2010 HONDA Accord

The car burns a lot of engine oil. There are no leaks, no issues but its burning so quickly that i have to put 1 liter of oil every 2000-3000 miles. The mechanics say its a factory issue as almost every car of 8th generation do that.

Honda refuses to honor court ordered repairs for excessive oil consumption

Significant rear brake pad wear after only 20,000 miles. Front brake pads haven\'t even worn down 1/4 inch and passenger rear break wear indicator alarming already.

Excessive Oil Consumption. Tested and verify by the dealership that it is burning a quart every 1000 miles. However,, because it is a V6 and not a V4 it is not covered by their Service Bulletin. That\'s a crock. The class action lawsuit that Honda settled on has my model and engine listed.

I just took car in for routine oil consumption and the dipstick was empty. Oil was last changed at 104, 000 in early September 2017. NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Beginning in December of 2016, this vehicle has been using excessive oil. At this time a routine 5,000 mile oil change was performed. The repair center said that the oil was very low at the time. The oil was changed again in December 21, 2017 with less than 4,000 miles since the last oil change. In both instances, the check engine light came on. The engine uses more oil, more frequently than when I first bought this vehicle in March, 2015.

The car has excessive oil consumption. 1000 miles after an oil change, there was no oil registering on the dipstick and the car was making a grinding noise. I had high mileage oil put in the car and had my oil changed every 3ooo miles instead of 5000. I checked the oil periodically and this continued to happen.

The lights behind the Heating and A/C controls are going out from right to left. The front reading lights work occasionally. If you push them to turn them on, sometimes that come on and other time they do not. The bulbs have been changed multiple times. The VTC Actuator is causing a rattling sound at cold start. The dealership is aware of the issue, however, they\'ve informed me that my vehicle is not covered under the current warranty.

Excessive oil consumption. I notified Honda that I am having to put in between 2-5 quarts of oil between oil changes. I have a 2010 Honda Accord V6, they have a technical bulleting out tsb #11-033 which says all Honda Accords need a software update to mitigate the problem. Honda refuses to install this update on my car, they say my car\'s VIN is not covered as part of this update.

Honda is insisting that my car burning 1.6 quarts of oil every 1600 miles is normal. The low oil pressure indicator never comes on. You only hear a knocking noise. This is my fifth Honda Accord and this is the first time I have every had this issue.

My 2010 V4 Honda Accord is burning excessive amounts of oil. After doing Honda\'s \"Oil Consumption Test\" they determined that my vehicle burned 2.5 quarts of oil in 5,000 miles, which is within their acceptable range. And after seeing the dipstick I believe that this amount was lowballed. I am aware that they agreed to settle a class-action suit for the V6 models, but they chose not to include the V4, even though they have the same problem. I can only guess this was to quite consumers and fix the models they sold less of. I cannot believe that this engine should burn more than half of its total amount of oil in between each oil change. Honda will not fix my engine, even though it is most likely permanently damaged.

It is necessary for me to add a quart of oil every week to run my car under normal conditions (200 miles of hwy driving on flat roads). Three trip to dealership and I keep being told the computer can\'t find any errors and to use the correct oil. (I am — using recommended from dealership) I asked about oil overconsumption issue for Accords V6 and was told it didn\'t affect my vehicle.

I took my car to the dealership, Honda Cars of Columbia, for the air bag recall. Which was repaired. I informed them of the excessive oil usage and the error codes that appeared. They told me that without the codes present, they could not do anything. I called Honda Cars of America and after getting the run around, was told that my vehicle was not part of their campaign. Honda said that if the error code came on again, this was strictly for engine misfire, they would change spark plugs 1-4 and do a software update even though I have a V6. All I am asking for is to change ALL spark plugs and a software update. Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Excessive oil consumption

This car was purchased new in October of 2009. It is a 2010 model Accord EXL with the 4 cylinder engine. It has burned oil excessively since I first drove it.

The representative that I spoke with from the Honda complaints department told me to shop around at all my area Honda dealers until I find one that will fix it; making the analogy of getting a second opinion from a doctor. (Ridiculous) I also spoke with Kevin the manager at Victory Honda in Plymouth Michigan. He promised he would get back to me after looking further into this problem and never did.

Excessive oil consumption. Honda dealership alluded to the fact it is a problem with certain Hondas but said I wouldn\'t get any satisfaction from Honda. Have to add oil all the time, and when really low, the oil light never even came on.

Experiencing excessive oil consumption. Since oil change in April, added 3 1/3 qts of oil. Now getting an oil consumption test with Honda Dealership so that we can apply for the extended warrranty with Honda.

150 MILES USING A QUART OF OIL HAD TO REPLACE THE SPARK PLUGS TWICE. VEHICLE MPG NOT GOOD

The engine has the DTC P0303 which the dealership cleared and said wasn\'t there. I had it read before I went to the dealership and have a photo of it. The dealership nor Honda would have my car towed to have it fixed. The car would not run until I added oil and changed spark plugs. It burned through 3 quarts in less than 200 miles.
The paint has been chipping around the edges of the body. Any places it bends. Not normal where or normal places rocks hit. This car is 6 years old and needs a new motor and paint. I will never own another Honda!

The paint keeps falling off and dealer said it was normal and not under warranty

On 3/18/15 I took our 2010 Honda Accord with 28,037 miles to Suburban Honda in Farmington Hills,Mi for a oil change,The service manager notified me that the driver side rear pads have worn out to the point of wearing out the rotor beyond turning to repair,and I need a new caliper that as we know must be replaced in pairs.

His price for repairs was $1027.60 + Tax =$1089.26

I took the vehicle to my neighborhood auto repair facility and had all new pads,rotors and calipers replaced for $650.04

This costly expense at this low Mileage of a brand new vehicle is completely unacceptable,how many other trusting customers bought this vehicle and had the same or similar rear brake fail as well.

At the least Honda should reimburse us for all of the repairs.

We had to have both front tires replaced with 28,049 miles do to premature ware.

Incredible uncomfortable front seats. With in 30 minutes of driving, my lower back, bottom, thighs, lower legs and toes are so numb, I can barely walk. Have taken numerous trips to chiropractors though out the years, the problem still persists, I have reach the point of no return and will get rid of it. It is a shame as I love everything else about it…

2013, at 25000 miles, Replaced brake pads. February 2015 the left Rear Brake was making loud squeaking noises and heating up excessively. Both Left and Right pads and Rotors were badly worn and needed replacement. Since replacement, the Left Rear is heating up excessively again (could fry egg on the wheel RIM), rotor smelled of burnt metal (like welding), requiring return for repair/replacement (excessive heat may have burnt up any lubricants in the caliper rods).

Again, premature rear disc brakes pads. This time one of the rear rotors was scored. I replaced the pads but intend to have Hendrick Honda replace the rotor. After 81,661 miles I have yet to replace the front pads, which still have over 1/8″ of usable pad left. This indicates a very severe design flaw, as a vehicle this heavy should not be utilizing its small rear pads for the preponderance of braking force. First failure at 36,752 miles in August 2013.

Replaced rear brake pads at low mileage.

This vehicles seat causes major lower back pain and hip pain. The seats offer no support legs or thighs; they seat may even be too short. The lower back portion of the seatback actually protrudes causing pain to the low back instead of support. I can’t believe Honda continues to be on top of safety list with this major, injury causing flaw!

Rear brake pads and rotors worn to end of useful life and needed replacement after only 38,697 miles.

Premature brake wear.

The “HEAD RESTRAINT” makes this car painful to drive. You can’t sit straight because it pushes your head forward. That means you have a stiff neck, painful back and a headache. Because you’re distracted by the pain and discomfort, you are less in control of the automobile. This can cause accidents and will require medical assistance over time. Honda suggested I turn the Head Restraint around, which would make your head more likely to roll off it during an accident, causing the head to hit the window or fall toward the unprotected center of the car. Other users have bent the posts to get a better angle, so their head isn’t down against the chest. I can’t drive looking downward, which means eyestrain because you’re forced to look “up” to see the road that would be straight ahead if you could hold your back straight!!! The head restraints make the Accord a dangerous car.

I found that Honda Accord has a recalls.

I got my oil change in April/May – 2013 and Honda dealer found everything good and brakes were close to 8 (on the brake scale) on all the wheels. In just 2 months, the rear brake started making noise and then I came across the Honda Accord Brake Recall issue.
Now Honda is not acknowledging this defect and saying that my vehicle does not meet the criteria. Honda is denying to pay the expenses. I can not believe that Honda can do this. I will never buy Honda in my life if they will not reimburse this cost.

Just purchased used from Ourisman Honda of Laurel. in order to have vehicle certified rear brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. This is odd for a car with only 22k miles

EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVER’S SEAT RESULTING IN EXTREME PAIN AND NUMBNESS AFFECTING BOTH LEGS AND HIPS. I’VE OWNED THIS CAR FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS, 2 OF WHICH IT’S BEEN PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE NUMBNESS IN MY RIGHT LEG STARTED BEFORE I GOT IT HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP BUT I THOUGHT I JUST DIDN’T HAVE THE SEAT ADJUSTED PROPERLY. I SPENT THE NEXT FEW WEEKS TRYING EVERY SEAT POSITION POSSIBLE, ADDING CUSHIONS ANYWHERE I THOUGHT WOULD HELP, ALL WITH NO SUCCESS. THE REAL PROBLEM BEGAN WHEN I TOOK AN DROVE TO A SEMINAR ABOUT 3 HOURS AWAY. I COULD HARDLY WALK THE NEXT MORNING . THE PAIN WAS SO SEVERE IN MY LEFT HIP AND LEG THAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED X-RAYS AND THEN A BONE SCAN TO RULE OUT A FRACTURE.
THE TESTS SHOWED A CONDITION CALLED SPONDYLOLISTESIS INVOLVING L4-L5 VERTEBRES WHICH WOULD CAUSE COMPRESSION ON THE NERVE ROOTS THAT SUPPLE THE LEGS. I CAN’T PROVE THAT THE SEAT CAUSED THIS BUT I KNOW IT DID. I HAVEN’T DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE(4/30/13) AND AM STILL IN PHYSICAL THERAPY TO ADDRESS THE PAIN. THE SYMPTOMS ARE BEGINNING TO EASE UP SLIGHTY BUT I CAN’T DRIVE THE CAR. I’VE CONTACTED THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND ANOTHER LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND BOTH SAID THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO BUT SELL THE CAR AT A GREAT LOSS TO MYSELF. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL HONDA CUSTOMER AND AM SO DISAPPOINTED THAT HONDA WON’T MAKE THIS RIGHT. THE CAR IS GORGEOUS, ONLY HAS 18,000 MILES ON IT AND I KNOW IT’S DEPENDABLE BUT NONE OF THAT DOES YOU ANY GOOD IF YOU CAN’T DRIVE THE CAR.

Accord EX: The front seats in my newly purchased Accord are extremely uncomfortable and are causing back pain.

At around 25,000 miles, my Honda Accord’s brakes began screeching. After bringing it into the repair shop, I was told that the rear brakes needed to be replaced. Rear brake replacement at 25,000 is not normal. This is an indication of a serious design flaw that Honda is not owning up to. I called Honda corporate and they gave me a “one-time” reimbursement of $150.

Heard squeaking when braking. Took to dealer; told that needed new back brakes in this front wheel drive vehicle with mostly highway miles.

Accord EX-L: Premature failure of the brake pads and replacment of rotors

My 2010 Honda Accord brake failure was not covered by the Honda brake class action lawsuit settlement even though my rear brakes failed prior to reaching 20,000 miles. This break failure is not acceptable and placed me and my family in danger!

The rear brakes on my 2010 Honda Accord have worn prematurely. While the front pads are fine and have 7mms left, the rear have less than 3mms left and need already need replacing. My car has only 19k miles. I have never owned a car where the rear pads needed replacing before the front pads. I noticed a recall of certain 2008-2010 models on this issue but was told my car was not one of the effected models?? I have yet to replace them and will not be driving my car until I receive a resolution to this issue.

I noticed that my brakes were making a screeching sound every time I stepped on the brakes. I took it to honda to see what was wrong with it. I thought, there is no way brakes could be going so soon. After doing the inspection check on the brakes the technician came back and told me my brakes were completely worn. So I replaced it and came out of pocket $151.00. Then I did some research online about recalls on Honda and realized that I wasn’t the only person that encountered this problem.

I have had a very troubling and disappointing experience with the Honda Accord my wife and I purchased from Rick Roush Honda (Medina Ohio) in July of 2010. I have attempted to work out a solution through the dealer but was told by Mark Igleheart the assistant service manger that the Honda zone manager has refused to offer any compensation.

This was our second purchase of a Honda in the family after a string of four Nissans. It was a big change for us to leave Nissan as they have serviced us well. I currently drive a 2001 Altima with over 157,000 miles. The Maxima we traded in for the Accord had over 175,000 miles. My son drives a 2002 Altima with over 120,000 miles. None of these vehicles required rear brakes at 30,000. Up until this point we have been pleased with our Accord.

Since our purchase we have had our Accord serviced at Rick Roush Honda, the last time being on Saturday May 12th.

We were expecting a normal $25.00 – $30.00 oil change. Imagine our surprise when the total cost for the services came to $515.32.

A) Maintenance Minder Code B Service $82.27. I have no issue with this service as it makes good common sense.

B) Replaced Engine and Cabin (HEPAA) Air Filters per Maintenance Minder Code 2 Code. $66.55. Again no issue.

C) Replaced rear brake pads and rotors $323.02. This is where I have an issue. According to the inspection checklist rear pads frozen in penches caused the rotors to over-heat.

There is no reason why this should have occurred to a vehicle with 30,000 miles. Rear brakes should last 60,000 70,000 miles. It is quite obvious this premature brake wear is a braking system defective the same as or similar to the issue in the class-action lawsuit settled in late 2010.

Have or will other 2010 Honda Accord owners experience the same problem?

Has Honda orchestrated a cover up to avoid the bad press and a costly recall at the expense of the safety of its customers?

I expect a reimbursement from Honda for the $323.02 charge including the sales tax. That will be a total of $344.02 ($323.02 + tax of $21.00.

I am also requesting that Honda tell me what steps it is taking to correct this problem.

Honda dealer said I needed new rear brakes at last service with only 25000 miles. They also recommended a brake flush which cost additional $170. Not sure if this is required when replacing brakes.

Experienced severe steering wheel and body shake when applying the brakes at speed over 6o mph. Shop replaced rear rotors and rear brakes. Now at 60000 miles the exact same symptoms are back. Have appointment at the Honda dealer for july 5th to repair and see if they recommend a different fix this time.

2010 Honda Accord EX-L V6. This problem first occurred a couple of months ago. It is the subject of Honda Service Bulletin 10-033, August 11, 2010. The engine starts to misfire and runs very rough. The check engine light, VSA, and ! all come on. I take it straight to dealership. They say it is very rare, and they need to replace three spark plugs and update the PCM software. Exact problem again two months and 4,000 miles later. This time they say the short block needs to be replaced. Searched the Internet and have found many with the exact same problem. All 2008-2010 V6 Accords can develop this problem. Some occur as soon as 10K or 15K miles…me at 51K and 55K. Why isn’t this subject to a recall?

Premature brake problems on the rear of the car.

My 2010 Honda Accord seats are causing me extreme pain. I can only drive this car for 5 minutes. If I drive this car for any longer period of time I can not straighten up upon exiting the car. There is pain in my right hip, leg and back due to the defectively made seats. It takes me 15 minutes of walking upon exiting car to stand fully erect. After that I have chronic pain on my right side most of the time. The seat is not level (I put a leveling device on it) The seat is not padded and it slants to the right.

rear brakes have worn out on this new vehcle @23,000 mi. rotors are damaged. dealer informed me there is no defect with the rear brakes. they will not pay for the repair.

I have been advised to provide you with the details regarding this issue from the Consumer Reports auto division and my Military Legal Office.
My 2010 Honda Accord V6 is using oil and has since I took delivery of the vehicle. It started with their so called break in oil never got past 500 miles and the dealer had to add oil. This issue has continued to present with just the dealer adding or changing the oil much before its due date every 2000+miles. Just recently the dealer had at the request of American Honda did what they called a “computer flush”. I still experienced oil consumption to which American Honda replied, “Its acceptable that you vehicle use one quart every 1000 miles”.
If this is true then American Honda should let customers know about this. I do not think many would buy the product when the vehicle uses more oil than ones lawn mower. I have a detail list of memos with mileage and dates relating to this issue, if you should requre them. My thoughts are that there is an issue with oil consumption that Honda does not know what to do to fix the problem thus comes up with the–“one quart every 1000 miles is acceptable”

I have been advised by my military legal office (that can only provide legal advise) to explore every available option open to me regarding this issue as it appears not to be an acceptable reply from American Honda.

The rear brakes have worn out prematurely and this is something that will be a continuing problem for the life of my Accord, a car I bought for its reliability. Honda was aware of this problem on the 2008s, and the dealer did not seem suprised when I showed up with the problem. I am very disappointed in Honda and how they are handling this known issue.

Very uncomfortable seats that puts a lot of stress on your back and legs. I keep having to adjust my seat while driving which is a safety issue especially on the highway. The design of the seat isn’t appropriate and should be looked at it by Honda. My back is always sore after driving in the car for more than 30 mins. The lumber support piece is very very hard and seems its made with very cheap unacceptable material.

Premature wear brakes, either front or rear, and excessive noise.

I understand that there was a class action lawsuit against Honda for the 2008 and 2009 model years of the Accord for premature wear of the rear brakes. I have a 2010 Accord with 22,837 miles that just had to have the rear brakes replaced. My car is not included in the settlement and I thought that Honda had corrected the issue but apparently there are still problems with the rear brakes in the 2010 model year.

I was just told I need new rear brakes. The car only has 16,000 miles on it.

Still fighting having to absorb new brake cost for a vehicle that has so little miles on it as Honda Accord owners have been given a lemon with premature brake wear.

Left Rear and right rear brakes – inner pads wearing considerably faster than outer pads. At 15,984 miles left and right front brakes measure 7mms; left and right rear brakes measure 3mms. I submitted my claim to the Honda Rear Brake Pad Settlement Administrator and my claim was denied. Supposed reason that my VIN number is not eligible under the terms of the settlement. So I guess it’s okay for Honda to continue to install defective rear brake pads and rob the consumer of the $180.00 that it costs to fix their mistake. This is my 4th Honda and it will be my last. And every opportunity I have to share my experience, I will. I have a large public audience and trust me when I say they too will know how unethical Honda really is…
05/09/2011 – Update to my complaint – I received a letter from Honda claiming they made several attempts to contact me by telephone but have been unsuccessful. Maybe if they had left a message, we would have made contact. But no messages on my home phone or cell phone. So they continue to make fools of us consumers. I tried calling them at the number provided in the letter only to be connnected to a voice mail instructing me to leave my name, phone number and VIN number – and are you not surprised that I haven’t heard back from them yet? So Honda – unless you want to see another class action suit for the SAME issue – pay the consumers what they deserve – a full reimbursement for the cost of the faulty brake pads that Honda KNOWINGLY continued to install on 2010 Honda Accords!
06/11/2011 – Update to my complaint. I was satisfactorily compensated for the expense of the rear brake pads. It pays to call Honda directly. My faith has now been restored in Honda’s integrity.

I was sold a New 2010 Honda Accord last year and I have already had to replace the calipers, rotors, and pads on my rear brake assembly. I was then told by Honda America that these are wear parts that they will not reimburse me for. I fully understand that brakes are wear parts but NOT AT 20,000 MILES. If it is acceptable for Honda to sell cars with braking systems that need this kind of attention so early in life, they should be required to warn the customers at the time of purchase.

I drive 25-30,000 highway miles per year commuting to work. I have 32,000 miles and the car needs rear brake pads and rotors resurfaced. Front Brakes have 75% remaining life left. This is a joke. Honda has a problem that they will no fix.

Drivers Seat Lumbar Design causing Driving Safety Issues

First of all, I do love the vehicle exception for this issue. While test driving vehicles I personally test drove another version of the EX-L with NO issues; not sure why, but that car was awesome. However, after negotiating, etc. I purchased the same model, but a different vehicle; big mistake.

Note: It seems that this problem is more prominent for male drivers versus female drivers, but I also know that my wife has started having more issues as she drives it more.

This problem has become so bad that I refuse to drive it past 1 hour on the road; it just doesn’t happen. Why is this so? Because the driver’s lumbar is improperly designed. …my statement comes from experience of personally having several vehicles over the past 30 years in addition to driving rental vehicles on a very frequent basis (I typically place more miles on rental vehicles than my personal vehicles) and I really do enjoy driving vehicles on long trips

The 2010 Accord EX-L front seats were never tested for the comfort Honda is known for (at least not for a 6 ft 2 in male that Accords were previously known to support – one of the preferred vehicles for tall people). Having a 99 Honda Odyssey which is AWESOME for long trips as well as my 2002 Acura TL, the newest Honda is my fleet is quite a disappointment. I purchased the vehicle due to how Honda has always exceeded my expectations, but this current problem is less than acceptable.

When driving the vehicle I literally get a pain in the back. I have made multiple seat adjustments with no success. The lumbar area becomes very painful where it forces me to get off the road to rest the back. If I do not do this I become irritable (doesnt go over well with my spouse or the family) and starts impacting my driving ability. I have taken measures to wear a flexible back brace that provide additional comfort, but that only lasted another hour prior to the pain in the back returning. This is unacceptable (& I have never done this with any other vehicle I have owned or rented) I have communicated to my wife (it is her vehicle) that I will no longer drive the Accord EX-L except on short trips (less than 60 minutes). The physical pain (legs, back, hip, etc.) the seat causes is unacceptable and needs resolved prior to my giving it another chance.

I have done significant research since the purchase looking for fixes, etc. including inquiring with dealership and speaking with Honda Customer Service with no assistance. The last result from the dealership was that the engineer did also experience the problem, but could not proceed further as Honda did not have a Tech Note on the problem. I spoke with Honda Customer service (the 800 #) again on Friday about this with little success. I communicated that the amount of complaints being found on this topic is unbelievable and they responded “Honda Engineers do not have time to research the internet to understand the problems with the seat and are uninterested in helping with this issue as they are focusing on other vehicle improvements/enhancements”. WOW! is what came to mind when this was stated to me. I confirmed the response provided to me and she basically stated “Oh well, its your problem now as there is not a Technical Service Note, Service Repair, or product recall on this issue, but do feel free to check back up with us on the problem”. This just didn’t sit well and hence why this note is being posted.

Note #2: Similar issues occur with the passenger seat; only it is not as prominent of an issue.

I’m continuing to look for options with issue (seat replacements, seat cushion fixes, external seat support devices, etc.) as it is clear that Honda’s customer focus has changed. Their ability to provide top quality vehicles, help service issues that are fundamentally flawed with a vehicle design, and ensure that a happy customer drives future sales is no there any longer.

If this changes I will keep everyone posted as today Honda is not on my radar for my next purchase (& I have 1 to 3 new vehicle purchases within the next 5 years)

Will need to repair. Honda is aware they have a problem and only when I spoke with a Service Manager were they more forthcoming about the issue. I was then advised of a Class Action Lawsuit involving this problem that is not been settled yet.

My rear brake pad wore out at 24,300 miles. I was told this was a common thing with the 2008 and 2009 accords and some 2010. The dealer gave me info about a class action lawsuit, but my VIN number is not included and I think I should be able to get $150 towards new rear brake pads too! These should last 60,000 miles + and I was never told about this problem prior to purchasing the car. It cost me $300 to replace the rear brake pads! Does this mean $300 every 25,000 miles – I wasn’t expecting that.

I have a 2010 Honda Accord EXL with 3,000 miles and my wife and I are unable to tolerate sitting in the seats for more than 15-25 minutes without severe back pain and/or muscle spasms. This should not be when you pay 30k for a new vehicle.

My 2010 Honda Accord Coupe was making a metallic "squealing" sound when I applied the brakes (and, eventually, after applying the brakes). I took my car to the dealer (Union Park Honda in Wilmington DE) to have the brakes looked at and was told that they needed to be replaced "with an updated factory part". Afterward I saw the numerous complaints about 2008-2009 Honda Accord Rear Brake wear after as little as 15,000 miles. My 2010 Accord (which was not one of the 2010’s included in the class action lawsuit) had almost identical issues. Also of note is that the rear brakes were at 1mm of material left (out of 10mm), while the front brakes were at 7mm (out of 10mm), so this would not indicate wear due to driving conditions.

I just bought my new Honda Accord and the front seats are causing incredible back, neck, and leg problems–pain & numbness that continues non-stop, worsened after even short trips. I see that this is a known problem. Will any action be taken? The dealer said there is nothing they can do. The seats are harder than concrete, but I was told that they would break in. After reading so many other posts, I do not believe this will happen. HELP! These seats should be recalled!

I bought my car brand new (4 miles on the odometer) from Honda of Pasadena, Ca. In Dec 2010 I took my vehicle in for it’s 1st service call and was advised that my rear brakes are at .2mm and need to be replaced. i was told that it would cost $260.00. I was baffled!!!! My vehicle is front wheel drive and has less than 12000 miles, why did my rear brakes go out so quickly? I have not made the necessary repairs because I am trying to obtain more information on this matter. Rear brakes need to be replaced closer to 70K miles… not 11K! Please help!!!!1

The front seats are the most uncomfortable seats I’ve ever experienced. The front of the seat doesn’t adjust downward enough and hits the wrong pressure points under the thigh, thus cutting off circulation in the leg. The seat is also too long and hits at the back of the knee where your leg bends. The seatbelt buckle hits and presses against the leg right where the leg/hip bends. This too cuts off circulation to the leg and makes it very difficult to walk when you get out of the car. I’ve been experiencing both leg, hip and back pain shortly after getting my new car. This is a major problem since I’m in the car for a very long time period on a daily basis.

Rear brakes were making noise. Brought vehicle to dealer on 10/22/2010, inspection revealed rear brakes had worn 50% while front brakes were found to be in near new condition. The technician stated Honda has been experiencing problems with the rear brakes wearing prematurely. He also advised that Honda is currently dealing with a Class Action Law Suit reference this problem. I don’t feel that I should be charged for premature wearing of brakes if the fault is due to Honda’s faulty design. Also, this is my 5th Honda and up until this point i have been happy.

On 1/29/2022 at about 11am i was stopped in a turning lane waiting at a redlight. when the light turned green i pressed the gas pedal. at this moment the ability to drive, brake, and select gear all failed. i deployed my emergency brake. i called the police to let them know i was blocking traffic and my car was towed. when my car was taken to be repaired the mechanic determined that the cv axle driveshafts had failed due to salt corrosion. these were then repaired and the car worked again as normal.

This past week i experienced a catastrophic malfunction with the vehicle, while driving it appeared to short circuit and shut down. it would not allow me to drive in any gear whatsoever. upon taking it to a mechanic at jiffy lube he stated the incident is identical and experienced the same issues that honda and the dept of transportation deemed a recall that could have ended in severe injury or death. that issue and recall being (see below) powertrain:auto transmission control module (tcm,pcm). you see the mechanic at jiffy lube referred me to this recall due to his analysis and diagnosis being the same. whom stated that the vin doesn't state a recall, but it being the exact same model, make, engine, year, and coupled with the fact that it has tcm and pcm catastrophic damage, i was subjected to and encountered. i request this matter be further researched and investigation conducted because 1.5 million vehicles were effected and i'd feel more confident and place more faith in honda upon investigation.

I had my oil changed last month on the 17th at plaza tire in malden missouri.. i check my oil frequently. i checked it the 15th of this month an it showed no oil on the dipstick an i couldn't believe it to be honest because no indicators popped up or nothing i don't understand how thats possible

My transmission is slipping from 2nd going into 3rd gear. it revs up really high when shifting and jerks. all the other gears are fine. my car only has 104,484 miles.

I have a 2010 accord coupe i notice ac/heat vent problems and a leak in the coolant inside the passenger floor/console area. so i researched it and saw this manufacturer communication id: 10120775 says: in this service bulletin, honda alerted dealerships that the driver’s side vent may produce a lower level of heat than what is coming from the front passenger’s vent. the most common cause is that the car’s heater core is partially clogged. when this happens, it can cause the heater's performance to fail. the company instructed dealerships that encounter this problem to flush the heater core to resolve it. no recall has been issued, but dealerships should know how to handle this problem. i will reach out to honda dealerships in my area to see what happens.

The car for the longest time makes a screech at first start and sometimes at other times. also the steering is off center and wheel turns left and right when brakes applied and when going over bumps. i had steering and shocks and struts replaced and adjusted as well as alignments done problems still there. i had those parts replaced due to originally having problems with handling. i took car back to adjust twice still have problem. the noise is still there at start too. not safe.

235/45r18 94s m+s i originally purchased these tires because they were rated #2 on top 10 anti-hydroplaning lists. after receiving the tires i realized the anti-hydroplaning characteristics are due to an unusually deep tire tread. after driving them a bit i realized that the tire compound had excessive lack of grip on lightly wet surfaces and often on dry surfaces. so they may be good for anti-hydroplaning as long as the tree depth is deep, but the worst traction for dry or slightly wet surfaces for any tire i have ever driven. going down slight downhills with a turn is extremely dangerous even at slow speeds. this morning i was going down a short street with a slight grade and a turn at the bottom when the car failed to turn and continued straight (like on ice). these tires (same on my wife's mazda) have had traction problems since we bought and installed them. my wife's mazda won't go up hills with turns on dry pavement and at slow speeds without losing traction. all tires on both vehicles have decent tread depth. this is a dangerous driving condition on uphill/w turns and especially on downhill/w turns. i believe the ntsb should do an investigation into car accident deaths occurring on graded hills with turns at the top or bottom of the inclinations. the tire in suspect is the firestone winterforce 2 tire. please investigate this to possibly save lives. and if a high accident rate is found please have these tires recalled.

There is a rattling noise at start up. it started only when the car would sit over night. now its everytime you turn it off. so it seems to be getting worse. found out that its the vtc actuator. not sure if they have issued a recall for this yet.

While backing out of my garage, my daughter observed flames coming out from the front center of the hood. i then put the car into park, and we got out of the car. i opened the hood, and observed smoke coming out of the alternator, and flames coming from the lower engine area. i then went into my garage to get my fire extinguisher, and put out the flames. i then phoned a towing service to transport my 2010 honda accord to the mobil station at 12 mile and farmington roads where i normally have my honda serviced. i then telephoned my mechanic at the mobil station to let him know that the two truck would deliver my car to him shortly. my mechanic then recommended replacing the alternator and started, which i agreed to. the next repair was to replace the engine wiring in my honda accord, which did not repair the vehicle. after 8-9 days, could not repair my 2010 honda accord, on october 8, 2024 my neighbor and i visited suburban honda in farmington hills, and were told to contact honda america to open a case, which we did. after phoning 800-999-1009, and sharing the details of the engine compartment fire, an official honda case [xxx] was opened to document the engine fire in my 2010 honda accord. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

My air bag light went on for unknown reason.

My wife thought she locked her keys in the car and i got a hanger to try and get in by putting hanger in window and pulling the latch for trunk and then pull the lever to fold down the back seat and then i crawled in from trunk and when i lifted the back seat to look on seat it latched and i was locked in car! i could not open any doors or windows and it was very hot that day and it was even hotter inside the car. i thought i was gonna die! i was trying to yell but nobody was around and my son in law just happen to pull up and i was screaming beating on the window and he heard me and saw me and rushed over and i told him to pull the latch in trunk to open back seat and he found the latch and i was able to crawl out. i thought i was gonna die!! you cannot get out of that car if you are inside and the locks are locked. there was a time not long before that my wife and i went to store and she went in and i was gonna come in after i got done with my phone call i was on and when i tried to open the door it would not open and i had to wait for her to come out of store to unlock the car so i could get out. after this last incident i was so shaken up i didn't know what to do until my brother in law told me to file a complaint before it happens to someone else that might not get lucky like i did and to call an attorney which is what i'm gonna do regardless of what they do about it. i'm a grown adult and could not get out of that car and if that were to happen to a child i don't wanna even think about what would happen and that is why i'm making this complaint so it can be fixed before it happens again if it already hasn't.

Electronic throttle actuator, gas pedal assembly failed. as i accelerated the gas pedal failed in the position against the firewall and could not be pulled up. the vehicle increased speed on its own and brakes did not work. the spedd continued to increase. i had the vehicle towed to cardinal honda 860-449-0411 in groton connecticut. polise were on sight on the highway after i pulled over in neutral. no other way to stop the car. the car in in the shop and awaiting the new part. there was not indication in the dash panel that the electronic throttle actuator needed to be looked at. it was a sudden failure.

I was involved in accident today and to my surprise my airbags did not go off . did not go off and i had them replaced after the recall for honda accords 2010

08-2010 accord nose mask safety recall that is not being honored.

105k miles, regular car maintenance, clean title (no previous accidents/other issues), no pending recalls. while driving the car at 55 mph on the highway, the engine somehow ignited and caught fire. previous to this incident, there were no pending issues, which were confirmed by a recent inspection and minor repairs. i strongly believe this was a faulty honda engine.

Takata recall i have a family and have been unable to use my vehicle as intended for the past five months due to the possible injury to passenger warning. i would like to sell my vehicle, but i am sure that the current recall will affect the resale value.

Engine makes rattling sound that lasts 1-2 seconds when starting engine after overnight idling. sound of metal-metal rubbing each other. sound goes away after a few seconds. complaint similar to one found online where many people complained of same issue and pin-point problem to the vtc (variable timing control) actuator.

In july, 2016, i received notice nhtsa recall 16v-346 informing me of a problem with the airbags in my 2010 honda accord. called the honda dealership, gardena honda, where i bought the car and get it serviced. they said they would order the part and call me when it arrived. on august 20th and august 27, i called to see if part was in, and dealership claimed it was still on order and that they would call me when it came in. i never received a call back. on nov 2, i called again to the gardena honda dealership. i spoke with kim, who claimed there was no record of my car being serviced there ( i have brought it 3-4 times a year since purchased in 2010!) or the recalled part being ordered. i asked to speak with the manager. she took my name and phone number, but never received a call back. i am concerned for my safety and that of my passengers due to the defective air bags i will take legal action for any injuries resulting from the defect, which i have tried for several months to repair.

My motor begins to grind when i turn over the motor for about two seconds..and my motor is burning oil i have to add 2-3 quarts every oil change

The srs sensor indicator light came on around sunday 10/30/2016. took the car into middletown honda (middletown, ny) for a diagnostic test, they confirmed it was the sensor and that it isn't covered by my warranty. i looked on the dot website and entered my vin and saw my car doesn't fall under the recall. but there is, in fact, a recall for the srs sensor in 341,000 other honda accords. i called the 1-800 number for honda, and they told me there is nothing they can do because my car doesn't fall under the recall because of where my car was manufactured. this doesn't seem right, considering the part has clearly failed. as far as i understand, this could possibly cause all of my airbags to fail. i would like this issue to be fixed. i understand that my car doesn't fall under the current recall, but maybe more cars need to be added to this recall. the part has gone bad and i think it should be corrected.

I bought my 2010 honda accord 2dr lx-s (5a) brand new in august 2010 and have had several issues with it since - most of which has gotten worse that i am scared for my safety and those on the road. - while driving on both highway and non highway speeds ranging from 15mph - 60mph severe rubber smell and grinding of brakes-sounded as if the entire car was going to fall apart. when i got home the rear brakes and pads were completely rusted, black and were extremely hot to touch. schaumburg dealership said the rear pads weren't installed correctly. -everyday since mile 25,000 my car when started at any time has made a large and extremely loud cranking noise that lasts about 2 seconds. schaumburg dealership days this is related to the i-vtec 4-cylinder engine but it was no longer under warranty. (this was at 71,000 miles). no fuss had been made had they said it is completely fine with the cranking noise. -when turning and driving in general the car makes a weird whining noise from 0mph - 45mph i've noticed this many times as when turning left or right my vehicle ias extremely uneven. this also could relate to the starting wheel being 5 inches to the right when the wheels are straight; i've paid for multiple alignments and it continues to happen. -lastly the breaking system is terrible and does not stop correctly. i now have to slow down almost to a complete stop 500 feet prior so they work; i have to drive extremely slow and be very cautious. *tr

Takata recall: i called my honda dealer in serramonte, ca on july 23, 2016 to order a remedy part. i have called back multiple times and each time they say their is a delay and they will call me when they have the part. it has now been 11 weeks and they still have not called to schedule an appointment to replace the part.

My wheel bearings were replaced under warrant at 50,000 miles. two years later, both of my wheel bearings are bad again. it appears there are other incidents of wheel bearings on 2010 honda accords going bad under 100,000 miles. i believe this is a safety issue and concerned that this problem could be wide spread.

Car stalled in middle of road with engine light on. upon checking mechanic found that there was hardly any oil left. low oil light didn't light up as it should. this was very strange as i maintain my vehicle real well with regular oil changes etc. upon researching online it seems honda cars consuming oil is top issue reported by consumers, check this forum... http://www.hondaproblems.com/trends/excessive-oil-consumption/ there was a class action lawsuit and honda agreed to fix issue via software upgrade, please refer to technical service bulletin (tsb #11-033) in july of 2011 that acknowledged the problem. however, only certain v6 models were covered and v4 etc. were not covered apart from other models. there is no doubt in my mind, i being an engineer, that this is same issue that honda needs to expand it investigation to and recall/fix it. this is an extremely dangerous problem and we are blessed that our vehicle didn't stall on freeway, even though it stalled on surface street during commute hours and we were lucky to be not hit. i request nhtsa to review this issue immediately in interest of public safety and take appropriate action. i have also notified honda usa of this issue. awaiting a response.

Inboard passenger rear brake pad jammed and prematurely worn; driver side rear brake pads ok. calipers ok. . dealer had to replace both rear brake sets and resurface the rotors at my expense. dealer blamed "corrosion"; i blame a honda design defect in their braking system.

Excessive oil consumption, 5 quarts used in 6,000 miles.

The engine developed a loud knock during use. the knock was very loud when the car was idling. it is a v6 and had 104k miles. honda diagnosed the problem as the front camshaft lobe for cylinder 6 had significant wear and the camshaft had to be replaced. they would not accept responsibility by admitting the part was defective. the only way 1 lobe could deteriorate that much was if it had not been heat treated in the manufacturing process

While driving vehicle, the engine caught on fire and the engine compartment burned up. the fire department had to put out the fire...on a city street.

My accord has only 89000 miles and engine is burning engine oil almost 1 quart every 3 weeks. i have always took good care and change oil as soon as maintenance required(oil change) light comes on.

Door lock actuators have stopped locking and unlocking the doors on three of the fours doors of the car. i have to manually lock and unlock the drivers door with the key in order to lock it. the two rear passenger doors do not unlock via the interior unlock button on the driver side and must be manually unlocked and locked by flipping the door lock itself on each door. this is ridiculous for a car that is only 7 years old .. to have all three door affected is faulty equipment and not incorrect use. this has been happening for about 5 months but we initially thought it was the battery in the electronic keys. after replacing it and the problems continuing the car was brought in for diagnostics and we were told the 3 actuators needed to be replaced.

Accord v6 with variable cylinder management (vcm). at exactly 65,000 miles, in expressway rush hour traffic, immediate catastrophic power loss and check engine light comes on. tow to honda dealer. dealer receipt shows code p3400 found and dealer replaced rear oil pressure sensor. car owner suggests that an oil change might be in order due to event. once home, owner finds oil overfilled. this vehicle is part of class action engine misfire settlement. dealer did not report any other error codes, that is, those that are covered under the settlement. american honda has declined the owner's request to have the engine performance reviewed with the vehicle owner and an american honda regional service manager present.

Excessive oil consumption with early replacement of spark plugs in 2010 honda accord v6. all spark plugs were replaced around 65k miles due to an "computer issue" according to my local honda dealership. i was informed at the time that the warranty had been extended to cover the computer issue not an oil consumption issue. was also informed the issue was fixed. the oil is now changed every 3k miles (which differs from recommendations from honda to change the oil according to the maintenance minder varying between 4k and 5k miles) and having to add .5 to a full quart of oil every thousand miles. there have been no oil stains where i park on a regular basis, leading to believe it is not leaking but burning or being consumed. the check engine light has come on multiple times and usually pulls the code that a cylinder is misfiring. the oil light never comes on even when the oil barley reads on the dip stick. this has been an issue for over 2 years.

Engine makes a rattling sound on cold start, then disappears. this issue began after my previous oil change, performed by honda. on further investigation the sound is the caused by the vtc actuator. the honda technician confirmed that diagnostic, however, the dealership states that my vehicle isn't covered under the service bulletin a09-010 march 17, 2016 01607 version 4, to include 2008-2012 accord all trims and vin ranges. i was informed that although my vehicle meets those specifications, my vin is not covered under the warranty claim information, even though min is a pzev 15-150k miles power train vehicle. i reported the issue at 144,000 miles and if i wanted it repaired it would cost nearly $1900 parts and labor.

In february 2016 - our 2010 accord had repair procedure a completed to update pcm software referring to tsb 13-078 and replaced spark 1-4. starting in march of 2016 our accord started to excessively consume oil which we now know as (tsb #11-033).in december and march we replaced a bad pressure switch. in july we replaced both pressure switches again. honda admits that the car is excessively consuming oil but will not fix the problem because the software is not providing the correct codes.

Car consumes oil between oil changes. it will take 2-3 quarts of motor oil between servicing. found no oil leak. oil levels can drop really low and oil light indicator does not turn on. vehicle has a grinding noise for a few seconds on a cold start. vehicle computer was updated/programmed previously by honda to eliminate excess oil consumption. vehicle still has excessive oil consumption issue, as well as the low oil indicator failing to illuminate. oil light indicator can cause excessive damage to the engine if the oil level is low, because it fails to warn the driver when the oil level is low, especially since this vehicle has an excessive oil consumption issue. there have been numerous complaints about this issue and honda has failed to recall vehicles for this issue.

The interio passenger side air bag area is leaking when it rains. the vehicle has never been in a wreck. i've looked on the exterior area and unable to visibly see any defects that would allow rain/water into the interior area that is leaking. my concern is the water/rain will cause the side air bag to not function properly during a time of need.

Takata recall: my wife contacted the near by plaza honda dealer and honda itself asking for them to service the car for the airbag recall. my wife is pregnant and she is due in october. we do not want to use the car until it is serviced. they told us they could provide a rental car. we have called multiple times and everyone acts like we hadn't just spoken to them. we have no car we can use because of this unsafe car and if she needs medical attention or anything we will be forced to pay for other means of transportation. they should service our car immediately or give us a car to use until the car is serviced.

Right turn signal cancel is broken. it is not canceling the signal after finishing a right turn. i have to manually turn it off. if i forget to turn it off it might be misleading other drivers and could increase chances for a crash.

My car is burning 1.6 quarts of oil every 1,600 miles; the low oil pressure sensor does not come one. the only reason i know it is low is due to a noise that it makes. honda dealership says it is normal to burn 1.2 quarts of oil every 1,200 miles. this is my fifth honda and i have never had a car do this.

On february 10, 2017 the car horn sounded for approximately 10 minutes, and this repeated twice before 2 am. the car was in the driveway, and no one was near it. the key was on the table. the action was spontaneous. it stopped only when i unlocked the car door. when i started the car later in the morning at least four safety warnings appeared including "brakes" on the instrument panel. this behavior was confirmed by the dealer darcars honda in bowie maryland, where it was attributed to a fuse box which must be replaced. i am afraid to drive the car, even if it can be repaired, because of the car's safety warning.

My srs light came on and when i took it to honda of fishers in indiana i was told it would be a $100 just to run the diagnostics and since my specific model of car isn't under a current recall i would have to pay for any repairs needed out of pocket. this doesn't seem fair as my car should have a lifetime warranty on seat belts and related srs components. i would think they would at least provide a free diagnostics to make sure my airbags will work correctly as part of a safety matter. i found many 2010 accords were recalled but apparently my accord coupe wasn't.

My 2010 v4 honda accord is burning excessive amounts of oil. after doing the oil consumption test though honda, they determined that my engine burned 2.5 quarts of oil in approximately 5,100 miles. i believe that the amount is actually greater because they said that as long as it does not consume 1 quart per 1,000 miles that this is normal and they will not fix it. i know they have settled a class-action suit for the v6 model, but chose not to include the v4 models that have the same problem! how can it be normal to burn through more than half of the total amount of motor oil in between oil changes? i now have a car that has an engine that has not been properly lubricated for i am not sure how long because i purchased it used. i may be having to replace my engine before i am even half way through my loan. *tr

Humming sound coming from front of car. the sound increases with speed. went to the dealer and was told the left front wheel bearing is defective after 16000 miles. the problem occurs at highway speeds. i believe this is a safety issue and this problem could be wide spread.

I was driving as usual to work on i-405 with 55-60m/h speed and suddenly heard a blast, like somebody shot me through window. i was in such a shock that almost lost control of my steering. but somehow managed to stay in lane. as my office was pretty close, i decided to inspect what happened after reaching there. however, while driving to office, i continued to be scared and in trauma and could also hear air coming in the car. by the time i reached office i had a hint that something is wrong with my sunroof, or it is open. after coming out of my car in the office parking i saw this huge hole in the sunroof glass. and pieces of glass shattered in the sunroof flap. because of seattle's dark cloudy climate, i usually keep my sunroof flap open for some light to come into my luck, this morning it was closed. otherwise, my four months old almost lost her mother or i could be miserably hurt with tiny glass pieces. following day on saturday,12/31/2016, i called local honda service manager, and he said it will cost me $770 for fixing the sunroof. he said honda will not cover it because the sunroof glass had warranty limited to 3 years and 30,000miles which is expired. so, indirectly honda said, we will keep on supplying faulty sunroof glass. if it explodes within warranty period, we will at the least cover for it. and if your warranty is expired and you die because of it, we don't care. also, honda said that i cannot get sunroof glass fixed before tuesday, 1/3/2017 because they can't get the glass ordered before tuesday as everybody including honda are vacationing for new years. as there was snow storm warning on 12/31/2016 and my husband was out of town, i in severe cough and cold had to rush to nearest lowes with my 4 months old also coughing, to get a tarp and duct tape, so that i could seal the sunroof and protect the car's interiors. *tr

I took my car into the dealership, honda cars of columbia, for the air bag recall which was repaired. i informed them of excessive oil consumption and of error codes that appeared. they informed me that there was nothing they could do without engine light on. i called honda cars of america and after getting the run around, they told me that my vehicle was not covered under their campaign for excessive oil consumption and under engine misfire if the light came on again to take car to dealership and they would replace spark plugs 1-4 and update software. i have a v6. the car uses 2-4 qts between oil changes. all i'm asking for is to replace all spark plugs and update software. your help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

The stock stereo will make a popping electrical noise and the stereo will stop working. sounds like a person is banging on the trunk. if you turn the car off and back on the radio will work until the next episode. the radio stations usually stop before axillary jack. the cd player stopped working in 2018. never had these issues in my 2005 honda accord.

On a road trip to mass, check engine light blinks and car runs poorly. stop at the nearest honda, garber honda in rochester, ny. first made aware of recall. garber says repair is made and is covered under recall program. i was advised to return if problem comes back and told i had unlimited miles to do so. car continues to consume oil. i was unaware that the consumption was part of the extended warranty campaign regarding the number 2 cylinder. 26 october - 9 november 2018 check engine light starts to blink and car runs poorly. on the road i take it to the nearest honda, lia honda of williamsville, ny. number 2 plug fouled again. i was told the warranty campaign had ended and i had to bring in all the maintenance records to qualify for a “good will” repair. i fax and called northtown but records from previous years not available due to dealership buyout. i paid to have spark plug replaced. i spent 3 weeks exchanging emails with adrian bonsey at lia to resolve the issue. in my final follow up he mentions he had cleared the exchange of emails from his system. i go online and research the issue discovering the warranty campaign letter, a letter i had never been given before.i am unable to get my emissions done for the state of ny due to a nearly always on check engine light. i consume 2 - 3 quarts of oil between oil changes and foul out a plug every few months. i think honda owes me a repair since the previous repair did not resolve the known issue.

During a cold start, and car is stationarythe engine rattles for about 2 seconds. i have found out per the dealer, that this problem is caused by the vtc actuator. apparently this particular make and model has this problem. honda has always been aware of this problem and claims that the only remedy is to replace the actuator at a cost of around 900.00 dollars.however they claim that this may not even correct the problem. honda was aware of this defect announced a so called recall knowing that this recall would not correct the problem. it was strictly to cover their liability. i feel that honda should correct this problem for my 2010 honda accord at no cost to consumers. honda corporation was always aware of this defect and still continued to sell this particular model to consumers.

I was driving about 35-40 mph on a city street when a car in front had no lights in front of me was slowing down. i made impact with the car causing my head to hit the steering wheel knocking me out. my teeth were pushed in and three teeth had to be removed and my lip swelled up. if my airbag would of deployed i could of avoided these injuries.

Had to replace three ignition coils within about eight months. then, one of the ones had been replaced (#1 cylinder), developed a problem. mech tech informed/showed me that plug had fouled - due to possible piston ring problem. learned from cars.com that there was a problem with piston rings of 2008 - 2012 accords and honda had offered a special extended warranty to correct them. i was never notified by honda of this corrective action, ergo i missed the eight years and unlimited mileage from the original vehicle-in-service date deadline (car was purchased in june 2010). to replace the engine would cost more than the car is worth. national highway traffic safety administration at 888-327-4236. reference tsb no. 13-078. do i have any recourse at all? is there anything that i can do?

Takata recall..i've had a problem with the engine light flashing and vsa light. the first time it happened i was on busy i95 with my infant in the car needless to say i was afraid and i call honda immediately and took it to honda in de they said nothing was wrong, the second time it also happened on the road i returned to honda and they suggested that it was low on oil which was strange because i only get oil changes from honda, the third time it happened while driving on the highway i returned the car back to honda and they suggested that it was the engine and it was leaking oil and the cost would be $3500. this has happened to a few honda owners and i feel it should be recalled because this is a obvious problem with the oil leaking and engine and before there is a serious injury because of this problem it should be recalled immediately

Paint is peeling of my car

The car burns a lot of engine oil. there are no leaks, no issues but its burning so quickly that i have to put 1 liter of oil every 2000-3000 miles. the mechanics say its a factory issue as almost every car of 8th generation do that.

Takata recall. first honda recall letter in feb, 2018. "i-79" honda supposedly fixed the problem on march 5, 2018. second card-letter received may 20, 2018. i called the dealer (i-79 honda), and they said yes, inflator needed to be replaced (again!!). what's going on here???

Car is burning through oil much faster than normal. honda agreed that this is a known problem, but since it is not an official "recall" they did not inform customers. they refuse to cover the known problem since the 2010 accord was built in 2008, and the warranty covers 8 years.

Our engine suffered a massive engine failure due to high oil consumption issue. the car lost all of its oil and there was absolutely no indication of such situation. i opened a case with honda care, but as expected, they denied any responsibility even though these vehicles are impacted with such issue and the fact that i received a service bulletin. i will never buy another honda.

I have a broken airbag sensor wire under my front passenger seat. the wire broke on it's own from simply moving the seat for my daughter to get in the back seat. honda wants over $400 to replace this and claims the wire looks to have been cut. however i am the only owner of this vehicle & never cut this wire. i took the car tp another auto shop who gave me their opinion the wire simply broke thru normal use. i believe honda needs to repair this at no cost as it's a safety concern & now the airbag light stays lit up at all times & i don't know if the airbags will work in an accident. i contacted honda again today about this & even with the opinion of an auto shop they are saying they can't help since the vehicle isn't under warranty.

Vehicle is a 2010 honda accord coupe, v6 ex-l, manual transmission. 6/28/17: when started the vehicle after an appointment, the electrical warning lights appeared on the dash. called mechanic to seek guidance. about half where there, the car filled with a loud hum sound, then abruptly went away. warning lights on the dashboard turned off. took car to the mechanic anyway. alternator was failing. replaced alternator at 60,665 miles. 9/7/17: took car to local mechanic due to persistent rocking noise that was coming from under the front side of the car when slowing/braking. informed of a significant issue that could cause loss of steering at anytime due to a crack in the steering rack and pinon assembly. replaced steering rack and pinon, outer tie rod ends and the motor mount by the drive belt area at 62,201 miles. additional part ordered to complete the work torsion arm bushings) was ordered 9/8/17. instructed to return with vehicle when for later install. 9/29/17: returned vehicle to local mechanic who installed torsion arm bushings. during this work, they noticed that the lower control arm bushings were badly cracked on both ends (pictures attached) which were replaced at 62.855 miles.

Takata inflators: people; how long has this been a problem? it's at least two years old and i just got notification this past saturday, february 24, 2018. this has been a serious safety problem and i am totally upset in first believing my car was not affected by the recall, and now this. does honda realize how many miles i've driven with my wife in the passenger seat, subjected to the possibility of this inflator blowing up? why? i want to know why it took so long for honda to get around to my vehicle? why???? i have been encouraged to make an appt. asap online with any dealer. they don't take online service scheduling for this recall.t this recall is campaign # bok, if that helps you.

The car jolts when put into gear and when transmission shifts between gears. feels like the car is going to stall during transmission shifts during acceleration/deceleration. the check engine light is on and d light is blinking. required the engine wiring harness and drivers under dash fuse box to be replaced. honda says the car is not included in recall for this even though honda has a recall for potential failure with the engine wiring harness connector for the 2010 accord. *js

I bought used honda accord in 2015. after that, i spent 2 times to replace the brake pads in around 30,000 miles and 1 time i spent for rotor. i emailed honda about it and i also understand it's about almost 8 years but whenever there was a recall for the brake pads they suppose to change the whole braking system.now i have a question of keeping or selling the car & if i have to sell the car ( if i am selling it nobody will buy it or i have to tell that person there is nothing wrong with the car. ) another question is honda is making a mistake i also read about a lawsuit regarding that and there was a settlement but now all the users have to pay around $80 -$100 for every 15,000 to 20,000 miles. i also sent email to honda that if you want to make sure about the brakes i am ready to out the car. or just accept that honda had made cheap technology in the past, so in future, i would rather go for toyota. the incident didn't happen suddenly and my mechanic also informed me last year this is the problem with honda and i didn't believe him and now i am about to spend money for the third time and i finally decided to search the reason for that.

Roof moulding prematurely wearing out/damage. allowing water to seep into seams into headliner near a-beams of passenger and driver side. water also dripped from headliner and stained it, potentially distracting driver from road. side airbags potentially exposed to water. problem was discovered after car was left outside during rain storm allowing water to pool on roof.

Excessive oil burning - vehicle has less than 100k miles is burning oil. no dipstick reading for oil in engine (for every 3,000 miles driven). car pings and no or little power from engine due to oil loss. dealer test stated 1/2qt of oil used every 1,000 miles. typical honda oil change is every, 7,500 miles (per their manual) - if waited that long no oil would be in engine. dangerous and significant issue - honda stated it will not fix and stated 1/2 qt of oil burned every 1,000 miles is not excessive or significant !! - from a car owner, it is very significant. compound this with the months and months wait for the takata recall for air bags issue - the honda 2010 crv has significant issues. i have a co-worker that has a 2010 acura with 300,000 miles and oil loss issues.

Airbag sign is always on even if no passenger or any object on the passenger side . the sign comes on when the driver is seated and the door is locked both in stationary and in motion.

Excessive oil consumption, the car is burning 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. the accord oil change guide per the owners manual is an oil change every 7000 miles. i was driving the car with no oil on the dipstick which is a danger of full engine failure on the road. honda tested the vehicle and has evidence of the excessive oil consumption. they settled a class action lawsuit agreeing to extend the engine warranty and perform repairs. the dealer stated that v6 engines are not covered in the the technical bulletin issued by honda. i clearly see v6 as being impacted and listed in the class action lawsuit. the dealer instructed me to contact corporate which is my next step.

Since december, 2016 the engine has been using excessive oil. i have regularly scheduled oil changes every 5,000 miles (synthetic). on 7/13/17 the oil was changed but i was told that the engine oil was very low. it was changed again on 12/21/17 with less than 4,000 miles since the last change. again the check engine light was on. this problem is definitely getting worse.

While driving my car, i re-positioned the driver side sun visor so that it would cover the drivere side window. during the re-position, the visor detached itself from the car. the visor would not go back into the socket, so i had no other choice but clip the right side of the visor into it's socket and allow the left side of the visor to hang. i had to hunch down for the remainder of my commute in order to have full visibility while driving. once parked, i was able to work with the visor for several minutes to get it back into the socket. the visor cannot be pivoted to the left driver side, it falls every time.the visor can only remain parked or unfolded without detaching itself from the car. i face the sun during my commute to and from work, so not having full access to my visor is troublesome for my vision. i took my car in for an oil change and the dealer said, "it seems fine to me." the problem still exists. i am reluctant to pivot the visor to take a photo because it takes so long to get it back into the socket.

The airbag symbol keeps coming on and going off. it does not stay consistently but it annoying enough to know that something is defective or not working properly. picture attached.

While driving the odometer shows a warning that the fuel cap is not sealed i can clear the warning by changing the odometer setting but it reappears shortly thereafter. this is sometimes accompanied by a check engine light. took car to honda dealer who reported that the check engine light was from the fuel cap warning. they replaced the fuel cap but less than a day later(approx. 50 mi.) the warning has reappeared

I was driving to work on the sam houston tollway going about 70 miles (with the flow of traffic) in 65 degree weather when i heard a loud sound like an explosion. i could not pull over where i was so i continued to drive. i heard the wind like you would if your windows were down a bit. i pulled the opening of the sunroof (the cover that is inside the car) and i heard the glass. i shut it immediately and drove to work. upon arriving at work i inspected the sunroof and found no debris that would indicate something had struck my car. i called my husband and he had researched this and saw the article that brought me here to your website.

The srs light has been on in my car for 4 months. i have received a recall notice but the dealer states it is not related to the srs light being on. however, i've been told my airbags won't deploy if i am in an accident.

The steering rack (rack and pinion steering) assembly broke on my vehicle. the steel bar used to make this part should not be able to be broken let alone in the manner that it did. it sheared and there was no warning when it happened. it wasn’t hit or under extreme strain. i am highly concerened this may be a serious safety issue for others in the future. thankfully i was not traveling at a high rate of speed when it broke. please look into this issue.

Within the last year when my car is first started it grinds when the key is turned. like it is not being turned all the way or being held too long but it isn’t. does not happen after the first start and doesn’t happen every time. seems to be worse when it is cold.

All 4 of my lock actuators have gone out in about a 6 year period of time. they went out individually approximately a year apart. the problem started within the first 3 years of owning the car and should have been covered under the warranty. honda did cover the first but refused to cover the other 4. i️ had asked to to have all of them replaced initially and was told no. honda obviously bought a batch of bad lock actuators. i have owned 8 honda’s over the last 35 years and have never had a single lock actuator go out in any honda i️ have ever owned.

My vehicle engine rpm's raises as much as 500 to 700 more than idle, when moving at slow speeds of 10 mph or stopped. had it checked by sunny king honda in oxford alabama, they said it could be the pcm which is under recall for this type of vehicle for ones made prior to sept 2010. my vehicle was made in december 2010. this happens all the time and cause the vehicle to speed up when moving at slow or stopped speed. just wondering if this had been reported by anyone else. also vehicle makes a loud noise when you crank it up. it has done this since i got the car back in august 2017

My 2010 honda accord ex is burning oil excessively. i am required to add about 2 quarts of oil in between oil changes up to 5 times. there is an extended warranty recall add for this problem but the dealership says my car does not qualify. the extended warranty recall states that 2010 honda accord's qualify, but they will not replace the piston rings.

A grinding noise when vehicle cold starts started over a week ago and excessive oil consumption over the past few months. was told by honda dealership that it may cost up to $600 to get the vtc actuator fixed but after doing research found this is a common problem for the 2008-2012 accords. why should i pay for a known issue by the manufacturer. ive always been a advocate for honda vehicles but this is unacceptable and a recall needs to be made to fix this and the pistons leading to the excessive oil consumption. i will be fighting this with the dealership on this cost to get it fixed and im highly disappointed in the findings about this issue.

Excessive oil consumption. the car began grinding and had no oil registered on the dipstick after 1000 miles following an oil change. this happened multiple times despite using high mileage oil and getting oil changes more frequently than recommended,

I was unable to open the rear passenger side door, even after unlocking the door. this could be an extreme safety hazard in the event of a crash, should emergency responders need to gain immediate access to the car and a passenger was unresponsive. the power door lock actuator failed, which causes the door lock to stay engaged even after unlocking the car using the remote fob and using the power lock button on the door. the only way to unlock the door is to manually flip the interior door lock switch. this is the second power door lock actuator to fail, and my car has less than 93,000 miles on it. the power door locks should last the life of the car, and doors that stay locked are an extreme safety hazard. honda charges $298, per actuator, making complete repair close to $1,200. my guess is most people would choose to live with the issue rather than pay the high repair cost, but they don't think about what could happen if they are unresponsive, the car is in flames, and the doors won't open from the outside. i spoke with honda corporate about the issue, and they provided no response. they just said "we document your call." very frustrating.

Takata recall: i received the takata air bag recall notice in the mail over 40 days after it was issued. the parts will not be available until fall of 2016. the remedy honda provided is to "not have a passenger sit in the front seat." this is insane. how is this possible? someone has been siting in my front seat for the past 40 days before i received the recall and now my car is basically inoperable for passengers for the next 3-6 months? this is not a sufficient remedy of a products completed mistake by honda. we should be provided rental cars and rental reimbursement until the cars are fixed. i have already called honda's customer support number and was told i would get a call by a "case manager" in three days. this is extremely disappointing and completely dangerous. the recall verbatim lists " metal fragments could pass through the airbag causing injury to the passenger". well why wouldn't those fragments hurt someone in the backseat or come over to the driver side? honda is basically saying if you get in a car crash and your airbag deploys you are going to get hurt. please help honda be accountable for this grievance.

The angle of the headrest causes my head to look down. i cant sit straight!!!!!!!! it causes neck and back pain on longer trips!!!!!!

Since oil change in april 2016, needed to add 3 1/3 qts of oil in less than 4k miles. no oil is dripping from car; no indicator light showing oil low. took to get diagnosis of problem and no problem was found. currently getting an oil consumption test with honda so that we can get extended warranty.

Burning oil excessively since i have had the car. i never got a recall notice. having to add a qt or better a week. june 12 it stalled out all the way home from work. that was a sunday. just checked the oil on thursday. oil was okay in thursday. on sunday no oil to show on dipstick. burnt at least 3 qts in less than 200 miles! drained what little oil was left. changed filter and put new oil in. still would not run. changed spark plugs and it ran better but still has a slight mis. dtc p0303. the dealership deleted the code and said it wasn't a code in there. will not do anything. i had it read before i took it there and have a picture of it. the paint has been chipping off for over a year, not where rocks hit. places that are curved or rounded. edges of the roof or fender. it's only 6 years old. honda doesn't stand by either of these issues. never again will i own a honda. the car is not leaking oil and it is not smoking. the oil is going some place. and that is causing serious damage to my car. not to mention the damage that's already been caused. a software update doesn't fix the damage that's been caused already.

6/9/15, and 5/20/16--honda replaced rt front axle ist time 5/20/16 taking it in for exact same reason??!! no accidents or trauma, shook bad. noticed on line others with a crosstour has had this same problem. shaking on freeways when slowdown especially. if i need replacement-it should be covered but what is causing this within a year???? scary. this must be looked into as a recall-i have had many cars never ever an axel problem ever on even older cars.

Three months after i bought the honda, the tpms light came on, and when i called the service dept. at the dealership where i bought it, they told me it was the change in temperature and i should just "drive around the block" until it goes out. it did go out, but seven months later the tpms light came on again. i again called the dealership and they said to bring it in, and it would be fixed at no charge. however, when i brought it in, i was told i'd have to pay $240 because the sensor was bad. having researched the issue, i see there have been many complaints about this sensor problem, that honda knows about it, that they lied to me about "driving around the block." then they lied again, telling me they would fix it at no charge.

My 2010 honda accord has had a check engine light for a p0420 code at 110k miles. for someone that knows something about cars, a catalytic converter should not be going out this soon. as i read numerous forums and articles online, many others have reported the same issues with their 8th generation accord, yet honda has not been told to issue a recall. obviously these converters were poorly made and it is going to cost nearly 1000$ to fix this.

Car was bought 2 years old, breaks started to make a scratching noise in 2014 and got progressively worse. we brought it to the honda dealer where we bought the car, they sucked us in and made us pay over $1,000 for new breaks, rotors, calipers etc. april 2016 the car was started one morning, immediately the noise i heard in 2014 i heard again but much worse. the noise happened when the car was idling. we brought the car to a local mechanic, this mechanic told me i needed new breaks, rotors, calipers etc. the same problem that i had in 2014. the dealer knew about these honda's having a break issue, wondering why my dealer did not mention this.

While driving on 414 maitland, out of no where i heard a loud "pow!" though i didn't feel like it, i thought a bird or meteorite or street light cover had fallen from the sky and landed on my vehicle. i looked in the rear view mirror and saw a black square object fall from the sky and the car behind swerve out of its way. at that point i could hear small pieces of something bouncing around in the pocket between the moon roof and the cover, and rolling on, over and off of the my car. i pulled over to investigate the matter more thoroughly, expecting to see a dead bird, blood & feathers, or a rock, or a street light cover sitting in the area where my moon roof glass use to be, instead i found a huge gaping hole(approx. 12" x 17" in the middle of my moon rood and the remainder of the glass around the perimeter of the hole arched like a hill. i determined that the "pow!" i heard was the glass exploding, and the black piece of something that was falling from the sky in my rear view was the portion of glass. i it was cloudy and looked like it might ran, so i immediately went to the nearest shop (publix) and bought a box of 2 mil contractor garage bags, some shipping tape and taped one of the bags of the top of the vehicle. i then retraced my path i the interstate to make sure that something didn't fall from the sky and that the glass had in fact exploded. i found nothing, except the shards of glass that was once my moon roof. i then went home, parked the car and began research "exploding moon roof". come to find out this is not an alien occurrence and specifically with this manufacturer, year, make & model. https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=171365 http://www.carcomplaints.com/honda/accord/2010/windows_windshield/shattered-exploded_sunroof.shtml http://www.crvownersclub.com/forums/14-problems-issues/16323-2010-exploding-sunroof.html

Received notice from honda stating engine warranty extended to 120k miles due to oil consumption, attempted to have vehicle service for oil consumption tests at local dealer (mistlin honda, modesto ca.) was denied by service writer due to not having a check engine light on, i asked why would an engine light go on if i keep topping off oil between oil changes (1-2 quarts) he stated unfortunately he couldn't service it with out a light being on. to my understanding i don't see how a check engine light will be activated if engine is burning oil, unless the engine has gotten damaged due to not having any oil.

Engine buring oil - piston rings need replaced, also vtc actuator, timing chain, tensioner and guide. 2nd time with issue - not resolved 1st time.

I am having an oil consumption problem at least 3 quarts in between oil changes this has been getting worse and started almost immediately after purchase. this past february it started missing and i had a loss of power while on the highway on the way to work. i took it in and the honda dealership replaced four fouled spark plugs and said if it happened again they would replace the rings in the engine, in total i will have taken the car to the honda dealership 6 times for this problem and i am getting very tired of taking it in so they can tell me that they fixed the problem. with the loss of power i could have been in a serious accident and i am concerned about the engine failing every time i drive the car. i would consider this car unsafe because it could fail at anytime and leave me stranded or worse it could fail when i am pulling into traffic or merging onto a highway.

High consumption of oil. this problem is additional to the cold start problem noise. i received a letter about this extending the warrantee to 125,000 miles. i am going tomorrow to get my car serviced. i am going to report this to them and see what they say.

Moon roof exploded while driving on hwy 15 in 65 degree weather here in san diego. sounded like a loud explosion. no cars were close to me. only the moon roof was affected, no other damage to the car roof or elsewhere. car only has 75,000. i am the original owner. !st all of my door lock failed, no this!!

Cold start rattle due to vtc actuator failure.

My car burns too much oil between oil changes. i have contacted honda and vehicle checked out 5 times now for the problem, the dealership told me that for my vehicle to get fixed in the oil consumption class action suit it had to have the check engine light come on twice, etc. i have a problem with this the 1st time the light came on i lost about 50% of the power of the vehicle when i was travelling on a very busy highway, i had to change lanes and slow down because i couldn't keep up and my vehicle was shaking so badly. it turns out that my oil consumption problem had fouled the spark plugs and caused them to stop firing which means i lost the power of the cylinders that had the fouled spark plugs. now they want me to wait till it happens again before they will repair the engine and follow the class action that they agreed to follow. what would happen if i was pulling into traffic and lost 50% of my power or am merging onto an interstate. this is a dangerous situation and they know the problem exist, but won't fix it in a timely manner. i am concerned about driving the vehicle.

My accord oil light illuminated on and off when there was 40% oil remaining, and therefore, i took my vehicle into fletcher jones honda, which is where i regularly go for routine maintenance service. then i received horrific news concerning the life of my vehicle, which is in need of a brand new 3.5-liter vtec v6 engine, which will costs $12,372.87. this was especially alarming news because, my vehicle is only six years old and i've only have honda to service it. also, it was recommended that the following maintenance is performed: timing belt replacement $565.39; clutch assembly $2,019.86; spark plugs replacement $209.52 and syn power (efi service/fuel injection cleaning service $159.95,which brings my out of pocket costs to $15,327.59.

I received a letter from honda stating that my car may have a defect in the pistons, and/or piston rings that causes excessive oil usage. as a result of this honda would diagnose and repair the problem but only up to 125,000 miles. at the time i received the letter my car had 150,000 miles. i have noticed excessive oil usage in my 2010 honda accord when compared to my 2004 honda accord with the same 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine. the 2010 requires oil frequently but the 2004 rarely requires oil between oil changes. i called honda of america on 2 separate occasions and spoke to 3 different people after i asked for my case to be escalated to a higher level. they have refused to do anything for me. my opinion is that no manufacturer should be able to shirk their duty to repair or replace a known defect. especially when i have evidence that shows their arbitrary choice of extending the engine warranty to 125,000 miles is nonsense. my 2004 accord has more miles than the 2010 but doesn't require oil between oil changes. that tells me that the 2010 with fewer miles may suffer from this known defect that honda has a responsibility to repair regardless of the miles on the car.

On 3/18/15 i took our 2010 honda accord with 28,037 miles to suburban honda in farmington hills,mi for a oil change,the service manager notified me that the driver side rear pads have worn out to the point of wearing out the rotor beyond turning to repair,and i need a new caliper that as we know must be replaced in pairs. his price for repairs was $1027.60 + tax =$1089.26 i took the vehicle to my neighborhood auto repair facility and had all new pads,rotors and calipers replaced for $650.04 this costly expense at this low mileage of a brand new vehicle is completely unacceptable,how many other trusting customers bought this vehicle and had the same or similar rear brake fail as well. at the least honda should reimburse us for all of the repairs. at 28,049 miles both front tires had to be replaced do to premature ware

When starting the car at a cold start, you hear a loud grinding noise sounds for 2 or 5 seconds. there is a tsb 09-010 regarding a vtc actuator that drains of oil and is not properly lubed when starting the engine cold, causing the grinding noise until oil reaches the part again but honda refuses a recall although there have been numerous complaints about this issue.

Excessive oil consumption, causing plugs to foul and damaging coil packs. this has happened twice in the last 12 months.

Paint started to chip and in the last 2 months has gotten progressively worse. honda has been contacted and will be taking the veh to the dealership to see what they say

Supplemental restraint system indicator was blinking on and off, now it stays on all the time. dealer said that the srs computer was not communication with the resistant system and the first step is to change the srs computer. if that doesn't work, the next steps are to replace the airbag senors in the seat or any sensor in that supplemental restraint system. the initial cost to replace the srs computer is $746.28. dealer said this is a safety issue. repair scheduled for 21-oct-2015. the problem started on 10-oct-2015.

Every time you press accelerator after a stop, the power door locks click and will keep locking/unlocking the doors while driving. this could be dangerous with kids in the car. plus it is very annoying while driving. just purchased this vehicle one day ago. i have read where many honda accord owners are experiencing the same problem.

2010 accord was parked in the emergency lane off i-40 near kingman, az when it was sideswiped by a intl tractor trail traveling at approximately 75-80 mph. airbags did not inflate, but exploded into driver. car was considered totaled by insurance company and driver has permanent neck injuries for life.

Oil light started coming on at that point. my car wasnt due for an oil change. was hearing the pistons in the engine when i would start driving the car. i checked oil and it showed no oil. i would have to put in 2 to 3 quarts of oil. this has been happening and is still occuring to this day 2015. i have mentioned this to dealer and they claimed nothing is wrong. i just received a warranty extension from honda and i am just about close to the 125,00 mileage that they extended the warranty to. it is a shame that they are contacting me about this years later.

When driving on the freeway on my way to work the check engine light came on. after exiting i checked for error codes (as i always carry the p-code reader with me). the code stated that cylinder 3 was misfiring. i double checked all spark plugs to make sure the connections were okay. the engine light continued to come on, with a rough idle, and engine codes started to be more spontaneous as it stated random misfires/multiple cylinder misfires. i took my car to honda and was told that i likely need to replace the ignition coil, so i did that and still experienced the same problem. i then took it to a shop where they also suspected bad ignition coils. they then did a valve adjustment and was positive that would fix the problem. after performing that job, the car continued with the same rough idle but only populated the error code stating cylinder 3 is misfiring. they took out the spark plug and ignition coil on cylinder 3 and discovered a cracked intake valve. i've spoken to at least 10 shops, 2 honda service dealerships, and 2 personal mechanic friends that all state that a broken intake valve at 107k is very unusual and likely a result of poor design. i have read about the class action lawsuit for all v6 honda accords between 2008-2012. unfortunately the 2010 v6 6 mt is one of the few models left out of that law suit. i have already had a shop start on the repairs as i have no choice but to have them done asap. i figure an unlikely event like this is due to poor engine design since i have thoroughly kept up with all scheduled maintenance (spark plugs, timing belt, water pump, oil change, etc..). i feel that honda should be responsible for this 2000$ dollar repair.

I am in a dilemma pertaining to my 2010 honda accord. i live in canada but i purchased a demo model from united states. during the last five years i had four incidents of unintended acceleration while braking. as i was slowing down at traffic lights or stop sign, the car suddenly goes into unintended acceleration with rpm running over 4500. i continued to press on the brake and changed the gear to neutral. the car continued to rev at high speed despite not pressing on any pedals, and the only way to stop it was to switch off the engine while the car is in neutral and then switch it on again after putting the car in p gear. i am 100 % certain that these incidents are not related to driver error as it has happened four times. i phoned american honda and honda canada and both brushed me off and denied ever hearing about it. they advised me to take it to the dealer. it would be very difficult to isolate this fault as it rarely happens (4 times in five years).i am worried about the safety of my family especially if my wife or my daughters are driving. i will be grateful if you can let me if other drivers have reported a similar incident for honda automobile. i also need some advice on how i can resolve this. is this a software problem?

The past two times i have brought the car in for an oil change i have been told that the oil level is below the dipstick. both times i have brought the car in for an oil change with 20% oil life showing. shifting from 2nd to 3rd sometimes gets "blocked". that is the only way i can describe it, you go to shift and cant get into gear, either have to go back to 2nd or back to neutral and then back in. the "double pump shift" usually works. i have also had a problem with the speaker deck rattling which i had supposedly fixed under warranty but only to have the same problem.

I have had to change my rotors brakes and calipers 4 times since last august. i just changed the rotors and brakes for the 3rd about 3 months ago and they are grinding again. i went out for lunch and when i get back to work i hear a grinding. i get to work and look and its on the rotor. this is ridiculous, i do not know what else to do. mind you in october on a road trip the caliper malfunctioned and i had to drive with the brake clamped down on the rotor. cost me $850 to fix! this is ridiculous

During a recent inspection, i was told that my brakes barely passed and would only last approximately another 3,000 miles. i have 17,000 miles on my honda! i inherited this car last year from my uncle who passed. he purchased the car new in 2010 and put less than 4,000 miles on it in 4 years. i heard there was a problem with the brakes of certain years on accords, including the one i have. i was also told that honda would fix this as a courtesy to owners because there were so many complaints. in 2015, this is no longer an option. at no point has honda recalled the vehicle. how can they get away with putting such cheap products on a vehicle that costs more than 30k? this is a lawsuit waiting to happen. i will fight this and make such a big stink until this problem is cleared. at no point should i have to pay to replace brakes at 17,000 miles. this is absurd. what can i do at this point?

Seat belt warning light came on. i took the car to herb chambers, seekonk, ma, and they said it was the safety harness that needed replacement. they said that they would have to order the part as there was a shortage of these parts available. it would take a couple of weeks to get the part. it has been approximately three months and i still have not heard from them.

Since changing the brakes at 55000 miles...i have had nothing but problems. rotors were fine but i have had to take it in 3 times for wobbling in the front ...they have machined the rotors changed break pads...done everything and it continues to wobble....checked tie rods? everything imaginable and still having issues....they claim the brakes are getting hot....well that is a bunch of bull as i have lived in az with hondas for my whole life...this is my 4th brand new one.....never problems like this. *tr

In late may 2014 i had the brakes (pads/rotors) replaced on my 2010 honda accord, 2 months later in august, i had brake problems again, - rotors were warped again, managed to get them covered under warranty, - 2 months later 10/31 more brake issues so took them to the dealer (so no after market parts), rotors warped, recommended replacement of rotors and pads, - done, 2 months later in december 2014 back to the dealer (now i've pad for them 2x in 6 months)- replaced the front rotors because they were warped, now, 2 months later in february - back to the dealer again for the 3rd time (1s 2 were not a dealer). this time they were warped, but not as bad - so they machined the rotors because this time i went early, when i first stated noticing it. no one figures out why... so, in total, my brakes have been worked on 5 times in 8 months. the dealer said they had a honda corporate rep take the car for a ride, they were advised there was not a brake problem. but that ride was not till after they machined the rotors, of course there would be no problem - this totally has no logic to even have that done! how many times do i have to have them replaced - under warranty or not, and how much time and money do i have to waste, and before someone tries to figure out why the car is going thru brakes- maybe getting in an accident? in addition to these ongoing brake issue, i've already had to have the 3 pistons rebuilt (under a recall , but i had to fight with the misfire problem for 4 months before they would do anything) and the steering rack replaced (thank god i had 100 miles left on my extended warranty). *tr

Purchased vehicle 5/8/2014. driving home and i called my husband and stated that the car sounded like crap--wasn't shifting correctly and just had a horrible sound coming from engine. he stated we will check oil and transmission fluid when you get home. to find no oil or transmission on either. we immediately contacted dealer we purchased from and we had it towed there for attention. car dealer changed oil(which wasn't much) and transmission fluid were "fine". passing the buck! we continued to keep an eye on it to find we are putting quarts of oil in it. it has had 3 oil changes in less than 6 months and not due to mileage---due to each place we took it to-dealer-changed oil, jiffy lube-changed oil-honda-changed oil and started "oil consumption" test. i have checked oil in my cars, since i was 16 years old. honda stating "it's normal"--it's not normal to have to keep adding oil to your car between one oil change to another, due to mileage only. you can visually see oil everywhere on the engine block and laying on other components of the engine. fix the car!!!!!! *tr

It was a cold winter morning, 9 degrees to be exact. i'm in the car with my 2yr old daughter. i pull out of the parking spot, i make it 50 feet and the brakes begin to fail. im pumping the brake to slow down due to a car in the middle of the road at a stand still. i hit the brakes a second and third time i glimpse down wondering why is the car not slowing down or stopping i continue stomping onto the brake. i started to scream in realization that this is happening. i collide into the back of the car that was at a stand still. the worst experience of my life. i was not even a full 2 blocks away from my home i could not comprehend how my brakes just failed after i repeatedly pressed down on them. please investigate this who knows how many people experienced this. i crossed an intersection when this happened, thank god i had the green light and there was no one crossing. the 2 people in the car i collided into were also fine. *tr

Excessive oil consumption. i am putting 1-2 quarts oil every 3000 miles, even though the oil life indicates 80% or better. i bought this car new and just noticed this about 9 months ago. the oil is not leaking, it is just gone. also when i start the car first thing in the morning or when is cold, the top of the engine makes a rattling noise. there is also a loud pronounced noise that sounds like it is either the engine or the transmission, something doesn't sound right. i am taking it to the dealer to have it checked out. *tr

We purchased our vehicle at honolulu, hi, honda pfluger (now pacific honda). with the proper maintenance, the vehicle has been performing satisfactorily until now. only minor defects were noted, such as battery replacement within the 3-years or 36,000 miles warranty. on 01/08/15, we took our vehicle to the closest honda dealer in austin, tx, because, for the last three weeks, when the vehicle has sat for a while, the breaks will not work when backing up: the peddle goes about halfway down and sticks, will not go back nor down, and the hand break had to be pulled up to stop the vehicle. in order to have the vehicle tested, we left our vehicle at howdy honda. the next day, the maintenance consultant informed us that the break master cylinder was leaking into the booster, and that a complete replacement of such part would be necessary. the cost of the repair would be $946.00, plus taxes, because the part was not covered by the vehicle?s warranty. on the honda warranty booklet, the aforementioned part is not included in the list of non-covered parts (page 9); the malfunction has not been caused by the improper use of our car: we have never used it for business or unusual sport or other activities; the master cylinder is the original part installed by honda; and no third-party technician has ever attempted to repair it. the defect in the master cylinder and booster is very unusual; almost any 2010 honda accord with 31,409 miles shows this kind of issue. hence, we strongly believe that the master cylinder malfunction is a case of a part that is defective in material or workmanship under normal use. furthermore, the above described part malfunction represents an enormous safety issue that could have caused an accident which potential personal, physical, and psychological damages against us and third parties. the car is inoperative in its current condition. *tr

When starting the car at a cold start, you hear a loud grinding noise sounds for 2 or 5 seconds. there is a tsb 09-010 regarding a vtc actuator that drains of oil and is not properly lubed when starting the engine cold, causing the grinding noise until oil reaches the part again. grinding noises in an engine are bad, and could lead to catastrophic engine failure should the abrasive metallic parts (due to grinding when there is no oil in the actuator) becoming lodged. this engine failure could happen at any time, possibly in a highway lane. while my car engine has not yet seized, there are online reports of this happening. currently, honda will only fix this issue under warranty. they also give the car owner a really hard time proving the issue, requiring the car be left at a dealership overnight to replicate the problem. a loaner vehicle is at your expense. if the car is not under warranty, this expensive repair bill is at your expense. if your car is under warranty and they are not able to replicate the noise, both the loaner car and diagnostic fee are at your expense. this greatly reduces the number of people willing and able to have this important safety issue fixed. running engine components without oil should be a recall. it is clearly a safety issue that can cause other problems with your engine. if the engine stalls unexpectedly, it could lead to death. *tr

I purchased my 2010 honda accord new 2/2010. i've completed all the necessary maintenance requirements & get my oil changed every 3 months despite what honda recommends. after hearing a mild grinding sound in the passenger rear tire, i thought it was some dirt/pebble. to my surprise, my mechanic told me my rear brakes were worn down & needed to be replaced at 35,000 mi. my mechanic said he had similar experiences w/ other honda customers. i replaced the rear brake pads w/ aftermarket brake pads because my mechanic believed they were superior to the honda brake pads. the front brakes have 80% life. i've never had to replace my brakes on my previous cars w/ mileage under 55,000. i started my research on the internet afterwards & found the 2010 honda class-action law suit regarding the rear brakes on specific yrs of the honda accord. honda was not required to issue a recall on the rear brakes. honda accord brake pads should last up to 70,000 miles. unfortunately the repair deadline & eligibility included brake pads replaced with honda brake pads & installation of those brake pads within 3 yrs of when the car was first sold. i've owned my accord for 4 yrs & i replaced the brake pads w/ aftermarket pads. since i have little recourse other than to write honda or go to the local service dept, i opted to share my experience w/ other consumers, rather then remain silent & frustrated. i doubt i'll make any progress w/ contacting honda. i truly enjoy my honda accord & its performance. i am extremely disappointed w/ honda & their lack of commitment to customer satisfaction & resolving an inferior part issue that is clearly their responsibility as noted w/ all the online customer documentation. honda has forced their customers to pay for their mistake, refusing to take ownership of a costly, extremely, premature automotive repair. *tr

I found that honda accord has recalls. i got my oil change in april/may - 2013 for my honda accord and honda dealer found everything good and brakes were close to 8 (on the brake measuring scale) on all the wheels. in just 2 months, the rear brake started making noise and then i came across the honda accord brake recall issue. now i have got the repair done and sent the details to honda. honda is denying the reimbursement saying that my car does not fall in the recall category (they have selected some vins which meets those conditions). my question is how honda can decide which vins have the problems and which does not have until people report them. anyway, i am very unhappy with honda about not reimbursing this repair cost. *tr

I started noticing right leg pain/numbness while driving my ,new to me, 2010 honda accord ex home from the dealership. i thought i just didn't have my seat adjusted properly. the pain became much worse over the next few weeks, affecting both legs and left hip, but i thought it was still just me until i researched it. the real pain began after a 3 hour trip. the pain was so severe the next morning that i could barely walk and couldn't get out of pain. my doctor ordered an x-ray and then a bone scan to see if there was a fracture. the tests showed a condition called spondylolisthesis where the l4 vertebra was pushed forward on the l5 vertebra causing an impingement of the nerves that supply the legs. i contacted the dealership and they told me that my only recourse was to trade the car in on another vehicle(at a great loss to me). i haven't driven the car since. i've been to a doctor, a spinal specialist and am still getting physical therapy to address the pain and haven't driven the car in 2 months. i know the seat can be taken apart and plates removed to make it possible for me to drive it but that disables the safety features of the car. these seats would cause permanent damage to me if i continued to drive the car, if they haven't already, i have never had any issues with a car seat before. these seats are not just uncomfortable they are dangerous and need to be recalled. i have been a loyal honda customer and would only consider buying a honda. the seats in my other hondas were wonderful. i'm so disappointed that honda won't fix this issue. *tr

Highway speed vibration at various intensities, mostly at speeds over 60. car shakes and vibrates. honda dealership evaluated situation and noted no problems with suspension, replaced front and side motor mounts without solving problem. factory tech stated these problems have been evaluated as "bad tires". car had problem with prior tires and current tires had less than 2,000 miles on them. tires were rebalanced, aligned and rotated - no improvement. same problem with second car (same make/model 2008). internet searching indicates this is a problem with 2008 through at least 2012 vehicles. dealer tried to test the tire issue by swapping tires from another used vehicle on the lot. they test drove 3 vehicles to find one but all three had the same vibration issue. i think there is a design issue with this model and the problem is being ignored by honda (must be a huge issue and/or a very expensive fix). i have seen statements that this is a "characteristic of this vehicle" and noted other similar explanations. in my mind this is a safety issue. it is very distracting to experience serious vibrations at high speeds. it is also unsafe to be driving on high speed roads at lower speeds to avoid the issue. *tr

Had an experience with unintentional acceleration. on my way to work, coming around 10 west to 710 south transition, i fully depressed the gas pedal to pass a very slow moving car, coming out of the ramp that merges into fast 710 south traffic. i would estimate the gas pedal was fully floored 2-3 seconds. then i lifted pressure, as i had enough momentum to pass the slower vehicle, but noticed the throttle was still wide open. i was going to shift to neutral, but i quickly stabbed the pedal and the throttle unstuck itself. wow! that was pretty nerve racking! it happened only once so far. *tr

The moonroof glass on my 2010 honda accord spontaneously exploded while i was driving down the freeway. nothing hit it, there was no wind or unusual condition of any kind. one moment, normal driving, then a sound like a big firecracker exploding in the car, then i looked up and about one quarter of the glass was gone out of the center, the rest was shattered into a million pieces but still hanging in place. more glass has broken loose and fallen down and the hole grown bigger over the past day. though most of the glass broke into safety glass-like chunks, there were some fine slivers in the passenger area that were sharp and difficult to clean up. *tr

Vehicle driven about 18,000 miles and rear brake pads wore out much faster than usual. honda service says they are 2mm where fronts are 8mm. faulty rear pads wearing out faster on the inside (pistons sticking) this inspection done in honda orlando and honda america insists that brake pads are fine despite the rear, where there is least weight wears out faster than front, where the most weight is ! i am not the only one complaining about it. make sure yo get your brakes inspected before you buy any honda's cause they are not helpful at all. if this is happening to you, you are on your own. i made multiple calls to different service centers and honda america. they just simply don't care. they got great customer service until you buy a vehicle form them. once you have a problem (even on a honda certified vehicle) you are on your own. make sure you do not buy honda breaks if you replace them with your budget cause you will keep replacing them soon again. clearly there is a problem and honda america has been ignoring it. i tried to explain on the phone again after talking to honda service. i passed the information to honda america. they are like; your vehicle is certified but we are not going to replace your brake pads. never heard of a rear brake pads go our before the front. *tr

The rear brakes prematurely wear out. i have had to replace the rear brakes twice. first at 23000 miles and again at 53000 miles. *tr

1. i believe the rear brake system on 2010 accord has a design flaw that causes the inboard rear brake pads to wear unevenly and to wear faster than the outboard pads. 2. the rear brake pads have had to be replaced twice since i purchased this vehicle new, on october 7, 2009: the first replacement was on september 2, 2011 at 36,365 miles and the second replacement was on march 12, 2013 at 67,699 miles. 3. march 12, 2013 pad replacement. the inboard pads on both sides are worn down far more than the outboard pads. also, the inboard pads are worn unevenly: one of the inboard pads has 2 mm left on the end near the break pad wear indicator & 3 mm left on the other end, the other inboard pad has 1 mm left on the end near the break pad wear indicator & 2 mm of pad left on the other end. the outboard pads are worn evenly and both have 5-6 mm of pad remaining. 4. this is just not right! both inboard and outboard should wear evenly and at the same rate and give more than 31,000 – 36,000 miles of useful service. 5. i believe there is a design flaw with the caliper and/or the caliper mechanism and the embedded parking brake mechanism. perhaps the design of the parking brake mechanism sometimes allows it to not release properly? my fear is that this design flaw will cause the rear brakes to malfunction while driving. 6. genuine honda parts were installed with both rear brake pad replacements and the front brake pad replacement. this vehicle has a normal mix of highway and town driving and very little stop-n-go city driving. neither my wife nor i “ride” the brakes. i believe “normal” wear, considering our driving habits, for the rear brakes is 50,000-60,000 miles.

Purchased a 2010 honda in january 2010. we experienced excessive oil usage and yellow warning light on intermittently. we requested an oil change at 4,500 miles and were told not to change the first oil until the oil life showed 15%. while traveling, at approximately 7,500 miles, the vehicle oil life indicator showed about 40% use although the vehicle had no oil showing on the dipstick. the exhaust pipes were blackened. oil was added and we were told there could be engine damage. we returned to the honda dealer who we purchased the vehicle from who advised us if the oil usage was less than a quart every 1,000 miles oil use was not excessive. we were told the car was fine and the tail pipes were not a problem. we continue to have to add oil between oil changes. *tr

The front suspension is making a knocking or thumping sound. the noise can be heard inside the car but not outside the car. the noise appears on hot summer days after the car has been driven for about 30 - 60 minutes. the noise is primarily heard at low speeds and when the brake is applied. sometimes it can be felt in the steering wheel or brake pedal. the car was taken to a kansas city area honda dealer but the noise was not duplicated because the car sat for a while and was not driven for 30 - 60 minutes. there are two similar complaints on safercar.gov. a texan recently reported the same problem on the hondaaccordforum.com. he reports the honda dealer service representative said they had three similar reports and the fix is to replace both front knuckles and bearings. he said the honda tech line is aware of this problem. he wonders why a service bulletin or recall has not been issued because it could lead to loss of steering. i believe this is a common problem and that something should be formally done to correct the problem. request nhtsa initiate a defects investigation. *tr

Michelin tire# p25/50r17 93v m+s. dot b90a. vjlx 2210 another tire gone flat, good thing it was not a blow out.. mechanic stated tire inside tire wall had a bubble and worn out on the inside wall.. this tire is a replacement for a previous tire, same issue, the new tire has only been on my vehicle for four months.. please issue an investigation and have michelin recall this style of tire also.. seems that michelin has recalled their r16 and r20 style tires, we're sure the problem is also in this r17 series too... thank you and we anxiously await hearing from you.. *tr

At around 25k miles, my honda accord began making loud screeching noises. after taking it to the repair shop, they said that my rear brakes were gone and needed to be replaced. this is completely ridiculous for the mileage i have driven. i did some research and found that many other people are having the same exact issue with premature wear in their rear brakes. in fact, there was a honda settlement for '08-'09 accords (and a few '10s) where they gave partial reimbursements for brake replacements. however, honda refuses to admit any wrongdoing and claims that this issue has been resolved in all vehicles thereafter. this is obviously a lie and they need to take responsibility for this continuing design failure. they need to pay for brake pad replacements and/or truly offer a fix for what causes the premature wear. *tr

I have had a very troubling and disappointing experience with the honda accord my wife and i purchased from rick roush honda (medina ohio) in july of 2010. i have attempted to work out a solution through the dealer but was told by the assistant service manger that the honda zone manager has refused to offer any compensation. we were expecting a normal $25.00 - $30.00 oil change. imagine our surprise when the total cost for the services came to $515.32. a) maintenance minder code ?b? service $82.27. i have no issue with this service as it makes good common sense. b) replaced engine and cabin (hepaa) air filters per maintenance minder code ?2? code. $66.55. again no issue. c) replaced rear brake pads and rotors $323.02. this is where i have an issue. according to the inspection checklist; rear pads frozen in pinches? caused the rotors to overheat. there is no reason why this should have occurred to a vehicle with 30,000 miles. rear brakes should last 60,000? 70,000 miles. it is quite obvious this premature brake wear is a braking system defective the same as or similar to the issue in the class-action lawsuit settled in late 2010. have or will other 2010 honda accord owners experience the same problem? has honda orchestrated a cover up to avoid the bad press and a costly recall at the expense of the safety of its customers? i expect a reimbursement from honda for the $323.02 charge including the sales tax. that will be a total of $344.02 ($323.02 + tax of $21.00. *jb

Bought my 2010 honda accord v6 exl new. at 45,000 miles the car experienced extreme shaking of the steering wheel and shuddering of the whole car when the brakes were applied at a speed of 70mph while on a trip. this was occurring whether the brakes were very lightly applied or more firmly applied. a repair shop said the rear rotors and rear brakes were needing to be replaced. the repair was performed and it reduced the symptoms by about 90%. now last week on another trip, the car began experiencing the exact same symptoms as it had prior to the 45000 mile repair. i have an appointment at the originating honda dealer on july 5th to address the problem. the over the phone speculation by the service advisor is "it's the front rotors". these are expensive repairs but more important, the condition is dangerous when it happens. few things are more important than the brakes! *tr

I never had back pain. i now have back pain after driving the car for a week. it felt like a solid piece of wood or a brick was in the seat. there is no seat adjustment that is comfortable. it turns out the new design for the headrest to push forward in a rearend crash has included a big plastic panel held on by 2 metal bars located in the seat just behind the cushion (i removed seat back to see this). this bars attached to the plastic pulls the headrest forward if your back is pushed against the seat. the lumbar is also attached to this plastic. if you sit in the seat and pull the headrest forward you can feel the lump go away for the most part. removing the plastic is the only thing that made the seat comfortable. however that disables the safety feature so i can't do that permanently. however that showed me the plastic in the seat back is the problem. updated 6/26/12 *cn *tr

This complaint regards my 2010 honda accord. at around 21,500 miles, i noticed my vehicle began making a humming sound toward the front of the vehicle. this sound would increase as the car accelerated and decrease as the car decelerated. when i brought my accord in for routine maintenance on 04/24/12, i informed the desk agent at the honda dealership of the noise. it was determined that the noise stemmed from a wheel bearing that had gone bad on the right front passenger side of my vehicle. although this malfunction was still covered under the factory warranty that came with the vehicle, i felt the need to report this problem as this was a premature malfunction of a very crucial part to my vehicle. it seems as if the damage occurred while my vehicle was shut off, and i cut the wheel to get a better vantage point under my wheel well. i make this assumption since i hadn't heard the noise before doing this, and then the first time i drove my car after doing this, which happened to be an hour later, the noise became apparent. many other persons that own a similar vehicle as mine may not think much of this noise if their vehicle(s) have similar mileage such as mine since wheel bearings typically last much longer than this. this could be a catastrophic mistake if this assumption is made, so i figured it prudent to advise on my experience in case this were to happen to another vehicle owner or lessee in a similar situation to mine. for the record, my car has been regularly maintained my local honda dealership and has not been driven in adverse conditions. *js

This complaint is in regard to the rear brake system on my 2010 honda accord. through my own research, honda has not issued a recall due to premature wear of the rear brakes in my model year accord, however i learned that they recently settled a class action lawsuit in response to owner complaints about this problem. my vehicle had 22,000 miles on it as of april 24, 2012, the date of my last service. i was informed by a dealership technician that my rear brakes needed to be replaced and that they had only 2 mm of brake pad left on them. i was told that my front pads had 7 mm of brake pad remaining on them. i asked the technician if there was a reason for why rear brake pads would wear out so quickly on a vehicle to which i was given the answer that most automobiles nowadays have the rear brake system providing more of the stopping power than in previous years. i need not go into my own knowledge, nor my personal opinion in this matter. however, the reason i am lodging this complaint does have to do with my knowledge of how braking systems work in automobiles. hence, i thought it prudent to apprise your institution to this issue so as to point out what may be a material defect in my automobile, as well as many others as i would presume. for the record, i bought my car brand new, have had it regularly serviced according to the manufacturer's guidelines, and the car has not been subjected to any out of the ordinary driving conditions. *js

Was making a turn on to youngs street near burger king, car infront of me stopped for there was too much traffic and i bumped into the car infront of me in which was a toyota camry. my front bumper, my hood, radiator was bent inward, passenger side panel was bent inward, head light was smashed in and broke, frame for front fender was bend inward and my air bags did not deploy. police officer noticed that they did not. *tr

My wife was driving 2010 honda accord back from work at 2:00pm afternoon. she was in the next street which was hardly 500 ft long at the appx speed of 20mph. she lost the control and hit a small tree on left side end of the street and car rolled over. fortunately there was no one on the road and she was wearing seat belt and front airbag deployed. but even though car flipped & rolled over, side & curtain airbags did not deploy which possibly resulted in very serious injury to her left hand. both the driver side & passenger side window glasses completely shattered. she never lost her consciousness and she could not recall why this happened. all she remember is that she was going to hit the tree and tried to steer away from it. *tr

At 20,000 miles the vehicle had a failed wheel bearing (noise/vibration), passenger-side front. driver-side front wheel bearing failed at 34,000 miles. dealer replaced the hub/bearing assemblies under warranty. this is a defect, as the bearings should not fail at such a low mileage. how long will the replacement bearings last ? *tr

I had a 2008 accord, which seating was very comfortable. i trade for a 2010 with all the same equipment and leather seats (same as 2008), but have major issues with the lack of comfort, lack of adjustable to support the back and legs. i, like others i've read, have backaches, neck pain and leg problems when i drive this car. it's ridiculous. who changed the design of comfortable seats to this junk?? why would the design change at all?? sometimes improvements aren't really improvements, and this is a prime example. shamed on honda. i've owned four hondas. i sure won't buy another one with uncomfortable seating. *tr

I rented this 2010 honda accord from enterprise (dundalk, md office) when my car was sent to repair. i noticed that this car was making a lot of noises while driving. then on feb 7, 2012 around 6:40am, i just finished work and headed home. i had all the car windows closed. as soon as i entered highway i-95 north (exit #43 in maryland), i noticed there was strange noises. it sounded like some stones jumping inside the door. the strange noises didn't go away and i heard a big explosion sound several minutes later. it was very scary. i thought i was going to lose control of the car. there were cars all around my car. i was afraid of hitting other cars. my first reaction was flat tire or gunfire. however, i noticed the driver side glass was gone seconds later and the car was still drivable. the broken glasses was inside my car and inside the door. this is very scary experience as i have no such experience before and i have not heard similar cases around me. i believe the glass explosion was due to resonance. *tr

Excessive oil consumption; car makes clattering engine noise (oil starvation) at around 4200 miles between oil changes; been on oil consumption test at dealer and told i am still within specs of burning 1 quart oil per 1000 miles being normal; have never owned a vehicle that loses oil between changes; dealer recommended i pull over on side of road when i hear clattering noise to top off oil; been getting oil changes every two months because of clattering noise being heard in engine; was given a software update to fix this in late august but it has only gotten worse-- went from burning 1/4 quart per 1000 to 1/3 quart per 1000. *kb

I took my car for a regular service at the dch academy honda and the service dealer told me that i need to replace rear brakes. it was very surprising that at 22k miles the rear brakes have gone. he told me about the complaint filed for the 2008-2009 and some 2010 models. i filed the complaint and found out that my vin is not eligible for a reimbursement. i believe they should consider all the 2010 models. i dont know what is the criteria honda has to indentify faulty brakes. clearly, honda has flaw in keeping track of thier inventory or they are not willing to acknoloege cusoter complains and act on the informaiton.

I leased a new 2010 accord ex 4-cyl. on the drive home from the dealer i noticed the seat was not to my liking and tried to adjust it to no avail. the discomfort caused by the lumbar support in the active restraint system in the front driver's seat is intolerable. as others have noted, it is very noticeable on long drives over an hour and may cause a safety issue by the distraction it creates due to constantly shifting around trying to find a comfortable position. i have contacted honda of america and have gone back to the dealership several times with no solution. i'm dismayed by honda's lack of response to this problem and specifically to my complaint with a 'sorry'. i'm now experiencing back pain which i've never had until driving this car around for the last two years. *kb

I went to a local sears automotive service center after i'd heard squeaking coming from the rear of my vehicle. a co-worker told me it sounded like a problem with my brakes and that i should have them checked. the mechanic showed me the brake pads that came from the rear brakes of my car--there was no padding left! another mechanic advised me that he'd seen a lot of hondas come in a similar condition--front brake pads showing some wear and rear brake pads with almost no padding remaining. he advised me to call honda and ask about recalls. i called the local honda dealership and was advised to visit this website: www.accordsettlement.com. i called for assistance because it didn't appear that my vin was included. i contacted [xxx] llp, who said they couldn't assist me because my car was not affected by the class action lawsuit. i think that this braking issue should be further investigated--it appears that it affects more than just the first nine 2010 models produced (as [xxx]claims), as i'm experiencing similar problems to other accord owners. brakes are a very component of one's vehicle! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*tr

The day after my ac stopped working i decided to take it to the nearest dealer which was autowest honda of fremont. even though summer was almost over it was still hot enough not to live with out ac so i decided to have my ac diagnosed. apparently the dealer said that a small pebble hit my condenser which caused my ac to stop working. my insurance will cover it but my deductible is too high, my honda warranty does not want to cover it because it was not a defect and of course the cost to fix the ac condenser plus labor would cost about $900!! i really find this type of incident un fair! if it that simple for a condenser to be damaged by a pebble why would honda put out a vehicle like that out on the streets! i know the condenser has to be exposed but i believe the model of this vehicle exposes the condenser too much and if its that simple for the condenser to get damaged then honda has to do something about it. i bought the car brand new and to have such a necessary repair running for $900 at 30,000 miles is ridiculous. either put better condenser on honda vehicles or don't put vehicles out there where one has to worry about hitting pebbles because they might cost you another $900! really unhappy with honda right now, especially the fact that i love honda's and most of my family members have one. hopefully honda can fix this, brand new car and already unhappy at 30,000! and of course i had to pay the$150 for diagnosing the thing because it was not covered by my honda protection plan! how are we suppose to drive a honda accord coupe with piece of mind if i have to worry about a pebble hitting my condenser and damaging it, when streets are full of them! i need a car that would give me piece of mind not one that would put me at risk financially every time i'm driving the damn thing! sorry for the complain honda and hope you can do something to fix this.

Driver¿s seat lumbar design causing driving safety issues note: it seems that this problem is more prominent for male drivers versus female drivers. this problem has become so bad that i refuse to drive it past 1 hour on the road; it just doesn't happen. why is this so? because the driver's lumbar is improperly designed. ...my statement comes from experience of personally having several vehicles over the past 30 years in addition to driving rental vehicles on a very frequent basis (i typically place more miles on rental vehicles than my personal vehicles) ¿ and i really do enjoy driving vehicles on long trips when driving the vehicle i literally get a ¿pain in the back¿. i have made multiple seat adjustments with no success. the lumbar area becomes very painful where it forces me to get off the road to rest the back. if i do not do this i become irritable (doesn't go over well with my spouse or the family) and starts impacting my driving ability. i have taken measures to wear a flexible back brace that provide additional comfort, but that only lasted another hour prior to the ¿pain in the back¿ returning. this is unacceptable (& i have never done this with any other vehicle i have owned or rented) i have communicated to my wife (it is her vehicle) that i will no longer drive the accord ex-l except on short trips (less than 60 minutes). the physical pain (legs, back, hip, etc.) the seat causes is unacceptable and needs resolved prior to my giving it another chance. i have done significant research since the purchase looking for fixes, etc. including inquiring with dealership and speaking with honda customer service with no assistance. the last result from the dealership was that the engineer did also experience the problem, but could not proceed further as honda did not have a ¿tech note¿ on the problem. i spoke with honda customer service (the 800 #) again on friday about this with little success. any help would be appreciated as this is unacceptable. *tr

In front of the 2010 accord there are two big holes cut out for a sporty look. everyday driving to and from work on the highway something flew up from off the road and went into one of the open areas and sliced my air condenser and all of my freon leaked out and it wouldn't be patched entire piece had to be replaced so my complaint is why would an area like that be left wide open to a main part of the a/c and not a piece of mesh there to protect that. it was not covered on my 100,000 mile warranty so therefore the repair had to come out of my pocket on a 6 month old car. i should not be afraid to drive my car but honestly i am due to the fact that i just had this fixed and it very well could happen again no warning all because this are is exposed and it is not covered under my warranty!!!! *tr

In recent, companies have changed how they make the insulation for cables attached to a car's engine. the soy products now used to create the wire insulation concerns me a great deal. this weekend my wife was driving our car, a 2010 honda accord, and while on the road the car started to shake and stutter violently, and would not accelerate. this could have ultimately caused an accident and harmed her and other people. after having our car towed to the dealership, there was evidence that a rodent of some type had chewed on the cables. not only did this make the car unstable to drive on the road, but there was a threat of electrical fire because the wire's insulation was chewed away by a small animal that was attracted to the soy-based food source in the wires. adding the soy to the wires can cause problems including unreliability, fires, and possibly even death. i don¿t take this lightly. automobile makers are using the soy material because it is less expensive for them. overall, it costs consumers/insurance companies much more when repairs are needed because of this problem. not only is this dishonest of auto makers, but these types of shortcuts are illegal as well. please require manufacturers to make wiring insulation out of non-soy-based products to ensure the safety of my family along with yours. thanks. *tr

I purchased a new 2010 honda accord lx-p in late november of 2009. on september 10, 2010, i scheduled an appointment to bring the vehicle in because there was a severe whining noise at idle that was most prominent under speeds of 20 mph. the whining noise started about four weeks earlier and seemed to dissipate once the transmission shifted into second gear. the noise sounds exactly like a power steering pump low on fluid or just before the pump starts to go out. i took the vehicle directly to the dealership since it was under warranty and left it there for several hours. upon returning to the garage, the technician informed me the noise is a common occurrence with all accords with the 4-cylinder engine and automatic transmission. he stated he even removed the power steering belt to rule-out the power steering pump. i then asked him if this was the case, where exactly was the whining coming from? he informed me that he just didn't know. please help! to overcome the severe whining, i have to turn the radio up or turn on the ac/heater fan to drown out the noise.

The daylight running lights on the 2008-2010 honda accord are very bright and the signal lights are relatively dim and directly inboard of the running lights making the signal lights extremely difficult to see. the daylight running lights mask the signal light. as the daylight running lights are always on, the danger is any time during daylight hours. no fix has been offered by honda. permanently disabling the daylight running lights on this automobile is the only sensible answer to this problem. *tr

Front driver and passenger seats are extremely hard and uncomfortable. there's a hard piece of plastic that runs the width of the seat that digs into thighs/buttocks and causes chronic hip/back pain and sometimes numbness. the seats are also too long which causes the front of the seat to dig into the back of knees. the headrest pushes head/neck forward in an awkward position which also causes neck and shoulder pain. there are no adjustments that can be made to remedy these pains and discomfort. just driving or riding for short distances cause this discomfort/pain. now, after 6 months of driving the car, the back/hip pain for me and my 16 yr old son is deemed chronic and there is really no relief other than not drive or ride in the car and we don't have another car. honda should come up with a solution and at least offer an affordable fix. numbness and pain of this sort for drivers is dangerous.

Unable to get the lock mechanism to engage to start the car. my mother has been left stranded five times due to lock mechanism seizing and her being unable to start car. she has called the honda service dept. twice and they recommended pulling hard on steering wheel (toward chest of driver). they obviously knew to recommend this remedy. but my mother is 90 pounds and frail. it took strong males (strangers in a parking lot,most recently while it was snowing) to pull the steering wheel out to affect the remedy so the car would start. honda has not offered to correct the problem and tries to blame her for "leaning on the steering wheel" as she exits the vehicle. 90 pounds??? my extended family has owned 20+ honda's in the past - including me owning a 2009 ex-l. we are all now disappointed. not to mention that my mother was made to wait in honda service for her initial 3000 mile oil change for 2 hours. they also charge her for rotating the tires at 3000 miles...talking about taking advantage of an elderly widow..... she went later to have the air checked in her tires because of the low pressure warning (remember, she is recently widowed with no knowledge of cars and her children are hours away) and they mad her wait 1 hour for this. shame on honda. her car is up for sale and so is mine. the extended family will no longer buy honda's. her local dealer where she bought the car is asheboro honda, asheboro, north carolina. they have thus far been indifferent to her situation. *tr

The high beam drls on the honda accord are masking the inboard turn signals. while approaching a left turn i was unable to discern whether an oncoming accord had its turn signals activated until very late in making my maneuver. because nhtsa has determined that drls are of no benefit to overall safety, it should require honda to deactivate the high beam drls on all accord models of the current generation. *tr

I have a 2010 honda accord exl. the driver seat is very uncomfortable and could possibly cause accidents by making the driver squirm around in the seat on long drives. honda does not have a inflatable lumbar support, but a cheap piece of plastic that digs into the drivers back. this causes the driver to have to constantly squirm around on long drives to try and get comfortable enough to get there. the lumbar support feels like a brick in the drivers back making it hard to focus on driving. i've heard of owners removing from the driver seat, the back of the seat and then removing the cheap piece of lumbar support plastic to get the brick feeling out of there back. i do not suggest this but want to make the nhtsa aware this is happening. beside the seat problem the accord is a good car, but i'd like to see a nhtsa investigator rent a 2010 honda accord exl and drive it for a few days, then take it on a long trip. see how your back feels then.

The front seats are the most uncomfortable seats i've ever experienced. the front of the seat doesn't adjust downward enough and hits the wrong pressure points under the thigh, thus cutting off circulation in the leg. the seat is also too long and hits at the back of the knee right where your leg bends. the seat belt buckle hits and presses against the leg right where the leg/hip bends. this too cuts off circulation to the leg and makes it very difficult to walk when you get out of the car. i've been experiencing both leg, hip and back pain shortly after getting my new car. this is a major problem since i'm in the car for a very long time period on a daily basis.

I bought a new 2010 honda accord at marin honda in larkspur, california on sunday 1/31/2010. but i did not pick up the car until monday 2/1/2010 because the car was "not prepared" on sunday evening. i drove the car home from the dealer in the afternoon on 2/1/2010 and i began to notice a rattling noise coming from the hood on driver side. i brought the car back to the dealer on tuesday morning where a mechanic suggested that the noise maybe coming from the defective housing unit of the windshield wiper. the mechanic ordered the new part but it will not be available until next week. the noise has been persistent and getting stronger/louder when i applied the brake and when the car is idling at intersection. the steering wheel also appeared to shake whenever this loud rattling noise came out. i am afraid that this problem maybe more that just a defective housing part of the windshield wiper, hence i am reporting this to assure that electrical problem or brakes problem are not the issue for honda (in lieu of what is going on with toyota cars at the present time). please let me know if you had similar complaints for the new model honda accord. i had been a loyal customer of honda but this incidence is making me very concerned about their quality assurance service before releasing new cars into the market. i thank you for the important work that you do to keep consumers like me safe on the road. *tr

In july of 2017 my car started showing that there was a instability in the engine. turns out that honda knew about this possible problem and had a procedure to deal with it without fixing the underlying cause. it seems that they made the pistons incorrectly at the factory and they could leak oil into the spark plugs causing misfiring in the cylinders. i went to honda dealership to have this corrected and they said they needed to replace the spark plugs, clean up the oil and top it off. then they would do oil consumption tests for a few months to see if the problem was gone. and it was gone for a while. just long enough for the warranty to expire so when the problem occurred again, i would be left holding the bag to pay the $2700 for the repair that should have been done when i first went in 2017. i called honda to review my case and they denied me twice stating the age of the car negated any assistance from them. my honda case number is 09490208.

I had tires rotated at 36k miles and firestone advised me of irregular wear on my right rear brakes. the brake pad rubs constantly based on a caliper and rotor malfunction. i verified recalls pertaining to my honda and found no relevant information; however, it appears there is a problematic issue with premature and irregular wear. honda should be held accountable for faulty brake components leading to unwarranted safety vulnerabilities and excessive consumer expenses. *tr

My 2010 honda accord coupe was making a metallic "squealing" sound when i applied the brakes (and, eventually, after applying the brakes). i took my car to the dealer (union park honda in wilmington de) to have the brakes looked at and was told that they needed to be replaced "with an updated factory part". afterward i saw the numerous complaints about 2008-2009 honda accord rear brake wear after as little as 15,000 miles. my 2010 accord (which was not one of the 2010's included in the class action lawsuit) had almost identical issues. also of note is that the rear brakes were at 1mm of material left (out of 10mm), while the front brakes were at 7mm (out of 10mm), so this would not indicate wear due to driving conditions. *tr
