change or turning, left or right.-multiple occurrences). tail lights- while backing into driveway one night i realized i had no lights in the back including reverse lights (only acknowledged this problem once by the reflection of my car in my husbands) all lighting issues occurred with lights turned to auto and vehicle in motion. emergency brake self engaged while in motion. after switching gears and before hitting gas and other times while driving at lower speeds. a message along the lines of-vehicle not on, shift to park and press run/stop button-has shown but only after turning off the vehicle does it show that the parking brake has engaged-multiple occurrences. passenger seatbelt sensor illuminates at random, nothing on seat (concerned for malfunction in the event of an accident) -have to press the stop/start button several times for the car to turn on (no response in the form of sounds or lights with each attempt prior to the one that starts the vehicle.-remote start:vehicle turns on > try to enter vehicle moments later--car will turn off with touch of handles or press to unlock button-"remote start disabled" -lift gate closed and audibly latched>lights flash, latch releases, door opens itself-may happen 1 or 30 times.check engine: thermostat replaced, key fob loses connection: warning "fob has left vehicle" while actually in cup holder, engages parking brake-only way to get rid of message/disengage brake is to power off/on. can drive with no keys in part of transmission repaired, radio replaced 2 times, transmission sticks/slams multiple other issues.

My 2017 jeep renegade 4x4 sport is jerking possibly the transmission could be slipping. this occurs at approximately 20mph and it also occurs when idling.

A recall without a remedy was issued for part of the fuel pump system and it can shut the vehicle down in higher than average temperatures. i had this happen last june (2018) and the recall was issued in october. the original notice said it would be resolved by q4 of 2018. it is now april of 2019 and i live in florida, which means higher than average temperatures every day. i have two children under 5 and cannot risk the safety hazard of my car potentially shutting down in the middle of the highway! this should have been fixed 5 months ago!

When turning on a snow covered road, slightly up hill, from a county highway into a driveway and experiencing slight wheel spin, the vehicle lost 4-wheel drive and power steering. the esc system became disabled and error codes "service hill start assist", "service esc system" and "dynamic steering torque service required" were displayed as a message on the instrument panel screen and the esc disabled light was turned on. this caused momentary loss of vehicle control.

My jeep stalls and has trouble starting dies alot wont keep up to speed jerks back up camera glitches alot i was driving to my kids school and on the freeway driving places.

When i started my vehicle multiple warning lights came on showing that one daytime running light was out, right blinker light out, and the the license plate light. i shut the vehichle.off and restarted it. all warning lights remained. i then proceeded to drive to work. the rear license plate light warning continued to flash on and off as i drove.(this was very distracting) before i arrived to my destination all warning lights went off. all of my light were working upon my arrival. the next time i started the vehicle there were no warning lights and all went back to normal. i have no.idea why these warning lights were on or if the will return. note: vehicle was started using remote start before putting in run mode. warning lights did not come on until i put the vehicle in run mode. there is an open recall for this issue, but my vin number is not included

My 2017 renegade jeep is stalling at stop lights, stop signs, or as i accelerate to leave a stop light or stop sign. i almost got hit by a 18 wheeler truck 2 weeks ago because the jeep stalled and i could not move out of the truck's way. my jeep also accelerates, or loses power. it is rattling since 3 months after i bought it. it has a problem with massive oil consumption and i am afraid i may have a fire. i have alerted russell westbrook jeep dealership where i bought it 9/10/2017. these problems have gotten worse since 3/01/2019. *js

Oil pump recall

Vehicle has stalled numerous times in traffic. "low oil pressure" will come on briefly and then engine fails. sometimes while turning if vehicle does not come to complete stop. vehicle is burning through oil all though no leaks are detected or visible even after oil has been changed.

Cooling fan went out some electrical power outlets weren't working oil change signal light won't reset when making turns car skids and the 4x4 control kicks in vehicle is shaking, engine problem

Fuel pump module: issues addressed by recall remain unresolved. was told by dealer that there was a part available, then had our appointment cancelled because they had run out. driving the car with this issue is dangerous as the car tends to stall when accelerating onto a highway or when making a turn. we have barely avoided accidents on several occasions due to stalling, including one with a semi-truck. engine: hard idle when cold. engine rattles loudly. power train: when car is accelerated to 30 mph range, it "hiccups" or jerks when accelerator is pressed. we have taken the car in for this issue numerous times, but every time we are told that the "computer isn't picking anything up" and problem remains unresolved.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 jeep renegade equipped with continental crosscontact lx tires, size: 215/65/16 (na). lost tire pressure while driving contact was concerned about safety due to the tire failure tread separation on the inside of tire. only noticeable with tires off of the rim. while driving at 20 mph, the tire pressure monitoring system indicated a loss of tire pressure in the driver's side, passenger's side rear and driver's side front tire. the contact stated that the loss of tire pressure was gradual. the contact stated that the wheels were removed at the residence and taken to southern tire mart located at 2009 e beebe capps expy, searcy, ar 72143, (501) 268-1167. the tires were replaced with michelin brand tires. neither the vehicle manufacturer nor a dealer were notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage on the tires were 8,000, 10,000 and 12,000 respectively. the approximate failure mileage on the vehicle was 8,000.

Traveling at 75 mph on highway 25 in new mexico, the began decelerating despite my foot pushing the gas pedal. service engine kight illuminated. vehicle had to be towed to jeep dealership sierra blanca motors in ruidoso nm. luckily i had cell service to contact aaa. fuel pump is being replaced now for the second time in 21,000 miles. dealer told me there is no way to reconfigure it so that won't happen again. im afraid now to drive it. i have to drive to desolate locations with no cell service for my job. i was in motion on a highway when this latest incident occurred. thevfirst incident i was also in motion on a highway near santa fe. fuel pump was replaced then at 5,000 miles on the car.

First breakdown check engine light and air bags light came on then the engine locked up and i could not switch gears and could not accelerate. second break down emergency break locked up and would not release and check engine light and check airbags came on again. third breakdown emergency break locked up and would not release again and the check engine light and air bags light came on again and could not switch gears. fourth breakdown would not start had to be towed turns out battery needed to be replaced. fifth breakdown engine stalled had to pull over and restart the car. sixth breakdown remote start the car did not start up and then would not start manually. seventh breakdown engine stalled again had to be towed would not start backup. 8th breakdown jeep was shifting really hard took to delaership now has to have transmission replaced. this car is a year and a half old and has had all these problems i just found out that jeeps that are 2017 and 2018 have recalls this vehicle has the electrical problem and the boby is falling apart. all of this has affected the gas mileage. all these break down were city streets and highway.

I driving and the care turn off??? very dangerous … then the low oil pressure light shows... took into dealer and they say chrysler know about this issue. with the jeep 2017 i have 30,000 miles should not happen... what is chrysler going to do i want an answer . i have to come in every 1000 miles to have my oil checked and if problems continue a new engine. sound like new car. put a new engine in to just have the same problem...no..... this has happen to me 3 time engine turning off... low pressure oil only once but when i brought to dealer it was 2 qtrs. low... i take my car regular to get oil chg., jones dealer in belair md i need to know what you all plan on doing... very dangerous to drive knowing this

I took the vechicle for the recall for a replacement on the fuel pump module and i was told they didn’t have it and that i would get a call for the replacement. i still have not received a call and now i cannot renew my vehicle registration. i have called them multiple times and i just get the run around. i am now going to ha e to pay late fees and i my tags will be expired. this vehicle is my principal car for transportation to get to work. who is going to be responsible for this now.

Was driving on the freeway at 70mph when the car suddenly lost power. thankfully i was able to get to an exit and pulled over safely. car would start back up, but sputter and die. let it sit for 10 minutes and was able to get it started and drive away, 5 minutes later, car dies again. same problem, sputtering, no power. called jeep and was towed to dealership.

Since april of 2019, my jeep renegade has been dying while my 16 year old daughter has been driving it. we received notification of a fuel pump recall, so we thought it could be related to that problem. we did inform our dealer, jim hayes, inc., of the dying issue and they said they would check the oil and look into it. when i picked up the vehicle on friday, may 31, i was told that it had been extremely low on oil, and that i would need to bring it in every 1000 miles to have them check to see if the engine was using too much oil. they said this could be the cause of the dying issue and that this has been an issue with other chrysler/jeep vehicles. i was then informed that it could possibly need a new engine. the dealer fixed the fuel pump recall on thursday, may 30. however, after driving it on may 30, it died randomly while driving it on four separate occasions. i immediately returned the vehicle to jim hayes, inc. on may 31 so they could fix the problem. on monday, june 3, i was told that the dealer couldn't duplicate the dying issue and that they were unsure of how to diagnose the problem. however, that did not make sense because they told me on the previous friday that it was a common problem and it could need a new engine. after reading several jeep forums, i discovered that this is a common issue that needs addressed. i am deeply concerned that i have purchased a car for my 16 year old that is now a safety hazard and i am at the mercy of jeep and the dealer. as a normal citizen, who is a teacher, i do not have the financial ability to purchase multiple cars and i should be able to trust that a car that is fairly new is safe enough for my daughter to drive. it disturbs me that this issue has been reported and the jeep corporation is not addressing the problem. i fear that my daughter, who is a new driver, will be involved in a wreck.

The check engine light has come on in my vehicle twice. when the light comes on, the vehicle jerks when applying the breaks. the car has been looked at twice by the dealer. the dealer said in both instances that this was the result of a bad ignition coil. the ignition coil was replaced each time. the issue is now presenting itself a third time, but the check engine light has not come on. i believe this vehicle may have been missed in the recent recall for the engine issues.

Sunday, 2 jun 2019 @ approximately 1900 me and my friend were returning home from fishing, going approximately 30 mph on a light gravel road inside a wildlife state preserve. while make starting to make a right turn, my steering wheel locked up on me which make it impossible to turn. i slammed the brakes and was able to free the steering wheel in time to turn hard right causing the vehicle to slide and coming to a stop inches before going into the river. my car was hanging off the bank with the possibility of rolling over into the river, my friend and i had to exit out of the passenger door for the fear of a possible rollover. i was unable to see any warning lights (hill assist, abs warning, etc) as everything happened very fast. i currently have a accident claim in with my insurance and the jeep did sustain damage to the driver front tire. i will not know the results until tomorrow or the next day but from the initial look, it appears that my power steering fuild is leaking out and onto my axle and rotor. at this time it is unclear if this issue was caused before or after the impact into the river bank. after the toll truck pulled me out i was able to drive back home however i was hearing a flipping noise coming from my driver front tire. i am now very uncomfortable with driving this vehicle, as this incident could have caused serious bodily harm. pictures will be uploaded later as i had lost my phone in the river a d have not received them from my friend yet.

On may 11th my jeep renegade with 19,637 miles died on the side of the road and never restarted. at the time, the reason was unknown and no warning lights. it acted like it was out of gas; luckily i was able to get off a buy road. it was towed 5 hours later(roadside assist that came with the vehicle sucked too) to autoland (where i purchased the vehicle brand new in august 2017) they had my car for almost a week before they even contacted me about the car. on may 17th they called and told me i needed a new engine and wanted proof of vehicle maintenance. i brought in proof of 3 oil changes and a tire rotation. i asked why i needed a new engine and they told me it didnt have any compression; i asked why and junior said "i don't know" on may 23 i called and asked what's up because i am renting a vehicle out of pocket and i need a loaner. junior said "i can't just give people free cars and i don't have one anyway" i asked about the status of my car and he said he hasn't heard from the warranty people yet. i told him they had my car for more than 10 business days and the next call will be from my lawyer. i got a call 10 minutes later saying my engine is under warranty and it will take 3 to 5 business days to get my vehicle back. was told it will be ready on the 28th. i called on the 28th and they haven't even received the engine (allegedly) that it will be another week. here it is june 4th and i haven't heard from them yet. i called jeep chrysler hq and they were so rude and useless. not concerned that their brand new vehicles needs new engines at less than 20,000 miles. i am still paying for a rental, not receiving any cooperation from dealership, lemon law lawyers or corporate. smh. i have to make a payment on a vehicle i have not had in nearly a month! a brand new car with 16 original miles when purchased. can anyone offer advise or assistance? so upset & frustrated!

Left a local drive thru and jeep began idling hard. drove on a busy roadway and lost speed until car was at 0mph (was originally at 45mph) turned car off on busy intersection and turned back on. car drove 1.5 miles down the road and lost speed again. was able to pull into gas station and have car towed to greenway jeep in orlando. check engine light did come on.

In motion upon decel/accel at a stop sign and then to proceed, the engine dies. you have to put car in park and re-crank, then try to proceed. no low oil indicator lights came on for any warning that my engine was low on oil or that my engine would do an automatic shutdown to save the engine. i was 2000 miles over my recommended oil change (i own this mistake) and was told the oil was found to low and that this particular engine was made to shut down to save it from burning up. however, no warnings, no indicator lights, just a shutoff of the power to vehicle upon slowing to stop and/or re-accelerate. trouble to think i would get in an accident because i did not know my oil was too low and should be looked at. so, major deal.... i had the oil changed and the dealer told me it was the type of 2.4 lt engine that was using in this particular jeep model. i get that, but no indicator light is troublesome. took it on monday the 11th to jeep dealer in cartersville, ga.

Concerned about jeep's inability to address this problem. have safety concerns when pulling trailer . jeep recommended using e85 fuel which is not available in my area. vehicle unable to perform as represented.

All maintenance done to vehicle at recommended/required timeframes. after my 2nd oil change while driving the car stalled with no indicators on dash on a main road with a speed limit of 45mph, car did not re-start until 2nd or 3rd attempt. this was the 1st time this had happened. about 1 week later while driving downhill turning onto a flat road the car stalled again starting back up on the first try. while driving the same day the car stalled 2 more times. at no point were any indicators lit showing any problem. i brought the vehicle to a jeep dealership and explained the problem, after explaining the time it stalled going down hill he checked the oil and found it empty. the manual states changing the oil when the warning light is lit, once a year or 10,000 miles. i have had the oil changed by professionals in our before 5,000 miles. at the time i brought the vehicle to the dealership and discovered it had no oil i was still under the 5,000 mile range to have the oil replaced. the technician informed me that the oil had probably burned up and changed the oil and filter. months later when pulling out onto a main road the vehicle again stalked with no warning lights on the dash, thankfully the car started on the first attempt as a tractor trailer was coming up behind me. i immediately brought the car back to the jeep dealer and was informed it would be a few hours add i had not scheduled an appointment. after explaining my issue the technician checked my oil finding it empty, about 4,000 miles since last oil change, and stated he would top it off for free to speed up the process. he stated this was a recently discovered issue but nothing yet was being done to fix the issue. i see a recall has been put out and checked my vin which came back as not recalled but i believe my car may have the recall or something else possibly wrong.

The vehicle has shut off on 3 different occasions while driving in the city. the vehicle engine stops and the car has to be guided off the street if safe. at least once the vehicle stopped while driving and had to be shut off and then restarted. this has happened three times, twice before the recall. it was taken to the dealership and they diagnosed a "software" problem. it has happened again since finding out about the recall after the original "fix". the vehicle is at the dealership currently but there is no recall part yet for this problem.

My call stall in highway every time

I have a 2017 jeep renegade. there is a massive recall on them due to the car shutting off due to fuel pump and oil sensor issues. i have had the vehicle shut off on me in intersections and on the highway and is very unsafe to drive. i contacted chrystler and they said that they are not fixing this recall until after the 1st quarter is over due to part and funding issues. they refuse to help me with this issue. i cannot drive this vehicle due to unsafe conditions.

After a few months of use the brake rotors had deep scoring and were replaced by the dealer. at less than a year the brake rotors and pads scorn again and now the vehicle pulls to one side when the brakes are applied hard.

The malfunction indicator lamps illuminate at incorrect times. engine stall. it stops and goes back and forth when gas is pressed. the backup camera blanks out and goes blue or the picture is not there at ali or extremely fuzzy.

About a week ago my jeep renegade started stalling in the middle of driving on the road, it also struggles a little to start back up after said stalling. i am very concerned about this safety issue since i have a 4 year old child and she was present in the vehicle on two occasions when the stalling happen. it is absolutely a hazard to be on the road with this type of problem..life threatening!

It feels like my car is running out of gas while idling and when apply gas, i have a half a tank of gas.

Steering lock up. on two occasions we've had the steering lock up on our 2017 jeep renegade trail hawk. fortunately, one happened at a stop sign and the other occurred when we dropped the vehicle off at the dealer for repair. when the steering locked up, our jeep was also experiencing illumination of multiple malfunction indicator lights. there is a safety recall (t50 / nhtsa 17v-485) that specifically addresses the malfunctioning indicator lights in the 2017 renegade. however, it only applies to renegades built from 9 jun 2017 through 18 jul 2017. unfortunately, our vehicle was built outside of this window and the service manager will not reprogram the instrument panel cluster unless it is in the vip as an open recall for this specific renegade. i have called jeep customer care twice on this issue and we still have no resolution.

My car has a recall on it and chyster no longer have the part nor know when they can get it i worryed about my safety and feel if they can’t replace it i ethier need another car or they just take this one back the car don’t last on gas it’s running different and i feel any longer this recall might effect something else

As driving out of the dealership i could hear the brakes squeaking. my first thought was since it was a brand new car, maybe the brakes need to be broken in. although, now having over 20k miles, the brake squeak has gotten worse over time causing my rotors to become damaged with deep grooves. the car also jerks when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. it is embarrassing, especially when passengers in the vehicle, for my brand new, barely a year old, car to be jerking so roughly. if you are experiencing this same problem or something similar, please speak up so this problem can be resolved. there are others with the same complaint but have not spoken up, now is the time. dont wait!

On 4 occasions now since owning my jeep renegade the vehicle will jerk, check enhine light comes on, and the vehicle will lock in 3rd gear. i try to switch to manual shift and will not shift. i purchased this vehicle with 50 miles, and now over 28,000 miles with reoccurring problems. on instance the vehicle light warning comes on indicating all of the lights are out in the vehicle, and the light build indicator will remain for a short period of time, and cut off. the dealership has replaced the transmission computer on the first instance, replaced the bsm on the second occasion, and since then 2 software updates. this vehicle is defective in some way and fca needs to address these ongoing issues that are a huge safety concern.

Takata recall - took vehicle in for service 12/10/18, took a trip to yosemite on 12/25/18 before leaving home my husband checked my oil and i was half way down my oil stick. how is that possible when i just took my car in for service? i was maybe a little more then 1000 miles. no oil light came on. this is the second time, the first time i was way less than my oil change mileage we was heading to la and half way there my car started stalling we pulled over and checked the oil when the car cooled off and my husband notice i had no oil it was at the bottom line on my oil stick. we had to rush to get oil for my car. no oil light came on, thank god we made it safely to napa to purchase oil.

My car just about stalled but it kept going. but then it got stuck in third gear. i drive all the way to the dealership. they said they never heard bout this problem. well i just bought the vehicle in 2018 february.

I was hearing a noise when i brake so i took my car to the dealer to have the front brakes looked at. i was told that the front rotors needed to be replaced. i was shocked because the car is 11 months old with 19,152 miles there is no way that i should need to have my rotors and brakes replaced. i researched and found that this model is known to have brake pad issues which causes the rotors to have grooves. it is unacceptable that i should have to replace brakes this soon.

My vehicle started to shut off without warning on 3 occasions. i checked my oil and i saw that it was running low so i put 2 quarts of oil in on thursday 12/13/18. i checked and the oil stick and the level was at the medium level on the stick. i took my car to the dealer 12/17/18 to have it looked at. i was told that i had no oil in my car which was impossible since i had just put oil in the car. the dealer recommended that i drive 500 miles and then come back for an oil consumption test.

My car has cut off with out notice while driving on highway three times, always at least a 1,000 miles before my next oil change . i can not make it 3.000 without having to get an oil change

Fuel pump recall: may cause car to stall and result in a crash. every time i turn my car on, it is overly loud and when i’m driving you can hear guzzlingn noises. no inspection was offered on my car. my car was bought at a jeep dealership 2 days prior to this recall which was over 2 months ago. reached out to the fca and they got me in contact with dealerships who did not have the parts readily available and could not give me an eta. i insisted that i have two small children and i did not feel comfortable driving around a vehicle that could at any time cause a crash because of a defected part. i was told it was a one in a million chance that this could happen, which obviously is not the case if a recall was issued. i was told i would receive a call back from the dealership on monday and had to call back two days later because i had not heard back. i made an appointment to go in, and when i went in the sales manager told me that the fca hadn’t released the part for a recall that’s over two months old and their hands were tied until the part comes in. i was told that if i traded in the car i was looking at a huge negative equity i would be paying for a car i had, again, bought two months prior. i was not advised on the buy back option, but just told i would have to take my chances until the part came in.

I purchased my car back in may of 2018 and have noticed inconsistencies with my fuel consumption as well as a strange kicking feeling when driving at times. i received a notice in the mail in december shortly after going in for some maintenance which detailed the underlying issue. it said that the current fuel pump module on this car is prone to cavitation and that the spontaneous loss of fuel may result in a "sudden loss of motive power, which may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning." i called the number provided on the notice and was again informed that there are no parts available currently to remedy this issue. the call center rep also indicated that the issue was made public in october. when i asked if there was any timeframe for how long it might take for the needed part to materialize, i was told that there was "none at this time." i am very disappointed that the manufacturer would produce cars with such a glaring problem then not offer any specific remedies or solutions for the people driving them. they recognize the part has to be replaced but this is obviously not a priority for them as they have not provided a solution for months now. the only solution i have been offered was to be reimbursed for select damage to the vehicle that may occur after the fact. i believe that is blatant irresponsibility on the part of the manufacturer and would like this part made available as soon as possible as i am now in a position that i can no longer reliably travel in the vehicle i’m continuing to pay for. i hope you will see my complaint and respond at your earliest convenience. i realize i'm just an average consumer but i feel like manufacturers have to be held liable for incidents along these lines. i can't help but feel like i'm driving a ticking time bomb with no evidence to the contrary.

Random lights come on saying headlight/tail lights/turn signals are out, even though they are not. has been to local body shop x 3 and jeep dealer where purchased x 2 and had 2 bulbs replaced but problem keeps recurring. has occurred upon starting the car or while driving. began after a body repair from a minor fender bender accident

While driving 80 mph on the interstate the car suddenly stalled. the fuel was over half full and oil was with normal ranges (checked before trip). this is the 5 such instance of this happening between accelerating from a stop lightroom driving on the highway. the first couples times dealership tried to say it was the viscosity of the oil caused it to be lower than the car read it to be. an oil change was done. nothing else. this time the dealership is going to replace the fuel pump.

While driving my vehicle jerks and lunges forward when shifting gears. as i am driving i will hear a loud clunk noise, which then results in my engine stalling out. it has happened while driving on the highway. i’ve noticed it happens when i must accelerate quickly or when i release the gas pedal. on the panel soon after the clunk a message appears stating that the car must be shifted to park in order to drive. i am afraid to drive my car as i purchased it to ensure the safety of my son. it has been a nightmare each time i attempt to drive it. dealership says it’s normal for 2.4l transmissions to do this, main cause is low oil. i have found that it still happens after a fresh oil change. the car only has 15,000 miles on it. no harsh driving has been done. this issue needs to be fixed. this issue puts every driver on the road at the same time at risk. these engines are lemons.

After doing front fender repairs at dealership. warnings came out and went to dealership to complain the issue. i was told lights are going out whereas the lights are fine.

Driving and engine stalls, throws a p00735 code, only 15450 miles on the car when happened, it's not doing it again and have been told that i have to wait until it happens again...i don't feel safe in this car. research has shown there are many people with the exact same problem happen to them and told the same thing.

Multiple warning messages illuminate the dash, such as check engine, check brake, and countless others. also the car locks up and will not start or will only go in reverse. this happens upon attempting to start the vehicle and also while actively driving it. the vehicle has been taken to the dealership over 6 times for the same issue and multiple software updates have been performed and the tcm has been replaced but the issue keeps occurring. customer service for the manufacturer has been contacted and a corporate technician has been involved and also an in flight recorder was temporarily installed and it provided numerous error codes but no one is seems to be capable of determining how to fix the issue or what exactly is causing it

On june 11th, 2 days after purchasing the car with just under 7000 miles we noticed the battery light on which disappeared about 10 minutes after driving it. today, june 20th, while driving on florida's turnpike at 72mph warning light came on, there was a beeping sound and the car seemed to lose power very briefly as if it was going to turn off. this could be a safety hazard especially on an interstate. i am also noticing sluggish acceleration at times.

The vehicle transmission was stuck in neutral and could not be shifted to any other position. this occurred after backing the vehicle up a few feet and then trying to shift from reverse into drive. there is no known procedure for shutting off the engine with the shifter in any position other than park. because of this, the vehicle could not be moved and the engine could not be shut off. the only good part of this was that it was in neutral - i can't imagine what could have happened of the transmission had gotten stuck in reverse or drive.

Engine has stalled out multiple times. latest time stalled out on a city street after turning into it. tends to happen when oil is low. jeep burning through oil too fast.

I was turning into my parking space slowly with the brake slightly depressed. as i pressed further on the brake the car accelerated suddenly. i pressed down hard on the brakes and the car didn't slow down and smacked the retaining wall. the dashboard lit up with the parking brake (did not press) and the car with the lightning bolts. i don't know what just happened.

I was sitting in my jeep parked idling waiting for someone to pick me up , when my ride show up turned off jeep and left. twenty minutes later the police called and told me the jeep was on fire and i needed to return to the vehicle.

Took my 2017 jeep renegade sport to the dealer for regularly scheduled oil change and tire rotation. they did change the oil and rotate the tires as scheduled. they did notify me that the rotors would need to be replaced before the vehicle could pass inspection. during the conversation the dealer said these vehicles were known for having too hard of a brake pad and the pad grooves the rotors. at the time i was notified of the situation the vehicle had less than 19,000 miles and was in the 11th month of ownership. i have been reading many forums regarding this issue and noticed that the last three model year of jeep renegade has been having the same issue. i am very unpleased by the fact that i now need to replace both front rotors, pads, and labor on my dime for a vehicle that i have owned for less than a year.

While in motion at the freeway, low oil pressure light flashing at 10,964 miles randomly when speeded over 50 mph. dealership installed new engine no start so checked for oil pressure and found 25 psi while cranking. replaced vvaa assembly engine will still not start. finding: crankshaft has severe end play and was eaten away at the block. suspected: main bearing to be left loose from factory. vehicle kept at dealership since march 7th until may 3rd 2018.

While driving in any condition (highway, street) the transmission slips, sometimes violently. it feels like i have been rear ended it slips so bad. this is a frequent occurrence. when taken to the dealer, they have placed the jeep on their diagnostic computer and said nothing is wrong. the jeep has just over 22,000 miles. this has been going on since about 15,000 miles. secondarily, sometimes the cruise control fails to engage or reengage.

I purchased this car after owning two wrangler's, a cherokee and a patriot. i noticed right away that my transmission would lunge forward when coming to a stop and the transmission would shift harshly when slowing down in traffic then applying the gas to go, the car also hesitates to take off. i have had many scary situations where i was almost rear-ended many times because of the delay, i also came to a stop at a crosswalk and right when i went to stop the car lunged forward and i hit someone walking in the crosswalk, i was lucky the guy was not hurt, i also had a time where there was a couch in front of me on the freeway and i was not able to avoid it because of a hesitation in the engine where at times i am unable to accelerate right away and this could cause me to get hit if i switch lanes to quickly, i ended up slamming on the breaks and sliding into the counch and contacting 911 to explain what happened. this transmission is defective and all the shops do is reset the transmission and do a software update to the transmission and the tcm and the pcm on the car. the cars door locks will also sometimes beep loud and sometimes beep short like something is wrong and a good portion of the time the car will not lock. i also have a weird vibration coming from the right side of the car and the dealer said that they tested it against a cherokee and it's the same but i have a renegade so i have in writing they tested the wrong model car. this car has had so many issues and i really feel unsafe, i have already taken the car in 5 times and they don't really do anything. i will be taking it in to get my ac knob replaced because it has a sharp edge and i keep getting cut. i don't think being told the harsh shifting is normal is right, i feel like i am driving a manual transmission because of the weird shifts this transmission does.

Vehicle's oil consumption is higher than owner manual indicates. engine is consuming approx. a liter every 750-1,000 miles. have brought vehicle in for service due to low oil light coming on and was told that the 2.4 engine tends to burn oil and this was normal. they advised that i just check the oil levels and add oil when low. this first started shortly after buying the vehicle and continue as of today 04/05/19.* *dt consumer stated dealer indicated that this type of engine burns oil and that consumer could come monthly to have the oil checked. there is no visible leak. consumer had the oil changed four times at roughly 22,000 miles.*jb

Whille driving the vehicle on a city street and making a right turn and descending a small hill the vehicle "service engine light" illuminates, chimes and the vehicle transmission locks into a random gear (typically 3 or 5th gear) and remains in this gear. it happens over half of the time and results in a very unsafe driving condition as the vehicle is unable to accelerate properly or maintain adequate speed depending on the gear in which it is stuck. the vehicle has to dodge traffic and pull over in a safe place where the vehicle can be shut off and restarted, which in most cases will reset the transmission and allow it to function closer to normal. fca in conjunction with the dealer have been attempting to remedy this extremely dangerous situation for 6 months. they have replaced the transmission control module, the transmission, the evap canister and the fuel pump. fca and the dealer are stating this is "normal" function and that the turn or the hill must be extreme operation. this is happening at a slow speed turn of 10-15 mph. i have video recordings which have been shared with fca and the dealer and i would gladly share with nhtsa. as a former vp at a tier one automotive supplier, i can assure you this is not extreme operation and is a significant safety issue which the manufacturer is unwilling to rectify. if the manufacturer is unable to identify the root cause of what could potentially be a software related safety defect it could result in additional jeep renegades operating unsafely on public roadways. please advise where i can send all the video evidence.

August 24th, 2018, trip to colorado, driving on highway, went to exit and the car stalled all the warning lights came on, took to dealership, they didn't know what happened, codes reset. milage 15000 march 27, 2019, turned on car, the radio didn't work and the mileage was flashing, turned the car off and let sit for a minute or two, turned back on, the radio still didn't work and the mileage was flashing. radio came back on eventually. drove home and the car was sluggish and not shifting like usual...so mad to to dealership and told them to not give it back to me until fixed. mileage 29800 this car was brand new when i purchased it february 2018. this should not be happening especially since you guys have been sued for the exact same things in 2015....is it going to take another class action suit to get you to pay attention????

I'm concerned about recall number 18v-731. the letter we received said a solution would be available by the end of q4 2018. i called our dealership today and confirmed there is no solution yet. this is an extremely dangerous issue. cavitation from a bad fuel pump really doesn't describe what it's like to have your engine stall out on you at interstate speeds in heavy traffic while going uphill. twice. a third time it occurred on a simple city street. we were almost involved in a serious accident the first time it happened. no warning, no check-engine light, no sputtering or less-responsive engine - nothing. just stalled out. the issue is likely to occur in hot summer time and driving up hills. we live in hilly tucson, arizona where it will hit 90deg tomorrow. this is unacceptable and i believe the manufacturer claiming its just a faulty fuel pump is bogus. if it was that simple, why is there no new fuel pump available? why are the fuel pumps on new inventory okay, but they can't produce one good enough to satisfy this recall? after experiencing the issue several times, i think the problem lies in the software, or how the sensor reads the fuel pressure or engine temps. the car didn't heave or sputter before the issue arose - the engine just cut out. i've driven old cars with poor fuel pumps before and they let you know before they die. and they don't come magically back to life once you pull off the road and turn the car off and immediately back on again. software does that - not mechanical failures. i refuse to put my family at risk again this summer, and summer comes fast in southern arizona. please help me look out for my little family. we don't have the money to trade our defective jeep in for another vehicle, and really need this car to work. this is a dangerous issue that i feel is not being properly respected by the manufacturer. thank you -

Malfunction lights on the instrument panel illuminate when there is no malfunction. while driving in heavy traffic, the instrument panel displayed a warning message indicating the left and right turn signals both front and rear, both brake lights, daytime running lights, and headlights were not operating. after pulling over, with the message still displayed, it was seen that every light was actually working properly. the same has happened regarding other warning messages in the vehicle where the problem did not actually exist. this problem has been identified as a recall with other of this same model of vehicle, but not with this specific vin

Getting false warnings on instrument panel such as lights being that are still working, service electric park brake, sometime the service the electric park just intermittently comes on and goes off now it just stays on and parking break is functioning properly

Was driving this evening, and got about 2 blocks from my house. after stopping at a stop sign, and then continuing through, halfway through the intersection, all service lights came on (service electronic parking brake, service esc, service engine, service transmission), and then it said to shift into park while i lost power and had to coast to the curb. when i got to the curb, the lights next to the shifter (prnd) were flashing until i put it in park. i shut the car off, and when it came back on, only the service engine light remained. i phoned jeep, and they were going to have it towed to a dealership, but none were open, so i have to wait until the morning, and had to leave my car on the street, because if i went more than 10 feet, the power would go out again and would lose acceleration. there have been issues with transmission jamming into gear when slowing to a stop at a red light, and then accelerating when it turns green, and randomly idling rough. the engine code is u0001. if i had been on the freeway when it lost power, i would not have had time to get over to the shoulder and could have been badly hurt or killed if i got hit by another car.

At approximately 23,000 miles, the check engine oil light briefly flashed on once when taking a sharp turn (left or right). this occurred twice. the third time was when pulling out of a parking lot at standard speed (not a fast acceleration) but the engine completely turned off. i was able to to restart the engine with no delay and no warning lights on dash. 1/10th of a mile i was entering the interstate (same day) and the engine completely turned off again - almost causing a rear-end collision. again, the car restart without delay and no warning lights. i pulled the car to the shoulder of road and called the dealership. i explained details and said the only other experience i had was it was time to change the oil. the dealership said change your oil and that should fix the problem. ??really?? i was confused of why & how but i'm no mechanic and i drove it directly to valvoline and it corrected the problem. i am deeply concerned about stalls with my 3 children in the car daily. now i am experience transmission issues at 31,500 miles. i will supply details is a separate report.

At approximately 31,500 miles transmission is making a loud clunk sound and jars the vehicle. so loud and hard it startles the passengers. i believe it is happening between 20-30 mph and when i remove accelerator and begin to coast. it seems to be when i coast downhill. no warning lights display on the dash. seems to only happen at low speeds. possibly has occurred 4 times before taking to dealership the first time. took vehicle to purchasing dealership march 2019. problem still occurring the same day i picked up. has happened 3 more times in 2 days. rescheduled with purchasing dealership 2nd attempt to repair. i am the original owner - purchased april 2017. one driver. issue is new and started at approx 31,500 miles in march 2019.

I have a 2017 jeep renegade, the car is running out of oil , i’ve taken the car to the dealer multiple times and it seems that the engine keeps burning the oil without any and the car has shut down on me while driving without any alerts reporting me that the car does not have oil, i have to keep checking the oil to make sure is right to avoid the car shutting down on me while i’m driving, is really dangerous that the car is burning the whole motor oil every 500 miles whiout having any leaking or showing low oil alert signs and the dealer can’t fix it , the dealer should be able to replace the damage to avoid any accident this car is worse than having an old 1987 car.

I have noticed that when i have to take hard turns with my jeep renegade 2017 4 wheel drive sport edition that my low oil pressure light will come on and the engine will either stall or flutter like it's going to stall. this can be dangerous if it stalls while i am making a turn in traffic

Engine shuts off when turning. at approximately 23,000 miles october 2018, dash message briefly illuminated "check engine oil" only one time (then turn off) when in a sharp turn (left and right directions). this happened 3 different times. the 4th time, the engine complete shut off in the middle of the turn. i was leaving my work parking lot and decided to drive toward the dealership. the engine turned on without hesitation and no warning on dash. 1/10th mile from work, the engine turned off again in a turn, almost causing a rear-end collision. i pulled to the shoulder and called the purchasing dealership to explain and asked if i can drive to them. i explained the only issue was this and it was time to change oi. the technician said that changing the oil will resolve the problem. it did. it is now match 2019 and the vehicle has not shut off since october. i am not thrilled about this "so called" safety feature. save the engine by shutting off.... but put passengers in danger. not happy - especially since i am a single mom of 3.

I bought my jeep with 17miles on it. since i have had it i have had many reacurring problems. 1st around the 8000 mile mark my jeep started skipping gears like when you shift a old ten speed bike. brought it to dealership it took a week or so and got it back the had to reprogram the shifting module?? then 2nd as i was driving my car it would just lose power and shut off, not fun when driving on the highway going 60mph. i called the dealer they said they didn’t know why it did this. a few day later i was crossing a intersection and it did it again. and i almost got hit by a semi truck. this was at about 30000 miles. when i brought it to the dealership they said i had a oil problem. and that is why. they replaced top end of my engine?? well what about the bottom? now i’m at 50000 and all the problems that i had are happening again it is bucking when shifting. randomly shutting off. i’m feed up. and my car isn’t covered under a warranty any more. as of now i have a beautiful large car payment on a car that is two years old that i don’t think is going to last as long and my payments. i’m scared to drive it. i’m scared to drive my daughter around in it.

All sensor warning sounds have shut off or muted. we have noted that the passenger side seat sensor as well as seat belt sensor sounds and low fuel warning sound has shut off. we've tried sensors, breakers and fuses with no luck. we've tried resetting and troubleshooting but am not having any luck.

Jerking, popping noise and feeling experienced many times over the past couple months time. it's as if it's slipping or popping gears. this is all while in motion both city and highway.

My renegade has started loosing fuel pressure making it jerk really hard while driving it's between the 3rd and 4th gear change it feels like the transmission is slipping there is no way in this new of a vehicle it should be doing this it's not in certain climates its in any climate i really love my renegade but this has been disappointing please hurry up and fix this issue

2017 jeep renegade with 42,000 miles has faulty ignition coils, causing the vehicle to misfire, and stall while driving. after our jeep renegade started running rough and misfiring, i started researching possible issues. shortly after this the check engine light indicated a problem, which disabled the 4 wheel drive in the vehicle during a snowstorm here. upon pulling the cel code, we found a misfire in cylinder 2 and replaced the spark plugs as this is a typical solution to minor ignition issues. upon replacement, i noticed one plug was badly fouled and corroded with another having slight fouling. after replacement of the spark plugs, the vehicle acted ok for about an hour then started misfiring again. we swapped the 2 and 4 coil with each other resulting in the misfire moving to cylinder 4. this lexus to replace the ignition coils solving the issue. this vehicle has less than 50,000 miles on it, and upon further research we are finding this is a common problem with the renegade ignition coils failing prematurely causing the vehicle to misfire and stall. this is a potential life threatening issue because if the vehicle stalls while driving could very likely cause accidents. additionally the failure of the 4wd with acel puts the driver at further risk of being stuck or causing a wreck when the vehicle does not perform as expected.

Seatbelt receiver is defective. problem has been diagnosed at dealership. replacement part has been ordered multiple times. dealership was sent wrong part in the correct box; replacement part ordered. dealership was sent defective part; replacement part ordered. problem still has not been remedied. the seatbelt cannot be put into the buckle as something in the receiver is blocking access.

The trunk pop open if you have anything to close to it. after starting the car then driving the car will stall in the middle of the road. you have to put the car in park. and give it a few mins. then try to restart the car. then you can go. if you hit the radio buttons to fast it will turn the volume all the way up and will be stuck there till you turn off the car and reset the radio.

The 9-speed transmission causes the vehicle to lunge forward causing the vehicle to be unsafe. i would have rear end a dodge ram truck at a stop light; if my foot was not firmly on the brake. the lunging forward, and hard shifting happens randomly primarily on the downshifting, and when it's cold out. other issues: when using the washer solvent fluid the vapors come back through the cabin, making the cabin air toxic to breath. the front driver side rotor and brake pad had to be changed; because they were deemed defective due to finding metal debris in the brake pad at about 3,100 miles when i reported the noise at the first oil change. electrical: randomly the push start will not work, turn signal turning right will not work, and head lights would not automatically come on. this 2017 jeep renegade latitude 2.4l has less than 6,000 miles. the transmission, washer solvent, and brakes started before the first oil change at 3,118 miles; however, the washer solvent was not report until later when i found out it is toxic, and i only used it about 3-times, and turned the air off each time. all deemed unable to duplicate except for one time or normal for the washer solvent issue.

Check engine light on, bad thermostat. engine making a rattling noise different than the normal unique sound of the 2.4l multi-air engine after engine is driven on the highway. sound can be heard most when traveling under 40 mph.

Dashboard lights and middle console turn on and off while driving on their own.

Extreme hesitation upon acceleration and nearly stopping while trying to enter a freeway, twice. key fob issues, auto start issues, radio and blue tooth issues, tire pressure gauge reading issues. first service visit i was told it was just in need of a computer rest. second visit they said they found nothing wrong with it. third visit they initially said it needed a software upgrade until i insisted it was serious and contacted corporate. not only was i treated poorly but i was blocked from leaving a review. it was mentioned that engineers currently know there is an issue but are waiting until second quarter to publish it. i believe this is extremely negligent because it isn't just a faulty sensor light, the entire vehicle nearly dies while driving on a freeway, creating a risk for a fatal accident. i demanded records of all that has been done to this brand new auto, since issues first arose on 12/9/1027. from 12/9/2017-3/38/2018, i have had my car at the service center three times. and i just found the safety recall online, i have not been notified by jeep or the dealership yet as to this recall pertaining to faulty sensor alerts. i am unable to select from the above list but "wheels' and "elec stability control" were also affected.

I picked up my renegade from the service center yesterday for major issues with the auto shutting off while driving, blue-tooth, key fob, auto-start, acceleration and tire gauge issues. on the way back to work it felt like the brakes were grinding. as i was approaching a stop sign, the car was going around 15-20 mph and it lunged forward and stopped very hard and abruptly and the emergency brake then turned on, on its own. i turned it off and cautiously proceeded. now, whenever i put the car in park, the emergency brake automatically turns on and the car feels rough while driving, like the brakes are partially engaged while i am driving. i have only put less than 10 miles on the jeep since picking it up yesterday. this is a real threat to my safety. this is my second complaint and the fourth major issue. do i need to die in a crash before someone will listen to me and help? these cars need recalled and taken off the road. *tt *js

The vehicle shuts off completely while driving if engine oil sensor detects low oil in engine. this happens without warning no matter where you driving ie (highway or local roads).

With 6100 miles and 7 months on my renegade i’ve had to put in over 3 quarts of oil. when the oil levels drop the jeep stalls while turning. if this issue isn’t resolved an unexpecting driver could find themselves getting severely injured. from the forums there are several other owners experiencing the same issue and the dealerships are claiming the consumption and stalling are normal. if my issue isn’t resolved i will be contacting a lemon law lawyer.

Incorrect software combination/fmvss 101 if the malfunction indicator lamps illuminate at incorrect times, the driver may be unaware when a true malfunction occurs, increasing the risk of a crash. the display is showing that drl lights, left turn signal, right turn signal, and brake lights are out but they are not out, there is already a recall out on the 2017 jeep renegade but their is not one for my vin number but the same problem exist in my jeep. nhtsa campaign number: 17v485000

My vehicle stalled while in motion multiple times.. shortly after starting my vehicle and driving down the street or out of a parking lot. the vehicle would stall and the dash would tell me to place vehicle in park but the break pedal would lock up not allowing me to switch from drive to park. each time for no more than 5 mins before finally allowing me to switch gears and restart the vehicle and continue driving.

Around 40000 miles, the car began making a rattling noise under the hood and a burning smell was noticed. shortly thereafter, the check engine light came on. we took it to our mechanic and the code indicated that the radiator fan had failed, making the car unsafe to drive. i find it highly indicative of a faulty and dangerous part for a radiator fan to fail so quickly. the large number of complaints for the same issue confirmed this, the part was defective and is replaced by jeep with a better one, but at the cost of the owner. i find this highly negligent, jeep should be replacing this part for free ad part of a recall, as they clearly know it was an inferior part.

Body control module was replaced at 5000 miles. two weeks after the bcm replacement, the radio system froze twice in one week. two weeks later, oil pressure light came on then went off immediately after. at 6100 miles, car stalled at around 35mph, warning lights stated that the vehicle must be stopped in order to switch gears. the car was in drive and is an automatic. after this warning, the engine shut off, engine light came on as well as the etc light. turned the vehicle off, then restarted several times, with the same result. engine would not turn over, then after about 15 seconds, would turn on with the same warning lights. was able to restart and drive about 100 ft, engine sputtering and low power, could not get enough speed before stalling again. after restarting again, warning lights did not come on and vehicle drove almost normally for several miles at low rpm, some hesitation when accelerating.

Daughter was driving on north dakota state highway 9, 2 miles east of kensil north dakota when a large buck deer, estimated at 200 lbs., jumped into the roadway, she hit the deer square in the front of the vehicle, estimated speed was 52 miles per hour, front driver and passenger air bags did not deploy. she hit her head on the steering wheel.the vehicle is a total loss. the question is why the air bags did not deploy. could have been more serious injuries, then what she obtained. *dt*jb

My car has stalled two days in a row at the same spot. in the morning it reflects that i have low oil pressure but then the warning goes away immediately. after work, i was able to drive for a 0.5 miles before it stalled after the same turn. i took it to the dealership and they couldn’t do anything because my warning lights aren’t going off. they topped my car off with oil even though i just got an oil change 2 months ago. this has never happened before and am regretting my decision of getting a jeep.

My daughter was driving with 4 passengers on interstate 83 in pennsylvania when she heard a loud clunk, the engine light came on and she had lost most ability to steer. she fortunately was able to get the car to stop on the side.thank god everyone was safe - this could have ended terribly. according to the mechanic and what we know so far, the bcm went bad and they are replacing (under warranty). the vehicle is a 2017 and has approximately 17,000 miles on it. how does something like this happen. we purchased the vehicle because it seemed like a reliable, safe option. this whole thing could have ended differently. you cannot be traveling on a highway and all the sudden have your car stop running. chrysler may want to dig a little further and see if it is a recall issue.

Car was running fine until we stopped to get a little more gas at a circle k gas station. we had about a 4th of a tank left and added $10 of 87yr gas in and immediately after we got back on to the road the engine started bucking and lurching like it was trying to die on us. it did that the whole way driving home for 2 more hrs. then the next day (today) it was doing the same thing but now the check engine light came on. we have a pretty good snow storm that hit us today and we wanted to switch the 4wd to snow but the lock light won’t come on and it doesn’t let you change to snow mode anymore. my husband thought maybe we just got some bad gas and decided to put a bottle of heet in the gas tank to see if it remove any water in the tank but it is still acting just as bad and the check engine light is still on.

Hood opens without me opening it. it happened 3 times so far. one time it happened on the parkway but it has the safety so it doesn't swing up. the shifting shifted so hard it made a clucken noise i thought the transmission went. that happened twice. the car only has 20,000 miles and the trans sounds like it's starting to go. i was driving both times.

Vehicle cuts off randomly while driving, has been taken lake keowee dodge for software update, but continues to have same issue. this issue happened about 3 months ago and cut off 5 times in one day on 8\10\18. this is extremely dangerous and there are no recalls as of yet.

About 3 months ago, in between regular/proper oil changes, i pulled out of a parking lot and on to a city side street when my jeep stalled. after turning on my hazards and turning off the car and restarting it, i pulled back into the parking lot. at this time the low oil light came on so i waited for the car to cool and checked the oil. the dipstick showed no oil. i added 2 quarts and took it to the shop. the guy did an oil change and suggested that the last guy did not add enough oil since it takes more than a normal v4. i thanked him and went on my way. immediately my car was driving better. here it is 3 months later and my car begins to drive rough. so i check my oil after setting all night and i have to add more oil. there are no visible leaks, no white smoke or smoke for that matter, no puddles and no indicator lamp.

On the highway when transmission wouldn't engage and the jeep started shaking. came to a stop, shifted to manual and it needed high rpm's to get it moving. it finally got moving and had to use manual get it off the highway. was at the dealer a few months earlier dealing with the transmission not engaging. dealer said it was a software issue. dealer now says it's not transmission but engine problems. thankful to be alive.

I decided to start the vehicle without using remote start due to extreme cold climate so i could warm it longer than remote start will allow. let it run for about 45 minutes and go to drive off and get up to 25-30mph and it stalled and made an extremely loud noise and rough vibration that made it feel like the whole engine or transmission fell out of the vehicle. all of the lights lit up in the dashboard and i had to struggle to steer it off the street by coasting it. proceeded to start it but wouldn't budge for a good 5-10 min until it finally started back up. immediately took it to the dealership and they connected the diagnostic tool to it and said nothing was showing up and there was nothing they could do about it. about a month later, it happened again the exact same way, took it to the dealership and this time they said every possible error code came up and were baffled. they wanted us to leave there at the dealership for 2 weeks before they could get to it and did not offer a loaner vehicle, we had to tell them that we needed it or a loaner for commute and so we had to keep it, they finally got to it and found out it was the ecm module, something to do with the drivetrain, they replaced it and it hasn't occurred again. since then, we have noticed more and more that the transmission has been shifting very hard making popping noises and jerking. we finally decided that something wasnt right and took it to a different dealership with a couple other things that have gone wrong with the car. we had to take it twice for them to figure out what we were talking about with the transmission. it is now scheduled for a total transmission replacement mid august, and i think it was caused by ecm module issue we had to deal with for a few months before it was taken care of. i am extremely disappointed in making a new car purchase because of all the issues we have had with it.

Electrical - multiple malfunction indicator lamps may illuminate on the instrument panel when no malfunction exists engine - it looses a quart of oil every 1000 -2000 miles, no sign of leaks.

Takata recall..my 2017 jeep renegade was purchased new in may 2018 had 18 miles on the odometer...on july 20, 2017, while driving on the highway, i had just come thru a work zone; traffic had been stop and go for about 10 miles. as i reached the end of the work zone; the jeep started jerking as if the gearshift was stuck or shifting uncontrollably, lost power and stopped in the middle of the highway! i had no shoulder or exit t steer towards. this was a dangerous situation. i immediately exited the vehicle called ohp and roadside assistance. after 15 20 minutes, i went back to try start the jeep and it started! this was the 2nd occurrence. the first time it did not shut off. i have know idea why this is happening. i have contacted the dealer and scheduled it for service.

Takata recall. was driving at 75 mph on cruise control when my jeep slammed on the breaks. it then proceeded to have surges. no lights came on. it completely shut off but was still on. a error came on stating to service transmission. took to a dealership that said it was needing an update with the computer. went 340 more miles the next day and it done the exact same thing. lost all power steering. no warning lights came on. got towed and they told me no codes came up while plugged into the computer. was then told it was the fuel pump and would be a two week wait. was told it’s been a very common thing with the 2017 renegades so they’re back ordered. i was also told that the dealership the day before bypassed something to send me on my way. called chrysler and they aren’t helping at all. and i’m still 480 miles from my home. there should definitely be a recall on them. it will end up getting someone killed.

Car was in motion on a city street heading straight when it came to a complete stop. various messages have been displayed the most previous times saying "to shift vehicle must be stopped" i wasn't trying to shift? no codes ever being shown are the same. all issues cause the car to completely stop. this is extremely dangerous on the roads ofcourse. it's already had an update to the system the dealership said was needed. now back to doing the same thing so it's currently at the dealership again. just hit 20k miles. all oil changes have been made on time as the jeep has all warranties the chysler dodge jeep dealership offered. can contact dealership for more detail. this has been ongoing since january 2018

My jeep shut itself off while in motion on a city street on three separate occasions. i had to coast to the side of the road. the vehicle was diagnosed with a "fuel pump issue"

There appears to be a design flaw in the 2017 jeep renegade in that when the washer fluid is used, the fluid drains next to the air intake and a large amount of vapor is drawn into the main cabin. this was verified by a certified jeep dealer. washer solvent fluid can be poisonous and harmful if breathed in. the amount of vapor drawn into the cabin can be reduced by using the recirculate function, but some still leaks in and when driving in poor weather conditions, other vehicles throw salt and other debris on your windshield causing you to immediately use the fluid to clear the windshield and you have no choice but to breath harmful vapors in. in cold weather, if you set the recirculate function on so you won’t breath the vapors, then the defrosters won’t work and your windshield can fog or ice up. this is a health and/or driving safety issue that needs to be resolved or someone will get sick and/or hurt.

I was slowly pulling into a parking space. my foot was lightly on the brake, inching forward. i pressed down on the brake to stop, and the car suddenly accelerated, causing the jeep to jump over the double barrier retaining wall. i nose dived into the ground on the other side of the wall, approximately 3 lower then parking lot.

Cooling fan breaks and car overheats and smokes. this is a known issue for jeep renegade

The engine uses/loses approximately 1 quart of oil every 300 - 500 miles of daily driving. my daily driving is both city and highway. the jeep has been at the dealership multiple times (4 in 6 months) to investigate and correct this loss of oil. according to the owner's manual the oil changes can last as long as 10,000 miles. this jeep renegade averages an oil change every 2,000 to 2,500 miles due to this oil issue. there are "no" external oil leaks visible nor on the driveway therefore the oil must be leaking internally into "something". the dealership has been great servicing the vehicle but has not been able to correct the problem. the last information provided by the dealership was this jeep's engine is expected to lose 1 quart of oil per 2000 miles and recommended to change the engine oil every 2,500 miles. this is a new vehicle that has an engine problems that is unresolved and dangerous to drive. never knowing when the catastrophic failure will occur. i originally took this jeep to the quinn jeep/chrysler dealership in gloucester va but was told by the service manager that because this jeep was not purchased from quinn that quinn would not perform (any) service on this vehicle. there was an actual "note" added in the database to not service this vehicle.

While both stationary and in motion on a highway driving under the speed limit specified to safely engage my 4wd lock and snow terrain would not work. also both the check engine light and the oil pressure fail warning light have turned on and off multiple times while both stationary and driving on the highway and the street. the sensor has been replaced once and has continued to relight. after researching online i have found that a recall has began called t50- incorrect software combination/fmvss101-2017 jeep renegade with an issues of faulty circuit panels having multiple indicator lights lighting up deeming it unsafe to drive since the driver would not actually know when they are truely at risk and could be invoked in an accident. my jeep as of yet is not showing up in the recall per my vin# yet i am suffering from the same issues as the recall. my manual states to not drive my vehicle while these indicator lights are on but my dealer has advised me to drive it anyway. the federal vehicle motor safety standard (fmvss) number 101, “controls and displays. ” states vehicles with said issues fail to comply with their requirements.

Renegade engine suddenly shuts down within first mile after starting-up. happens daily whenever engine is cold. shut off on on-ramps, turns at at stops. very dangerous. instrument panel flashed all types of warnings, from "don't shift gear unless at a stop" to the engine light coming on for a short time. trouble began at 5800 miles

Car will not start. push button key start. lights on steering column light up, radio goes on car doesn't start. after multiple attempts of shutting car off and on the car delays and then kicks over. nothing we'd up when it happened when on the e at dealer.dealer replace a component in the push button key start. had car back for 5 days. happened again x 2. dealer took car and again could not get to simulate.

New jeep renegade with 1,600 miles lost power, jerked and stalled going up a mountain from alamogordo, nm to cloudcroft, nm. did this several times. unable to make it to our destination. no error codes appeared. we were able to turn around and drive to jack key dealership in alamogordo, nm, where they checked it out and were not able to find any problems with it so they reset the computer. after more than an hour, we attempted to drive back up the mountain and the same thing happened , but we didn't get as far the second time. we were extremely disappointed and decided to drive home back to el paso. took it to sunland park jeep the next day. they called yesterday and said they cannot find anything wrong, no error codes appear. they were told by corporate jeep to add two updates to the software. they drove it on transmountain rd. which it has always driven very well on before, since it is not as steep as the mountain we had trouble on. we will be picking up the jeep today but are very worried since we feel it is dangerous to stall in traffic. we bought this jeep brand new with 12 miles on it for our teenage daughter's birthday and we are very uncomfortable having her drive it. i'm very disappointed!!!!!!!!!

Dashboard indicated left rear turn signal out and then indicated right rear turn signal out and then indicated brake lights out on starting car and in motion. turn signal audible indicator was irregular. the situation only lasted a few minutes and then the dashboard indicator went out. i checked all light upon arriving home and they were and are now functioning normally..it's been a couple of weeks since this happened and my vehicle is not listed in the computer setting recall. should i be taking my vehicle in anyway?

After filling gas tank, i tried to start car and it took a couple of tries to get it to crank over. once it started, the car was making an intense knocking noise and sputtering so violently it actually caused the whole car to rock. after a few minutes it settled down and i pulled onto the street and the car just died... no light indicators at all and the instrument panel looked as if the car was turned off. again it took a couple of tries, but the car finally started and began knocking and sputtering about, then settled down. i entered the freeway onramp and noticed when i let my foot off the accelerator, the car would essentially die while going 60 miles an hour. i got off the freeway and by the time i stopped on the offramp, the car had died again. i had to put on my hazard lights for about 3 minutes until the car started again. i drove to a parking lot and pressed the onboard button for roadside assistance. they came and towed the car to the dealer. the outside temperature was 67 degrees and there was a slight rain sprinkle. before i got gas, the car was fine. i had 1/4 of a tank and the gas light had just come on. i had never used valero gas before and for some reason it took 13.5 gallons to fill the tank that already had a 1/4 of a tank in it. in the past the most i have fueled up while on less than 1/8 of a tank was 11.8. i'm not sure the fuel situation matters, but i thought i would mention it just in case. this issue was really scary and unnerving. the car has 4500 miles on it.

Tamara recall- i was driving on a major highway car would not accelerate stayed at 60 mph. it took about 3 to 5 min then started to pick up speed again. i was pressing the gas. but nothing and i was driving in the fast lane. this jeep is new only 300 miles on it

On oct 10,2017 at 12:30pm my jeep renegade trailhawk 2017 4x4. at 60 mph with cruise on three was jolt,felt like a my vechile was it in the rear. te parking brake light and traction lights illuminated on the dash.

Vehicle indicator lights come on, the radio changes channels on own when working, radio error, vehicle changes setting own it own, trunk opens on it on,, emergency brakes will engage on their own. this has happened periodically and it has done it while in motion and parked. dealership claims radio is bad. parts will not be in until april 2018. also trans mission has been jerking- claim can’t find anything wrong

Upon starting vehicle within garage with only 3,800 miles, dashboard warning messages indicated daytime running, tail, and turn signal lights not functioning (similar to earlier 2015 and 2016 issues searched on web). lights are physically operating with false warning messages - no bulbs out. at same startup, drivers side power seat not functioning at same time warning indicators seen for lights. seat inoperable and cannot be repositioned manually. upon fuse and relay change out for seat, warning lights did not reappear after restart of vehicle, however seat still non responsive and stuck in current full back position making it a hazard for a driver less than 6 foot tall to operate safely. next day, dealer was called and is unavailable to see vehicle for over one week. to try something different, vehicle was started by remote starter and power seat now functioning. probably a coincidence only that seat now works however vehicle to be taken to dealer for electrical troubleshooting.

Check engine light came on at 10,000 miles. took to the dealership and cooling fan went out. they estimate 6 weeks or more before they can replace the part.

Tthe steering wheel locked up on neice causeing her to go towards the right side, and back tires locked up and caused her to spin.. eventually getting hit from behind by another driver! it could have killed her, she couldnt do a thing with the steering wheel at all it needs to be recalled asap so others wont be hurt or worse killed. she was driving down the road to an appt. douglas ga
