I listed mileage at 300 with this problem, because that’s the amount of miles on this new vehicle at purchase, however I took this vehicle in to the dealership after 1,445 miles of driving under these conditions. The problem I am having is, that at most times, this vehicle will lunge in tight traffic when trying to creep, making it difficult to follow other traffic in close quarters at slow speed. The accelerator does not respond quickly enough during acceleration or deceleration and hesitates upon throttling and then stays revved for approximately 1-2 seconds after your foot is removed from the accelerator pedal. The transmission seems to shift into gears too quickly at this low speed and then can’t seem to downshift to correct the acceleration. I have almost rear ended vehicles in front of me, and have tried compensating this by keeping a safer distance, but as those of you who travel the DC beltway (or in any major city) in the morning know, that only causes traffic to jump in front of you, making the situation even worse. On one occasion during acceleration, it did not respond at all when attempting to pass another vehicle, forcing me to get back out of the fast lane and behind the slow vehicle. It litterally did nothing when I hit the gas. Another issue is that the cruise control system does not gradually get you back up to speed. After traffic has lifted and you can get back to highway speed limit, it will take you from 25 miles per hour (MPH) to 65 MPH instantaneously, after selecting the cruise control resume button, throwing you back in the seat and causing an unsafe situation to both you and the vehicle’s engine. When I took my vehicle in to the Chevy dealership for this acceleration and deceleration problem, the technician found a software program concerning stalling and hesitation in throttling and installed it, but it didn’t seem to entirely fix the problem. It still has the issue with hesitation and the engine staying revved in close quarters traffic as you try to tether the accelerator pedal. The cruise control wasn’t part of this correction and is another matter which I need to bring to their attention. After communication with the Chevy dealership and GM, and after their investigation into the matter, they merely said that this is the way this vehicle was designed and that this was a torque control system and that the throttle is a wired throttle and that I am just not used to driving with it and that I am used to a cable operated throttle which is more responsive and smooth. I have been operating this vehicle now for over 2,500 miles and it is just a difficult vehicle to drive in close traffic. I am a very experienced driver and this vehicle will definitely cause an accident to those who are or are not experienced drivers. I would like to know if any one else is experiencing this issue with their 2009 Chevy Silverado, or if it is just my truck?
