2014 HONDA CR-V

I bought my wife\'s Honda 2014 CR-V new in October of 2014. We are both quite happy with the car, with one significant exception. The TPMS does not work. In 2014 Honda changed their TPMS from the conventional system which uses pressure sensors in the wheels. Instead, it compares the revolutions of the tires on the theory that a low tire will rotate faster than a normally inflated tire. This is a good idea in theory. However, in practice it does not work. The software must account for the fact that the tires do not rotate equally on turns. Also, slight (and accceptable) differences in pressure or tire wear will result in errors that the software must deal with. Honda issued TSB 14-006 in an attempt to remedy the problem, but if it has been applied to our car it has not worked. The TPMS light on our CR-V is unreliable. It occasionally lights when the tires are ok, but has failed to indicate low or flat tires for us several times.

My wife went to the dealer in Prescott, AZ, this morning to ask whether TSB 14006 has been applied to the car. The reply was that there is no recall and if the TPMS light does not stay on, there is no need to do it.

We can live with a non-functional TPMS system. Our previous cars worked well without it. Our normal maintenance procedures require checking tire pressures periodically. For some reason this car does not pull to the side when a tire goes flat. A TPMS should flag a tire failure when on the road. Three times we have had a tire fail while driving, with no TPMS indication. Our loss has been only three tires; no accident resulted. In my opinion this is potentially a serious safety problem.

This model has a faulty sensor for tire pressure and sensor light keeps going off. I purchased a pre-owned certified car and it had a plug on one of the tires, we didn\'t see that when we purchased the car. the repair department at one of the dealership is saying that we put the plug in one of the tires and that\'s the reason why sensor keeps going off, now they want to sell me the tire at $150.00. Dealer doesn\'t want to take the responsibility of the bad sensor… there are plenty of complaints about faulty sensor.

Pointed out to them Honda Service Bulletin 14-006, Dec. 17, 2014, \"Low Tire Pressure/TPMS Indicator Is On With VSA DTC 151-11.\" They reported that a replacement tire (same brand, size, etc. of factory installed tires) was \"too big.\" Tire replaced, but problem continued.

Will instruct him to pursue legal action against American Honda Motor Co., Inc. and both dealerships should any member of our family or I be seriously injured and/or killed in a tire-related accident stemming from the defective Low Tire Pressure/TMPS Indicator.

The tire pressure light keep coming on even the tires were all fine. This problem persist even right after the car was serviced at Honda\'s service department.

TPMS system goes off constantly. Dealer cannot fix.

First, what does the last question on your complaint form mean? It states: \"Has the vehicle been involved in one or more of the following? _accelerator; _accessories; _air conditioning/heat, etc.\" How does one know if the car has been involved in an accelerator, for example? I left all of those blank due to not knowing what you\'re talking about. Secondly, the vehicle has a faulty TPMS, and the light keeps coming on. We had the dealer perform the software upgrade, but the light keeps coming on every 800 miles or so.

The angle on the seat headrests is to far forward to be comfortable for people who need to sit up straight. Honda claims that the seats are designed to be reclined slightly to be comfortable. However, there are people who cannot sit reclined. In this case (sitting up straight) the headrest as it is angled, pushes the head forward and it is uncomfortable and causes neck issues.

Please have Honda provide a solution to this issue. As I see it, the headrest should be adjustable to allow those who sit straight up to adjust the angle of the headrest!

Drivers seat belt does not recoil, frayed where used dealer will not reair under warrenty

Windshield defroster does not work when first starting vehicle and when car idling. dangerous because no visibility in cold conditions. also, no heat on driver's side. honda released service bulletin 14-063 so they know about this issue but have done nothing to repair. i just paid the dealer $618 to have the heater core flushed 3 times but there is no guarantee that the issue will not return. very dangerous if driving in cold, icy conditions with low visibility and relying on defroster to function.

Sunroof exploded while driving on a highway. glass everywhere.

We were driving and we heard a loud bang, we pulled to the side of the road , when we looked all oil was coming out of engine and transmition. both engine and transmition are broken. no road hazard according to honda dealer/ mechanic. also air conditioning failed last year, without warning. the car was in motion. we were driving in the highway, no previous notice of any problem. the cruise control was on.

We are having repeat problems with the vtc actuator. this was replaced in 2018 under warranty but has since recurred. our car is now at the dealer with a diagnostic of timing chain, vtc actuator, and cam gear for a cost of 2100 dollars. it is no longer under warranty and the cost is being passed on to us. this complaint is all over the internet and it is a honda defect. please work to support consumers and issue a recall promptly. honda needs to fix this issue. we also, like many other, burn through oil. it’s amazing how everyone is reporting the same issues in cold starts. (rattles).

Vtc actuator timing valve rattles at cold start on highway when going over 50-65mph engine rattles very hard and vehicle shakes to point have to pull over. looked all over online and thousands of customers have same issue even lawsuits. took to middletown ny honda and they say out of warranty and nothing they can do but pay $1500to replace a known faulty part that once replaced could happen again or cause catstrostapic engine damage. please make a recall

Cold start: cvt actuator problems

Two times in the past seven years, the starter of the car has required to be replaced. there seem to be thousands of similar complaints about the problem with the starter for the 2014 honda crv.

2014 honda crv rattling noise upon cold start at 20,000 miles into owning vehicle. dealership could not locate the problem nor witness the problem each time we reported this whenever we brought the car in for oil changes...problem became progressively worse over the years. now that the rattling is essentially heard every time the car is started, we have taken it in. we are told we need a "new engine" because we need a new vtc actuator. we are also told that the car is burning oil. the new engine costs $4800 (nj). will this solve the problem that obviously is a honda defect? will the new engine have vtc actuators that will not fall apart in 1 year?... honda has known about this problem for years!

Vtc actuator is faulty and honda will not replace and now i'm being told that i need a new timing chain also from the vtc actuator not functioning properly. a timing chain that should last the life of the engine has failed at 90k miles. why don't you make honda issue a recall instead of sticking the owners with large expensive repair bills when honda has issued a service bulletin that the actuator is flawed. this is out of their service bulletin 16-012..... "the variable valve timing control (vtc) actuator is defective. corrective action replace the vtc actuator. "

My honda has had the front axle replaced twice and now the honda dealership is stating it needs to be replaced a third time. the passenger side also had to have the knuckle or whatever replaced where the tire extends. i mostly drive my child to school and myself to work and or highway driving. i have own cars since i was 16, am now quite past that year and have never had to have the front axle replaced three (3) times?? driving is very difficult but there is nothing i can do about it - the cost each time is close to 2k. thanks

Pulling into a parking space, when hitting my brakes, the engine suddenly accelerated and no, i was not pushing both the gas pedal and brake at the same time. in doing a web search, i found many instances of other crv owners having the same issue...sudden acceleration when braking

1) the system is draining the battery while at rest. have replaced battery 3 times, including last one several months ago. dealership cannot fix. safety: getting stranded is a huge safety issue. 2) car shimmies accelerating uphill. dealer cannot seem to duplicate. safety: affects confidence while driving. 3) tire pressure sensor is constantly firing off.

Upon cold start-up, loud noise comes @ initial start for a second or two when turning the key. the car then starts up and the noise goes away. it won't happen after the car is initially started. it will occur again when the car sits for a couple of hours. my mechanic said that it's somewhere in one of the cylinders.

Driver side 's air vent heat vent is not working properly. during winter, the windshield is not fully warm and hard to do defrost. according to honda, they recognized the issue of heator core and had issued a service bulletin about the issues of heater core problem to remove clogging. it should be recalled to fix the issue rather than making the owner replacing the expensive part. thank you.

The contact owns a 2014 honda c-rv. the contact stated that it was two components (upper control arm) that seemed to be a part of his steering, one on each side, that appeared to be rusted. the contact stated that he had no issues with his vehicle currently, but was concerned about his safety in the future since it is a part of the steering system. the contact stated that he contacted the dealer who advised him he would have to pay out of pocket to get his vehicle diagnosed and that there were no recalls concerning the vehicle or steering. the failure mileage was 40,000.

The 2014 crv has developed a problem with no heat out of vents on driver side or driver side defroster, though passenger side heat/defroster works. i found a service bulletin online a14-063, and had local honda dealership diagnose problem and then perform a flush of the heater core. this did not solve the problem and if there was any improvement it was extremely minimal. this issue is clearly a known problem or there would not be a service bulletin. however, even after that service bulletin procedure my vehicle continues to have the same problem. this lack of heat on the driver side and lack of heat through driver side defroster poses a safety issue when the windshield won't properly clear in winter driving. honda should offer a recall on the heater core for these vehicles with lack of heat on driver side.

The contact owns a 2014 honda cr-v. the contact stated while parked and attempting to open the rear lift gate, the lift gate failed to open. the contact stated while depressing the button on the rear hatch handle in cold weather, the lift gate failed to open. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure as they were attempting to diagnose the failure in a warm shop. the contact stated that the rear lift gate electrical mechanism in the handle was replaced; however, the failure recurred in cold weather. the vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the lift gate electrical mechanism a second time. the contact stated that the failure persisted in cold weather. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was unknown.

When it gets cold the windshield washer system freezes and no fluid will come out. i have used fluid certified to -32c and other additives and nothing helps. this seems to be a common problem on crv of this year and others. driving at highway speeds and suddenly getting a dirty window from splash back and then not being able to clean it and loose forward visibility is very dangerous.

Transmission shudders, vibrates, rumbles, shakes around 25mph and then again around 40mph

Key fob stopped working. doors continuously lock and unlock on their own whether it’s parked, driving, engine off or on and occupied or vacant. replaced fob battery but all problems still exist including key fob nog working. recall and class action suit settled for prior years but not 2014. same problem. honda needs to fix this issue

Current mileage = 51k i started to hear rattle sound when start up the engine when the mileage is around 20k. brought to dealer where i bought new from them and was told they couldn't hear anything. no fixed or repair since then. now, the rattle noise sound is much louder. on the web site forum there are too many people experienced the same thing i got. this problem should have been a recall for honda. i jut got a quote said to replace the vtc actuator and chain timing belt ~$2000 plus. but again several people in the forum did the repair and the problem came back after 1 year. should this problem be a recall for honda to take responsible the defect they created. https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-c24169_ds781393

At cold start-up, the engine rattles loudly for about two seconds. 

The a/c on the passenger side is cold. the a/c on the driver side is blowing hot air. this started about a week ago. in searching the internet, it seems that this is a fairly common issue with the 2014 cr-v and other years of the crv. yet there is no recall by honda. i am planning to take the car to the dealer and get this fixed, but since it is a common problem i am hoping that it will become a recall and that i will be able to get a refund as i am certain this is going to cost quite a bit.

Torque converter issues / shuddering when going from 2nd to 3rd gear

When starting the car (cold), the motor would start and then continue trying and made a grinding noise for about 2 seconds. once the car was hot and off for less than 5 min, it would start normally. after 5 min off, it would make the noise again. this would happen by either using manually the key, or the remote starter. went to the dealer and they said they needed to replace the vtc actuator and ended up spending little over $1k to repair it. looking online and in this site, i've found multiple complaints for this issue starting in 2015 for this model. there are also vtc actuator known issues for honda models between 2008 and 2012, so it is not something new for them. this should require a recall as it is a manufacturer's issue involving the engine, which could potentially escalate to something more serious and dangerous. thanks,

Bad grinding noise on cold start. defective actuator. this can damage engine. crv only has 58,000 miles. honda has known about this for years and needs to issue a recall. class action law suits have been filed in california & illinois. technical service bulletin 16-012.

My 2014 honda cr-v ex does not initially start-up following the 3-step starting the engine process as outlined on page 239 of the cr-v owner's manual.it sometimes takes up to 6 to 12 times for the engine to engage.the starter appears to be defective as it was made.

U0122 f-can malfunction (ecm)(pcm vsa control module unit; internal failure in abs modulator unit several indicators remain on my dashboard due to this needed repair which includes anti lock brakes possibly not working ; repair is needed for several different types of cars

Vtc actuator making rattling noise during start up in the morning and every five hours of sitting

Between every oil change i have to add oil, there are no visible leaks but it always uses oil and the low oil light will come on.

When starting the engine, it makes a grinding noise each time. no check engine or safety lights have come on and when the engine is cold it will shake very badly upon take off.

The engine had been having an oil consumption issue. i was back and forth with honda who kept pushing me around. filed complaints there as well. the first i was ever notified there was a problem is when i brought my car in for service and was told the oil was barely present. was notified by the mechanic this is a known issue that should be reported. i reported and nothing was really done. they would bring me in for an oil change, i would come back and they would somehow "forget" to document i returned. was told not to add oil and my car stalled and i crashed into a parking lot with my child in the back seat on a busy street. nothing was done to help me with the issue. i brought in every single oil change i had ever had on the vehicle and i was told i was not doing the routine maintenance even though i had proof. this is a huge concern for safety as me or my child could have been injured and honda did nothing to help or even attempt to help with the concern.

On august 10, i was driving at moderate speed in rancho santa fe, ca and without any warning, a shiny, elongated object was hurled into my windshield with such an alarming thud and force that i nearly veered off the road and was considerably traumatized by this event. i took the car to a honda dealer/service dept in carlsbad, ca and it was confirmed that it was the front bar of the car had become detached. i had gone back to the road and was unable to find the part. there were no prior signs of any problem with the front bar.

We have had 3 yokohama geolander cv go58 tires fail over the course of two months. two were from the purchase in 2020, one was a replacement for one of the 2020 tires that failed in july 2022. one just failed this evening, august 17, 2022. the tires are not just deflating, they are shredding with little advance notice. the tire pressure gauge comes one and within moments the tires begins to shred. the size of the tire is 215 70 16. my daughter is driving this vehicle in dallas, texas and we are concerned that these tires are bad.

The automatic transmission in the car causes the vehicle to shake and vibrate when accelerating. the faster the acceleration, the more violent the shaking.the problem seems to be when the car shifts from 3rd gear into the next higher gear(s). there is a significant, sometimes violent, shaking of the entire vehicle when shifting. the effect is that there is no confidence that the vehicle will shift according to the driver's expectations. this creates a situation where the driver can easily become distracted from nearby traffic situations, and easily cause a potentially dangerous consequence. base on the history of honda crvs from 2012-2013 and earlier, this has been a common issue with honda automatic transmissions in the past. this happens without prior warning (i.e. dashboard warning lights, messages, etc.)

A honda cr-v 4d 4wd has the following problems including a faulty vtc actuator (a loud, grinding engine noise for approximately 4 seconds during a cold start-up), timing chain, and excessive oil consumption. this car was bought on november 17, 2016 and the vtc actuator had to be replaced 26 days later (december 13, 2016) by the honda dealership with a total of 31,063 miles on the car. at this time, the timing chain has to be replaced along with the (intermediate shaft with seals) and the serpentine belt. all oil changes have been on time and up to date and a synthetic oil is used. with an additional 1,000 miles left to the due date of the next oil change, there was no oil present on the dip stick.

The lock actuator is malfunctioning. when driving, the driver's door unlocks and the lights turn on overhead, and the "door ajar" light blinks and beeps. this is very unsafe, as the driver side door unlocks and stays unlocked while driving on the highway and also at slower speeds.

The contact owns a 2014 honda cr-v. the contact stated while accelerating from first to second gear at approximately 20 mph, the vehicle would shudder. the contact stated that the shuddering diminished while the vehicle was accelerating. there was no warning light illuminated. the contact had taken the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission fluid needed to be replaced. the vehicle had been repaired. the contact stated that the failure recurred. the manufacturer had been informed of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

Vtc actuator making grinding noise on cold start up and after sitting for long periods of time even after running. timing chain is stretched making warning lights come on and go off.

The heat on the driver side blows cold air. the windshield on winter does not defrost completely due to cold air on that side it is the heater core that is blocked for the driver side. passenger side has no issue with heat. i’ve been informed that this is a heater core issue and needs to be flushed and have build up removed on heater core. my vehicle has only 40,000 miles.

Airbags did not deploy after being hit. other driver's vehicle took off the whole front my car. took a hard hit to the head from the door frame as none of my air bags deployed.

I hit a pothole in my car, and the side roof airbags deployed, compressing my neck and back, and left me with a head and back injury. no other airbags deployed, and there isn’t a single mark on the body of my car. no warning or indication lights at all prior to the incident. i have not made an insurance claim or police report, there were no passengers or other drivers involved. i am not prepared to pay a deductible for repairs that were unexpected and no fault of my own. the airbag deployed for no reason, and i do not want to liable for the repair costs. this also likely totaled my car, and i’m very lucky my son was not in the car with me at the time.

In cold weather, rear liftgate will not release resulting in failure to access rear of car. unable to access jack or spare tire in case of flat tire in colder weather (below 50f). puts me at risk if i have a flat tire during travel. review online indicates this is a known or common problem with 2014 honda crvs. several mentioned continuing problems with liftgate after spending several hundred dollars for repairs at dealers. problem continues to worsen as vehicle ages. intermittent problem with liftgate began in november 2015, has progressed and am now unable to use liftgate at all in cold weather.

We have to jump start our vehicle every time it is cold outside. sometimes when it is warmer. occasionally hear ticking sound inside of fuse box. headlights have to be replaced often. major electrical issue with this vehicle.

Inferior light for night driving. i avoid night driving but there are times when i must. had to take a pet recently at for emergency help

The vtc (variable timing chain) actuator is faulty. it cause premature wear on the vehicle’s engine. i had mine replaced at 148,648 miles and it is now needing a replacement again at 162,560 miles. when performing a cold start on the vehicle, user will hear a 2-3 second grinding noise coming from the engine. when i had to replace the actuator the first time, the wear was so bad on my engine, it also meant i had to get a new timing chain as too much stress had been put on mine and the chain began to stretch.

I have has this car for several years and recently the rear hatch stopped unlocking which brought up a extreme concern. this car has no way to open the trunk from the inside that is able to access with out a tool set. does this not fall under 571.401 standard 401: interior trunk release? there is also no way to open the rear hatch any way from the back like with a key or open feature. if your lock goes bad, you have to pay $500 to access the back. the current hatch release is behind a panel (that needs a tool to remove) then a small thin wire tool is needed to manually open the hatch. if you can not get out of the front passenger doors, or the seats are locked preventing folding down, you can not get out of the back of this car and i find this very concerning.

There is a rattling noise coming from the engine area at extreme cold startups since i had the car at 24,000 miles on it. when having the car parked with the emergency brake on at an incline and after leaving it ther for a few days, after i press the release on the brake after starting the car, the emergency brake sticks and the car won't move forward when accelerating or backward when releasing the brakes or accelerating. i have to repeatedly press and release the emergency brake to allow the car to release the brake from the wheel for the car to move forward. there is repeatedly a build up of rust on the rear wheels when the car is exposed to humid and wet conditions due to some flaw in the design, and it causes the car the have a loud thumping noise when applying the breaks . i have had to get the rear brakes refinished or shaved down to smooth them out repeatedly.

The engine has rattled noises when starting, i look online and a lot of people have the same problem, they said the vtc actuator’s problem, even after they changed it, the noise is back 1-2 years. honda needs to recall and replace this part for honda’s customers.

This honda crv has less than 100k miles and the transmission has a faulty actuator the car shudders between acceleration 20-40 mph. as a consumer i feel that i have been taken advantage of if honda doesn't issue a recall to this problem. you guys need to issue a recall on this problem. i did not buy a bag of cheetos it is a lot of money that i paid for this car $23k so the car maker responsibility to correct the problem that i have noticed a lot of customers have. thank you

From the moment we drove off the lot, this car had had one issue after another, nearly cause me to lose my job because i couldn’t make it to work due to the car being busted. it was getting really bad mpgs, they said it’s fine. it started overheating, they said the coolant fans and radiator cap were what was wrong, for a long while now the tire pressure management system has been on, 24/7, my tires are not low. i bought new tires for the crv. the mechanics don’t really seem interested in fixing anything.

Upon cold start, the vtc actuator makes a grinding noise. it also makes the noise when car not driven for 5 hours or more. it lasts about 1 to 2 seconds upon releasing ignition key at start. no check engine light or dash warning lights come on. concerned about timing chain damage. the car only has 33,385 miles on it. research on web, indicates multiple reports of same issue.

On the passenger side the airbag light came on and it won’t go off. i’m the only one that drives my car. i don’t drive that much! the only time i drive is, when i’m going grocery shopping in morning’s and on weekends running a few errands in the morning’s time. i only had this car for five years and a half.

2014 honda cr-v. consumer writes in regard to defective tire pressure sensor.

Drive train is malfunctioning. safety risk unknown. vehicle subject to "juddering." honda technical service bulletin 10-086 dated may 25, 2017 (superseding hsb 15-086 dated august 18, 2016) entitled "vibration while driving under light acceleration" presumably issued to dealers. dealers were advised to update a/t software "at the customer's request." also, transmission fluid to be replaced. i have an appointment with ide honda on june 26, 2023 for an assessment of juddering problem. there is no indication in the service records that the a/t software update was ever performed. however, the subject vehicle was sold to the previous owner as a "honda certified pre-owned" automobile. no warning lamps are showing.

At around 70,000 miles vehicle started to shudder when accelerating lightly between 20-35mph. the problem would occur intermittently. this has been getting steadily worse with age and milage. at present the vehicle has 85,000 miles and the shuddering occurs to some degree with each take-off from standing start between 20-40mph. i changed the transmission fluid with the oem manufacturer's type, and the problem recurred after a few months. i have not received a recall notice from the manufacturer, or returned the car to the dealer for service.

Oil dilution (gas mixing with oil) caused engine to overheat, making my car abruptly breakdown on a busy interstate and we were nearly rear ended because of it. now i need a full engine replacement. car is low mileage.

The car makes a very loud grinding sound when starting. a metal on metal sound. this was fixed in october 2021 when vehicle had 77,500 miles for about $800. dealership stated not covered by any recall or warranty. service agreement states replaced vtc actuator with vcg set. now, june 2023, the car is making the exact same noise. many honda owners are writing about this issue. honda corporation not taking any ownership for this issue. the "fix" is not a fix. honda is being complacent. owners are paying for this every 18-24 months. this needs to be addresssed by the company and not having owners pay over and over again to temporarily fix this issue.

Loud grinding noise when starting a cold engine. honda dealer replicated noise and stated that it was the vtc actuator-which needed to be replaced along with the cam chain for a total of $1,392.23 before the florida 7% sales tax of $97.46 totaling$1,489.69. other manufacturing years for honda received a recall notice. i believe that my 2014 honda cr-v should be included in that recall so that the dealer may reimburse me for this acknowledged defect in the honda engine.

Noticed one day that passenger seat had burn marks. have smelt on occasion what seemed to be burning smells in the past. don’t use the seat heater there since that was noticed. this is a danger.

Known honda issue- tsb a15-086 software update and trans fluid change in 2018 due to car juddering with light acceleration, did not fix problem. 10/20/23 car was road tested and concern was present. needs new torque converter to fix original concern

For over a year now, my honda crv 2014 has been producing a rattling noise from the engine on every cold startup. this happens regardless of the temperature outside. when i initially heard it, it was sporadic, again, on cold startup - so the rattling didn't occur every time. over time though, it will occur every morning, or after the car has been sittinwith the engine off for at least a few hours. i asked a mechanic to look at it after a few months after i had first heard it, because it continued to happen, even periodically. as it only happened on cold startup, i could not reproduce it for the mechanic - he could not find any obvious issue. after a few more months, i recorded the issue on video (and audio). the same mechanic said it may be the vtc actuator. i had another mechanic look at the same video, and he said it was almost certainly the vtc actuator. he said honda had recalled the vehicle because of the vtc actuator issue and sent me a link to a webpage with the information. it turns out it was only a technical bulletin rather than a recall. i called a honda dealership and provided them information about the issue. they asked for my vin and told me there was no recall after searching my vin. after some discussion with them, wherein i referenced the technical bulletin and inquired if honda would provide a replacement for the known issue, the representative said since it wasn't recalled, they could only diagnose and repair at full cost. after i continued to press the issue, she asked if i wanted the telephone number for honda corporate, so i could send them my complaint. i have no yet taken my car in for repair, as the cost will be very expensive. i don't understand why honda has not recalled the vehicles over this issue, given the fact that it is an issue they have admitted to, and it apparently is a potentially dangerous and life-threatening issue.

Vtc failed july 2018. honda stated i must pay for the repair costing $662. according to honda receipt the r5a new vtc was installed. now it's january 2024 and car vtc failing again. note: when i changed the valve cover gasket i looked at the vtc and noticed that it says r44. basically they lied about the repair and put another of the defective vtc. obviously a much more expensive repair this time due to honda negligence and dishonesty.

My vehicle was involved in an accident on the highway in which no front airbags were deployed. i’m grateful that my family and i weren’t seriously injured. my vin# shows that their aren’t any recalls on my vehicle but feel there may be something wrong with my airbags.

A vtc actuator rattles and is damaging the timing chain that will fail and cause catastrophic engine failure on road that can cause life threatening event

On 2/21/24 as we were exiting a hospital parking garage and i slowed down to stop at exit where road is, the engine suddenly had an uncontrolled acceleration. difficult to stop but i pressed hard on brakes (which alone did not stop vehicle)and immediately put gearbox in neutral, stopping vehicle before it made it on the street. after that, no more incidents on 2/21 or 2/22.. should be noted i had total of 3 such incidents in past 4-5 months, this was the third. one occurred as getting out a store parking lot, slowing down at street interface and suddenly engine acceleration, used same technique as above. another was at end of our street coming to a stop at interface to another street, same occurrence. in each of the occurrences i can verify that it was neither a car mat issue (it is anchored in car) not an accidental stepping o accelerator. . have not contacted dealer or honda as i note neither has ever found an answer to similar occurrences with others. for now drive carefully and one hand on shift lever most of the time when coming to a stop as occurrences appear to be far apart.

There is a known issue with 2014 honda crv torque converters. my car has always had a funky shift which honda told me it was just the new cvt transmission. then back in august my mother drive my car and said that was not correct. i took it to honda and they said it was the torque converter. it is causing my vehicle to become undrivable with out feeling safe. it judders, shakes and doesn't shift properly. i contacted honda and they acknowledge that it is a known issue with their cvt transmission. they currently have 1200 orders for torque converters on back order that shows you how much of an issue that this is.

The paint is suddenly peeling off the car in large pieces. this is occurring above the rear window. the paint is white and i've found numerous complaints of others experiencing the same issue with the honda white paint. honda states they will not cover this as it is no longer under warranty and there are no active recalls on this vehicle. when i asked if this was covered for the 2013 honda crv they would not answer but suggested i could 'submit a claim to the nhtsa to have my vehicle added'. this is the first honda i've ever owned and have never seen this happen. honda needs to be held responsible for this repair. no car that is garage kept should have the paint peeling off it. please advise next steps.

Rattles and shakes between 25 and 40 mph, bad actuator will cause timing failure. it only has 71,000 miles. honda is well aware of this defect in this vehicle. when will they be held accountable to fix this issue? at 33k i was definitely taken for a ride! no engine warning light either!

My tailgate does not open in cold weather. it was been serviced by honda several times. they said they fixed it and it still does not work so i cannot use my trunk at all in the winter. i have a disability and need to use my trunk for groceries and medical equipment. now honda says it is out of warranty and wants to charge me for something they never actually fixed (garden state honda). please recall and permanently fix this, many people have the same issue.

The tailgate door doesn’t open normally sometime i have to push the button more than 10 times then it open but most of the time it doesn’t open.i use this car as a spare or for emergency only so i just wait for honda to recall, hopefully i don’t want to spend a lot of money to fix because the warranty has expired (41 months but only 25000 miles)but now i use this car every day

On december 23, 2024, i purchased a 2014 honda crv. a few days later i noticed that the heating system was not working properly. i called the dealership and told them about the problem. they gave me an appointment with the service department to have the heating system looked at. the diagnosis was that it had a bad heater core. the service attendant told me that it was a common problem with the 2014 honda crvs and also honda sent out service bulletin (service bulletin #14063)about the problem. i stated it had only 49,000 miles on this vehicle. how can this be with honda building reliable cars. they advised me that all it needed was a flushing of the heater core and that it was going to be at my expense and that there would be no absolute guarantee that it would solve the problem. if it did not work, the next step would be to replace the heater core, again at my expense ($1400.00) the flushing did not work at which the heater core was replaced. i don’t understand why this problem was not addressed by the honda company. if honda doesn’t do a recall, at least stand by the honda name and reimburse the owner for the defective part. again, 49,000 miles.

While parking at friend house behind her car partially on sidewalk, had to go fwd and reverse to park correctly. when switching to drive as car was on very slight decline (rear end higher) got sudden engine acceleration. put in neutral , saw rpm climb to about 3000 rpm and then several seconds later dropped to normal. all past unintended accelerations have been with front end on decline (lower than rear). happens randomly maybe every few months. have filed prior reports. am on alert with hand on gear shift when slowing to a stop now.

I currently own a 2014 honda crv and there is a specific part that was replaced 3 times called a vtc actuator and its a faulty design all the 2012 to 2014 honda crvs have the same issue and i'm afraid it will eventually ruin my engine, everytime on start there is grinding sound and when i first got the vehicle in 2015 in would only do the in the winter then in warmer weather it wouldn't now its constant on every startup.

My 2014 honda cr-v has developed a shudder at approximately 2500 rpm, feels like it is in the transmission but not sure. internet research shows several people experiencing the same issue and a resolution of a software update and transmission fluid change is required.

Windshield defroster does not work when first starting vehicle and when car idling. dangerous because no visibility in cold conditions. also, no heat on driver's side. honda released service bulletin 14-063 so they know about this issue but have done nothing to repair. i just paid the dealer $618 to have the heater core flushed 3 times but there is no guarantee that the issue will not return. very dangerous if driving in cold, icy conditions with low visibility and relying on defroster to function.

Faulty tire pressure monitor system (tpms). this sensor gives faulty reading even when tires are checked at a military base auto shop and local dealership repair shop. was shown how to remove sensor light by customer server at dealership repair shop. the light comes on while driving highway miles. left sensor light on so dealership would see it but he would not change it as it was not on a recall. i was told there are numerous complaints concerning the same problem by owners of 2014 honda cr-v everywhere and honda is not fixing the problem. please get them to fix the problem before a tire does loss pressure and there is an accident. *tr

First drive of the day the transmission is ragged. earlier 2014 crv had recall. mine did not. i had software updated and transmission fluid changed as recommended for earlier versions. problem went away. honda should recall the later 2014's as well.

Faulty tire pressure monitor system (tpms). this sensor gives faulty reading even there is no differential pressure on all four tires. the tpms light comes while the car is running and after it travels longer than 50 mi on a highway. i brought the car back to the dealership for this problem at least 5 times and the problem had not be resolved. there are numerous complaints concerning the same problem by owners of 2014 honda cr-v across the country. honda is not fixing the problem and please force them to recall the car and fix the problem for good.

Out of the blue, my honda cr-v 2014 won't start, i have to jump it, and went to the auto parts store, got my battery check out and everything level of the battery came back normal. lucky me, it was happened on the weekend and i had someone who happened to be around and help me. i was so afraid that it could happened to me any time, so i decided to buy a new battery. maybe the cashier thinking i had enough money to waste and not worry about burning my money for unnecessary things. i paid: $144.93 (tax included) i don't think this is acceptable for a 2 years old car and battery test came out normal, not weak. hope this is not a major thing, but who knows.

Every 14-15 days, i am having to get a jump because the car would not start. i had the battery checked and was told that there is not problem with the battery. when driving the car, the car "shudders" when approaching 20 mph and 40mph.

The lights on this vehicle are not good. very hard to see with at night using dims and the bright lights are absolutely worthless. don't think that it is an adjustment or alignment problem, think it is a engineering problem in the design for the whole lighting housing and use of bulbs. something really needs to be done to correct this issue! my older 2003 cr-v with hazed over covers did a better job than this newer vehicle by 11 years!

I have owned 2014 cr-v for 3 & half years since it was new. the indirect tpms warning system has never been correct, it always gives false readings. when i picked up a nail in one tire, the warning light never came on even though the tire pressure dropped by over 50%. when the warning light does come on, i check all tires and they are all fine - every time. after multiple frustrating trips to dealer, the best they could do was a software update. now instead of false warnings 3 -4 times a month, now i get false warnings 3 - 4 times a year. but the warnings are always false! like the little boy that keeps crying wolf, this system is counter productive in that owners will begin to ignore the warning system altogether.

The dim lights are not even usable. i drive with the bright lights on. the brights are as bright as the dim lights on every other car i have owned. honda has no fix. i have been trying since 2014 to have better lights installed. they can't even do this at my expense. this car is unsafe to drive in the dark.

I was parking in a parking space behind a parked car in front of my car. i applied the brakes, and my car lunged forward with a tremendous acceleration and hit the parked car in front of me. at least, almost $5,000 in damage was done.

During cold weather, when starting the car in the morning, it makes a weird noise, not sure if it is the transmission. any time i speed up the car from 20 pmph to 35 mph, the transmission makes a noise similar to ambulance noise. i took it to the dealer because it is under warranty yet and they said it is normal, i don't agree with this, please investigate.

Ride is alarmingly rough & unusually loud. some bumps made the car jump & veer fractionally. all surfaces other than perfectly smooth cause overtly rough ride & loud road noise.

The car vibrates heavily when accelerating slowly between 20-30mph.

Burning rubber smell from brakes. the first time this occurred was when the car was six months old and after a rough winter in northeast, dealer informed that salt and water may have washed off protective brake coating, lubricant....this same problem has recurred on at least another three occasions, in some instances with or without harsh winter conditions. the foul rubber burning smell usually goes away 10-15 minutes after car cools off but the problem has certainly persisted. i've owned three honda cars prior to my '14 crv and dealers explanation just does not make sense.

Engine caught fire in my 2014 honda cr-v while i was driving to work the morning of january 19, 2017. i purchased the cr-v new in early 2015. at the time of the engine fire there was 49,585 miles on the vehicle. the only work ever completed on the cr-v were timely oil and filter changes, and tire rotations. there was not any suggested or required work that was not completed. there was nothing unusual with the car, no noises, no odors, and i was the last person to drive the vehicle prior to this day. forensics report concluded that the fire originated in the engine compartment in and around the fuel system. at 8:50am on thursday morning january 19, 2017 i left my home in nj to travel to work 14 miles away. in leaving home the cr-v started normal. i was about 10 minutes into the typical 45 minute drive. i was driving on a two lane highway. i was slowing down to about 10 mph to merge into one lane. i noticed light white smoke coming in from the passenger side vent. i then noticed more grayish smoke coming from the right side of the engine hood. i pulled over off the highway onto the shoulder. there was nothing unusual on the panel of the car, no lights, no gauges, the temp was normal. i called 911 at about 9:01am. the fire department had the fire out in about 12 minutes. the cr-v of course was a complete loss.

Tire failure - continental cross contact lx 225/65/r17 while traveling at approximately 40mph with mean temperature of 74 degrees and max of 84 the tire blew out with no apparent reason to do so. very clearly there were distinct flaps on the back side of the tire that gave in addition to the front side. appeared as it the wall weakened.

This present day my car makes a sreaming noise like belt is bad they changed the belt the alternator and something else and they can not find the problem. i asked for a 2017 when i came in to buy a vehicle the dealer insisted on me getting this 2014 when i asked multipul times for a 2017 he said this is a good deal. the first day i got it 6/16/2017 the vibartion was bad i had to bring it back 6/17/2107 they had it 4 days. i picked it up and on the same day the lights were dimming. sat moorning i reported the issue. 3pm i got in the vehicle to change my shift at work it would not start. the man who came to tow it could not start it on arivial. mon 6/22/2017 i came in and demanded a new car like i requested when i came in because this vehicle was having to many problems for me to be paying $25,643. the dealer wanted to give me 1,000 less than i paid for it and charge me $32,300 for a honda crv lx 4wd thats marked 27,285 online. i refused to pay that and felt like i am being cheated. he said the problem could be minor let them fix it. i am paying $25,643 for this car and its been in the shop 3xs within 2 months. they want me to keep this car and i keep requesting a 2017 because thats what i came in for and the dealer sat back in his chair and keap telling me the 2014 honda exl is a good deal and did not show me the 2017 he wanted me to get the 2014 honda crv exl when i wanted a 2017 lx special adition 4wd. i admit it is a nice vehicle but it has too many problems and i want my money back and get the 2017 lx crv i requested and i want a different deal thats not going to cheat me out of my money. south hills was honest they was giving me 2017 for 400 amonth at $27,285 when my credit came up and at the time it did it was fair

On the morning of july 25th, 2017, i observed a problem with the rear window in my 2014 honda crv . unlocking and opening the driver's door to put something in and then closing the door, i heard a loud crunching noise coming from the rear of the car. the driver's door was opened again and i got into the car and shut the door. again the same crunching noise was heard. looking in the rear-view mirror, i observed the rear window had shattered into a "million" pieces. the noise that was heard was the pieces of glass dropping out of the window. in addition to the glass in the middle of the window that was dropping out, i observed the edges around the glass were also missing (had fallen out). i am the only driver of the car and do not remember anything hitting the window from the outside or inside. all the doors had been locked so it does not appear to be attempted burglary. it is presumed that the glass shattered and imploded due to defective glass manufacturing and/or installation. the temperatures in our area can reach 100 during the day and down to 65 during the night.

"run away engine" there have been 5-6 occurrences within the last 2 years that are unexplainable. infrequently while trying to stop either in traffic or for pedestrians the engine suddenly revs to approx. 2200 rpm while i'm on the brake. on 3/5/17 i was with a exford engineer who witnessed it happen in traffic. when i put the vehicle in park to try and stop the crv, the engine revved way up before it snapped and went back into a normal drive situation and went down to normal rpm. it now has been reported to honda 3x and back to a dealer twice. i will now call honda again but this is getting more dangerous each time. it has happened in ca and az but while reoccurring, it's not a regular item. it appears in the software or engine computer to him.

Starter does not fully disengage after starting ,especially on cold mornings.i feel this will damage the flywheel. grinding noise! note ; vechicle was stationary at time.

Driving about 10 mph, i turned the steering wheel quickly to enter a parking place when the power steering turned off. i was able to park and turned off the engine. when i restarted the car, the power steering came back on. i tried to duplicate this event but it did not occur again. i reported this to my dealer but they said they did not have any information on this.

Tpms light comes on every time i drive over 60 mph for more than a few miles. the bumpier the road, the sooner the light comes on. all air pressures are correct per manufacturer recommendations.

No matter how i shift the headlights of my cr-v, they are either too high or too low in visibility. i don't know if it is possible to find a happy medium where the low beams are just low enough to the road and create a nice field of vision, along with the high beams being low enough to see far and not up in the trees. why does this car not have two different bulbs for low and high beams? the lighting is unreliable and i feel very unsafe at night when i am driving, espeically along roads that are not well-lit.

Takata recall - air bag did not deploy - i was traveling west on the us 60 freeway in mesa, arizona and was driving in the right lane of a 4 lane freeway, traveling 65 mph. a car driven by a young lady, realized that she missed her exit and came from the car pool lane, on the far left side to try and get off on an exit called dobson road. according to the witness statements she had to speed up to pass everyone to try and get off on the exit she was going to miss. as she cut across, i just happened to be driving past that exit and while she was going 75 to 85 mph, she hit me on the driver's side door. at the last second, i noticed something out of the corner of my left eye and turned my head and that is when she hit me. the next thing i remember is trying to get out of my car, but i couldn't because the door was smashed in, right where the hinges are. she hit me in a strong part of the door. evidently, after she hit me her car pushed me into the wall of the on ramp. i don't really remember what happened between the time i turned my head, until the time i was trying to get out, to no avail. the side airbag and the front airbag never went off. the airbag on the passenger side, the side that hit the wall, did go off. i am lucky that the car did not roll over, but i think it was the wall that prevent that, because the wheels on the passenger side were at a 90 degree angle from sliding sideways. i suffered whiplash, of course and my neck and back are still not right. i had to get steroid shots in my back to be able to go to work because i started a new job. i had a concussion and still get headaches, and i tore my left acl, which has been replaced and now the only way to repair it is to have a knee replacement. i am still not okay and i know that a big reason for my severe injuries due to airbags not deploying. accident occurred on 10/7/16 and i'm still suffering. *tr

Re: 2014 honda cr-v ~ power tailgate opener switch assembly, honda part no. 74810-t0a-a02; honda service bulletin16-063 issue: power tailgate will not open from the outside to whom it may concern: we purchased a 2014 honda crv used from a local honda dealer in 2020. not long after the purchase, we experienced problems opening the tailgate which is designed to open with the key fob. frequently, the button under the tailgate lift does not activate and the tailgate will not open. it does not seem to matter if the weather is cold or not. we are presently unable to conveniently access 32.9 cubic feet of space behind the second row of seats due to the faulty tailgate opener. the second row of seats must first be lowered before groceries, pets, etc. can be placed into that rear cargo area. this presents a potential safety issue. if we were to be involved in a serious auto accident, first responders might not be able to open the tailgate to access the rear cargo area if it were necessary to extract occupants. we researched this tailgate opener problem online and learned that many honda crv owners have posted online comments reflecting they have also had issues with this problem. some claimed they had the switch replaced either under warranty or not, and still experienced the same problem. we were amazed at the number of postings concerning this issue. this issue is bigger than our 2014 honda crv. it is apparent that the oem equipment switch assembly installed by honda is faulty. we feel that honda should offer a voluntary recall to all honda crv owners who have been impacted by this faulty switch assembly. we plan to address this issue with our congressional representative and other federal agencies to ensure that happens. we appreciate the opportunity to file this complaint online with the nhtsa and look forward to your response.

I own a 2014 honda crv. brought in to hopkins mn honda on 10-13-16 because there was cold air blowing from the drivers side when the heat was on. they flushed the heater core with clr and drained and filled the radiator. brought it back to hopkins mn honda on 12-21-16 because the air was still not warm on the drivers side. they pulled it into the heated service area and said the temp tested ok. that is was a 4 cylinder engine and they don't get as warm. have been suffering with this problem since then. car has been driven very, very little as working remote. again, when weather turned cold and heat is needed air was cold coming out on your feet and also through the vents on the drivers side. brought it to golden valley mn tire & service on 1/14/2021. they did diagnostic testing. flushed the heater core with clr but did not help. there are several large particles floating around in the fluid that was created because of the issues with the heater core. advised that vehicle needs a new heater core. called hopkins mn honda and spoke with chi a service technician. he stated they would have to run a diagnostic and let me know. i advised i had brought it in twice before and it was never repaired. was given excuses the second time i brought it in dec 2016 as to the engine being 4 cylinder and it won't warm up as much as a car with a larger engine. i asked chi if he knew if this was a known problem. and he said yes with crv's and they get them in to repair. i said i read it is an issue with honda crv's 2012-2014. he said yes. i said why isn't honda doing anything about this. he said he didn't know. i asked to have the service manager roger call me back to discuss as i am being told by another repair place i need a new heater core. still waiting to hear from service manager at hopkins mn honda as of today 1/14/2021.

Vtc actuator is needing constant replacing asap or it will stretch the timing chain which will cause severe engine damage. i am on my 2nd replacement of the vtc actuator in 2 weeks. no major damage has occurred as yet but i am trying to prevent it from happening. the honda fix is not a fix

The rear door hatch latch sticks when the temperature falls below 40 degrees so the rear door hatch will not open. there is no key, fob control, or lever inside the vehicle to try and get the rear door hatch open. apparently there are numerous complaints from other honda crv owners regarding this issue.

At the speed of 25 - 30 miles per hour, the entire vehicle begins to shake and shimmy. i am the second owner of the vehicle. the shaking was so bad last week i was really scared! i looked up the description on google and wow!z there are sooooo many other people having the same problems! they said it was a program issue for the transmission in this vehicle! however, when people take the vehicle in for the program upgrade; and get the transmission fluid drained and replaced, the problem quickly returns!!!!!!!! so.....how do i get this vehicle fixed! i am frightened to drive it!!!!!! i bought the car through hendrick toyota on rivers ave in north charleston, sc. they took the honda crv vehicle in as a trade for a toyota. so, what do i do with this dud!!! it is a bad seed as for a car. who is going to make good on the bad part called a transmission? it has been doing this for several months beginning soon after i made the purchase!

A few months after buying this used vehicle in 2018, my first honda, i started having battery issues. i would drive the car to work, and when leaving, 9ish hours later, the car wouldn’t start. i had to call for a jump start at least 6 times in one month. i thought because it was a such a cold winter, this may be affecting the vehicle’s electrical system, so i bought a portable jump starter, which i had to use a few other times. winter passed and i just when i thought the problem was resolved, i began to have the issue when i’d drive the vehicle for short distances too, even in spring/summertime. i now always have to carry my portable jump starter because i never know if the car is going to start on it’s own. sometimes, i can go weeks without having to jumpstart it, other times i have to jumpstart it every morning. it’s such an inconvenience and shouldn’t be necessary. i’ve had the battery checked multiple times, and each time tests good, my mechanic has inspected the vehicle and found no other issue with the alternator, battery, or any other vehicle part. i’ve done research and found that this happens a lot with many other hondas, not just cr-v, but the company has refused to order a recall or admit that it’s even a problem. this is wrong. homda needs to dig deep and find their issue. so many drivers around the country cannot be making the same mistake and this is not a coincidence. it needs to be a recall, and honda needs to fix it.

Loud grinding noise at startup. appears to be a common issue in this year, make and model that can cause engine failure while driving.

Driving home from work on the freeway during a bad storm the defroster was blowing cold air on the windshield and it completely iced over. i could not see. not to mention-- i was freezing cold. the passenger side was blowing heat, however all vents on the driver side were blowing cold air. i took my car to a honda dealer. without even looking at it, they seemed to know exactly what was wrong and told me it was $330 to repair. i took it to an independent mechanic who charged me $172 to flush out the heater core. the mechanic also told me it would probably happen again.

When i make a sharp turn usually to the left, the car doesn't go when i accelerate. i have to back off of the gas pedal then accelerate again, which causes an unsafe situation. i have taken it back to the dealer 3 times and they say they can't duplicate the problem even though it happens frequently with me. the car is stationary when i want to accelerate like at a light where i am turning left.

The vehicle shudders when slowly accelerating from 20 mph to 30 mph while driving straight on level ground.the car vibrates badly. happens in cold weather and hot. does not vibrate above 30+ mph.

This is an entermentent issue. the starter moyer grinds after the engine has started. the tpms light comes on intermentenly even if the tires are at the proper inflation pressure. hope honda does something about these issues.

Grinding noise upon car starting. upon starting the car there is a grinding noise that last approximately 1-1.5 seconds. i first noticed this sound about a month after purchasing the car. i called the dealer and they told me that it was normal and that they hear this complaint often. they said that honda was aware, but that they have not placed a recall on it. i accepted that they were giving me accurate information and figured i would get a recall on it eventually. recently, the car continues to make the grinding noise, but also acts as if it doesn't want to start on cold mornings. makes this grinding noise approximately 75% of all starts of the car since purchasing it. i have had the battery, alternator, and starter checked. was told that they do not show any problems.

The passenger door will no open from the outside or inside when the door is unlocked. being parked at home, i went to open the door from the outside and was unsuccessful. dealership says the door actuator is out and they see this on honda's very frequently. i consider this a major safety feature and feel it should have already been recalled if it has been known. apparently this is not uncommon for honda's and they have had a recall on this in prior year models.

My 2014 honda crv is experiencing some grinding noise upon start up in the morning or whenever it is cold outside. the vehicle is always parked. then after a few seconds it goes away. it has been happening every since i purchased it in 2014. took it into the dealer and they said that it is known issue and honda is working on it. it has been two years now and nothing has happened. i've heard that it could the vtc actuator. dealer has to check it once again. so many complaints about this same problem. has not been resolved or resolved properly. i'm afraid if i keep driving it with this honda known problem something seriously could go wrong with the engine.

Engine makes a rattling noise when accelerating. every single time the accelerator is being pushed, i hear a rattle. i am just coming back from the local mechanic who told me that this could be something related to engine and is going to cost 2000 or more and just did a oil treatment to the engine just to see if that would help before doing an open heart surgery(messing with engine). i hope honda comes back and fixes this problem as it is so common with so many of their 2014 honda crvs.

I have an issue with my crv that my auto is shaking while i'm driving under light acceleration. i visited 2 different locations of honda dealership. they both asked me to have diagnosis.although i know what is wrong. so, i got diagnosis from honda in falls church, va. they verified my concern that technician recommends to perform transmission fluid flush and transmission software update. my concern is my auto mileage is now over 82k so i'm not available to have the service under warranty. i heard that many crv owners have the same issue. i hope i could get the service under warranty

Paint is peeling on the rear spoiler

Purchased vehicle from my mother-in-law. she had noticed the rattling sound but her mechanic said his did the same thing and not to worry about it. we immediately noticed that vehicle grinds on cold startup. is starting to rattle a little on acceleration. called my honda dealer, told me it would be $1000 to replace the vtc actuator. he also said that it would eventually happen again, and that it doesn't harm the engine so we shouldn't worry about it. researching online uncovered a service bulletin (09-010) for crv's up through 2013, but not covering 2014. honda is not solving their engineering problem and are making the consumer pay for it.

Engine lost power and seized while traveling on rural route. local mechanic said gasoline had leaked into engine and had it towed to urse honda in bridgeport, wv. urse estimated $9,000 in repairs

Trunk door will not open in cold temps. i live in new england. the grease in the locking mechanism freezes. once it warms up outside i no longer have the issue.

Vehicle grinds on cold startup, every single time. vehicle also rattles on acceleration. took it to mechanic and was told timing chain and vtc actuator needed to be replaced to the time of well over $2000. after research, i have seen that this is an ongoing issue with all 2014 honda crvs but honda has refused to take responsibility for this issue. this problem leads to engine failure and honda is continuing to build these vehicles with defective parts. the technical service bulletin out does not take responsibility. i am asking that honda establish a recall for the vtc actuator and timing chain to prevent resulting engine damage from these defective parts.

Clear coating over paint on the drivers side door is peeling off extensively.

I purchased a 2014 honda crv with 13,000 miles on in, a year after i purchased it at 31,000 miles the vtc actuator had to be replaced as it would make a grinding noise on start-up. it has been 2 years and i am having the same issue with the noise and only have 65k miles on it. this appears to be an ongoing issue in honda forums and the part is clearly defective or there is an issue with it as there is a safety bulletin issued, but no recall yet.

The sunroof has rust along the paneling area that i can see. not sure when the rust developed, i’m sure while stationary and in motion.

After my car has sat for 5-6 hours or longer, at start up my engine grinds for 1-2 seconds. reading similar problems online they say it is a faulty vtc actuator that honda knows about but refuses to fix or recall. is there plans to recall this faulty part before my car fails and breaks down on the side of the road? this noise has happened every day for the last year or so.

Vehicle experiences shudder under light to normal acceleration at or around 2000 rpm. there are service bulletins out from honda with corrective actions to be taken. honda wants to charge to perform the fix with no guarantee it will solve thew known problem.

On 5/27/2020 at 11:20 pm my 2014 honda crv was parked in front of my home and suddenly combusted.first smoke appeared on the driver side then flames. it was last driven around 9:45pm that evening without issue. the vehicle has no history of physical or mechanical malfunction. the incident set off my ring bell camera since it motion sensitive (will provide footage if requested).

Low heat from drivers side which causes the windshield not to defrost in the winter. also cold inside car. honda is aware of this and put out service bulletin #14-063. says heater core partly clogs reducing heat to drivers side. this problem happens when car is stationary or in motion. this is a safety issue that should be recalled to fix the problem

Driving the interstate i-35w on saturday june 13, 2020 in minneapolis, mn we heard a loud bang, sounded like a rock hit the car. being close to home we pulled into the driveway but did not see any visible damage on the sides of the car nor underneath. two days later opening the ceiling door to the sunroof to find out that the glass had a big hole in it. we were not near an over pass. we were in a construction zone but no where close to any construction vehicles. not sure that construction was occurring at the time. all we can think of is either a rock fell from the sky or the class imploded under the heat of that day. *tr

Vehicle began making a rattling noise upon cold starts. took to the dealer and was told the car needed a vtc actuator for a cost in excess of $1,000. a quick google search described wide spread issues with this part and that it is a recurring issue and could damage timing chain for costs in excess of $5k. honda serv bulletin 16-012 describes issues but honda does not cover under engine warranty. very costly defect for a make of car that has had a good reputation.

On 2 separate occasions, the vehicle was parked on an incline and started rolling backwards after being parked (automatic transmission) for about 10 to 15 minutes. once it hit the car behind it, and on the other i was able to get back in the car and hit the brake (which responded) before it rolled out into the street. the dealer was unable to reproduce the program, and i was told they are going to do nothing unless it malfunctions in front of them, or i get an engine error code. *tr

I had not used the car all day, but around 5:45 pm (03/12/20) i drove approximately 2 miles to an appointment. as i pulled into the parking area in front of the shop, i saw what i thought was steam coming from under the hood. i turned the engine off and tried to release the hood latch, while i was doing that a man banged on the driver's side window and told me to quickly get out of the car. i did so and as i was walking towards the shop the car burst into flames. see attached pictures. someone from the store call 911, a policeman arrived and tackled the fire with his fire extinguisher but it failed to control the fire. shortly afterwards 3 fire engines were on the scene. they asked people to move adjacent cars and evacuated the stores around the fire. they eventually put out the fire.

I have honda cr-v 2014 with only 41k, the same problem is with the shake, judder, vibration between 25-30 mpg.

I live in mn, and only cold air blowers out of the heater vent on the drivers side. this is a known issue by honda (tsb 14-063), it is a clogged heater core. i have had it fixed 2 times ($120/per time) and it keeps happening. this is a serious issue when it is 20 below and there is no heat in my crv.

At cold start up, the engine rattles loudly for about 2 seconds. possible fix, variable valve timing control, vtc, actuator replacement. started at 36,000 miles. known issue for years by honda. should be recalled as it has been known by them and is expensive to replace. have tried working with them, and they are not willing to cover any cost.

2014 honda crv ex-l with only 65k caught on fire - burned entire vehicle. no major service items. filed complaint with honda north america. vehicle was driven to town(25mi) - upon the return to residence fire broke out under engine in driveway. car serviced every 5k miles. no other issues prior to fire with vehicle.

On cold start-ups there is a loud rattle coming from the engine. my cr-v only has 54,000 miles on it and this is ridiculous. i am told it could be the vtc actuator and can only hope that my extended warranty will cover it. not the quality i expect from honda at all. researching this can lead to oil consumption and a stretched timing chain and premature engine failure.

I would like to file a complaint for honda’s vtc actuator. my honda crv 2014 was purchased brand new september 2014. at 50,000 miles the vehicle started to make a rattling/grinding noise when started in the cold. i was assured by the dealership that this was nothing to worry about. i have now found out that there is a known defect from the vtc actuator that all honda crv’s from this year encountered the same issue because of the defect from honda. as a consumer who purchased a new vehicle, honda should have replaced/fixed this issue on any vehicle that is having this problem since it is a defect. i still have yet to fix it and would hope that a recall should be made since they are aware of the faulty part that has been installed in brand new vehicles.

While driving at highway speed (60mph) on a sunny but not hot day (45 deg.) we heard a loud bang like something hit the roof of the car. there was no other traffic in the area and we did not pass under any overpass. upon inspection of the car after stopping, we saw the sunroof had a large hole (6-8 inches) and appeared to have exploded from the inside, since the broken area was bulging up. we submitted a claim with our insurance carrier, and was told we would have to pay the $100 deductible. we expect to get the damaged sunroof replaced next week when the glass is available. the glass store put a sheet of cling plastic over the hole for temporary closure.

At about 40k miles i started getting a grinding/rattling noise on some cold starts. took it to the dealer but they could not replicate it. a year later i research the issue myself and find out its the extremely common vtc actuator noise. i contact honda of america who tells me to have the dealer take a look at it. again they cant replicate it. im now at 65k miles and out of my warranty range, sound is on every start after car has been off for at least half hour. its loud enough to scare pedestrians walking past when i start it in public places (very embarrassing). honda bulletin says "all" 2014 have a "defective" vtc actuator posted in a 2016 bulletin. why did they not replace mine when i made the complaint. seen reports of this causing wear to the timing chain and a few thousand dollars worth of repairs. needs to be a recall.

I have a customer that has a 2014 honda crv (vin provided) and 2 years ago we replaced the rear hatch outside handle. it would not open in cold weather. it failed again and we replaced it again (no charge to the customer as it was the same problem as before). honda only warranties their parts for 12 months. this is a know problem which is fixed with a new outside handle. it seems to me this is a safety concern as there in no way to get into the rear cargo area from the outside without this outside handle working. honda has refused any to help in any way.

My 204 honda crv has a continuing problem with the vtc actuator. i've had 2 defective ones, which damaged my timing chain. dealer says they are not liable for the damage done for the defective part, and i have to pay $1600 for a new timing chain at 70k miles. honda issued a technician bulletin stating the vtc is defective, but offered no fixes to the problem other than throwing another defective product in the vehicle. when starting the vehicle, the vtc actuator makes a loud grinding noise, which is the sound of the timing chain being stretched. my timing chain is now ruined and needs a new one. this has been happening since i've owned the car. the noise now occurs almost every morning.

2014 crv had 'rattle' noise during cold start about a year ago, took it to the honda dealer and they said there was nothing wrong. now at 59974 miles and 3 months passed 5 year warranty, the dash warning lights going off and timing chain has to be replaced. had to spent $2000 to fix it.

I am having problems with the heater on the passenger side as relates to honda tsb 14-0063. having hard time to defrost my windshield which create safety hazard with visibility and keeping the car warm. feeling the honda should issue the recall bulletin on this issue.

I just purchased a used 2014 honda cr-v and after driving away from the dealer, the driver's side heat and defrost system would only blow cold air. the passenger side heat and defrost works fine. this occurs when the vehicle has reached operating temperature, and occurs whether moving or stationary. it is dangerous to have compromised defrost ability. this is a problem that has been known to honda since 2014 (see service bulletin attached below).

My car "check engine" light came on and went to the dealership for service. i was told the car need an updated pgmfi. i was told a lot of crv's are incurring the same error indicators. but because my car is out of warranty i ended up paying for the pgmfi update. i do not agree, but paid the bill. this should be a recall.

My vehicle is suffering from an extremely common problem within the 4th generation crv - the vtc actuator is making a grinding noise during cold startups. there is a active bulletin regarding the issue, tsb 16-012 ver. 2. the issue is further compounded by the fact that it does not happen literally every single time i turn the car on. it only happens sometimes. the dealership told me to leave it with them overnight. then in the morning they will test it and try to duplicate the problem. if they can't duplicate it, then they won't fix it. this is frustrating.

I have searched online and see that many 2014 honda crv's have the heating issue described in tsb 14-063 (nhtsa id: 10120775 and 10118028). my 2014 crv suffers from the same issue. to be precise, the vent all the way to the left of the car (driver's side) does not blow hot air. all three vents to the right seem to blow fine.

While parking on the second level of a parking garage, the car suddenly lunged forward and jumped the stop and crashed into the wall of the garage. my foot was on the break but when i lifted it off, the engine revved up without my foot on the gas. this has done this before and i have reported it to honda but they did nothing to correct it.

The defroster blows only cold air on the driver's side. it is still warm/hot on the passenger side. i live in the northeast and when you can't see out the windshield to drive it becomes a serious problem. during the winter the car is basically undriveable unless you let the entire interior warm up for 20-30 minutes, not exactly the fuel fuel efficiency i was looking for in a honda vehicle

When turning on heat warm air only blows out of vents on passenger side of vehicle.took vehicle to honda store told us it was the heater core and that it needed flushing. price to to job was $375 and would take 3 and one half hours. discovered other customers are experiencing same problem. please encourage honda to fix problem more cost effective. thanks

Vehicle made grinding noise upon start-up over several months. honda claimed it is not damaging the engine and there is no fix. engine continued to grind and my car began having oil problems. honda still said there was no issue and they were not related. car continued grinding until this week when all lights on the dashboard lit up. i took my honda and was told the timing chain is stretched and it needs another vtc actuator replacement (this was fixed under warranty three years ago). the car could have stalled while driving. this is a known issue that honda is refusing to acknowledge or recall in honda cr-v's. they charged me $1800 to fix an issue known to them. this could have resulted in bodily injury to myself or others if the car had stalled while driving. honda should take responsibility for their faulty engines. there are multiple complaints on this same issue.

Bought the car from honda dealership in august of 2018. second i drove it off the lot vehicle started to have a vibration from the front end of the car. i brought it back 4 days later because of the vibration and burning smell when i pressed on the brakes. i had to get a new axel replaced on the car. after i had to return car again a week later for the exact same vibrations. yet since then the car still shakes, after bringing it to numerous mechanics the car still shakes. i just brought it back again to the dealership to see again why exactly it is still shaking. i had to get a new differentia for the rear of the vehicle, and that didn't work. i returned it again a week later for fluid and transmission fluid to see if that will work and still persists to shake.

My 2014 crv has excessive vibration when i am in drive but idling. it does not happen in park or neutral. only when in drive or reverse and stopped. it is excessive. my stealing wheel vibrates, cups...pens.. it comes through my seat and it kind of makes me sick. i have taken this to honda several times. i have had motor mounts and transmission mounts replaced. i have had a compressor replaced. none of this has stopped the excessive vibration. this issue only happens when the car has been running for at least 15 minutes. this has been going on for years, with no solution.

Rattle from engine every startup. louder and longer when cold. timing chain? this problem has been ongoing since cpo purchase. it’s getting louder and i’m afraid it will destroy my engine, before honda admits to a defective part and does a recall.

Vehicle when riding at a steady rising speed and it comes to 2 point on the milage as 30mph or 40mph the vehicle starts to shake continously untill gas pedal is let go or strongly pressed to accelerate. this action continues to happen every time the vehicle is being driven, as well as the vehicle when it shakes some times are more strong then other, it varies on the power of the shake.

Driving at low speed (20-40mph) the car will flutter/shimmy. this is a known issue with honda america as they have two service bulletins regarding the issue. there are multiple online forums with cr-v owners having the same exact problem with low and high mileage. the dealership performed the first "fix" according to the honda service bulletin and it was ok for about 2 weeks and now it's back, worse than ever. the second fix according to honda is a torque converter replacement, which may or may not help the problem.

The car vibrated during acceleration at 25 and 32mph. the honda of san marcos,tx dealer updated the software and that fixed the problem. since many 2014 honda crvs have this problem, this should be a recall. honda should reimburse me the $365.15 that they charged me to fix the transmission vibration.

I experienced sudden unintended acceleration of the engine twice over a 3 month period. after driving for approximate 140 milles i pulled into a parking area. after the car stopped the engine immediately reved up to over 3000 rpm. i immediately put the car in neutral and turned off the key. the second time this happened the conditions were similar with the engine reving up to approximately 5000 rpm. in both cases the engine reved up after car was stopped at the end of a long continuous drive. at the end of these events i looked down and verified that my foot was definitely on the brake. after the first event i had the vehicle checked by a reliable mechanic and nothing unusual was found.

When i start my 2014 honda crv in the morning in idle and until i hit over 15 mph it makes a rattle noise, but more of a knocking under the valve cover area. we have done the oil changes every time the on-board oil life reminder tells me. during the winter, i take it to honda during the summer my husband and i choose to change it. the noise has become considerably worse so we went online to review. all associations with the problem point to the vtc actuator and timing change. after calling to make an appt at the dealer and explain my problem i hear the cost to fix it referring to the service bulletin 16-102. it was well over $2000. the issue before i pay that to fix it is that all of the people i read in the online community state it is a temporary fix and the problem comes right back. some have had the vtc changed four times. that would cost me $8000, a beautiful chunk of change to put down on a new car. not a honda. just like the airbag issue with my 2004 honda crv, they had to replace the replacement until they got it right. i urge you to please notify honda of all our complaints (i uploaded a community forum) i can not afford to keep chasing down this defective part. my 2007 honda prelude has over 300k and is a daily driver with a niece. my 2014 and 2016 honda crv are happy every driver. snow beats if you may. i wanted a newer car with newer features, but what i got was an expensive defective honda. i paid $15000 two years ago, and it is now just under 100,000 miles. there used to be a saying, you could drive a honda to the point of the body falling off, but the engine would keep going. not only is my vtc a sore spot to fix. it is now using oil between oil changes due to a defective vtc. so i will change it once and if it continues. i will be back with another urge for justice.

Battery provided very slow starts and other electrical/electronic anomalies on a number of occasions within a month or so prior to testing and replacement on 01/24/17. vehicle (and the oem battery) had 22,119 miles at time of failure, and had been in service for appr. 17 months. no evidence of abuse. honda reimbursed for diagnosis & replacement at independent shop.

The a/c compressor pulley bearing seal is broken/busted and is grinding causing a burning smell. the idler pulley bearing seal is broken/busted and is squealing. all the routine maintenance is up to date. this automobile is only 3 years old and already having problems with the basic engine components. is this a rare case for this make and model or is it that honda is no longer considered to be a reliable automobile?

The heater-defroster does not work in the winter. the windshield starts to frost over on the drivers side making visibility very poor. this happens at any speed or driving situation. this vehicle has only 31,000 miles on it. after doing research, i found on the honda forum that this is a very common complaint with this year of cr-v. many complaints had less mileage than my cr-v. honda knows about the problem but will not recall this vehicle. not being able to see through the windshield while driving is a safety hazard!!!

My 2014 honda cr-v has no heat on the driver side. this has been an issue for over a year now. i am told it is not covered under warranty. the front defrost does not work on the driver side, which makes it unsafe to drive. warm air blows out of the passenger side and cold air blows out of the driver side. i’ve been told it is a clogged heater core caused by the fluid honda uses.

I had my tires rotated and car serviced on 6/21/19 and on 6/22/19 my tire pressure light came on after driving only 2 miles on the interstate. i pulled over and checked my tires and all were at 40lbs. i reset the tire pressure censure, and a few days later i was yet again driving on the highway and the light came on again. i check my pressure again and all were 40lbs. before my tires were rotated my light never came on, and now it comes on at least 2-3 times a week. not sure if it is the sensor that has gone bad or if there is something wrong with how the tires are rotating. my car has 34,500 miles on it. check tire light only comes on while driving straight; no pot holes were hit and the roads were not uneven.

Compass would not calibrate or work. initially, dealer thought it was a cell phone communication that was corrupting the compass operation! tests and removing cell phone connection to car proved it was not the source of problem. paid dealer for diagnostic but they did not repair or resolve problem. reported issue to honda corporation. eventually, we had to pay for a complete new compass system to be installed.

Tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) warning sensor/light is on when tire pressure is normal. tpms sensor is defective.

The crv starts to shake when slowly accelerating between 25 to 30 miles an hour goes away once it reaches above 30 mile/hour. this has been going on since the last 8 months.

Gridding noise for engine started at 14,000 miles and dealership said honda working on fix, then at 50,000 really rough idle and no power ,heavy vibration when accelerating . still no fix! 52,000 cr-v in shop again .

Bent car jack . my vehicle jack car bends. i injured my fingers it was a safety violation on the part of honda. shame on honda!

I noticed that the vehicle would skate between 25-30 mph when accelerating. i took it to the closest honda dealership to have it looked at, hoping it was covered under my warranty. i was told that i had to pay $140 for them to just check my vehicle. then they called me to tell me that it was caused by a software issue and honda had created an update, which i would have to pay to receive. that they would also have to flush my transmission fluid as part of this, and that the cost would be $499 with labor and taxes. i then also went ahead and had my oil changed and my brake fluid since it was recommended. total bill was $703. i then came home and started looking up and it appears that many other people have/had the same issue. most weren’t charged by their dealer for the update and fluid change, which seems to correct the issue. but i was. and i have the silver warranty under fidelity. and it affected my power train, but they co wider it a software issue, not mechanical, so they would not cover it. honda should not charge for this issue, which was clearly affecting enough people to cause them to have an update available. but why charge for it? it’s a malfunction in their software which affected the vehicles performance, and they should have done a recall and provided this for free.

Have driven a smooth 2002 crv since new. in 2018 bought 2014 crv - front end shimmies often. some time very violent - can feel shake onto gas pedal and steering wheel.seems too sensitive to any small (hard to see) bumps on road. took to pearson preowned (richmond, va) a major auto seller. they said nothing is wrong. have searched youtube and found some claims that the supports for the radiator can cause this while waiting at a stop light. my shaking does not occur at any stop lights. i describe the shaking - like a kid dribbling a basketball. and not 1-3 bounces, but a lot more (probably closer to 18). happens most often while starting to drive down a street, or when accelerating. scary - especially when in multiple lane traffic and surrounded by other autos. happens every time i have driven it since purchase in march, 2018. has passed inspection without any issues..

When starting the car in the morning there is a grinding noise. it is now getting worse. from the description search on the internet, this seems to be more common in the 2014 honda cr-v. the issue seems to be with the vtc actuator. i believe the part honda has used is defective. this has been an issue in earlier versions of the cr-v and accord.

The driver side heat vent blows out cold air in my 2014 honda crv. this is a known issue to honda and they have not done a recall. this cold air causes the windows to not defrost and, therefore, difficult to see in certain weather conditions. i have had the heater core flushed once and the issue came back within 15,000 miles. it is a recurring issue that should be recalled as it is unsafe driving with frosted windows due to no heat.

The driver's side air vent blows cold air out of the vents and towards the windshield. thus, i am unable to properly defrost my front windshield on my 2014 honda crv, causing a possible safety hazard. honda knows about this problem and has issued tsb #14-063 to fix this problem, but yet refuses to do any sort of recall. the tsb calls for a flush of the heater core with clr and then that should fix the problem until the heater core gets plugged again. to me this is a design/safety problem that needs to be addressed asap. this happens whenever the heat is on and the car is at operating temperatures.

In august 2018 i brought vehicle to privately owned shop that i trust to research a noise coming from the engine bay when starting the vehicle. mechanic found through inspection/research that timing chain likely needed to be replaced ($1000 job) on 2014 cr-v’s. at that time my vehicle was less than 5 years old with less than 60,000 miles, so it was within the power train warrantee period (5yrs/60kmi). the mechanic also found that the engine was leaking quite a bit of oil for such a new car and he said it had a consumption issue. i called honda in august 2018, and started a case regarding oil consumption and noise related to timing chain. they told me to bring vehicle to honda dealership to begin oil consumption test and to have noise looked at. i immediately brought the vehicle to lia honda who told me to wait until oil needed to be changed to start consumption test b/c the oil was recently changed and it would be a waste of new oil. i brought the car into keeler honda in november of 2018 to complete the oil consumption test when the oil needed to be changed and to have the noise checked out. they changed the oil and couldn’t figure out the noise, stating the car was fine. as i drove the car over the next few months the noise got worse. i brought the car to the dealership where i bought the car and they stated i should bring the car back to honda because it should’ve been under warrantee and something was definitely wrong. i called honda manufacturer and referenced my case from aug of 2018- they agreed to document that my car was covered b/c these issues stem from when it was under warrantee (now has 62kmi). keeler honda found a service bulletin to replace vtc actuator related to noise. this was replaced and covered by honda. the car still has oil consumption issue! 2015 cr-v’s were recalled due to oil consumption to replace the engine, but not 2014’s? same issue!!!!!

The heater core in my 2014 honda crv is not working properly. heat blows hot on passenger side, but cold on driver's side. mechanic says heater core clogged due to sand casting left in block when manufactured or antifreeze causing corrosion. this is a known honda problem and should be a recall. back flushing and chemically cleaning heater core did not resolve problem.

A d v e r t i s e m e n t s with on 34,022 miles, when the heat and fan/blower is on, cold air comes from the driver side vents while warm/hot air blows from the passenger side vents. research indicates a clog in the heater core. a technical service bulletin exists for the problem attached.this issue is a manufacturing defect from either: 1) sand left in the coolant passages after the casting of the engine block and or 2) honda's coolant containing sediment and or 3) honda's coolant causing wear to surfaces it comes in contact with. the windshield freezes up when trying to defrost it and a safety issue in winter. honda needs to cover this repair- please advise, thank you.

Chronic engine light from defective timing chain. noise (rattling) from timing chain area.the timing chain started making noise @ 80k. check engine light started to illuminate in early october with code p0341. cel illuminate on start up. after clearing code vehicle driving the rest of day without cel re illuminating to next morning. i took it to the shop (see attached) where the technician removed the timing cover exposing failed parts. after brief internet search i found numerous complaints of this same nature requiring timing chain and related parts having to be replaced on 2013 and 2014 honda cr-v mileage as 58,000 (see attached). attached is a statement from the master certified technician how preformed the repairs. i also have retained all parts replaced. when the cel light illuminate the tire pressure light,stability control light,and electric steering light also illuminated(see attached)

When thew heater is activated, the drivers side does not heat. this is a known issue per tsb# 14-063, atb 00239-01113 rev1 (1411). this complaint is all over the net and the dealer will not touch it...unless i pay a high price to repair a poorly engineered heater core.

Variable timing control (vtc) actuator failed as described in honda tsb 16-012. informed by honda dealer that failure would result in catastrophic engine failure if not repaired. honda refused to cover repair.

The sunroof shattered while driving on the tollway. this was preceded by a loud sound above my head. there was no evidence of object impact from the vehicles in front of me. i have a dash camera and showed no abnormal activity or objects flying towards the car. there was no damage anywhere else but the sunroof. luckily the shade was closed or i would've been showered with broken glass.

Driving slowly in heavy traffic on i-95 in phila car stalled and was restarted, but battery light stayed on. engine temperature indicator was normal. after 15 minutes of additional slow driving car started smoking under the hood. soon after pulling over to shoulder, flames started in the engine compartment and a short time later the entire car was engulfed in flames. 911 was called, police and fire truck came. car was totally destroyed. mileage was approx 32,000 and vehicle was well-maintained. philadelphia police (or possibly pa state police) report was filed: pa2018.545044. i uploaded two very graphic pictures - one showing entire vehicle engulfed in flames. if you did not receive, please contact me.

My 2014 honda crv with 75,000 miles is in need of a drive shaft. i cannot find a recall on this. honda is doing nothing about it. my mechanic was informed that there has been trouble with this part on other 2014 models.as a matter of fact the part was backordered! it seems absurd to me that this should happen in 75,000 miles. can you help me? as you know this will cost me between $2500.00-$3000.00!!! of course i will not purchase another honda vehicle since the customer does not seem to matter to that company]!

April 26, 2018 i bought my wife's honda 2014 cr-v new in october of 2014. we are both quite happy with the car, with one significant exception. the tpms does not work. in 2014 honda changed their tpms from the conventional system which uses pressure sensors in the wheels. instead, it compares the revolutions of the tires on the theory that a low tire will rotate faster than a normally inflated tire. this is a good idea in theory. however, in practice it does not work. the software must account for the fact that the tires do not rotate equally on turns. also, slight (and accceptable) differences in pressure or tire wear will result in errors that the software must deal with. honda issued tsb 14-006 in an attempt to remedy the problem, but if it has been applied to our car it has not worked. the tpms light on our cr-v is unreliable. it occasionally lights when the tires are ok, but has failed to indicate low or flat tires for us several times. my wife went to the dealer in prescott, az, this morning to ask whether tsb 14–006 has been applied to the car. the reply was that there is no recall and if the tpms light does not stay on, there is no need to do it. we can live with a non-functional tpms system. our previous cars worked well without it. our normal maintenance procedures require checking tire pressures periodically. for some reason this car does not pull to the side when a tire goes flat. a tpms should flag a tire failure when on the road. three times we have had a tire fail while driving, with no tpms indication. our loss has been only three tires; no accident resulted. in my opinion this is potentially a serious safety problem.

Takata recall i have noticed since i have bought my crv that my airbag light on the dashboard sporadically goes on and off, and i wondered if it had anything to do with the instability of the airbags.

Purchased the car in december 2014. tire pressure warning light kept coming on. shortly after, passenger airbag off light intermittently lit. a few days ago, side airbag off indicator came on and stayed on.

Crv was rattling for about a week. started only in the morning in the cold and progressively got worse. we were supposed to take the car in to the mechanic the next day but as my wife was driving on the highway the car completely shut off. we had it towed to the mechanic and he said it's engine failure and had no oil. we had no oil light come on and we get routine oil changes. called honda to see if there was a recall and they said no and offered no help. now i'm stuck with a worthless 5 yr old car that i still owe money on. there are so many complaints about this why hasn't a recall been issued? why is nobody investigating this????

Heater core keeps clogging causing only cold air to blow on driver side

I want to ask you to investigate a problem that has honda with the vtc actuator (variable temporal control) which lead to a rattle noise when start in cool weather and most of the mechanics know about it. the vehicle was stationary and present the fail when started in cold conditions. on their dealer own words: the vtc is worn out causing the rattle sound and chain is stretched. the tensioner crack seal needs to be changed. all of their answers make me think is a manufacturing problem because they knew about it and that honda should make a recall. the cost was thousand and six hundred dollars (1,600). they needed to open the engine and the noise didn't go away even after the repairs and the car is now accelerated a little too much. i really appreciate your time and your response either way is investigated or not. Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda cr-v. while driving at high speeds, the vehicle vibrated drastically. schomp honda (1003 plum valley ln, highlands ranch, co, 1-(303) 798-1500) diagnosed that the drive shaft/propeller and rear axle mount needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the vin and failure mileage were not available.

A known tsb shows that honda is aware that issues with the radiator/heater core is causing drivers side heat to be considerably less than the passenger side. this inadequate heat supply to the drivers side causes ice to easily accumulate and stick to the drivers side windshield in virtually any weather conditions below 20 degrees farenheit. this causes much concern for visibility and varying precipitation and temperatures can make visibility virtually impossible. honda needs to recognize their faulty components and recall these parts in order to improve defrosting abilities and make our roadways safer. this vehicle has had manaufacturers tsb performed on the heater core twice with issues still arising today only 20k miles in.

Corrosion from the radiator builds up in the heater core and causes the drivers side defrost to be insufficient. in weather below 25 degrees, ice easily forms on the windshield and the defrost can’t keep up because it isn’t warm enough. vehicle has had heater core flush multiple times. it’s time to realize that components are failed and need answers. the proper functioning of the defrost is essential in safe driving.

When the outside temperature is below freezing, the rear hatch will not open. the latch mechanism has been replaced under warranty, and the problem persists. many others have reported this problem, with multiple latch replacements having not solved it. it is a design defect. if one were in a collision and the doors were jammed, people could not be removed through the hatch. if one had a flat tire beside the road, the spare could not be accessed. if medication were needed, it could not be retrieved promptly. the date mentioned below is only one of the many times this has happened when we have visited cold weather areas. it happens every day when the temperature is below freezing.

When car reaches 60-70 mph, it shudders like it is trying to change gear. periodic.

Car shakes, jerks, and "judders" between 20 and 40mph under light acceleration. this was diagnosed by a honda dealership as being the issue addressed in honda technical service bulletin 15-086, but they will only fix it at their cost if you are still under warranty. fixing, according to honda requires replacing the torque converter, updating the pcm, and replacing the transmission fluid. that's a pretty expensive bill for it being their software issue in the first place. car also make a loud grinding noise on cold starts. was informed this was an issue with the vtc actuator, but there was no fix for it.

Did not deploy 2016 accident in motion street

The tire gauge light will not reset. i made sure the tires were inflated correctly. i took my vehicle to my mechanic for a normal brake repair. i asked him to rest the tire gauge. he advised me the gauge sensors are not working on any of the tires.

The compass indicator light will continuously flash the wrong direction. this can happen when starting the car as well as when the car is running either in motion or stationary. following the recalibration instructions in the manual (driving slowly in tight circles) will usually fix the problem temporarily. this fix may last a day or as little as 10 minutes.

It started about 1yr after getting this crv, upon cranking making a grinding noise i took to shop several times they did they couldn't find anything wrong, now here lately i've had to boost of my crv several times, do i took to shop to check battery which is fine, i don't have time nor money to keep going to shop to not have anything done. i desperatly am afraid to go anywhere other than work in fear it wont crank. it acts like it wanrs to turn over but doesn't then sometimes it cranks right up. i feel as though this is a lemon & honda should have to do something for the ones that are going through this crap. i thought honda was a reliable vehicle. i traded in nissian for this ughh

I purchased my used certified 2014 honda cr-v ex-l 11/2016 and the car seemed to running smooth and very quite. i took it in for the first service call the car didn't run the same, i even when back a few days after the car was serviced. since the if i make a sudden stop the car stops and i finally hear the transmission catching up and this cause the car to jerk back in the sitting position. if i am going about to go through my drive thru mini market and i have to wait on another car and then proceed the transmission acts as if it doesn't want to move and it finally jumps into gear which allows the car to move forward. this is my 5th purchase with honda, 1988 hatch back civic, 1990 honda accord, honda civic, 2003 honda element and now 2014 honda cr-v ex-l. in the last two weeks i have found if i am sitting and hit the gas the car excels really fast and it scares me. i have read a few reviews about the same issues with how the car excels really fast.

Driving on the freeway during a snow storm the heater was blowing cold air on the drivers side. the windshield iced over and i could not see.

A couple of weeks ago, on february 16th or 17th i struggled to put my seatbelt on. this was the first i had seen of any issues with my seatbelt. as i investigated for that i could see that both the seatbelts in the back had been affected and so had the passenger seat belt. i booked an appointment with honda dealership scott robinson in torrance and was met by a very hostile member of stuff who took a look around my car (no testing or investigations) and then quoted $1387 for parts and $800 for labor. the employee proceeded, without having done any investigations, that either my son (referring to autistic behaviors) or the dog damaged my seatbelts. i told him not to equate autism with vandalism, my son is autistic but he is not a savage also i challenge any human to chew through seatbelts. the employee then proceeded to claim he knew all about autism and could criticize as he pleased. i understand scott robinson are a private dealership but i will say the behavior of their staff is appalling. i decided it would be best i take my car and leave as i felt that the lack of investigation and ignoring the fact that there is a warranty on the seatbelts topped with insulting my disabled son was enough for me to be there anymore. i hope honda will help me with this and investigate the belt feed as it seems that the issue is internal rather than external. something inside the belt feed is catching or grazing that is has worn the belt down into fraying.

The original battery of my honda crv keeps dying. local honda dealer did not cover the replacement and i have to pay $200 out of my pocket to replace. its been only 3 years since i purchased the car and the battery is already draining out. i have been stranded in unsafe places as a result, waiting for roadside assistance to come jumpstart the car. when i took it to the local honda dealer (dublin honda), they said the battery is faulty and its not covered under warranty and i have to pay out of pocket to replace it. i ended up paying $200 for replacement of battery and all the inconvenience of getting stranded at unsafe, unsecure places with my family in the car.

Drvers side floor vents and frt vents and defoger blowes cool air passengerside vents all blow hot air. ac operates ok heat in winter is problem. there is a tech bul. out for repair due to heater core cloging up. honda will not honor warrenty and is for 2012 -2014 honda crv's tech bul 14-063. they will not pay for the flush $400. car has 30,000miles and is 4yrs old. they say it is not a safety issue, i cannot belive defrosting drivers side window is not a safety issue!!!! i even have 100,000mile ext honda care warrenty which i payed $2000 for.

Hatch switch/handle does not work when the weather becomes colder. i have seen this issue in many forums and it affects even current models. when it warms up outside then it works again. this sure seems like a design defect which honda should address via a tb and recall to fix.

When heater is on, cold air comes out of drivers side vents and hot air out of the passenger side vents. it sounds like a problem with the heater core.

Car hesitates and then may surge on acceleration, especially from full stop, rolling stop, or low speed, as in highway merging. i suspect the transmission. it is intermittent, at least several times/week from 2017-2018.

Engine sputters when going into 2nd gear.

Battery dies randomly and car will not start without a jump. dealerships could not find problem with battery or car. after a year or so of this honda replaced battery. it’s happening again within about a year. stopped on the shoulder of busy hwy...no way to escape! there are too many people with the same issue. this needs to be adressed.

On cold start, the engine grinds for about 2 seconds. i bought the vehicle new and this has happened periodically since. dealer service shop usually cannot replicate it because it only happens on cold start after sitting overnight. finally got them to replicate the noise in january 2016 and diagnosed as a vtc actuator problem. apparently a very well known problem and "they fix these all the time, known issue". a week later the noise started again and now the dealer can't replicate again. i only have 10 months left on my warranty and they say they won't replace it again because they can't replicate it. if it's a known issue, this needs to be recalled and fixed again asap. worried about the longevity of the engine, given this has been going on since day one.

2014 honda cr-v, lx do not have floor vent working on passenger side. this was just noticed in a very cold weather and had to have elderly passenger to transport. so far there was no other rider in this vehicle because we had the other vehicle for such use. the driver side floor vent was blowing burning hot air, while it is freezing cold on passenger side floor area.

As the temperatures drop, my car makes a horrible grinding noise as though something is seizing in the engine whenever i start the car when the engine is cold. the noise only lasts a few seconds, after which the car runs perfectly fine. the problem tends to occur whenever i start the car after it has been sitting unused for hours in cold weather. this appears to be a common issue with hondas and should be addressed by the manufacturer.

My 2014 cr-v ex-l began to give me starting problems since late 2016. it occurs randomly, and can occur either in morning or daytime. the first time it occurred and i took it to honda dealership they blamed it on some charging software issue and said they fixed it by installing a software update. it worked fine for a few weeks after but the problem reoccurred later. it can happen in summer or winter, and totally randomly. honda dealer service assured me multiple times they can't find any problem with battery or electrical system. at this point i am totally at loss about what to do. i can get a new battery, but what am i going to do if the same problem occurs again. i can never predict when or how it will show up. it can start without any problems even on a really cold day, or it would not start after i make a 20 minute stop at the grocery store. never expected this when i bought a honda.

The front windshield wiper drags water across the windshield on the drivers side during the return swipe from the side of the windshield back to center, obstructing my view when driving. the harder it rains, the worse the obstruction is. i've taken video with my phone and given it to the dealer. they changed out the wiper blade in case that was the problem, but it continues. it is very bad during heavier rains and when driving at faster speeds. it seems to be worse at driving speeds over 40 miles per hour. it happens going straight and on turns. it started when the car was brand new, but i just learned about this site while following up on a recall notice i recently received in the mail.

Vtc actuator grinds on start up ..recurring on first start up... i see dozens of people complaining about this why not a recall

Vehicle shakes while in motion when automatic transmission shifts between 25mph-45mph using over-drive. this does not happen when over-drive is turned off. transmission computer has been updated but this did not correct the problem as hoped by honda dealership. the problem is on-going.

The trunk latch sticks and causes you to be unable to open your trunk. over the past couple months the latch started to stick which i chalked up to the cold weather causing it to stick but now it doesn't open at all.

I was driving 45 miles a hour down a street . i hit my brakes and they did not work and my seatbelt locked and i hit a car head on . i hit his driver doors front and back. my airbag did not deploy

Engine makes a grinding sound upon start up on cold mornings for a few seconds while parked. this has been a problem since i purchased car. have taken to dealer numerous times, but they cannot tell me what the problem is. numerous complaints from owners about the vtc actuator, but this was never mentioned to me. concerned this will lead to problems if not addressed.

Upon starting car in the morning, car is stationary, with temperatures below freezing, the engine makes a grinding noise, if only for a few seconds.

Car had brief noise at cold start up x5 this led to dashboard lights investigating the information through other complaints. took into honda the vtc actuator and timing chain had failed this was repaired at honda - no recall notice to me - found several public notices and bulletins to support the issue

My wife was driving to work at 65 mph on the highway, 8 pm, temperature approx. 75f in milpitas, ca. the sun roof was completely closed and the inside sliding cover was closed(thank goodness) when it suddenly shattered.she did not see any object impact it. no overpasses, light traffic. on closer inspection the next morning, i observed the remaining large pieces were flared outward, as if it had exploded.( please find photos) i have since become aware that these types of failures are becoming much more frequent.(repair receipt also attached)

Loud grinding sound when starting the car in the garage. this has happened in the past on cold days but temperature today was in the 50s. i am concerned about damage from this as the days here in wisconsin are only going to get colder. i am keeping a running list of occurrences and documenting dates and temperatures.

Shattered glass sunroof , occurred while driving. shade guard prevented glass from entering car. no foreign object found that could have caused the sunroof to shatter.

I was pulling into my parking space at work at about 5 miles an hour. i applied the brake and suddenly accelerated at a high rate of speed into the brick wall of the building about 10 feet away. front end damage to the car and damage to the building. this is the 2nd time i have had sudden acceleration. the first time i was preparing to pull into a parking space but i was further away from the building. i stomped on the brakes repeatedly and was able to stop just before hitting anything.

Mileage 20630. had just returned home and parked in the driveway. sudden strong odor of raw gasoline and vehicle quit running. i found a large pool of gas just ahead of the left rear wheel. i moved the left rear seat to expose the fuel pump housing and found a pool of gas around the top of the gas tank at the fuel pump. i found a hole had worn through the hard plastic fuel line about 6 inches from the pump caused by rubbing on the underside of the rear seat metal frame. i repaired the holed area of the fuel line with the proper hard plastic fuel line repair kit.

Tire pressure warning light comes on when pressure is fine and/or comes back on after recalibration and correct pressure in tires in confirmed. has done this for 3 years, intermittently. honda won't deal with the problem because they can't replicate it.

Car has a loud rattle or grinding sound on a cold startup. last a couple of seconds then goes away. has done this for 3 years, since i got it.

Air is getting into the passenger side probably through defective window seal. may be door glass separation from regulator. has been this way for three years. honda won't deal with it.

Car hesitates and then may surge on acceleration, especially from full stop, rolling stop, or low speed, as in highway merging. i suspect the transmission. it is intermittent, at least several times/week from 2014-2017. honda won't address it because they say they can't replicate it.

Within the last 5 to 6 months, my vehicle keeps cutting off. i would need to get someone to jump me. the battery was checked and the starter and alternator. a new stater was put in on last friday and sunday it did the exact same thing. i needed a jump but it would only jump after sitting for an hour or so. my vehicle is now in the shop again due to the same issues. i'm a widow and i dont know much about cars but i know this problem shouldn't be happening so frequently.

Shudder or vibration while driving vehicle at 20-40mph speed.

Tire pressure indicator light : the tire indicator light remains on weather the vehicle is stopped or moving. this has been reset using the manual, by a tire center and also by a honda dealer. after the honda service the light remained off for i day. this seems to be a common issue with the vehicle but i was not notified and there is not a recall. i have been told to ignore it ...really that is the answer!

Takata recall: i contacted several dealerships in san marcos and san antonio in march 2016. i was told then, there were no parts available to fix the recall and no loaner cars available for those effected. we were told parts would be available early summer. now we receive a letter that says parts will not be available until the fall. i am a working mother of two with no other vehicles to drive. so my children and i are forced to drive around in this death trap, with no end in sight. the anxiety is causes us is great and we have limited our travels this summer, due to fears of something happening. this is not right!!! we need a loaner vehicle, so that my family can be safe until parts are made available.

We bought the car in august 2014. within 2 months of purchasing the vehicle, the light indicating that the tires needed air turned on. we had the wheels inflated and the light still remained on. we took it to the dealer and they did something to make the light indicating the tires needed to be inflated turn off. in about two months after that, the light turned on again. the vehicle was stationary and when we turned on the ignition, it happened again. this time we have ignored it. since we do not have time to be taking it into the dealer, it remains on whenever we drive the vehicle. it is annoying and can be dangerous.

Tpns light is on permanently even though tires are inflated correctly no way of knowing when tyres need inflating light on will not allow emissions test to be completed in ma unless its fixed passenger air bag stays on for long periods of time also it makes a noise when started in the morning or when idle for a couple of hours air conditioner is not working right.

In motion and stationary the tire inflation light remains on unless reset. tire pressure on all tires is the same. this happened once two weeks ago. dealership told me it was probably due to temperature change.

Takata recall. tire indicator light came on at 9:25 am. none of the tires were under inflated. after checking the tires i reset the device. this is the second time this is happened and it occurred a few days after the vehicle was serviced including rotating the tires. i was on the interstate driving 70 mph on a cloudy day with temperature at 73°

Since we purchased this vehicle (new) it makes periodic electrical shorting noises when starting the vehicle (turning the ignition key). there is obviously an electrical problem with the ignition switch. it doesn't happen every time the vehicle is started, but many times. our family is afraid the vehicle is eventually going to shock our hands - the vehicle now has about 15k miles on it but it has happened since the vehicle came from the dealership.

Vehicle has been designated by dealer to replace defective takata air bags but they are unable to provide any estimate as to when replacement air bags will become avaliable. do you have any experience as to typical wait times for such replacement?

Intermittent clicking sound emits under either front passenger seat or under center front armrest while driving. the clicking sounds duration is about 2-3 seconds with intermission of several seconds. the sounds repeat after checking proper seat's engagement and emptying center armrest compartment of any objects.

Starter sticks and doesn't disengage for a few seconds after engine turns and starts. as a result, starter solenoid gear grinds against flywheel teeth, causing damages to the teeth of solenoid and/or flywheel. this mechanical fault occurs every time after a vehicle is parked for a day or more. weather (cold or hot) doesn't affect the defect.

Vehicle jerks at gear change while driving. automatic transmission.

Brakes don't disengage normally : after releasing brake pedal, the car is still brakes for several seconds and, therefore, slowing down.

Rear brake pads and rotors are worn completely with rotors showing deep grooves. front brakes, on the contrary, appear to be almost new - thick pads and smooth rotors. the car's mileage is 17,412

My cr-v is 18 months old and since last dec. has the grinding sound when first started. the tire pressure signal lights up on occasion but when tire pressure is checked no tire is low. took car to dealer and they said it could be fixed while under warranty. hope so, but after seeing other complaints not so sure. bought this car based on friends recommendations and honda's reputation. wish i had known about this website prior to purchase!

Is my car being recalled for airbags?

On a florida hwy at about 60 mph a small truck traveling on lane to right of me for no obvious reason entered my lane. by instinct i yanked the steering to the left only to realize immediately that a vehicle at that moment was passing me on the left. at that moment the small truck on my right realized that he was entering my lane.and returned to his lane. at that point i had made a quick maneuver to the left and then to the right then lost control of my vehicle as it moved in an uncontrolled manner a few times to both sides.i regained control only after pressing hard on the brake pedal. a miracle that i did not hit any one.i am a retired long distance bus driver.(over 50 years) with an enviable record of no accidents..

The vehicle experienced a significant fuel line leak. after having it towed to dealer they advised an animal had chewed through the fuel line. they see this issue repeatedly. honda has coated the fuel lines with a soy-based insulator that attracts animals. this is a safety problem.

Bought 2014 honda crv the engine start making the grinding noise on start up in cold weather. brought it into the dealer and they said that it is know issue and honda is working on it. funny thing is i know other people who own the same model of crvs and they have no engine grind on start up. this is common in 2012-12014 and they have not had any issues. from what i read it sounds like honda has been working on this issue since the 2012 model, and it's now 2016. ii'm pretty sure i will trade in my crv for a something else than a honda.

My brand new honda crv 2014 have problems with suspensions. my concerns are my suspension are not reliable and could caused injury or deaths 4 pictures are included in my report.

This car only has one adjustment for both the high and low headlights. currently the low beams are adequate when using factory setting. when high beams are selected, the near vision of the road is lost and the high beams shine too high. if adjustment is made to lower the high beam so that it provides distance vision and road vision then it lowers the low beam vision of the road to a few feet in front of the car. both conditions are a safety issue for me. only an unacceptable compromise of the height adjustment must be made to have some use of both high and low beams. i took the car back to the dealer and they said the lights were within specs after shinning the lights on to the garage door with it closed. not very scientific method for adjusting the light settings and leaves a lot of room for error. my only choice is to drive with both settings being a compromise. all the cars i have owned for the past 55 years have had adjustments for both. i can only assume honda felt it an acceptable safety risk and money saver for them for drivers to only have one adjustment for the headlights. i am attaching the service report from todays visit to my dealer.

Grinding noise lasting a few seconds during ignition start up after car has been sitting overnight. began when car was 6 months old. happens almost daily when temps are below 60

Have a problem with the grinding noise when started sometimes. also have a problem with the driver's side window rubbing at times when it is raised or lowered. wish the hood release was better located and marked.

Driving clear weather, very good street condition, going 50 miles per hour pulled to almost a full stop for a light signal and then heard a loud popping noise. moved forward and felt tire was flat. pilled over and observed the side of the tire blew out. 2014, honda crv purchased brand new. miles on the vehicles 13,485. no wear on all tires visible. tire just blew up and appears like a defect since there was no tire damage. tire pressure was at proper psi.

My car was on a freeway going approximately 55 mph driving in economy mode. i was on my bluetooth and i had not changed lanes. sometime during this 2 minute phone call i had accelerated as i had traffic entering from my right and felt the car shift into a higher gear. i ended my phone call abruptly as my car was acting up and not running smoothly. it may have been hesitating. i realized my car just kept accelerating and out of my control. i put my foot on the brake and it would slow the car, but it didn't slow the engine motor. i would alternate putting my foot on the break and tapping the accelerator and back to brake pedal again. there was no give on the accelerator--like it was stuck to the floor. after about 3 or 4 of these attempts to gain control, i had control of the accelerator again and exited at the next exit. when the car was still moving and i was off the freeway, i reached down to make sure my floor mat was in place and it was. i then drove it to the nearest honda dealer and left it there. since it is the weekend they won't be looking at it until next week.

Others have reported this. on starting when cold, a slight grinding noise from the engine. when will honda either fix or compensate owners?

The drivers mic audio is so poor the caller to the car cannot understand the driver. the vehicle has to be moving 40mph+ to hear the audio breaking up. this is a safety issue, as the vehicle was purchased with the bluetooth a major factor.

My elderly mother died in a fire in her 2014 honda cr-v. there were no witnesses to the origin of the fire. the car was first seen when fully engulfed by flame, 10 to 20 minutes after my mother was seen getting into her car. unknown if she let it idle before driving. she drove about 1200 feet. her car was found in wet ivy at the side of the road. her key was in her hand, and she was leaning towards the passenger side of the car, apparently trying to escape the fire. (because the car was on a hill, leaning towards the passenger side, flames from beneath the car were strongest on the driver side and would have blocked her exit. the passenger side was not completely burned.) it is improbable that the ivy ignited because it was late fall in the pacific northwest and the weather had been very wet for days. i believe that a fire ignited somewhere in the vehicle and this fire caused my mother to go off the road. an autopsy showed she died of smoke inhalation and burns. the car was in good condition with recent servicing. no signs of recent oil leakage in garage. we have located other 2012-2014 cr-v fires that began spontaneously. some blamed on leaves trapped in vehicle, another on fluid leaks, including two on safercar.gov. I bought my crv in oct 2013. for the second winter the continues to be a loud grinding noise on first start of the day. it must be in the 20s or lower for the noise. this winter i had the dealer verify the problem. said it's the vtc actuator and honda is working on it. dealer agrees it is a defeat, but honda has no fix in place. apparently replacing the vtc actuator will not fix the problem. honda has been aware of the problem for at least 2 years now. still no word. i thinking honda is just moving on and ignoring this problem.

Cold weather engine starts with rattle sound vtc actuator issue.

After stopped at a stop light when it turns green had no acceleration until pressing the gas pedal up and down twice. this has happen numerous times since then. it seems the engine stays at idle. also have issues with the tps light going on for no reason and now a growling sound when the engine is cold and it is cold outside below 20 degrees when starting the vehicle. manufacture not notified. these are issues that have been reported from other cr-v owners numerous times a recall should be issued get a before someone losses there life or causes other to loose theirs.

I bought my car brand new at the end of 2013. on old morning and sporadically and cool mornings in the spring and fall there is a loud grinding sound under the hood. it looks like many people have this issue. i have taken it in 3 times now to a honda dealer and every single time they are they can't replicate the issue and do not hear it themselves. they are unable to fix or repair it yet it seems to be such a common problem.

I have a 2014 honda crv with 19k miles on it. i had the tires rotated and balanced 9-14-14 at 5586 miles and 7-27-2015 at 14461 miles at the dealer in rockwall, tx. i had the tires rotated and balanced at discount tires on 1-13-2016 and the service man informed me that at 18746 miles that the tires were half gone! the car came with continental cross contact lx 225/65r17 tires 60k tires. i would have expected much more from honda. i questioned the salesman at the time about the tires and he assured me these were good tires. i do not consisted this good. why would honda put such poor preforming tires on there cars?

With cold starts (starting the engine first thing in the morning) there is a grinding rumble from under the front of the car that lasts a second or two. this has been happening since i bought the car, and the service dept has said not to worry about it. yesterday, i took the car in to have it examined and repaired, and the honda service manager confirmed that the noise was coming from a defective vtc actuator. he went on to say that honda is continuing to produce the same defective actuator they have produced for the past 8 years and that the honda corporation will not allow dealer service departments to replace them. "they're all faulty, so it wouldn't matter." this defect in a critical engine part must be addressed and the part replaced.

After 12000 miles noticed minor pulsating when braking. problem got persistently worse where almost lost control of the car going down hill at 65 mph. took in to dealer who performed an inspection. they reported front brake rotorwarping due to normal wear and tear. all brake pads showweed minimal wear. i stated to the dealer that i felt this was not normal. they told me to change my driving habits. after much discussion they decided to cover a portion of the cost but stated next time it would be my responsibility. this should not occur so early on.

When on a curvy road the car sometimes makes loud noises thumping noises and the pansanger floor vibrates violently like the car is going to fall a part. car is only 13 months old and i bought it brand new. it has 45k miles now but problem started at 30k miles. the dealer could not replicate the problem and denied that their was a problem.

Car is only 13 months old and had a dead battery twice when nothing was left on. this is unacceptable because i spent $30,000 on this car and my loan is for 4 more years. honda dealership says battery and charging system is fine. not what i was expecting from honda, car is not reliable at all. i'm scared to take it far because i will get stranded. this needs to be fixed.

While slowing down to make a left turn, i removed my foot from the gas and then my foot when back on the gas, but there was no power. i took my foot off the gas and then back on to recover. this has happened a number of times and have come close to two accidents from oncoming cars. the answer i get from my dealer is that they have no record of this problem, and suggested turning the traction control off. i did this but still have experience the same problem. this is very dangerous and must be corrected in a recall. i also, like a number of other honda owners, experience the tire pressure light coming on. dealer says no fix for this.

Engine has a cold start rattle, honda says it is the vtc actuator. honda has changed it once and it still makes the noise. honda says that are working on a fix, but it looks like they have working on it since 2012.

Tpms tpms system would come on when i drove for more than an hour. but only when i drove for over an hour on the highway. when i checked the tire pressure there would be nothing wrong. finally i asked a mechanic and he recalibrated/rebooted the system and it has not come on since. engine grinding when i start the car up after it being in the cold overnight there is an initial grinding sound.

I have a 2014 honda crv with 21,751 miles. i always have had service by honda regularly and never had any problems. i was not due for service for another month when i had a flat tire due to a nail. i went to get the tire fixed when i was told by the tire dealer that all 4 tires were dry rotted. i was skeptical because the car was just 2 years old on oct. 30, 2015. i took it to a friend who is a mechanic and asked him about "plugging" my tire just to see if he would say anything about the tires being dry rotted. he took the tire off and kept examining it, then started looking at the other tires then he said all four tires have dry rot. he suggested 4 new tires and he does not sell tires. i called the honda dealer but he did not get back to me until later that day. i called continental and was directed to one of their dealers. i was told it was not a big deal and they would only pro rate the tires not replace them for free. i told continental why would i want the same tires on my car again? that's like letting the dog bite you in the butt!. needless to say i ended up buying 4 new tires (different brand) at the cost of $520.86. vin # [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tire pressure light comes on when the pressure is at recommended setting. doesn't matter where i'm driving. have brought this in to the dealer three times. they always check for me and tell me i'm fine, and to just reset the light. i would love if they could provide a fix for this problem, there may come a time that i need to know that the tire is underinflated.

The design is detrimental to a short person's (62 inch & under) safety. the starring does not go down far enough for the driver to see the road. also the driver seat is tilted away from starring wheel. the headlight beam ends before the driver can see the road. i complained but they did not take any action to even check. if the starring wheel can be pushed further down and the length of the headlight beam could be extended further the driver would not see a dark road ahead of him/her. it is a crash waiting to happen. please review this . i will be glad to answer any questions. honda, as usual, does not admit and fix the safety issues brought to them.

I was driving from vegas today 10/3 afternoon to los angeles. i was on cruise for a couple of hours at least. kept it around 70-71 based on the speed limit. there was one point when the vehicle increased the speed automatically to 80-82 in cruise. i was not increasing the value nor my leg was on the accelerator. it was surprising and scary. luckily the roads were free. else this would have been a rear end or some other thing. i had to step on brake to remove the vehicle from cruise. i am a fan of honda and had an accord 2006- 2008 and then a crv 2008 till 2014 and finally a 2014 crv. other old ones did not have such a problem. this one scared me out of my skin.

Has the tendency to stall when in motion ,rpm drops to zero and with no power, was being driven on city street in sunny and good weather and temperature in the 60's second time this has happened, dealer said it was because of foot on brake pedal, per honda tec, and that the brake was over riding by the gas causing the engine to stall was not using brake pedal at all.

My 1 year-old honda cr-v has 17,000 miles on it because i do a lot of driving for my business. in that time, the tire warning light has come on at least 4 times. the first time was as winter was setting in, and i took it to the dealer, where we both assumed it was just the cold weather causing the tires to lose a little pressure, so they put a little air in and reset the button. the other three times, it has been quite warm, so cold weather is not the issue. each time, i have not been anywhere i could take it to the dealer, but i have taken it to my mechanic twice and stopped at a ford dealer i was passing when it happened over the weekend of july 4th. each time, nobody could find any problem, and we just reset the button. it doesn't make me comfortable to see that a number of people have had the same problem. it also doesn't make me comfortable that the warning light is meant to let me know when there is a problem. how will i know that i can count on it working properly if there really is a problem?!

Bought this new honda cr-v with 3,000 some odd miles already on it, so practically new. the tire pressure light continually comes on and every time we take it in to the dealership where we purchases it.to check it out the attendant can't find a puncture and can't figure out why the pressure is leaving.so they just reset it. until recently when i took it into firestone and they really examined the car only to have me walk over and see that there are ripples (some pretty large ripples) in varies places of the tire. he also push with his fingers the tires inward to show how easily these tires made the ripples. i was completely shock. he said these tires could pop at any time. i can't believe i just purchased a car that needs a complete set of new tires. funny thing is one of the tires actually did get flat maybe 5 months and i replaced that tire with another continental tire (because i was told if you get new tires you need to get at least 2 of the same) not wanting to buy 2 new tires i opted just to get 1 of the same brand. the attendant from firestone couldn't even tell which tire (5 months old) was new. ridiculous and seriously unsafe are these tires.

My crv is 16 months old; i parked in my new garage and on the next day i start the car and fuel is pouring out of the tank or fuel system or fuel pump. i shut down the car due to the pollution it could have casued. i called the dealer on monday and had it towed. they tell me that a critter must have chewed through the line. how could this be. this is just another scam by honda to cover all the recall costs they are having to deal with. my gas tank could have exploded because if was steaming on the undercarriage. my car has only 34,000 miles and this is them trying to get out of a $1,000 plus charge to me. please help me; i have called honda but no one is returning my calls and does not seem to care. this is a very dangerous and serious problem.

Since my car was new i have been having trouble with the tpms warning light coming on for no reason. it indicates low tire pressure in one of my tires. it is providing a false indication of tire trouble that simply doesn't exist. i have had the car to the dealer 3 times. they cannot fix the problem. i have researched the issue on honda forums and found many other people are having the same problem with their 2014 honda cr-v's.

After being in the off mode, the ignition battery power does not start engine with out a powerful battery boost. this has happened1t least 13 times with no warning sign. vehicle has been taken to two dealerships and they declared nothing has been. honda of ca said that they investigated and declared that no issue had been found. i have purchased a high power booster as an intermediary fix.

I entered a parking lot to take my grandgirls to a wildlife refuge exhibit. drove down driveway, turned left off of driveway to park car facing west which would be facing another car facing east. turn was immediate, so brakes were applied. car did not slow down or stop . . . rather, it accelerated with a lurch! i was laying on the brakes; they did not engage until frontal contact pushed facing car out of my way, and i was able to throw car into park. no action when engaging emergency brakes. of course, documented as an "at-fault" accident by my insurance company. Happened a few weeks after vehicle purchase, tire pressure warning light would come on all of a sudden. i reset it per the owners manual and would happen a few more times and have been fine until the most recent basic service at honda of serramonte. light came on again and i reset it, so far it's been fine. happened early this year, a grinding noise could be heard almost every morning while starting the car. does not happen later on in the day. took vehicle to honda of serramonte and left vehicle there so they could test it in the morning. next day in the afternoon i went to pick up my vehicle, service rep wai wong who assisted me said technician did not hear the sound. she told me there are a few cases of this problem so far. i asked her for a service report for my records, she said it is not required because no work was performed on my vehicle. so i asked if the grinding noise would damage the engine, she promised very confidently that she is positive the engine would not be damaged by the grinding noise. it has still been making this grinding noise from time to time in the mornings only. also, with a passenger sitting in the front passenger seat, the airbag off light would turn on from time to time. i've checked online for any recalls related to the above three issues i am having with my vehicle, but so far none to date.

When changing from park to drive as soon as the vehicle rolls forward a few feet it clunks then lurches as if the transmission finally kicked in.

There is a grinding noise/sound at cold start. vehicle is garaged but during the colder weather months, the starter has a terrible grinding sound. this occurred with only about 1200 miles put on the car. it was purchased new in mid-december, 2013 (2014 model) and the grinding sound first occurred in late february, 2014. waited a few more months and then contacted local honda dealership to bring in the car to have them duplicate the problem. this was done on january 9th, 2015. dealership said they were aware of some other 2014 crv's having same/similar problem as mine. they further stated that the problem is a vtc-actuator and that honda had been aware of it for some time. i was told that honda has to re-engineer the part and that it hopefully be ready by the summer of 2015. still no word from the dealership on the status of the re-engineered part being available at this time. i will follow up with them today.

The air tire pressure light kept coming on for the first few months. i canceled out per instructions of dealer after i went to them the first three times - they checked pressure and found it to be as it should be. also, low beams on head lights are not very bright. hi beams are ok. while driving in the country in the dark, the low beams seem to only show area directly in front of the vehicle. to use high beams would be distracting and dangerous for oncoming traffic. previously had odyssey that got 22 mpg in town. it had a 6 cylinder engine. i thought that the 4 cylinder cr-v would do better than that, but does not do better in town. most of my driving is in town driving. cost of doing regular maintenance on the vehicle is high at my honda dealership. vehicle inspections as part of regular maintenance are very high. i have less than 15,000 miles on the vehicle and $75 over and above the price for the oil change seemed pretty steep to me. the vehicle is just the right size for my needs and i like sitting higher in the cr-v as opposed in a sedan that sits lower.

I will always read this sight before buying another car. i have had crv 2014 18 months and began problems after 2 weeks. tpms light keeps coming on every few weeks. low beam lights are bad and high beams are ridiculously too far ahead and can't see right in front of you. the head rest leans so far forward its uncomfortable and awkward. my engine makes a terrible grinding sound when starting the car. after reading all the other complaints, i consider myself fortunate i haven't had acceleration upon applying the brakes or no throttle when trying to accelerate. i will be cautious of those problems now since i've had so many of the others listed here.

This is the most uncomfortable car i have ever driven. the front seat cannot be adjusted to my comfort....it does not stay up...i need to sit high and it is impossble to make it stay up because of where the lever to adjust it is. i really do not like the car at all, but the most annoying thing is not being able to see over the steering wheel. i have have been back to my dealership and they just blew it off...not thier problem...i would think there should be something that could be done. it is rough riding which i think is because of the tires on the car which i cannot afford to replace...i have 16,000 unhappy miles on the car. the car was puchaed new in 2013...it is a 2014.

Tpms warning light appeared on dashboard. stopped at honda dealership. tires were at correct pressure. we were shown where the button was on the dashboard to clear the tpms warning light. this has happened at least twice since the first incident. it was brought to the dealership the next time and we were told the tire pressure on all 4 tires was fine and they canceled the warning light on the dashboard. all of this at no cost to us. the third time it happened i canceled the warning light. the issue must be a engineering or design failure/problem otherwise why would they have a button on the dashboard so the driver could cancel the warning light? we feel we can't trust the warning light anymore and quite frankly wonder how safe the tires and vehicle is to drive.

The cars a/c condenser was hit by a pebble on the road and it damaged one of the veins. needs to replace with a new one.

Vehicle becomes unresponsive to star up procedure w/o prior indication or warning. has happened approx., on 12 instances. have called for road called & taken it to dealership without final resolution. contacted honda of carson ca. final resolve after two months was to have vehicle towed to dealer for appraisal of situation.

While attempting to stop at a red traffic light, we applied pressure to the brakes. however, the brakes did not respond and it appeared that the car accelerated. to avoid hitting the car in front of us, we turned towards the shoulder and up a small hill. we hit a tree on the small hill that caused the car to flip upside down. police and ems responded to the site of the accident to remove us from the car and evaluate/treat us for injuries.

The headrest in the vehicle is angled too far forward at the top to be comfortable for people who have to sit straight up in the seat! the angle on the headrest should be adjustable for those who have to sit straight up. as designed, it is far more comfortable to either remove the headrest or turn it around backwards. both of which would lead to severe head and neck injuries in a rear end collision. *tr

9 am april 16 police knocked on door several hondas in the parking lot had been broken into nd driver airbag stolen. car did not start had to be towed to southhonda for repairs. i have a $500 deductible and i want honda to reimburse me plus fix the faulty alarm system. i am retired $500 is lot for something i did not do thank you *tr

My crv started making grinding noises with ignition in sept 2014, approx. 6 months after i purchased it from kings honda in cincinnati, oh. during routine service at kings honda i inquired about the grinding and was told that " it was the vtc actuator in the crvs and this was a known problem to honda." the service manager told me that honda was issuing a recall for the problem soon. i haven't seen a recall yet and i want this problem fixed while my car is still under warranty. please advise on what further action i need to take. thank you *tr

I'm having the same vtc actuator problem as many others are having. started after first oil change. several times in weather below 40 but has now made same grinding noise from 60 degree down. just not as much and not as bad sounding like when below 40. also heard it while driving on a trip for 3 hours at 75mph. honda customer service ( i recorded calls )said their job is to fix under warranty . but they have no fix and only tried once. i was told not all do it, sometimes replacing the part will fix it. they only tried once. i took it in 3 times and mention it more than 3 times but they will not even try. my guess , they don't want 4 failed attempts on fixing it. then you could file lemon law etc. they have found away to work the laws in their favor. so now owners are screwed. a quote from another complaint i read pretty much sums it up for me except, i bought crv in longview texas. little over 5k miles when problem started. i think they should give a life time warrant on the vtca and any problem it causes the motor. btw. i have wasted a lot of time trying to find a fix and or for them to take the crv back etc. all the time i wasted talking to different folks etc. no accountability to big business. Both the low and high beam headlights on this brand new car are very dim. this is a huge safety issue. the dealer will not fix the problem. they suggested i could put aftermarket replacements on as honda does not have better headlights. *tr

I get a harsh grinding 'metal-on-metal' sound from the cam/timing chain, top of the engine when temps below 40 degrees. visited with the dealer i purchased at, didn't even start a work ticket when i told him what it was doing. stated it was the vtc actuator problem ,they all have it, replacing the part won't fix it, just have to live with it. went to 2nd dealer, said same thing but started a work ticket. gave me a copy of a honda "tech line summary article" engine rattles after cold soak startup. affected vehicles, 2008-12 accord, 2012-15 crosstour, 2012-14 cr-v, we're currently working on a solution but have no recommended dealer repair at this time. contacted honda motor co. to file a complaint, we would like to fix your car, how? you don't have a fix, problem since 2008. asked for my purchase price to be reimbursed minus usage. waiting for response from honda. will pursue dispute resolution/arbitration if needed. *tr

More than 5 times when starting the crv, from a cold start and 2 warm starts, i get a harsh grinding 'metal-on-metal' sound from the front right of the engine. this is happening also with warms starts (2x this week). called honda dealer , rochester ny where car was purchased new 6 months ago. spoke to a senior service advisor and told me out right this is a know problem/defect (his words) and honda is well aware of it and there is no fix known. i asked for a date to bring my 2014 cr-v in and was advised there was no reason to look at my car and to wait for the cold weather to go away. he allowed me to quote him that "there is no problem, it's the vtec actuator, nothing to fix per honda usa and assured me that no, none damage is accruing when i hear the grinding engine start noise." he suggested that i turn the key to the 'on' position for 20 seconds, turn off the key, and restart the car and i should have no issues. i tried that 2x today 2/28/2015 and still got the same harsh grinding noise. the fact the dealer won't even let me make an appointment to check this car, and with much research by myself, there is 100's of these same reports via google, youtube videos with exact sounds. i demand this car to be fixed, it is not starting correctly, and i am getting zero assistance from the honda dealer here in rochester, ny. by the information given to me, this is a known, on-going defect in many honda engines, and when i ask more than 50+ pre-sale questions, at no time was i given this information upfront. the dealer and honda are simply hiding a known problem and are using horrid customer service tactics to gt around it. *tr

2014 honda crv: in feb 2015 windshield wipers mostly do not work at all or they work intermittently in cold weather...especially dangerous and frightening when they stopped during several snowstorms allowing no visibility. after making a long drive to fort wayne don ayres ( and trying to find a day when both wipers and i were not working and that it was not snowing on the interstate) the wipers started working again after the crv was driven into their garage. had to bring it back when wipers not working, we were told. in the meantime crv was not safe to drive in snowstorms. on second visit they discovered that the motor on the wipers had to be replaced. a little nuisance problem to them but very frightening to me when driving blind in snowstorms. lucky not to have had a wreck or even a stroke from the frustration of spending so much money on a vehicle to stay safe in winter weather...only to have nonfunctional wipers that make it undependable in winter weather. hope this will be helpful to someone. *tr

I became extremely ill from the offgassing of the toxic chemicals in my new car. it made me dizzy, nauseous, disoriented, sleepy & lethargic, gave me a headache and caused burning to my lips, face and lungs. it was difficult to breathe. a 2012 ecology center study shows that there are over 270 chemicals in a new car, 70 of them toxic (formaldehyde, styrene, benzene, and toluene are known to cause birth defects, asthma, learning disorders, leukemia and other cancers) my symptoms of breathing difficulty, lethargy and sleepiness lead me to believe that these chemicals pose a health risk for sids in infants. the ecology center and an attorney for someone who sued toyota for this same issue said that many people told them they also became ill from the toxins in their new cars. american honda even told me that other people have become ill from the chemicals. consumers should not be exposed to these toxins. manufacturers should not be allowed to sell products that pose health risks. they should be made to disclose this information before someone buys a car. the dealer wouldn't refund. they put in an ionizer, which they said would remove the chemicals. when i breathed in the air, after they put in the ionizer, it burned my lungs so much that i could barely breathe. my lungs still hurt. the american lung assoc, epa, calif dept of health and johns hopkins all report that ionizers create ozone which damages lungs, makes any chemical that it comes in contact with even more volatile and can be lethal. auto manufacturers should not be able to sell products that contain toxic cancer causing chemicals. hopefully, the nhtsa can do something to change this practice and protect consumers, especially vulnerable children, so that they don't have to suffer or die needlessly. i also wonder if car manufacturers are reporting the complaints of illnesses from the toxins to the government. *tr

Every morning with temperatures under 20 deg f, there is a grinding noise upon start up, noise varies in duration between 1-2 seconds.

On 3 or 4 occasions, when it is cold, that when the car is first started, the engine makes a grinding noise. it only lasts for a second or two and when i restart the car, it doesn't reoccur. it also doesn't happen every time that it is cold. i was going to mention it the next time we took the car in for service. i've read that other owners have experienced the same problem and i share their concern that this could be damaging the engine so i wanted to add my report. *js

I live in minnesota where the temperature gets extremely cold. i noticed my engine was making a loud audible grinding noise for about 2 seconds during cold weather start ups. i see more than one write up on this concerning this exact noise. i brought the vehicle to a honda dealer who told me the noise is: "normal but not normal". he said honda is aware of the problem but is not doing anything about it. it is something to do with the vtc actuator when it gets cold. he showed me an email from honda that specifically says to quit replacing vtc actuators because it is not helping fix the problem. it's an engineering problem with the vtc actuator so replacing it with an identical unit will not help.. he then proceeded to tell me that it is not hurting my car in any way, shape, or form. after several more days of loud grinding noises each morning; i spoke with honda customer service over twitter. honda repeated what the service tech told me that they are aware of the problem with the vtc actuator but are currently doing nothing about it. they said, "we are aware of the concern and are looking to see what we could do to reduce it". i then asked them to explain what exactly in the vtc actuator is making the noise. i was told, "i apologize but information on what is making the noise is not available"... not kidding. they also said, "the noise doesn't affect the driveability or reliability of the vehicle. we apologize but currently there are no repairs for this." i am suppose to believe that this is not hurting my vehicle, but they refuse to tell me what is causing the noise in the vtc actuator? it sounds like they are crunching the numbers to see if a recall would be more cost effective then repairing the cars of us cold weather drivers when the time comes and our engines fail. i'm concerned about metal shavings getting into the oil/engine causing failure. *js

During cold winter months in michigan, there is a grinding noise for about 2 seconds when first starting the vehicle. took it to honda dealer and they contacted american honda who told them that this was a "normal problem" with cr-vs apparently due to the oil pump not functioning properly. american honda was contacted and was told that they are aware of this problem but have not indicated any solution. *tr

The engine does not respond (intermittently) to the throttle. this makes for a very dicey situation when turning across oncoming traffic or accelerating from a full stop, e.g., a traffic signal. to overcome the problem, you have to quickly let up on the accelerator pedal and just as quickly apply pressure to the pedal to get the engine to respond. during these episodes the engine is just idling. i took the car to a dealership which performed diagnostics. the answer was the typical one that you receive from a dealership: 'we couldn't duplicate the problem". from postings on the internet, this has been a problem for years with honda vehicles. in fact a dealership service writer told me that his brother has a honda which has had the same problem almost from the day he purchased it. i'm not just imagining this. the problem appears to be the throttle body relay or the throttle body itself which would be very expensive to replace. this isn't just my imagination at work. it has the potential to create a deadly situation. thanks. *tr

I started my car with the remote start and a little over ten minutes later went out to clean off my car and i didn't want my car to turn off when the remote start timed out so i put my key in the ignition and turned it so the car would stay turned on while i cleaned off my car. as i was cleaning off my car i heard the doors lock with the keys in the ignition. *tr

September 2014, 2014 honda crv with ~6k miles started making a loud rattling noise upon first turning ignition switch over. it continued randomly upon starting for only 1-2 seconds & stops. as the weather got colder, it happened more often. took my car to the dealer on 10/15/14 & made them keep the car overnight to replicate problem. problem was duplicated & determined to be variable timing control (vtc) actuator; car was under warranty & fixed. december 2014 w/ ~13k miles same issue resurfaced. contacted dealership 01/14/15, had them pull up 10/15/14 repair work to reference stated same issue is going on. i was told, "... you will need to speak w/ our service manager xxxx as the mfg'r is aware this is a problem w/ thousands of cars like yours & they are choosing to not do any further repair work for this problem bc it will continue to happen if repaired & they don't know how to fix it...". i was then transferred to service mgr & left voicemail. 01/14/15 no response from svc mgr, to speak w/ him again; this time i was not allowed to leave a voicemail & svc tech took my info & said she would put it on a post-it note on xxxx's computer to have him give me a call back. this is a known problem w/ honda's going back to 2008 inclusive of tsb published doc's which dealers dismiss unless consumers brings them up, of which dealers play dumb to not knowing what the car owners are talking about. the problem is not fixable, only temporarily derailed until repair becomes necessary again. the mfg'r is forbidden to fix the car until they work on a suitable 'counter' measure. faulty vtc actuator affects engine timing, fuel efficiency, electrical, mechanical, and batter life of vehicle, potential causing electrical fires which can be deadly.. *tr

It was the first time i drove my brand new cr-v at night and the low beam headlights were so low that i couldn't even tell that they were on. it made it very dangerous to drive on suburban streets where there are inadequate street lighting. *tr

When starting first thing in the morning on very cold days, there is a grinding noise for a second or two. happens also if it is sitting outside for several hours in cold weather. i see other complaints about this and am taking it to dealership to see whether it can be fixed. my car only has 6,500 miles on it and should not be having issues like this. this is happening on my second cr-v as well which has about 9,000 miles on it. *tr

On cold days i hear grinding noise when i start my car, few second noise then its fine. i noticed it started in december when the cold weather hits texas. it does not happen daily only on cold days as car sits in driveway. some days it will be cold and it will be fine and other days another cold day and it will happen for a few seconds. my car has slightly over 8000 miles. i find this too soon to have any issues. i took it to local honda dealership january 16 where car sat over night to duplicate the sound and the car did not make that noise. the weather was in the 40's and noise could not be heard. my car was still at dealership on january 19 and again no sound was heard from certified honda tech. i opened up honda care ticket for a solution and a push from them to replace the vtc actuator. the tech played dumb and said i was the first owner to have this compliant and therefore could not pin point the problem and could not fix something he did not know what it could be. i took my car from them after sitting there since friday, saturday, sunday and monday jan 19. honda care did not push the issue to the dealership so i am considering trading in my car. i cannot be held accountable for a faulty honda problem. now i the consumer have been duped by this ignorance and letting this known issue just sit around and get bigger with consumers. *tr

I was driving on the interstate 90 when all of sudden eps( electronic power steering), vsa( vehicle stability assist) failure and low tire warning light came on. steering became very hard to turn.when i took the car to dealer after one day of analysis they told that alignment of one the front tires was very off. even though it is an warranty issue they refused to honor it and blamed me for bumping the vehicle. i called honda customer service to report the problem.after one day some one from honda customer support called and repeated the same thing which dealer told.my only concern if the eps failure was the issue but instead of addressing issue they just tried to escape. *tr

The awd on the 2014 honda crv fails when the outside temperature falls below zero, the all wheel drive vehicle then is just a front wheel drive vehicle. we live in the northern part of the usa and often deal with snow packed roads. without the awd working this leads to difficult and dangerous driving condition and at times loss of control. the dealership has had the vehicle in 4 times and has been unable to fix the problem and at this time has not offered and solution to the situation, only that the tech/engineers will look into the issue. at this time can not even get the vehicle up the hill of our snow packed driveway without a tow. *tr

The tpms warning light has been coming on since not long after the car was purchased new. we are told by the dealer that the latest software upgrade has been installed. annoying, useless light. constantly re-setting. *tr

During a 3500 mile trip the tire pressure monitoring warning light (tpms) came on at least 6 times. each time i stopped and none of the tires were low. i reset the system and continued to drive. eventually, the light came on again and i repeated the same, stop and check procedure, each time there wasn't any variation in the tire pressure. i have had tpms on other vehicles and never have i had a false reading. the honda system is a basic system at best and from reading other complaints, has been plagued with problems. their system is more of an annoyance than benefit. i was told the 2014's had updated software which doesn't seem to work. honda needs to design a suitable fix for a known problem. *tr

I started bringing my 2014 honda cr-v to nardy honda on april 12, 2014 because the low tire pressure light was on, on april 12th they told me it may need to have the software updated, however after honda mechanics seeing the car they determined it was the latest software and needed no update. they set the tire pressure and reset the systems determining there were no leeks in any of the tires. on may 28th it came on again, they said 1500 see tech notes-topped off air pressure and calibrated tpms all ok. on may 30th they said they uninstalled the software, re calibrated the tires and set them back to factory settings. june 14, 2014 and the light came back on again. when the tires were checked today they all had the exact amount of air. there was no flats or loss of air. now this vehicle has been back for the exact same issue on all the following dates: april 12, 2014, may 28, 2014, june 16, 2014, october 24, 2014 called honda corporate to report problem and see if i could get some help, december 5, 2014 they claim to have fixed the problem for good and today january 5, 2015 light came back on. i called corporate and they told me there is nothing they an do other than refer me to the dealership to have them look at the car. i am once again going back to nardy honda on january 6, 2014 for them to look at the car. this is disgusting how i am being treated. they cant fix my car and wont do anything about it. my rep from honda corporate [xxx] is 1-800-999-1009 ext[xxx], case # [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I purchased my 2014 honda crv awd brand new from the dealer and within one week of the sale i took the vehicle in for sevice due to severe vibrations througout the vehicle when driving at highway speeds of 55 mphbor higher. the vehicle has been back a total of three times thus far and the problem has not been i was told 1. a cupped rear tire, 2. front driver side tire was out of balance 3. tires was over inflated and right rear tire required replacement. in addition to the vibration, the tps light has come on repeatedly. however when checked with calibrated meter the tires were within appropriate inflation range. *tr

Purchased new 2014 honda cr-v on 12/19/14. during the purchase the sales person was specifically asked about the tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) problem, which per the nhtsa complaint process has existed in the honda 2014 cr-v models since september 2013. the sales person was not aware of any problems. asked the sales person to verify the manufacture date of the vehicle to be purchased and was told it was september 2014. the next day (12/20/14) while driving the vehicle the tpms light came on. the vehicle had been driven some 25 miles (the odometer read 115 miles when purchased). tire pressure was checked and found to be 30 psi per specifications. reset the tmps following owner manual instructions. called the dealership and scheduled an appointment for 12/22/14. a software patch (version oha240 december 2014) was installed. honda continues to manufacture and sell a vehicle with a known potential safety defect. past "fixes" do not seem address the problem. when will someone address this issue and solve it?

During cold weather (winter) when vehicle is started first time in the morning there is a one time grinding noise. this is the 2nd honda crv that we own that makes this same noise. when i perform a google search i find similar complaints from many honda crv owners from multiple years of manufacture of the honda crv. the dealer has indicated that this noise issue is caused by the variable timing control valve (vtc) and that honda is working on a permanent solution. honda has been aware of noise issue and supposedly working on a solution for at least 2 model years yet no permanent solution to issue has been provided at this time. honda is currently manufacturing and selling crv's to consumers with a known engine defect and should be made to extend the engine warranty until this issue is corrected. *tr

Car hesitates randomly from dead stop. starts off at about 2 mph and does not accelerate until 5 to 10 seconds even though you are pressing on gas pedal. honda has no explanation for the random occurrence. this has happened to me at least 20 times. does not show up on computer diagnostics. replaced 2014 cr-v after 10 weeks with 2015 cr-v. 2015 model has different issues. no more hondas!!! took a big financial hit on replacing a 2014 cr-v after 10 weeks with a 2015 cr-v. car too dangerous to drive. *tr

The headrests are totally uncomfortable in my new cr-v. i've had to purchase a lumbar support & neck rest (pillow), in an attempt to solve the horrible design of the seat/headrest. it's tilted too far forward & if i attempt to rest my back into the seat, my head is bent forward. no adjustment is able to fix the problem; it only goes up & down. the chevy traverse (which i rented a few months ago) has a perfect headrest. i was able to adjust it up/down & backward/forward! *tr

Our 2014 honda cr-v (picked up the car 11/14/14) has a problem with hesitation during acceleration. had 125 miles on the cr-v when the incident occurred in a local shopping center. after entering the center and going about 15 mph i stepped on the gas pedal and nothing. after a few seconds as i gently again pressed down on the accelerator the vehicle lurched forward. scared the heck out of my wife and i. i hit the brakes. then slowly pressed down on the gas pedal and the car responded okay. we went another 200 feet or so and was making a turn into a parking aisle when it did it again. two people crossing the lot came close to being hit. this is very dangerous and unsafe. we will be returning to the dealership and want this fixed before someone is seriously hurt or worse. *tr

The following problem happens randomly but frequently: at a stop light or stop sign, attempt to proceed and step on accelerator and there is a complete and total lack of acceleration. the vehicle moves forward at an idle pace. this situation may last for 20 seconds or so and then all of a sudden the problem disappears and the vehicle will accelerate normally. it is very dangerous each time this happens as the vehicle is limited to moving at a crawl pace when it happens. if merging into traffic, or making a turn after stopping at a stop sign, you are just out there moving at a crawl and could easily be hit by other cars. looking on carcomplaints.com i find 4 other new honda crv owners experiencing the same problem. my dealer thinks they finally figured out the problem. the brake light switch was not installed correctly. i have now gone 300 miles without experiencing the lack of acceleration. but on the carcomplaint.com site, other people are just being told "dealer can not reproduce" and they are sending customers back out in a car with a potential deadly situation. someone will be maimed or killed. this random and sudden lack of acceleration problem needs to be investigated. all carcomplaint.com people reporting the same problem bought or leased their cars in may 2014 or later. this problem needs to be fixed when cars are in production. just one experience by the unlucky owner of one the honda crv's with this problem could cause a terrible accident. look at the carcomplaint.com site and search honda crv acceleration. customers all report same problem. customers state "afraid to drive the car". please look into this dangerous situation. *tr

The tire pressure monitoring system light comes on for no reason indicating tire pressure is incorrect. when i check the tire pressure it is correct. this has happened multiple times during 2014. *tr

The tpm went on indicating low tire pressure. dealer check: all tires ok, reset tpm. this has happened many times since, it's back on as this data is being entered. a search on-line indicates that many 2014 owners have the same problem (one web site: http://www.carproblemzoo.com/honda/cr-v/2014/2014-honda-cr-v-tire-problems.php) . this is a safety issue because owners can't trust the tpm system: is a tire going flat, or is the tpm malfunctioning €again. this is only for 2014 (and newer?) years when honda went to a new system that monitors the rotational speed of wheels rather than actual tire pressure. thanks *tr

Summary: my honda cr-v has a problem with hesitation during acceleration after a pause (let off the gas for a second). this problem is a few seconds delay between the time i let off the gas and the time the vehicle actually accelerates. i have had two very close calls. the problem occurs mostly around 15 to 20 mph. but has occurred at 65 mph. at 65 i let off the gas, slowed to 60 then tried to accelerate but continued to slow down to 52 before the car accelerated. i've talked with the service manager, mike sheets, at ocean honda, ca. he has acknowledged that there is a problem but states that they can do nothing until they get an s.b. from honda. *tr

The tps indicator light has been on almost since i have owned the car. dealer says tire pressure is ok, but after leaving the dealer, the light will come on again. it is very annoying does not offer a sense of security and safety. we have owned 3 hondas including a 2009 crv and never experienced this tsp indicator light issue except when the tire pressure was low. *tr

The driver's seat belt needs a gadget to prevent the belt from injuring the driver's throat. these gadgets ( i tested several) twist the belt so that the belt is probably less effective in restraining the driver. *tr

The low tire pressure light came on. i had a mechanic make sure all tires were 32 psi and reset the light. it came back on 30 minutes later. pulled in the nearest honda dealership and service dept. told me this is a known issue with 2014's they don't know how to fix. got home and googled it-forums say it is a glitch in the anti-lock brake software. now can i trust my anti-lock brakes?? my car is one day old!!!! very frustrating. *tr

Traveling on trip to california from arizona and the tire pressure system monitoring light came on. we pulled off as soon as feasible possible and checked pressure which was correct. happened to me twice since then and both times the pressure in all tires was correct. looks like a lot of other people have this problem as well. *tr

Apply brakes for normal stop, ease off throttle pedal. when road is clear, release brakes, apply pressure to throttle pedal. no response. add pressure - no response. add more pressure and full speed ahead. *tr the sudden acceleration puts you hard against the seat, with sudden reaction needed to avoid an accident with the car ahead of you going the same way. entering a freeway could be fun!!! this is a frequent occurance, at almost every stop and proceed. from what i hear about air bags in some cars, the sudden acceleration may be a cause of air bag release which would complicate the problem.

Vehicle hesitates when accelerating from stop. this has happened several times when pulling into or across traffic. the hesitation is momentary but could be very dangerous. *tr

I have had constant issues with the tire pressure monitoring (tpms) system on my new crv. the light illuminates randomly when my tire pressure is fine. it sometimes does not illuminate when my tire pressure is not fine. it has been in for repairs 6 or 7 times and there is no fix identified yet. i am left not knowing whether my tires are properly inflated or not. honda is aware of the safety issue but not able to correct (or willing to refund). *tr

To add to the tire pressure monitor list. 2014 crv purchased in april, 2014. tpms monitor has come on several times. usually occurs at highway speeds. we have been assured that the problem has been fixed this time (@5800 miles). this will be tpms complaint 35 of a total of 65 complaints. i guess it doesn't happen to everyone, but it does seem to happen much too often. suspect nys lemon law is my next option. *tr

My honda crv has a problem with hesitation on acceleration that seems to be caused by the computer safety feature that keeps the engine from accelerating or running away when the brake is applied. this feature has a few second delay between the time the brake is released and the engine accelerating. when this happens while pulling into traffic it could cause an accident. if is especially noticeable while driving on mountain roads where you need to touch the brakes and then accelerate. the vehicle has been taken to sons honda, mcdonough, ga twice and they have found no problem with the car. they have acknowledged that there is a problem but state that they have no answer on how to repair it. i have written to honda regarding this problem but have not head anything from them.

Leaving for 4 hour vacation drive; as we were about 60 miles from home the tpms (tire pressure monitoring system) low-tire light illuminated. we proceeded to pull off at a safe spot, examine the tires, check the tire pressure and found nothing wrong. the vacation ended there as we turned around and came home because we can no longer trust this vehicle. the tpms light has been coming on since day one! originally i suspected the pre-delivery tire check and calibration was missed so i performed it myself. the light came on again and i took it to honda who found no problems and acknowledged the condition stating we are working on a re-programming of the computer 12/2013. the light continued to illuminate until i couldn't take it any more and called honda usa again who magically said we have a fix. back to dealer who installed a vsa modulator control unit software update for different driving conditions 6/2014. light illuminated again 8/19/2014 as stated above. called honda usa, took to dealer today for vsa repair kit fit usa 13-040. this seems fishy as it is a repair kit for a honda fit not specifically for a crv. time will tell but we can not trust this vehicle as i am handicapped! *tr

Want to report the serious and dangerous deficiency in the headlights on our newly purchased '14 honda crv. on low beam, the range of lighting is limited to directly in front of the vehicle with a defined cut-off line. on high beam, it is difficult to almost impossible to see directly in front of the vehicle. we have taken the vehicle back to the dealership where purchased and reported this was dangerous and was going to cause a serious accident. they indicated the headlights were fixed and that it was a design issue. this is dangerous and is going to result in serious accidents if not resolved soon. *tr

Since the day i picked up the new cr-v it has had an intermittent problem when trying to accelerate. this is particularly dangerous when trying to change lanes in traffic or avoid another vehicle. it occurs randomly, 3-4 times a day. i will be moving at a moderate speed, 15 to 40 mph, and when i press the accelerator gently, the car slows down!! if i press harder, nothing happens for a few seconds and then it accelerates rapidly! this is very disconcerting. this problem is similar to nhtsa id number 10608235 but occurs only when i am already moving. i've taken the crv to 2 different honda dealers and they test drive it but the problem doesn't happen so they say it must be "normal". it isn't. it's dangerous! someone who actually understands how this vehicle works should be able to figure it out. *tr

With greater experience with the vehicle since my last report, i am writing to reiterate how extremely deficient the headlights on this vehicle are. in unlit, rural areas, the low beams are inadequate and require the use of fog lights on all the time for increased illumination. when the high-beams are engaged (fog-lights automatically go out), near-field illumination virtually disappears. i have written directly to the ceo of american honda, and included print-outs of numerous reports of this concern which are widely posted on the internet. i subsequently received a phone call from a regional customer service rep. instructing me to take this up with a dealer. i have now done so and the dealer reports this performance is "normal" for this car. i implore your agency to undertake an investigation so that tragedies to not have to occur first before any action is taken by the company. in the meantime, i find myself adjusting travel plans and driving times for the sake of the safety of my family. *tr

This is a supplement to 10615142 filed earlier. the tpms on my cr-v does not work. honda can not keep it operating even after 6-8 shop repairs. while this would be dangerous, i am beginning to wonder if the "electronic stability system". and. the "anti-lock brake system". are also inoperable!!! they would seem to use same "inputs" as tpms ???? this may be far more serious than i first thought it was!!!

Rapid and uncontrolled deceleration of the vehicle in an unsafe manner while driving.we were almost hit by the following car.we lost of all instrumentation,all of the warnings lights indicate failure, speedometer,tachometer,airbags,vsa,brakes,abs,etc.. the car has been repaired 4 times. #1(4/4/14) replaced vsa module and bleed brakes+ reset codes,#2 (4/8/14) replace 2 wiring harnesses and verify connections+ reset codes,#3(5/8/14) measure all can buss voltages & drive with meter+ reset codes, #4(6/10/14)dealer thinks they have found a loose ground & replaced ecm/pcm module+reset codes, drove a couple hundred miles then returned. the loose pin may have been from replacing the harness and removing connectors multiple occasions. vehicle has been in for 30 days of service combined. in 1857 miles the vehicle has failed 4 times. you have no speed indication while driving during and after the event. feels like the brakes come on or car is forced into low gear throwing passengers forward and causing following cars to evade the car . there are many error codes during these events. after shutting the car off and restarting car multiple times all indicators will return to normal except for the check engine light. we have pictures and video of three of the events. *tr

June 26, 2014 to whom it may concern, my husband and i were driving east down highway 55 at around 8a.m. on june 23, 2014. a deer came out quickly from the driver's side of the car and hit our new honda cr-v. the driver's side was quite caved in and my airbag deployed. i was in the passenger's side. my husband's airbag did not. he hit the steering wheel with his shoulder. we were quite shook up and sore afterward. the officer that came to file the report mentioned that he was surprised that the driver's airbag did not go off and that in order to move the cr-v he suggested we tow in case the airbag would still go off. this situation has made us quite nervous about driving this particular vehicle because the airbag did not go off. we would appreciate honda investigating this matter. we would like to have a vehicle that is equipped properly should we be in a collision. and we are concerned that with this particular vehicle that is not the case. please let us know what steps need to be taken next, so that we can move forward. sincerely, *tr

This letter is to report my dissatisfaction with my 2014 honda crvs driver side, outside, rearview mirror. at the least, the distortion of this design is a distraction, at the worst it is clearly a safety issue with the inability of the driver to quickly determine what is being reflected in this mirror. please offer a replacement mirror without the split designed reflecting surface. *tr

Since may 27th the tire pressure light comes on every 4-5 days a week. the first time it occurred i utilized the manual to calibrate the system, but then it came on again. i took it to the nearest honda dealership and they checked all of the tires, calibrated the system, and stated that everything seemed okay. another 5 days later the light came on again and i took it back to the dealer, the ran a check through the entire computer tire system and test drove it, so they say, but while heading home the light came back on for the fourth time. i am so sick of this. its very annoying. this malfunction can be safety concern in the long run. after a while, how does the owner determine whether the system is accurately or falsely reporting a problem with the vehicles tires. my crv currently has 1800 miles on it. i will take it to the dealer again for the 3rd time and ask that the sensor be replaced. *tr

Raining went to doctor , came out started car and turned left on road to freeway at 10/15mph code d3 came on. transmission wouldn't shift out of 3rd gear,could not drive faster than 30/40 mph. could not drive on freeway.taking back roads home and parking car 15/20 minutes later started car and code was off .called service dept and was told car fixed it self, this is a safety hazard because this should not happen at all, everytime it rains is it going to stick in 3rd gear like it did. needs corrected now. *tr

2014 honda cr-v. consumer writes in regards to a defective tire pressure monitoring system. *smd the consumer stated after driving off the lot, with his new vehicle, the tpms indicator came on. he returned to the dealer where the system was reset. however, the next day, the light illuminated again. after several trips back and forth to the dealer to fix the problem (to no avail), he was informed the condition was a known defect in some models and honda engineers were aware of it. honda informed the consumer, they were diligently working on the problem. sometime in march, the consumer received a call from honda, advising him the problem was identified and he should return the vehicle to the dealer for a software download. however, the fix did not work. *jb

2014 crv awd ex with 700 miles vibration in steering wheel and thrumming noise between 50 and 70 mph. dealership put over 100 miles on vehicle for testing. drive shaft replaced and still vibrates. dealership removed drive shaft and no vibration. was told only 2 crvs in the state have vibration problems. tpms lights came on 5 times with no explanation from dealership. sensors checked. fan motor made low, loud growling noise when turned on in 15 degree temperature. was told that is normal. ran through car wash with sun shade open and glass panel closed. water dripped in. told it was normal. *tr

The exterior low beam head lights work normally as expected when switch is in low beam position. the problem is when the high beam lights are selected. the visibility provided by the low beam lights disappears when the high beams are selected. the visibility on the high beam setting is great 300 feet forward of the car but minimal to none 50 feet in front of the car. this is very dangerous when driving on turnpikes with a posted speed limit of 75 mph. the visibility on high beam selection is so poor it forced me to use only low beams to see the road and objects immediately in front of my vehicle. this eliminated the possibility of seeing animals or other dangers down the road that are normally visible on the high beam setting. it seems like the low beams are turned off when the high beams are selected if so this is a major design flaw that affects safe operation of the vehicle. any other vehicle i've ever owned the high beam lights add more light to the light already being provided by low the beams. this vehicle takes light away on the high beam setting. i hope nhtsa addresses this problem very soon with honda motor corp. *tr

Tire pressure monitor systemp (tpms) light come on every few miles. we had reseted it 50 time by now. all speed & temperatures. dealers serviced this problem 3 times so far. checked everything out ok. customer forum mentioned a vehicle stability control firmware "vsa/abs software update" & "sb#14-006 update". dealer applied firmware update may 8. but tpms lights still came on. problem not fixed by the firmware update. *js

Greetings - this is to report multiple incidents / a permanent condition of the vehicle headlights being grossly inadequate. the incident indicated here was first of many occurrence while driving on rural roads, especially in inclement weather. most egregious is that when the high beams are engaged , there is a complete loss of near -field luminance. this is greatly exacerbated in inclement weather and undoubtedly a disaster waiting to happen if it hasn't already. i have driven on the same roads and in the same or worse conditions many times with vehicles i have previously owned with far less problematic visibility. regular low-beam activity is inadequate as well on unlit or low-lit roads. on may 26th i was in rural area that i have been driving in for 15 years for the first time after dark in this vehicle. the lack of visibility was shocking. the fear of a deer or other animal crossing the vehicle's path unseen was go tremendous concern. this is a widely reported issue on internet forums and a recall should be demanded. *tr

Tire pressure monitor light comes on indicating there is a problem when there is nothing wrong. honda installed a software update which fixed the problem for a week and a half and the light is back on. all pressures are within tolerance. *tr

I purchased brand new honda cr-v 2014 in oct 2013 and with in two weeks i see a tpms light on and i took it to the dealer, asked them car was not even a month old and mileage was around 450 and i got my tpms light on. they said some tire pressure is low and not correct and manually set the tpms light and after a week's time i got the light again -took it to the dealer and they said the same thing and manually reset the tpms and cycle started again - after a week i got that light once more and until now it's been 8 times i have been to dealer and he don't have a genuine reason and keeps telling this is common for all 2014 cr-v's. i am in dilemma now what should i do with this car. *tr

Within a month of my purchase of new crv 2014 exl, the tpms light turned on(near christmas time). i got it checked from the honda service center, and they at first reset the tpms light manually, and asked me to come back if tpms light turns on. which it did after just 45 miles. then they confirmed honda would be issuing a software patch for this fix. i rechecked in january but still there was no patch issued. i went to another honda service center, thinking it might be a service center issue and there too they told me the same thing, that honda is going to issue a patch. in february when i went for my first servicing they told me the same thing. i checked back again yesterday, but still with no luck. is anyone even working on. its nearly 5 months since i first reported this, but it has gone to deaf ears. it is a safety hazard, not knowing whether the light is on due to a bug or really tire pressure is low. every time i ask a service center representative they would ask whether i was driving bad or putting them in curb or not, instead of even knowing the problem exist. they will ask me to come there at the service center, investigate, reset it manually, and tell me the same thing honda is going to release a fix for this issue. this is a total waste of time. one thing is for sure this would be my first and last honda. *tr

Tire pressure monitoring system has not worked properly since before i took the vehicle off the lot. despite multiple checks, the light does not seem to stay off and has no relationship to the actual pressure of the tires. the tire pressure itself seems fine. i had the dealer conduct a software upgrade on 3/30/14 and the light has been on three times since. the dealer is suspecting that cell phone interference it a possible culprit. *tr

Driver wiper blade is 26 inches long. passengers blade is 16 inches long. this size difference leaves a water line on passengers side and waits for the drivers wiper to remove it. this is extremely annoying during moderate or heavy rainfall. i feel this is poor engineering on hondas part and an immediate recall should e issued. *tr

Tpms light is on again for about the 5th or 6th time since i purchased the vehicle 3 weeks ago. have attempted to reset per the vehicles manual, put car in park, turn on, push the tpms button, will flash twice and then drive for 30 minutes at a speed of between 30 and 60 mph. i did this and apparently the vehicle still did not calibrate. new car, totally frustrated especially to see that there are so many complaints regarding this issue. i will take to dealer again tomorrow morning. *tr

I stopped the car but the car kept going out into traffic. later that day, i pressed the brakes and had to stand up on the brakes trying to stop the car and the car kept moving. car in front of me had to get out of my way. the car behind me had no problem stopping. in addition to that tire pressure indicator constantly comes on. not a good design or vehicle. wasted my money. vehicle was recommended by my insurance company as being safe. i don't see it. help. *tr

The day after purchase, the tpms (tire pressure monitoring system) warning light came on indicating a low tire pressure condition. i checked the tire pressure, and recalibrated the system per the owners manual (tire pressure was high from the dealer (@37psi), and was reset to the 30psi factory spec). the light activated again within several days. i took the vehicle to the dealer, and they basically did the same - tire pressure check and system calibration. we have had this issue now for 6 months. after each system calibration and reset, the light will again activate anywhere from 1 day to approximately 10 days - each time the tire pressure has been within the factory specification. the vehicle has been to the dealer about six times for this issue, with no fix. (we were told honda will have a fix by february, 2014). . the (dealer) service advisor manager can't give us any definitive answer on the problem, or solving the problem. my understanding is the low tire pressure monitoring system is a safety mandated feature, and this is an issue with most 2014 honda cr-v's. *tr

I purchased a new 2014 honda cr-v awd ex-l with navigation from ray price in east stroudsburg on oct. 12, 2013 for $31,000.00. two days after purchase had car into clinton honda in annandale, nj for tire pressure light. (mileage 143). clinton honda found all tire pressures good and reset light. low tire pressure light keeps coming on about 3 times weekly even though tire pressures were good. went to ray price 12/28/13 (mileage 5027) and explained situation. ray price ran codes, which all came up clear and they reset the tire pressure light again. next day, the tire pressure light came on again. 1/4/14 back to ray price, tire pressure light on again. ran codes again and checked tire pressure again, both were good. the tech said it must be a rf signal and nothing could be done about it. i contacted american honda 1/30/14 and 1/31/14 about issue. american honda stated that they are awaiting a software update for this issue. software update should be released by end of february, but no guarantees. the light has been on close to 90% of the time since we have owned the car. once the light comes on it needs to be reset because it will not go out on its own. having the tire pressure coming on falsely constantly is a major safety issue. ray price contacted me on 2/12/14 stating that the software update was available and made an appointment to bring the car in on 2/14/14. after receiving the car from the appointment i checked the tire pressure and the tires were overinflated by the dealer to 35 psi instead of the manufactures recommended 30 psi. i believe this to be their quick fix for the issue and not an acceptable resolution. overinflated tires make your vehicle ride harshly, are more prone to road hazards, wear unevenly. this is right out of hondas owners manual. my mechanic also says that this also increases the chances of hydroplaning. *tr

The passenger airbag off light on the 2014 cr-v is illuminated when the seat is occupied by an adult and it is not illuminated when the seat is empty or occupied by a child. at first i thought there was a problem with my vehicle since this is exactly opposite of how every other car implements this. however, this is how it is written in the owner's manual and this is what i was told was normal by my car dealer. this is stupid to the point of being dangerous--an illuminated display that states: passenger air bag off lights when the seat is occupied by an adult and the air bag is actually on. an elderly or infirm person might sit in that seat and think that the airbag is off so it is safe. a parent might refuse to let a child sit in the seat for fear the airbag was on. this is really dumb. *tr

The tpms icon (low tire pressure warning) on new honda cr-v (2014) comes on about every 30-50 miles even though, when i check the tire pressures, they are all within 0.5 psi of the recommended (30 psi) settings. in short, the tpms is giving false warnings thus making it impossible to rely on. other honda crv owners, having the same flaw, have given up on the warning as had tire blowouts on the highway. i have taken the car back to the dealer and he simply resets the tpms warning icon ---- and, as soon as i drive 30 miles or so the idiot light comes on. the purpose of mandating the tpms warning was to save lives but, if the icon provides false warnings they will be ignored and blowouts can happen. this defective tpms can result in injuries and accidents. yet honda won't do anything about it. *tr

My honda crv was broken into while on vacation in florida. i was only about 300 feet away from the car but was not notified by the alarm. i came back to see glass all over the floor, my personal belongings gone from the car. as a previous owner of a newly purchased honda odyssey, i felt that the car had alarm as the key has remote lock and and unlock functions and the car even sounded a familiar arming sound when remotely locked. when i went into a dealer in florida to inquire why the alarm did not work, they told me that the car had passive alarm, which means that the alarm should sound if the glass is broken. upon returning to new york, i went to the dealer where i purchased the car and they told me the car has no alarm, and that the familiar sound is just to indicate to me that all four doors are locked! at no time during the sales transaction was i told that the car has no alarm or that i needed to purchase an alarm. *tr

I bought my new 2014 honda crv direct from dealer. after three days i brought back the crv because the tire pressure light went on. i brought it back to dealer and said it was because of the cold weather.. they reset the guide. ok for the next two days, then it went back on again. i brought it back and was told that honda was aware of the problem and that they were working on a fix... that was back in december!!! this is a brand new 2014!!! i asked the service man to write that down for me, so i have it on record. as of today, january 30th, my light remains on. i would like to add, that i had a flat tire and was stuck on the road at night...because i didn't pay attention to the tire light on my dashboard!!!!!!! i want this fixed! i thought i was buying a safe reliable car ..honda has a good reputation, ... someone dropped the ball, and the american consumer is paying the price!!! pls... pls fix this problem. may not seem like a terrible thing, but i didn't pay $30,000 for a slight mistake. *tr

I bought at 2014 crv end of sept/oct of 2013. upon the first snow fall i drove the vehicle and had immediate problems. the car was not getting any traction, it was sliding around going down hills and upon trying to drive up hills it would stop without even trying to go up. it would stop and wheels would spin, the rear end spun to the side and i could not get anywhere. the amber awd lights came on and flashed, combination of both scenarios. i finally got it into the dealership as the problem got worse. the rear differential has been deemed defective (overheating issue to point of almost glowing and fluid overheated). the other problem i have had is that if the car was put into 1st or 2nd gear to aid slowing down on a hill, even from a stopped position, it would not respond. the car sped up going down the hill in first gear to approximately 40mph even with the brake on, which would not engage and the anti-lock brakes were engaging and not even trying to stop the vehicle. the car behaved the same even if on flat ground that had even a dusting of snow or even a little gravel. the dealership gave me a courtesy 2014 same year as mine, it drove much better and much safer than mine performed after the first 2 days. i feel the car has more issues than just the differential and is a major safety hazard as the last 1-2 weeks the car has had no control in anything other than dry roads. it has almost wrecked more than once due to these issues. this vehicle is 3.5 months old and had under 10,000 miles on it and all of this has gone wrong since the beginning. *tr

Our tire pressure warning light has been on since we purchased (sept 2013) the vehicle. it came on as we left the dealer ship. we have had it in the honda dealerships service dept 3 times in oakland and each time they reset it and tell us "honda is aware of the issue" and it is a "software issue" that is being addressed. we were told we would get a recall notice after the first of this year (2014). honda is not disclosing the safety issue of a product they have labeled as a safety feature. the internet shows pages of the same issue and complaint. honda needs to make this a higher priority or law suits will be next. we are currently waiting still, not feeling so safe. *tr

I bought my 2014 honda cr-v directly from continental group anchorage alaska, around november 2013, this is a brand new car, on january 2014 the tire low pressure light went on i took it to the dealer and they said because of the cold weather they needed to adjust the pressure and nothing is wrong, around 2 weeks later the light went on again and i took it to the dealer again they said the pressure was normal and when i insisted there is something wrong they said there is a manufacture issue and honda is aware of that, i think this is a serious issue, why as a customer i weren't informed about that from the beginning , also can't just ignore the light how to know if there were really an issue with the tires, i think this is really misleading and frustrating for a customer who decided to go and buy a new car and a brand supposed to be one of the safest cars available. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda cr-v. the contact stated that while driving above 65 mph, the vehicle would vibrate abnormally. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that all four wheels needed to be balanced. the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. the mechanic then performed a dynamic balance to repair the failure. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 2,000.

I purchased the car in november, 2013. since december, while driving on the freeway, the low pressure sensor light for the tires keeps coming on (the sensor has come on over ten times). this has now happened on three different trips between southern and northern california and it seems to come on about every 200 miles. i have gotten off the freeway and had the tires checked and they are all ok. i have taken the car back to the dealer three times and they tell me that honda is aware of the problem. i purchased a honda for its safety rating. this is a serious safety issue as i was told by the dealer to "ignore the sensor light" until they get this fixed. what if the tire pressure really is low? honda needs to make the fix for this situation a priority!!! *tr

Tpms light illuminates approximately every 700 miles. tire pressure was checked and found to be normal each time. car has 3400 miles now and light has illuminated 4 times and each time tire pressure was found to be normal. the last two occurrences were on wet road surfaces with puddling (may be a factor?). *tr

The tire pressure monitoring sensor is constantly appearing on the dashboard. the car has less then 1,000 miles and the dashboard tpms has come on over a dozen times. i have had the car tires checked five times and the pressure is fine. there is something wrong with the tpms system. i have called honda customer services and have been told by a case manager that there is something wrong and the engineers are working on a software fix. no time for this fix has been advertised. it is very disconcerting to be driving with this light on and not knowing whether it's a true tire pressure issue. i hope that this is resolved quickly. *tr

The tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) warning light came on while driving on freeway. took car to dealer who checked tires and did not find a problem. dealer reset/recalibrated tpms by pressing button. drove car for another 300 miles and tpms warning light came on again. personally checked pressure in all tires with a manual tire pressure gauge. all four tire pressures were within spec at 33 psi. i reset/recalibrated the tpms by pressing button. read on the internet that other 2014 honda cr-v owners are having the same problem. honda does not have a fix for this problem. the tpms warning can not be relied on because it gives false indications. i understand that the tpms on the 2014 honda cr-v is an indirect system. there are no actual pressure sensors. it uses the wheel speed/rotation sensors to determine when there is a tire pressure problem. the computer indicates a problem based on different speeds/rotation of the wheels. i don't know if the sensors are the problem or if it is the computer software. *tr

Accelerating up to travel speed on a highway the wheels start shimming we could not control the car. talking to the dealer who said that they where aware of this and that snow & ice can pack into the rims causing the wheels to be unbalanced. i am 70 years old and do not think its safe for me to get out of the car on the highway to clean the wheels. *tr

2014 honda crv was delivered with 233 miles on odometer. within 6 miles of leaving the dealership the tire pressure monitoring (tpm) light had come on indicating one or more of the tires was low on air. our salesperson had already warned us about this during the walk through at the dealership telling us there is no need for us to pull over because more than likely there is no problem. being an informed consumer we were already aware that honda has a serious problem with their tpm system on the 2014 model. it simple does not work. it cries wolf and can not be trusted. after resetting the light it will continually return and have to be reset within 50 miles or less of in town driving. alternately we reset it before a 240 miles round trip hwy drive and the tpm light did not come on during the entire hwy trip. the purpose of the government mandating tpm in all new cars was two fold. first for fuel economy, second for safety. since the tpm light provides false alarms every week, it does not accomplish either goal. we have had no formal response from honda acknowledging there is a problem or that they are working on a fix. there is a forum with 200 posts on the 2014 problems at this direct address: http://www.crvownersclub.com/forums/14-problems-issues/27802-2014-tpm-problems.html

The windshield wiper causes visibility problems when it comes back to the center. the rain was mild to moderate and the wiper pushed the water to the side of the windshield, as expected, then at it returned to the center, it pulled water back over the drivers side of the windshield so that i could not see. is there a recall for the wiper system? *tr

I bought a new honda crv 2014 model on 10/04/2013. on 10/24/2013, i wore flip flops while going to pick up my son from the school, which is 5 miles away from my home. my leg got stuck and i couldn't move my leg from gas pedal to apply brakes, as i entered the school premises. car started to accelerate as my flip flop got stuck in the groove between plastic and metal trim next to the gas pedal. i swerve of the road and hit a tree to avoid collision with the vehicle in front of me. i think there is an issue with the way the trim is designed in honda crv 2014 models. if someone wearing a flip flop?s while driving, it can get stuck in the trim and cause fatal accidents. i didn?t see this issue in older model years of crv. my family is traumatized by the accident and very scared to sit or travel in the car. i was fortunate to come out of it without any major injuries but this may not be the case for others. *tr

I got into a head on collision and the passenger side seat belt came off of the frame, so if not for the air bag the passenger would have gone right into the window.

We bought honda cr-v 2014 on oct 31st 2013. within (first) week low tire pressure light comes on. i thought dealership didn't perform pre delivery inspection. so i went there and they says low tire pressure light triggers due to cold weather. they reset it. after few days/miles again low tire pressure light comes on (second time) and they said this time we are performing different reset procedure. i asked for $0.00 invoice as there attempt to fix the issue. they said we can't give you invoice if we are not charging you. now i was like it should not come on again as they performed different reset procedure, but it comes on again (third time) after 500 or 600 miles. this time they contact american honda and perform another reset procedure and keep car with them for a day to inspect. they also issued $0.00 invoice. now i thought it should be fine, but again i was wrong. it comes on (forth time). now they are saying it's "software issue" and american honda is working on it. (dec end or jan first week) they also said honda is requesting time frame and it should be done by the end of jan 2014. today is feb 19 2014 and issue is not resolved yet. i tried follow up my dealer and honda many times and they are keep saying same thing, we are working on it. since the day i bought car low tire pressure light comes on more than 10 times now and all time i did tire pressure check with same dealer and it was okay all the time. now i am tired of following up with my dealer, honda and keep watching light (!) on. never feel like driving new car. it's a safety issue. when i asked my dealer, who will be responsible if tire blow out while driving? they said its owner's responsibility to keep checking tire pressure. dear honda we didn't bought car to keep in garage. i have most of the mileage proof in pictures at the time light comes on and went to dealer for reset. *tr

Purchased car in sept 2013 within a week the tpm light came on. stopped by the dealer, they checked the tires (they were fine) and showed me how to reset it. within 20 miles light came on again. went back to dealer...repeat multiple times. in oct dealer swapped out tires with another set thinking it may fix the problem. light back on within 50 miles. car back to dealer, they fiddled with it a bit, test drove it over 100 miles, no light. i picked it up, light back on before i arrived home. complained again. was told "honda is working on it"....nov/dec just continued to reset light. started tracking it- usually goes on within 1 mile of same place on freeway, speeds 45-57 mph, 27-45 degrees. was told in nov (?) that a software fix was in the works expected eta jan/feb. march 2014 still hadn't heard anything until i read about a "fix" on the honda owners website. called dealer, they hadn't heard but looked into it and was told by honda that it only worked on approx. 10% of cars and wasn't really a fix. have owned car for over 6 months now, light continues to go on at random. what's the point of a "safety feature" when it only cries "wolf"? pretty disgusted with honda at this point and want it fixed so i can dump the car. *tr

We have 4 instances where we have been unable to start the crv because of a low battery problem. this necessitated using a jump starter to start the car. i have measured the voltage with a multi meter and after driving for a while the voltage will be about 12.4 volts and the next morning it will be about 11.8. my load tester indicated a weak rating. so obviously it appeared to me that the battery needed to be replaced under warranty. bought the car to honda subaru of santa fe in nm on 4/20/16 and dealt with james the service manager. he said that they performed a software update to remedy the problem and that the battery operated within specs. upon arriving home, 100 miles away, the same sub standard condition reoccurred. contacting james with my situation, james said that because the battery was within specs he was not able to replace the battery. maybe 12.4 volts is acceptable because the vehicle has been driven causing a surface charge but if it drops to 11.8 overnight something is askew. if they had performed a load test that problem would have been evident. we now carry a jump starter with us but my wife is not able to use it which i consider a safety problem. judging from all of the problems on this site, honda should be much more responsive to the safety and performance needs of its customers. after reading these posts, most potential buyers of honda products would have serious reservations. we travel full time in a motorhome and will need to have this problem addressed at another dealership.
