2007 TOYOTA Camry

The dash is melting and has this sticky goo on it. In the sunlight, it glares on the windshield and you are blinded. At night, there is some kind of film on the windshield that will not come off no matter what I use to try to clean it.

The dashboard on my 2007 Camry is melting and becoming very shinny and sticky. This has been going on for several years and I was unaware that Toyota had extended the warranty on the dashboard. I recently contacted Toyota about this and was informed that they had extended the warranty but that has now expired and they are unwilling to cover my dashboard. Since it is a known problem I feel they have a responsibility to fix it.

Toyota has failed to complete the dashboard repairs. There was no notification sent stating materials were ready to replace dashboard nor an expiration date on when to have work completed. My dash board is currently sticky and melting.

My Camry is experiencing a dash board meltdown when out of mt garage. I understand there was a recall which has expired. Called Toyota with no results. I did not receive notice of this. They state it is a safety issue or flare in the wind shield or heat making the air bags deflate. This repair is about 2000.00. The car is garage kept with 49,000 miles. I just want some assistance from Toyota

My water pump was replaced in Jan 6, 2016(mileage 69,307) and now again in 2019 January 18, 2019(mileage 93,621)

Car stalled and apparently engine seized due to excessive oil consumption without any alert or dash sensors turning on. There’s no leak. Engine is just very low on oil, and eventually car made a huge grinding noise when trying to start and will no longer start.

Toyota dealership performed their \"warranty enhancement\" test on my car in 2016 to see if it qualified for their known oil consumption coverage and repair. It did not see their criteria. Now my car is consuming 1 quart of oil nearly every 1000 miles and they will not cover the problem.

My Toyota Camry is burning oil every 1 quart or more every 1000 miles

The dashboard melted into a shiny sticky surface. The problem is that its very dangerous to drive due to a reflection from the shine onto windshield. Also nothing can be placed into dashboard because materials stick to it.

Auto was taken to dealer for scheduled maintenance and to check on an occasional knocking. We were told that there was a major problem with the pistons. The needed repair would include: Kits, gasket, hoses, clamps, pistons and piston pins. The cost of repair was $4,400.00

Auto was taken to another dealer and they suggested either a used engine or a rebuilt one with a cost of between $5,000.00 and $6,000.00

Auto has always been taken to Toyota dealers for all scheduled maintenance. We were never told about a TSB which was issued in August of 2011 advising of excessive oil consumption due to a piston design.

My wife and I are on a fixed income and can afford neither the cost of repair nor the purchase of another car.

I have been dealing with a sticky, cracking dashboard for 2 years now and it progressively gets worse each summer. It started out a little tacky when it had gotten hot from the summer heat and it has progressed to a sticky, gooey mess that cannot be properly cleaned. It reminds me of those old auburn colored fly strips we used to hang from the ceiling when we were kids. Cracks started appearing last summer and now several more have appeared this summer. I was not notified of a recall and I just found it online this morning while searching for a cleaning solution. I plan on owning this vehicle for at least another 5 years and I fear the dashboard will be an absolute disaster by then.

1. BACKGROUND
The vehicle dashboard became sticky on or about June 12, 2018. The entire dash is now covered with a glue-like residue. The Toyota warranty enhancement program (ZE6) covering this problem expired on May 31, 2017. Toyota has refused to replace the dash under the warranty program (Toyota Case #\'s 1806131876, 1806210691).

2. SAFETY-RELATED ISSUES
A. On warm, sunny days in direct sunlight, the \"sticky\" dash has a very bright shine. The shiny dash projects a glossy, textured image of the dash onto the front windshield. This can occur when the vehicle is either stationary or moving. This condition impedes my field of vision and makes it difficult to focus and clearly see the road ahead, other vehicle, and pedestrians.
B. During the summer season, interior car temperatures can reach between 130 and 170 degrees. What harmful toxins are being released in the car interior from the interaction of extreme heat, UV radiation. and the glue-like residue? What are the short and long term health risks from inhaling potentially toxic air while driving in a confined space?

3. SUMMARY
Because of the safety issues noted above, my vehicle should be recalled as soon as possible. I strongly believe that I am driving an \"unsafe\" vehicle that is endangering myself, other vehicles on the road, and pedestrians. No driver should have to drive an unsafe vehicle due to a manufacturer\'s defect which results in diminished road visibility and potentially interior car toxins. Therefore, this is no longer a warranty issue but a serious \"safety\" issue that needs to be addressed.

Engine burns 1.5 quarts of oil every 1500 miles. Toyota said the TSB expired at the end of 2016 and they were not willing to offer any financial help to fix the problem.

Recd Toyota warranty enhancement notification zE7 bulletin but were not experiencing excessive oil consumption at the time. Recently, excessive oil use has become an issue. Car is past primary & secondary coverage warranty. Toyota motor sales knew of flaw in piston design. Useful expectancy of well maintained Camry is in excess of 200,000 miles. Shortened vehicle use expectancy should be compensated/pro-rated for chronic vehicles with flaws in piston design that are outside the primary/secondary coverage.

Dashboard is melting! Toyota extended warranty for replacement but 1) didn\'t notify me 2) dealership didn\'t mention and 3) say it\'s my fault for not having predicted this would happen and looked into it before their May 30, 2017 deadline. Who would imagine that one day your \"quality\" branded Toyota would just start melting and emitting noxious fumes. There needs to be a RECALL for this problem.
Hopefully the airbag will no be affected, although I can no longer safely drive the car anyway due to the glare from the shiny melted dashboard problem, day or night.

BURNING 1 QT EVERY 600 MILES

Just purchase this 2007 Toyota Camry LE from Sterling McCall Toyota in Houston a few months ago and now coming to find out that the car has a oil consumption issue because the engine has possibly blown out or locked now because of this issue it will not start. I paid for this vehicle in full in cash from the dealer. Trying to find out how I can get the money back from the dealership for the vehicle sale price and the other minor repairs that I have made to this vehicle.

My car is burning oil excessively. I change my oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles at the Toyota dealer. My oil level goes very low in between oil changes. My husband is constantly check my oil level and adding oil between oil changes. My husband asked me to ask the dealer to check for an oil leak. The dealer told me I did not have an oil leak and they did not know why my oil level would be low before my next old change. Come to find, my husband found out there is an issue with the 2007 Toyota Camry engines that burn oil excessively. Toyota and the dealer knew about this issue and they did not tell me!

Consuming engine oil. I am original owner, purchased vehicle brand new, vehicle has only been serviced at local dealership. Dealer did oil consumption test few months ago and returned vehicle to check on consumption and it consumed 3 quarts of oil in 2 months. i had no idea that my 2007 toyota camry had an excessive oil consumption problem until now. I did not receive any notification of such but then I have been conservative in my mileage as I just turned over 100,000 miles recently in the last couple of months. I was told that they extended my warranty for 10 years or 150,000. Mine expired 8/2016. I didn\'t have the problem then as my mileage hadn\'t reached to point where the problem becomes an issue. I feel that toyota is deceitful and criminal.

Toyota knows about excessive oil consumption with 2007-2011 model years of the Camry. Mine is a 2007 and has the oil consumption problem that they sent a notification about, and the problem that was causing it. My car loses almost all of its oil in between manufacture oil change guidelines. My car holds 4.5 quarts. They say it\'s normal for a car to lose a quart in 1200 miles. That is simply absurd. No car should lose that much oil in that time frame. Toyota knows about this issue and they\'re notification states that these cars were made with defective parts. Those being the piston rings, and other associated parts. They know about it, and have still not offered to pay one cent to help fix the problem. I have called Toyota corporate 5 times about seeing if they would fix problem, or help fix problem. They never offered any help. And I put in a BBB report, and they still wouldn\'t help. This is a well known problem they\'re engineers created. I was not made aware of this before buying car, if I would have known I would have bought a different model year or a complete different brand of car. There is smoke coming out my exhaust after I start it also, and have been told it could be related to this issue also. Toyota needs to do what was stated in the notifications, and fix the problem for customer\'s cars that lose excessive amounts of oil.

My 2007 Toyota Camry is consuming 1 quart of engine oil every 1,200 miles based on a latent design defect in the engine pistons and piston rings. Toyota issued a Technical Service Bulletin and set the oil consumption levels at a ridiculous level (1.2 quarts per 1,200 miles) and they continue to reject my request to pay to fix the problem. They say this is normal. Funny none of my other 5 Toyota\'s have ever done this!! I strongly believe this is a vehicle safety issue and a loss of value issue!!

My family is extremely loyal to the Toyota brand and we have never had any major issues with an of our vehicles in the past. I noticed that my 2007 Camry SE 2.4L V4 had been burning oil extremely fast a little over a year ago.At first, a mechanic told me that I needed to change my valve cover gasket as that was what he presumed to be the root cause of the issue. After I paid to get that replaced I noticed that my engine was still burning oil at an extremely fast rate. I proceeded to change my PCV valve and switch to a synthetic-blend. Nothing at all has helped with the oil consumption. It is draining my pockets and time. Multiple mechanics have confirmed that there are no oil leaks. I am so disappointed because this issue is extremely draining and unsafe.My car burns over 1 quart every thousand miles. I believe there is an issue with my engine, I\'ve read similar complaints about this and need to get this fixed. I hope that Toyota can help me with this issue.

Toyota has an unreasonable definition of what is excessive oil consumption and the test was done without a independent third party to verify the test. The car was declare to burn oil within what they said was within their limit. I was told to come back to be tested again at a later date. Today I called and was told the car was out of the time period allowed for a check / repair (the extended warranty period 10yr after purchase).

MY CAMRY TOYOTA 2007 ENGINE IS BURNING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION

I have taken fairly good care of my car throughout the time I have had it which is almost 10 years but the mileage is only at 130,000. I was driving one day and the car completely turned off but I had never had anything like this happen before, even never had any significant problems with the car so this came as a surprise. I had just had the oil changed about 2 weeks prior and had regular maintenance done at that time as well. I took the car to my mechanic and they believed they knew what the problem was since the check engine light was appearing. They fixed said problem but they realized the car was still displaying the check engine light and also revving. They suggested I take the car to the Toyota dealer so they could read what was happening and why the check engine light was on and the car was not running properly. They ended up diagnosing that one of the cylinders was misfiring and that the engine needed a complete overhall/Replacement. The estimate given was $6000 for the engine (this site did not accept this amount) and another amount which I can\'t recall for the labor. I have not yet decided what I will do but wanted to look up any engine recalls or issues others were having with their camrys and came upon this site.

Oil consumption is beyond normal. Toyota did an oil consumption test about 2 or 3 times last year and told me there was no problem. I\'m the one experiencing the problem, since I have to refill the engine oil after every 800 miles. Toyota didn\'t want to fix the problem when I contacted them last year. Toyota issued a TSB for \"excessive oil consumption\" in many models. My vehicle has this problem. I went to the Toyota dealership for their \"test\" (i.e., more than one quarter of oil in 1,200 miles) and just barely \"passed\" so they would do nothing. The problem gets worse and now the oil consumption rate is very high. But Toyota informs me that because the car is now more than 10 years old, they will not take responsibility for it.

recently bought car for my daughter and since learned it is using quart of oil every 300-500 miles. car has approximately 90,000 miles. was purcahased at 85,000

My car was burning alot of oil gon every 3 weeks puttn oil n my car. Then I talk the manager n he states toyota is not responsible for customers oil. I been gon up there back n forth they finally looked at my car then I had to bring it back after a certain amount of miles. He said i was to late when I came back. N said keep oil n ur car so I left. 2 weeks later I came back again n state somebody has to fix my car ryan states he is gon to contact the warranty ppl. Then he say he can have it fixed just have to wait till 3 weeks im calling n waiting 1 month go by im calling then it took them 7 months to fix my car. They supposedly rebuild the engine now all 4 of my engine mounts are messed up. N my cv axles. N they gon tell me they didn\\\'t touch them how didn\\\'t u touch them if u rebuilt my engine. Now my engine shakes

I took my car to Toyota of Melbourne in Melbourne, Florida concerning my cars oil consumption which I never received a recall notice about and found out about by word of mouth and they completely denied me the repairs that needed to be done to solve the problem this is my third Camry I have owned and with the disappointment I have received and not standing behind the recall to take care of the repair for my vehicle I do not believe I will own or recommend a Camry ever again which depresses me all I want is my car fixed and then not to blame it on other issues that I know for a fact is not the problem which is what the dealership did and I still have the unbelievable estimate they gave me to fix issues that are not the problem my car is burning oil not leaking oil. VERY VERY DISGUSTED AND DISSAPOINTED.

First we were never informed about recall for excessive oil usage so we never paid attention. I recall maybe several months prior asking my wife about the blinking oil light and she assured me that she had just had an oil change or it was not quite time for another change. So about May she had just got oil change and the next day oil was completely gone. I raised hell at quick change and they came got car and assured us of no leaks and that they had filles the car with oil. Then several days later the radiator began to leak profusely and we could no longer use the car because it continued to overheat and burn oil. I had toyota to tow car in to fix radiator and some body work. That is when they informed us of the several recalls we had missed and that they had repaired them including the engine. A little over a month later we picked car up. It seemed to be ok. I took it on a short test drive. I took it home a couple of miles accross the interstate and parked it because I needed to reestablish insurance and the license plate I turned in since it was inoperable for over a month. Several days later I checked the oil and found it empty so I added 5 quarts. The next week I drove to drivers bureau for inspection. It was about 15 to 20 miles without incidence. After being there for 3 to 4 hours I drove car off the lot and 2 minutes later as I approached the Interstate it began to hesitate. Not thinking much of it I entered the interstate but the car would only reach 40mph. It started loosing compression and dropped to 20mph. So I drifted maybe 2 to three miles to the next exit. i floated several more miles as it bein to shut off wheever I hit the brakes. I was eventually able to coast to a Wal-mart parking lot and discovered the 5 quarts of oil gone. I purchased and added 5 more quarts. When I first tried to restart car it would not, so I raised hood and waited about one half hour thinking mabe it needed cooling down. It did eventually turn over. But I was only able to go a few blocks before it killed again. Eventually after letting it cool again I was able to go a few blocks and just parked until about 4pm the next day. It started and was able to go about 40mph for a few miles and then I drifted home another few miles at 20mph and parked it.

My car loses about a quart and a half of oil every 500 miles or so. It has been repaired for a leak at the top, but still loses the oil. I have been told by three mechanics now that this is common in Camrys over a certain age. If it is a common issue, it needs to be addressed by Toyota.

The dash starts to melt when the temperature gets warm. It gets sticky and wet.

My Carmy has had the sticky dash problem for over a year and I finally did some research about it, only to find out that Toyota had a warranty program that expired a month go, 31 May 2017. I called them up and they promptly refused to replace my dash. There are still many cars out there that were not fixed adn this problem can cause distracting glare during high heat.

Can anybody suggest a course of action? Maybe potentially suing them to get them to repair more cars?

Major Oil Consumption issue. adding 1 qt oil every 1000 miles or less. After a LOT of research on my own, I found a Limited Service Campaign. that had expired less than 90days prior to my finding it. No one at Toyota will help us. not the local dealer no Toyota HQ.

OIL CONSUMPTION PROBELM. CAR BURN ECESSIVELY. OIL IS ADDED EVERY 1000-1300 MILES. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN CHECKING THE OIL DIPSTICK AND NO OIL IS SHOWING. RECENTLY HAD AN OIL CHANGE AND TECH INFORMED ME TO CHECK OIL WEEKLY, CAR IS BURNING OIL.

Engine blew up due to excessive oil consumption and failure of vehicle to notify of oil depletion in time for driver to do something about it. Just minutes after the oil light displayed the engine locked up and failed leaving passengers stranded on a dark road in the middle of the night. We were unaware of the problems with excessive oil consumption that the vehicle had and purchased it preowned at 72000 miles thinking we were going to get a lot more miles out of it. 8 months later the engine is dead and we still owe $9000. Please do something.

December 2015 I went to IRA Toyota of Tewksbury, MA.01876 for a KNOWN TOYOTA ISSUE OF EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION
They did their regular test where the add OIL and put a SEAL on the oil stick.
They asked me to come back if I see the OIL light come back on
The OIL light came back on at 1,5000 miles and they confirmed their test
Toyota then took in my car and TOOK OUT THE ENGINE and FIXED THE ISSUE according to their FINDINGS and this KNOWN ISSUE
After 2 weeks, I went back to the same IRA Toyota to complain about a noise and sound that my car engine was making which sounded like the whole engine was loose.
They told me that they could not hear the noise and it might be coming from the trunk.
It was hard to convince them that my car sounded different that before they worked on it.
They told me to come back if it became worse
I accepted to live with it as long as I did not see any other issue
About 6 months I started noticing the OIL LIGHT coming back on – sometimes around 2,000 miles or less
I figured it is just my car maybe getting old and i simply added OIL or changed it
By January 2017, I noticed that this issue was frequent
I called TOYOTA US at 1-800-331-4331 and told them about my issue
They told me to go back to the same dealer who fixed my car before
I told them that I did not feel comfortable since they did not do a good job in the first place
They told me that i should go back there because they have all the information and it would easier

I went back to Toyota Tewksbury, MA on January 25 2017
Toyota did their regular check and diagnosis where they add oil and put a seal on the oil stick
After just 1,000 miles – the OIL light came back on
I went back to the dealer and they confirmed that the issue of EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION was there
To my surprise – they told me that they could not repair my car again because I came 14 months after and 14,379 miles
They told me that I was OUT OF WARRANTY
I called Toyota US again at t 1-800-331-4331 and told them about my issue
They offered to call the local IRA dealer and the Regional Manager to sort this out
They called me back and said that both the local manager and regional manager had said – they could not help me because i was out of WARRANTY
They told me that I can take the car to be fixed but I would have to pay for it myself
They told me that if I needed to go to a LAWYER I could do so but there was nothing they can do for me
I am now stuck with a car that has already stopped on me right in the middle of the street – with the steering wheeling blocking suddenly and for me having to veer quickly on the curb while the steering wheel is hard to control.
I can hear a squeeling noise when I change gears ( MANUAL car) and when I put the foot on the clutch.
The car shakes a lot when I change gears and I am about to stop.
I am afraid for my safety and of course lots of inconveniences because I cannot use this car for many activities involving my family or just anywhere past 10 miles of my house.
I am hoping that I can get help with this issue which is a KNOWN ISSUE BY TOYOTA, an issue that THEY DID NOT FIX PROPERLY in the first place and now they are just hoping that I can go away by denying me my rights to PROPER SERVICE.
I told Toyota US that it does not make sense how a KNOWN ISSUE CAN BE FIXED and just within 1 YEAR it comes back.

2007 Camry excessive oil consumption. This is a common problem with Toyota that affects numerous models between the years 2006 nd 2011. There was a TSB sent out to dealers on this matter.

I bought my 2007 Camry in April of 2015 with 140,000 kms. on it believing that the Toyota product was good. After driving the car about a month I noticed the oil going down on the dipstick. Initially, I thought nothing of it and simply added oil between oil changes. I\'m a stickler on oil changes and change the oil every 5000 to 6000 kms. and use only Castrol GTX motor oil. One day, a friend came to my house and we got to talking. He said his sister in laws Camry was doing the same thing and that she brought it into the dealer and they did an oil consumption test. The test revealed that she was burning over 1 liter of oil per 2000 kms. Toyota went good for the repair and fixed her car. So, off to Toyota I go. I had 236,000 kms on my car when they performed the oil consumption test. When I brought it back in, 2000 kms later, I was told that it was not burning a liter per 2000 kms so it didn\'t qualify for the repair. (I never did see what oil was on the dipstick when the dealer checked. I took their word for it). I asked them what\'s gonna happen if later on down the road it starts burning more oil. They told me that it was my responsibility and that Toyota had done their part in doing the oil consumption test. Well, here we are at 280,000 kms. and I\'m burning a liter of oil every 1200 kms or so, depending on how I drive. I\'m now using the more expensive high mileage Castrol oil in the hopes it will help my problem. So far, it hasn\'t made a bit of difference. This was my first Toyota and I bought it because of its reliability history. I doubt I\'ll buy another. If this is how Toyota treats it\'s customers, I may as well buy a domestic car as the Toyota\'s are not worth the extra money.

The car failed an 9il consumption test at a Toyota dealership due to faulty piston rings, a know manufacturers defect. The test was started at the recommendation of the service manager, but when the car failed the problem was presented as MY FAULT, despite me already knowing about the piston problem and being told about it by the service manager. The reason for blaming me was that the extended warranty Toyota issued for this known defect had expired, so then dealership poorly attempted to blame it on me to avoid liability. The car burns 1.5 quarts of oil every 1200 miles. Now I am at risk of serious engine failure at any time.

I bought my car from a reputable dealer in Kitchener (where I live) \"USED\" (as the Toyota rep explained to me was my fault for not doing my research ) but her lack of customer service/care is just a whole other problem I won\'t mention much…….

I started noticing my car burning a crazy amount of oil and was taking it in to get oil changes way more then I should have. Then one day I bring my car in for an oil change at Heffner Toyota (where I was going for almost all. my changes since I owned it) and they tell me about this \"oil consumption test \" that they can do to tell me if I qualify for the burning oil problem that is a known problem. My car qualified to get fixed and they say Toyota Canada will send the part to fix it when it comes in (at the time I\'m thinking what a great company to stand behind there mistakes and make it right ,after all thats why I bought a Toyota to have a safe reliable car )\" ,I called about every 3-4 months to make sure they didn\'t forget about me ,wasn\'t rude and they reassured me that theres no games being played and when the part arrives it will get fixed and in the mean time hold my oil receipts and they may even give me the money back for those as well. After making me wait well over a year \"for the part to come in\", I was in no better a state than before.

Now finally my part comes in and Heffner Toyota tells me to call Toyota Canada to verify before they go ahead with the repair. The customer service lady made me feel worthless because I bought a used car from a reputable dealer in my city.

They (Toyota Canada) asked me to provide the last 100,000 km\'s in oil change receipts. I only owned it for the last 60,000 and I took it to a Toyota dealership ,what more could I do ? well she said they can\'t fix the problem unless I give that info. I called the dealership I got the car from and they explained to me as of 2012 its no longer allowed to share previous owners info.

My major issue is a year and a half ago when they told me they would fix it when the part came in there was no mention I would have to provide such info ,instead they admitted it\'s a well known issue on these Camrys ,Now they refuse to fix it and my engine has got so bad over the time of waiting its barley drivable. I\'m a single dad with not a whole lot of extra money had they mentioned I would have to provide info I can\'t even legally provide, I would have sod the car in the beginning. A recall is a recall and to treat me this way is insane, I was so proud to own a Toyota, not so much any more. Please any help would be so much appreciated ,thanks for reading.

I am putting in a Quart of oil in my car every 1,000-1,200miles and Toyota will not fix the problem because they stated that I am out of the time frame to get it repaired.

I have a 2007 Camry with 125,000 miles. It is impeccably cared for, has new front and back brakes, new rotors, new battery and new tires. The problem is that the ABS brake actuator has gone bad and has to be replaced at a cost of $2500!!! When driving at modest speeds on normal roads the brake and ABS lights come on and the speedometer will drop to 0, I am NOT using any brakes at the time, and I have never needed to use the ABS brakes. I dont know what is going on!!! This happens off and on, for no apparent reason. I have read similar complaints by many other Camry owners on NHTSA. There is also a 180 page pdf in safetyinstitute.org that listed Toyota Camry vehicle problems, many about the ABS brake actuator or ABS module problems. This is happening to many Camrys. This is a strong safety issue, and from reading other reports, it is not safe to drive my car. The repair cost of $2500 is crazy and unaffordable!!!! I have driven Toyotas for 40 years and NEVER had this problem before. This part should last the lifetime of the car. Toyota should make this a recall item and replace the ABS actuator at no cost. They have already done this for Camry Hybrids.

On February 2016, I bought a Toyota Camry 2007 in Rhode Island, United States. After a while of driving the car, I checked the engine oil gauge level dipstick; I observed it was much below the lower point. I was surprised about that, and I went to a Midas Automotive Service to solve the problem. In Midas, they told me there is an extended warrantee for these car model and years by Toyota, and it is better to show my car to a Toyota Dealer Service.
I immediately went to Toyota Tarbox in North Kingstown, RI, and described the situation. They told they will perform an oil consumption test on my car, and I should return after 1100-1300 driving miles. I returned to Toyota Tarbox after the mentioned mileage. They checked the oil, but they told me your car has passed the test, and your car oil consumption is within the criteria by Toyota. So, I got happy and left.
After driving around two thousand of miles, I checked the oil gage level dipstick, and again I noticed, the oil level is much more below the lower line of the gage. Again I went back to Toyota Tarbox, and showed the car. They responded you have to drive 5000 miles after the previous test to have another test.
I drove that mileage and went back to Toyota Tarbox for a new test. They performed the second test on mileage 121392,and after a 1200 miles I went back to Tarbox to check the test result. They told your car has passed the test again. I was not convinced by the results, and complained to them, and they said if you come the next time, your 10 years extended warrantee has been expired, and we cannot perform any more test on the car, and you have to contact Toyota.
Therefore, I said I will do my oil change to see what happens on the car. On mileage 123895, I changed my oil in Toyota Tarbox. After 2290 miles I checked my oil level gage, and the attached figure shows the awful level of oil in the engine.
I went to Toyota Tarbox to discuss about my issue. They overtopped 2.01 quarters of oil to the engine, and they said they will contact Toyota, and inform me about the result. The next day, they called me to say that Toyota has not accepted the oil consumption due to passing the test and expiring the extended warrantee.

Therefore, I called Toyota customer service, and after a long time of describing the issue, they told your car has passed the test, and the 10 years extended warrantee has been expired. I explained for them that the first and second times that I realized about the Oil Consumption, were within the 10 years, but they were not convinced. On the other hand, I asked them some technical questions about the oil consumption criteria, and they referred me to a Toyota Dealership.
I went back to Tarbox to talk with Brain, service supervisor, and we discussed the followings:
1- The oil consumption test says that, if car consumes one quarter of oil or less within 1200 miles, it passes the test.
On the other hand, they say you can drive 4000 5000 miles after each oil change in Toyota depend on how much engine works in place in traffic. (The point is that we live in Kingston, RI, a very small town which never has any traffic).
Now question is: The capacity of Toyota engine is 4.5 quarters. By the above Criteria for the test, after 3000 miles my car will consume 2.5 quarters of oil. It means my car should work with following condition after my oil change:

It means that my car should work with less than 2 quarters of oil after 3000 miles after oil change.
So, my clear question from Brain was:
Me: Do I have to add any oil to my engine between two consecutive oil changes?
Brain: Yes
Me: If yes, how my car has passed the test, and if my car has passed the test why my oil is not between the up and low points of oil gage?
Brain: Ask Toyota!!
Me: You are Toyota representative, arent you? Do you mean I have to go to Japan to ask?
Brain: I am not Toyota, Call them
Me: Give me a paper written my car will not encounter any problem during two consecutive oil change if it has passed the test!
Brain: We can not do that, and we can not talk about the test, because we are not Toyota engineers.

I am complaining from Toyota for the following clear questions:

1- If my car has passed the oil consumption test, why should I add oil to my car during two consecutive oil change?
2- If my car has passed the oil consumption test, why the level of oil is not within the upper and lower points of engine oil stick gage?
3- If I do not add oil to my car during two consecutive oil change, does Toyota accept the responsibility of any damage to my engine?

Please help me to solve my issue.

Oil comsumption, oil is needed way before it\'s time for an oil change. This has being going on over a year. Took car to Rice Toyota and they did a test and found nothing but the oil is still an issue.

Excessive engine oil use. Oil blows out of the tail pipe. The buildup for oil residue at the tail pipe makes me very concerned about the possibility of a fire.
Went through the local dealer was told there was no problem or oil use. Had the local mechanic look at it and he found excessive oil consumption.
Now here we are with a defective engine and a complete lack of trust in the car either mechanically or for safety.

Purchased car used in Sept. 2016. Did preventive winter oil change 01-16-17, service tech reported no oil on dipstick. Researched problem, learned it is a nationwide issue and Toyota working with dealers to remedy. Implemented \"excessive oil consumption test\" 02-03-17, reported to dealer car was already low on oil at 265 miles into test on 02-19-17. As of today, dipstick shows just a trace of oil on the end, with 1,170 miles on test. Dealer wanted 1300 miles on test, and NO OIL showing on dipstick in order to fail car. Have seen many comments on line regarding some dealers and Toyota refusing no-cost repairs to owners, do not trust Toyota to hold up their responsibilities to correct a serious problem they were aware of.

Burns oil excessively. Always have to add 1 quart oil between every scheduled oil change.

I purchased this vehicle used a few years ago. It has had a high oil usage the entire time. It didn\'t come with a warranty and as a single mom I never took it to be fixed because of financial reasons. I\'m just finding out about the expanded warranty and the time has passed in order for me to take advantage of it. I don\'t think this is fair at all. It has been extremely aggravating and costly to continue to put oil in this car weekly for the past few years. This is an issue that Toyota knew about which makes it even more aggravating. This should have been a recall instead of an enhanced warranty.

I have a 2007 Toyota Camry with 155,000 miles that burns oil excessively. It burns one quart every 1000 miles

My car has failed an \"oil consumption test.\" I did not know anything about this or was told by dealer that my car has had issues with this. Now I am outside of what Toyota is saying is the window for repair and they will not do anything. Since this has been a problem Toyota knows about it seems they should continue to stand behind it no matter the time frame that is needed.

Having to replenish 1-2 quarts of oil in between regularly scheduled oil changes. I had this problem fixed with an outside mechanic and now it is occurring again.

Hi, This is regarding excessive engine oil consumption in my 2007 Toyota Camry LE. I bought it in Idaho and have been extremely diligent about oil change every 5000 miles. The car currently has 88000 miles on it and I started noticing this problem at 75000 miles or so. I came to know about the recall from a friend and went to the dealer where they did the 1200 miles, 1 quart consumption test. The result was negative so the dealer gave a pass. Few months later I randomly checked the dip stick and there wasn\'t a trace of oil on it. There was no red engine light and I dont even know if I was running my car dry or at a very low level. I immediately added oil to the engine and went to the dealer again (Piercey Toyota in Milpitas). They did the same 1200 miles test and again give it a pass. I went online and read about similar complaints where Toyota has recommended adding 1 quart every 1200 miles. I have been adding 1 quart ever since. So after every oil change at 5000 miles, I have to add 1 quart 3 times in between the oil change which I find extremely absurd. It could be possible that engine is consuming even more. Toyotas are known for reliability upto 150k, 200k miles, mine hasn\'t even reached 100k yet. I seriously believe there is a problem in the engine but don\'t know where to go to get this problem fixed. Thanks

Oil consumption issue. My car has low miles and is only now beginning to show issues of excessive oil consumption. I learned of the Technical Service Bulletin and the extended coverage provided (if proven it has excessive oil consumption issue), unfortunately I just missed both deadlines (October 31, 2016 and 10 years). I only have 89,000 miles on my 2007 and have taken meticulous care of this car from day one. Toyota will do nothing now. They say it is now a wear and tear issue. I\\\\\\\'ve been working with my local dealer and Toyota Customer Service to no avail. I will keep trying to get some type of coverage.

My dad who is 90-years-old noticed that the car was requiring more oil, before the regular checks. He later received a letter explaining the \"excessive oil usage\" problem. After two trips to the Toyota place, he is realizing that Toyota is trying to skate. He was told to drive the car for 1200 miles, and after only 1100 miles, it was a quart low! Toyota says, \"not excessive\". Dad\'s first car was a 1935 Ford and he now states that this is the worst car he has every driven. It had idle problems from the beginning, but after Toyota reset the idle a couple of times he gave up. He said it had \"lost it\'s power.\" We still have to go back after 1800 miles for another test. Are they waiting for the engine to blow up? It is a bit hard for my dad to constantly check his oil on this old oil eater!! Don\'t trust Toyota!

High oil consumption. Adding oil about every 500 miles. We have always followed a plan of changing the oil in this vehicle every 3 months or about 4000 miles. But now we have to top off the oil about every 500 miles.

Excessive oil consumption – Recall issue involving the defective pistons and rings

Starting at about 150,000 miles car started burning oil. Now burns 1qt per fillup (500 miles) @ 230,000 miles. This is a design failure. Car regularly maintained by Toyota dealerships upto 185,000 miles. Refuse to waste money on dealer service if Toyota cannot admit their design failure and fix it.

Dealer stated my vehiclear is burnino an excessive amount of oil due to bad piston rings. This sounds to me like a manufacturing defect. I want toyota to pay for this fix and repair my vehicle. I rely on my vehiclear of get me to work loss of this vehicle would result in potential loss of employment.

Oil consumption. Toyota Camry\'s 2007 have a recall on some of these vehicles. My car is burning over a quart of oil every 1000 miles or so and we have had both phases conducted a a Toyota Dealership and they are saying the car is burning under a quart of oil at around 1200 miles which means it passes their test not needing to be repaired. My Toyota Engine excessively using oil. Im burning thru a quart of oil with in 1000-1200 miles. Toyota says thats normal! No that is not!!! I just hit 108k miles. I change the oil on time every time. Vehicle has a oil consumption issue that has lead to engine failure. Vehicle consumes oil quickly without signs of oil leak. We changed the oil and discovered it was using a large amount of oil in a short time period. Driver was not aware oil was being consumed at such a high rate. Driver only discovered issue after recently changing oil and checking it. The only reason we checked the oil is because we heard knocking sounds from the engine. When we checked the dip stick it had no oil.

2007 Toyota Camery had an oil consumption test done at 66,000 miles and dealer claims it only used 1/2 quart of oil in 1200 miles. Just had another test done at 79,000 miles and was told it used just barely under a quart in 1200 miles so I am not eligible for the repairs to fix the problem. My car would need to use more than a quart of oil. Common sense would tell someone that this car has a problem even though it uses just less than the required amount and has uses more oil after the second test than it had after the first.

Engine uses approximately 1 quart of oil in 500 miles.

I have just purchased the car one month ago as a preowned one. After about 15 days the oil lid turned on. I filled in the car with an original oil. I checked the oil stick after I left the car for 4 hours and it was at the max level. Two weeks later, I checked again the oil in the car using the oil stick and it was below min tick. I have already replaced the valve gasket cover but the same issue still there. By the way, the car doesn\'t show any black or blue smoke in the exhaust and there is no sign of oil leak on the engine outside body. The car is no longer on warranty. I am frusterated and I don\'t know what to do!.

Problems with oil consumption, Was never notified in the mail about recall. When I did find out dealership. Gave the run around until the time limit and mileage had went over limits. Still refused to repair even though they provided proof of the problem while vehicle was still in the limits of the recall.

Noticed problem 9/24/16 during my I did my monthly detail cleaning and my cloth kept sticking to the dash and I had not even put anything on it yet. Now there is a very shinny glare during driving in the windshield and everything I use to wipe sticks and rubs off the texture.

My Toyota Camry suddenly developed excessive oil consumption around 110,000 miles. This car has been meticulously maintained by reputable mechanic (not the Toyota dealership\'s service dept) Looked on the Internet and found that this is a problem for many, many Toyotas, my model and year was included on a list of problem vehicles.

On August 11, 2011, Toyota issued a technical service bulletin (TSB)[1] to dealerships which says:

Some 2006 2011 model year vehicles equipped with the 2AZ-FE engine may exhibit engine oil consumption. The piston assembly has been changed to minimize oil consumption. And that P030# (cylinder # misfire detected) DTC may also be set as a result of oil consumption.

I contacted the dealership and took my car in for an evaluation. After the test, I was told that my car used slightly under a full quart of oil within 1200 miles of driving and that that was within normal limits and did not qualify for repairs. This is the first time I have ever owned a Toyota and I can\'t imagine that it is acceptable to have a car that eats through a quart of oil in less than 1200 miles of driving! Our other cars, Hondas and Subarus, never had this problem and they had twice as much mileage on them! I think that my car should be repaired by Toyota.

Toyota has a recall on a number of vehicles because of a piston ring design flaw. Last year they tested my 2007 Camry and said it was OK. Actually, it burned 1 quart of oil (I just found out from customer care) but Toyota says it must burn 1.5 quarts of oil to qualify. I was told that the car was OK. My oil light went on less than 2000 miles in to my last oil change. The car was 3 quarts low on oil! The dealership says that it definitely has the design flaw–but they have to run another test to verify what I have told them. Now here is the zinger—I have one week to drive 1100 miles. That is because Toyota has said this recall ends then. Somehow I am responsible for their engineering design flaw, their inability to diagnose my vehicle the first time, and their unilateral setting of an expiration date.

I do not believe that this is fair or reasonable. Perhaps they will see the light or extend the final date for me?

I cannot drive 1100 miles this week. I would if my schedule allowed it.

After 1200 miles, I took the car back to Toyota for second part of their Oil Consumption test, and was told it didn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t use any oil. After picking up my car up from my trusted mechanic (who said 2/3 of Toyota\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s recommended repairs totaling over $1600 were not true), I was told he had to ADD OIL b/c it WAS LOW. This is yet another example of Toyota lying to customers so they do not have to incur costs or issue a valid recall. They claim burning oil is \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"normal\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\", and only if their \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"test\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" proves so, they would replace the piston rings – they are lying about these test results to avoid having to do the expensive repair.

Dashboard is melting and is shiny. It\'s sticky to the touch. Causing issues with clear visibility when sun reflects off shiny dash onto windshield. Dangerous to drive due to this. No repair attempts have been made.

Oil consumption issue started in 2010 going into 2011 my car was burning excessive oil and Toyota saying it\\\\\\\'s normal and not to worry. I kept on bring car back and complaining several times then I went to the Toyota customer complaints department and created a case regarding my issue they finally agreed to replace the engine block in November 2011. Long story short it\\\\\\\'s October 2016 and the car is still burning oil Toyota did another oil consumption test and they stated my car failed the test and needs a second Engine Block!!!! I am looking to take legal action to get financial compensation for this . When it happened in 2011 my car had 55,000 miles. Also had a recall for the acceleration issue Toyota put some chip in the gas pedal to correct the issue but at this point I don\\\\\\\'t trust them at all

A TSB was issued for an oil consumption test. Toyota told me there was an underlying issue which turned out to be a cover timing leak. They wouldn\'t do the test until the leak was repaired for $1,500.

My 2007 Toyota Camry XLE is burning oil and i always have to be adding oil, I took it to toyota dealership after i received a notice on the mail about my car having a warranty problem, Excessive Oil Consumption. EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION

Vehicle is a 2007 Toyota Camry CE with 102K miles on it. I purchased vehicle in 2010. For the past year almost two years it consumes 1-2 quarts of Oil every other week. I have always gotten car serviced at the correct time. There are NO Oil leaks of any kind dripping from the car. When the car was first purchased I NEVER had to add Oil between scheduled maintenance work. Just got the Oil changed.

I had been aware of low oil in my car when getting full service oil changes at reputable organizations, but I did not worry much until a family member did an oil change for me and indicated I had near zero oil in the car. I started monitoring it very closely and had to buy extra oil and keep in in the trunk to keep the oil level up during long trips and then regular daily travel.

After moving towns, I was in for another full service oil change at a Valvoline shop when the technician again indicated that the car was quite low and mentioned that he heard through the grape vine that there were issues with Toyota engines and to take it to a dealer.

I went in on March 11, 2016 and Toyota put on the oil consumption test which consisted of zip tying the zipstick, placing stickers and other markings on the dipstick and oil fill cap, among other things less visible to my eye on the oil filter. I needed to drive the car for 1100 to 1300 miles and return for Toyota to evaluate the rate at which my engine was consuming oil. Ironically, only after that visit did I receive a formal piece of mail from Toyota describing the issue of excessive oil consumption. Thinking back to my visit with other Toyota customers around in the service center, my conversation was on somewhat of a hush-hush tone which now felt to me like they did not want other to know/publicize the issue.

Needless to say I returned about a month later on April 13, 2016 and Toyota confirmed that I failed the test meaning my car was consuming excessive amounts of oil. They take my car immediately and put me into a rental car. A few days later, I get a phone call from the dealer explaining that there are (2) types of pistons in 2007 Camry\'s and I have the rarest type which are on back order for a couple of weeks. There was apparently another Toyota in that needed the same rare pistons that they were already working on before I returned at the end of the oil consumption test. (NOTE for later on, I assumed this meant I was second in line). They told me I needed to come in, return the rental, continue driving my personal car, and save receipts for all the extra oil I need to add to stay in the safe operating range.

It is currently July 19, 2016 and I have been back to the dealer one time to find out about these pistons, rings, or whatever other parts are on the extreme back order since it has now been MONTHS not WEEKS. Upon my surprise visit, I was told by the Toyota service representative that they were sorry, the parts are still on back order with no idea when they would be showing up, and that I am now number 3 on the list?! They assured me that I would receive a phone call when the parts would be in, and it has been silent since.

Lastly to round out my rant thinking back to my return visit at the end of the oil consumption test, the Toyota service representative mentioned that because the final repair requires dismantling the engine to such a degree Toyota recommends also replacing something to do with the engine valve stems, seats, etc? Not being a car guy I am not exactly sure, but it did make sense to me. By the way, I am a mechanical engineer. The recommended repair was quoted around $500.

At this point, I was happy that my 2007 engine would get pretty much rebuilt. I care for my car religiously inside and out, and I have to say it looks pretty damn good for a 2007. In fact the service reps at Toyota even commented the same! The car has around 120k miles, and I was happy to think another $500 might allow me to keep this thing for a lot longer, but after talking with a \"gear head\" buddy at work (also mechanical engineer), he was very skeptical about the recommended valve repair. This put a lot of doubt in my mind, and it kind of felt like Toyota was trying to make a little but of money since all the parts and labor for the excessive oil consumption issue is on them. Fast forward four months with no updates from the dealer, and I am now one pissed off Toyota owner!

DO NOT buy a Toyota!! Here is my situation. I have a 2007 Toyota Camry 4 cyl. My vehicle not only got an extremely sticky dashboard which I blamed Safelite auto glass for but it also started burning oil in between oil changes. My vehicle was paid off and out of warranty & who takes their vehicle to get work done to it at a Toyota dealership when it\'s a 2007. I had every recall taken care of as soon as I received it at the Toyota dealership & also kept up with all of the maintenance on my vehicle at a certified mechanic shop. I have all of my service records & witnesses. The end of last year my vehicle started burning an excessive amount of oil in between oil changes. I ended up taking it to the mechanic & he was adding oil in between oil changes stating it was normal for it to burn oil because of the mileage. They also went with a thicker oil to try to get it to improve. I was also carrying oil in the trunk of my car & adding it whenever it started getting low. Well my car overheated & cracked my head gasket. After going onto Toyotas website & typing my VIN number in, it states there aren\'t any recalls or service campaigns for my vehicle. So I didn\'t think anything of it. I started saving money up to have my engine replaced so it\'s been sitting for months. After realizing I couldn\'t possibly afford it, I went online to get blue book values to sell it at an auction. Come to find out there was not one but 2 warranty enhancements or something like that covering my dashboard as well as my engine burning oil. They are trying to state something was mailed to me even though I know if I would have received anything I would have had it fixed immediately being that it is my only car. After contacting an attorney in California who had a class action lawsuit against Toyota, he stated to me that nothing was mailed out to customers. After contacting not only a Toyota dealership but Toyota service, they both ran my Vin number and it shows the warranty enhancement for both problems. Unfortunately customers did not have access to this unless they called the dealership. The lady at Toyota service stated to me the only way they would replace anything to do with my engine is if an oil consumption test can be run, well my engine is burned up because my head gasket cracked because of overheating because of excessive oil consumption. So basically at this point I have no other choice to pursue this further. I will never buy another Toyota again. If my car was being worked on by a certified mechanic and I have service records proving all of my recalls and maintenance was done on my vehicle, then they should honor that. I have pages and pages of complaints from Toyota owners stating the same things were happening to their vehicles.

I have a problem with the Dashboard it is melting and is sticky. It is also a driving hazard, when driving into the sun it causes a bad glare into the face of the driver. I called the Toyota Dealership where the car was purchased and was informed by the serviced department there there was no fix other than me buying a new Dashboard.

January 2011 the low oil light came on. I checked the dipstick. No oil reflected on the dipstick. Took to service dept at the dealership the next day. They reported very very very low on engine oil. Supposedly did diagnostics no damage to engine. Their explanation the tech probably didn’t put enough oil in at the last oil change. The dealership proceeded with an oil change. March 2011 the low oil light came back on again 2,000 miles before the car was do for an oil change. I checked the dipstick no oil on dipstick again. Took car to service dept at the dealership the next day. Received call within a couple of hours that a new block was needed. Since it was still under warranty Toyota would replace. Since the new block has been installed the car revs up and makes a lot of noise. I have taken the car back the techs and manager informed me that was nothing wrong since they don’t hear the revving up or noise. The camry has been serviced at the same dealership from the day I bought the car. After further discussions found out that the spark plugs were cleaned not replaced. Informed that spark plugs would go to 112,000 miles no need to replace. The reason for the block to be replaced was that a gray substance was covered on the spark plugs. They say it was a new block but how do we know that. I have called the Toyota 1-800 number but they just reference everything to the service department at the dealership. Then the dealership calls me. Nothing ever gets resolved. Toyota does not let you talk with the district manager. Your only choices are customer care or the dealership. I have owned 3 other Toyota’s with between 250,000 – 300,000 miles on each and never experienced the problems that I am having with this Camry. Any information that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Throughly aggravated, disgusted with Toyota’s customer service.

Vehicle hesitations when taking off and runs erratically on the interstate. Dealer has not been able to address issue on 4 visits.

This is my fifth Camry (my last was a 2003), so I am very familiar with them. My 2007 Camry has a serious hesitation effect when I press the accelerator. When I took it back to the shop, they told my that all ’07s do that because of a new computer operated acceleration system. I drove another 07 and it did the same thing. This has almost caused at least 2 wrecks when I tried to make left hand turns in traffic. Additionally, this car gets about 5 miles per gallon less than my 03 in the city and on the highway. But I am more concerned about the hesitation. It’s dangerous!

Problems began about 2 weeks after purchased the vehicle with around 5K miles (2/20/2007). Problem with the transmission. I have notice three seperate issues with the transmission. (1) On cold days, between the speeds of 25-30, the transmissions RPM would jump up to 4K and then back down 2k. It is almost like the transmission is in Limbo & does not know what gear it wants to be in. (2)When coasting the car will shift down in to a lower gear for no reason. This causes the RPMs to jump up causing a bucking/jerking motion & car decelerats. The transmission is very jerky.(3) There are times I will gas the car from a stop & the car is non responsive. It feels like a total loss/lack of power for several seconds. It eventually catches itself & overcompensates jumping up to 4K rmps. This has become a big safety issue when I am turning on to a major road with cars already driving at high speeds.Monday will be the 4th time that I have brought my vehicle in to address transmission issues.

On June 7th I was driving my 2007 Toyota Camry XLE on an upstate road. I proceeded to pass a vehicle on its left. Suddenly an odd loud grinding noise came from the engine. Upon by return to the right lane I removed my foot from the accelerator. My car wouldn’t slow down – it began accelerating uncontrollably on its own. At this point I was finding it difficult to keep the car on the road. I proceeded to brake – but the brakes were frozen in an up position. Again I tried to brake but the brakes wouldn’t budge. I then put on the emergency breaks, but that did nothing. Luckily there were no cars in front of me because this problem went on for approximately another mile. I than spotted a flat field to my right, starting getting over onto it, and also started shifting the car towards the “park” position. That’s how I finally stopped the car. I had the car towed to my Toyota dealership, where upon their inspection proceeded to tell me that they found nothing wrong with the car. I started to search this problem on the Internet, and found that my exact same problem has been occurring in Toyotas since 2002. Toyota Motor Corp. sent one of their technicians to inspect my car. He also couldn’t find that any malfunction had occurred. It’s seems odd to me that every Toyota that has had this problem always has had the same outcome as my car – “TOYOTA CLAIMS THAT THE CAR NEVER MALFUNCTIONED”. Well, I than went to arbitration with Toyota, and of course, the arbitrator denied my claim. The only thing I wanted from Toyota during this arbitration was for them to replace my new 2007 Camry with another new 2007 Camry. Toyota definitely has a “sudden acceleration problem” that they won’t admit to. I got this car in January of 2007, and have a 3 year lease on it. I can only hope and pray that this malfunction will never again happen while I am in possession of this car. I was lucky this time. Oh, I forgot to mention that during the arbitration the Toyota representative said: “that if this problem should occur again I should inform them immediately”. Now, the big question is – WILL I AND ANY UNFORTUNATE PERSON, WHO MAY HAPPEN TO BE INVOLVED, BE ALIVE AFTER THIS MALFUNCTION HAPPENS A SECOND TIME? Hope my story gets to others before they go to purchase a Toyota Camry.

My wife and I purchased a 2007 Camry le, 4-cylinder, 5-speed from Toyota of orange in orange California. Ever since our test drive we\’ve experienced lack of acceleration (hesitation) from a stop or after slowing down to turn or proceed, shifting problems (constant up and down shifting at certain speeds; car not sure which gear to be in and feels like the car is surging) and unable to use the cruise control due accelerating too quickly due to downshifting and then overshooting the set speed. Some of these symptoms are sporadic; you never know if the car is going to move or not when stepping down hard and quickly on the gas pedal. Sometimes it \"red-lines\" before accelerating, other times there is barely any response at all. Reported it to the dealer 3 times, had the software updated without noticeable improvements. Eg036-07 is the latest ECM update,. we would never have purchased this vehicle if we had only researched the car beforehand on the internet. me and my wife could never get used to the gas pedal because the car responded differently every time. one day my wife came from work and attempted to park the car into a spot on the parking structure, she pressed the gas pedal and the car accelerated really fast driving through the wall almost into the community pool. I have stopped making payments on the car since the car is sitting in the garage and very upset with Toyota since I reported the problem to the dealer 3 times and called Toyota corp on the phone and received no help.

While driving on I-5 cruise control would not disengage. According to Rodland Toyota in Everett the cruise control is suppose to disengage by braking. I braked repeatedly during this incident and had to manually shut off the cruise control. When I asked a Rodland Toyota representative about this issue, during my gas pedal inspection, all they did was have me brake to ensure I had brake lights. I have not attempted to use the cruise control since then.

There is a hazard when driving because the sun glare will reflect on the dashboard which became very sticky and melting everyday, that happens every time i drive it when the sun is up.

The camry started revving up to 1500 rpm at stop lights or when pulling into parking spots almost causing accidents, local dealer could not find issue after having car for a month. there is no check engine light or saved codes, i just notice the engine coolant temperature drop while its doing it so its an electrical issue. it happens every other day usually when warm out. i am too scared to have my wife drive the vehicle anymore and cannot justify selling. hopefully toyota will help figure this out. dealer replaced fuel pump but it did not fix the issue. also has hard starting once or twice a week, will always start on the third try if not immediately.

The auto was originally kept year round in minnesota. we have a place in alamo tx 2 years ago we drove the camry down to texas and flew back to minnesota. we left the car in a garage. the fall of 2020 is when we discovered we had a sticky dash. we called toyota in pharr tx they said there was a recall for this but the time had expired for us to get it fixed under the recall about 2 years age. because the camry was in mn for the majority of its life, the problem wasn't discovered until the fall of 2020, 2 years after the rebate expired. the technition at pharr toyota says that heat and humidity caused the problem. thus the heat and humidity in texas for 2 years brought this problem to light 2 years after the rebate expired. the dash is sticky and its a shiny reflective surface that relects light, hampering visability which is dangerous. we request toyota fix our dash.

At motion car start to make a noise and the abs and vcs lights appeared. then suddenly the car stopped. it happens a couple of times while is in motion.

Abs and brake lights are going on and off. also, the gages are acting crazy. working sometime and not working other times. the air conditioner is working sometimes and not working other. several people have had this problem and have had to replace the abs pump/module! there needs to be a recall on this!!

Toyota will not honor recall of bad rings. have wasted many work days at dealer ship. have gotten proof that there is a problem they refuse to honor extension. burns 2 and a 1/4 quarts of oil in 1100 miles!

I did my monthly detail cleaning and my cloth kept sticking to the dash and i had not even put anything on it yet. now there is a very shinny glare in the windshield and everything i use to wipe sticks and rubs off the texture.

Driving down a hill after leaving home, when the brakes were applied, the vehicle swerved back and forth violently almost changing lanes. afterward, it wobbled side to side and up rocked up and down as i limped it home at very low speed. the lower right rear control arm, the one that can be adjusted, was extended causing the right rear wheel to be cocked inwardly at the leading side of the wheel and tire. a week or so later, the car was towed to les schwab tire center, 10340 sw canyon rd, beaverton, or 97005, (503) 643-9446. they reported the long threaded adjusting sleeve had its threads stripped and the part failed. this shop had last inspected the car in august of 2016 during a tire rotation. they performed a 4 wheel alignment in conjunction with the purchase of a set of tires in about prior to that. i have photos of the condition as i discovered it on my phone. i can e-mail or text them separately. at present, i do not know how to download them into my computer to include them with this report. i have instructed les schwab to keep the part for me. they will repair and align the car today or tomorrow. i will take the part to beaverton toyota for inspection when the work is complete. there was no incident, accident, abnormal curb contact, etc. with the car. the car's mileage is 177+k. after i determined the car needed repair, i kept it at home until i could inspect it and determine the problem. i had the car towed to les schwab today.

I have just purchased the car one month ago as a preowned one. after about 15 days the oil lid turned on while i was moving to my school. i filled in the car with an original oil. i checked the oil stick after i left the car for 4 hours and it was at the max level. two weeks later, i checked again the oil in the car using the oil stick and it was below min tick. i have already replaced the valve gasket cover but the same issue still there. by the way, the car doesn't show any black or blue smoke in the exhaust and there is no sign of oil leak on the engine outside body. the car is no longer on warranty. i am frusterated and i don't know what to do!.

Toyota has a recall on a number of vehicles because of a piston ring design flaw. last year they tested my 2007 camry and said it was ok. actually, it burned 1 quart of oil (i just found out from customer care) but toyota says it must burn 1.5 quarts of oil to qualify. i was told that the car was ok. my oil light went on less than 2000 miles in to my last oil change. the car was 3 quarts low on oil! the dealership says that it definitely has the design flaw--but they have to run another test to verify what i have told them. now here is the zinger---i have one week to drive 1100 miles. that is because toyota has said this recall ends then. somehow i am responsible for their engineering design flaw, their inability to diagnose my vehicle the first time, and their unilateral setting of an expiration date. i do not believe that this is fair or reasonable. perhaps they will see the light or extend the final date for me? i cannot drive 1100 miles this week. i would if my schedule allowed it.

The quality of low beam lights for night driving is insufficient for driving. i have complained to my toyota dealership in baytown tx and their recommendations of cleaning the lenses and replacing the bulbs has had no effect. high beams work fine. my first complaint was in 2008 and every time i brought the car in for maintenance, etc. maintenance. i'm afraid for my life at night when it is inconvenient to use my high beams. for courtesy sake my spouse refuses to use the high beams on the numerous farm market roads we drive at night but i am in the passenger seat where the black horse or cow or god forbid a person will emerge. my spouse and sons all agree it's a major problem. please help me.i would get rid of my camry but i am still waiting for the dash recall to happen. toyota is impossible to deal with. i don't know how i can provide pictures of the inferior low beam lighting. with my health issues i doubt if i would survive an accident due to this problem. *tr

Abs actuator problem: my 2007 toyota camry has a failed abs actuator. this will cost me $2,000 to replace. the abs and brake warning lights lit up on the dashboard and the tachometer started fluctuating wildly, so i had it towed to the dealer. i have had the car for 9.5 years and it has about 78,000 miles on it, so i believe the original part should have lasted longer. i am aware of the abs actuator problems on the 2007-08 camry hybrid models, so i think you should investigate the abs actuators on the regular camry models too.

2007 toyota camry bought used with 62,500 miles on october 4, 2016. on october 8th i was exiting off the highway slowly easing off the gas pedal to decrease my speed and my car shuts down!!!! stops running !!! i lost the power steering of course. did at least two and a half 360's until i came to a stop in the middle of a 3 lane road. it happened so fast i have no idea how i kept it from leaving the road. took it back to the dealer i purchased it from. they couldn't find anything wrong with the front end. their thoughts are it shut off and to go buy fuel injector the next time i get gas. i could have been seriously injured with this happening. now i'm so paranoid about driving the car and feel very unsafe.

My driver side visor is down and won't stay up and blocking my view. it's annoying to drive with it to my left side. i called and they said my vin was outside the warranty/recall. so i'm punished because a recall item didn't break when the recall was issued. i think if there's a recall it should be for the life of the car. i should not have to pay for something that was once part of a recall.

Took my 2007 camry to al hendrickson due to an oil consumption recall. i was told there was an underlying problem involving the timing cover. they refused to do the oil consumption test until i paid $1,500 to have the oil timing cover repaired.

I have a 2007 toyota camry that has intermittent instrument cluster problems. odometer does not increment miles traveled. the speedometer and tachometer will cease to indicate proper readings and drop to zero. the tachometer will then bounce between zero and what i can only assume is a close approximation of the actual engine rpm. at the same time, the abs and parking brake warning lights illuminate and stay on for the duration of the "episode".

Driver & passenger sun visors have either fallen off completely and/or no longer able to stay up and out of way. this has occurred several times throughout the years. we've replaced these visors 2 to 3 times, at least once with dealer. never notified of any recall throughout the years. most recent incident occurred the morning of 7/18/17, when driver side visor suddenly became loose from its upward position and released to an unstable downward position. this sudden obstruction nearly resulted in an accident as the visor blocked the driver's view while the vehicle was in motion. driver was able to avoid a collision, but was required to hold the visor out of the way before being able to pull over and try to maneuver visor upwards to lock in place to no success. driver at that point had to remove visor for safety reasons. passenger visor already fell off earlier on its own and now the driver's side has been removed; vehicle no longer has sun visors. vehicle operator lives in central arizona with consistently "very high" uv index. the loss of visors makes this car difficult to drive during daytime, even with independent eye protection (ie: sunglasses) as well as with he visors' unreliability to remain attached to the car's interior.

My carmy has had the sticky dash problem for over a year and i finally did some research about it, only to find out that toyota had a warranty program that expired a month go, 31 may 2017. i called them up and they promptly refused to replace my dash. there are still many cars out there that were not fixed adn this problem can cause distracting glare during high heat. can anybody suggest a course of action? maybe potentially suing them to get them to repair more cars?

My car loses oil at the rate of a quart and a half every 500 miles or so. it has been repaired for an obvious leak at the top of the engine, but continues to lose oil at this rate. i have been told by three mechanics now that this is common in camrys. if it is so common, it needs to be addressed by toyota.

The low beam headlights have a near 0% effectiveness. i leave the headlight switch in the "always on" position, but at night i often have to switch the headlights off and then back on to verify they are on. when they are on at night, the headlights are at near 0% effectiveness.

When i first purchased my camry, i noticed the dashboard was very shiny and i thought maybe that was due to the dealership cleaning it up for me because i just purchased it. over time i noticed that the shine started to become an issue with me while driving especially during the hot and sunny time frame of the day. so one day i decided to take my hand and just rub the dash to see if it'll take some of the shine away and as soon as i touched it my hand got stuck and burnt from the heat of the "sticky dashboard" so when i got home i decided to try and clean it with some soap and water to see if it'll remove the stickiness and unfortunately it didn't work. my cousin has the same car and i called her to see what i should do and much to her amazement she disclosed with me that she is having the same issue with her 2007 camry as well. so i took my car to a guy who details cars and not only did he state that he has seen this problem before on the 2007 camry's but he has seen the same issue on this specific car in other states because he was from ny and also lived in georgia and detailed cars in those states as well. this has become a nuisance now because it is blinding me as i drive unless i put a cloth over my dash and then i have trouble removing it because it is literally glued down to it after the fact. my daughter unbeknownst to the fact that it was hot decided to reach up and wipe it so the glare would go away as well and she burnt her hand too. i strongly believe this needs to be investigated and a recall should be issued as this is definitely a defect on these cars.

The engine locked up and failed while on a over night trip leaving passengers stranded in the dark in the middle of the night. the oil light came on only minutes before, not allowing for adequate time to intervene. we were unaware at the time of the engines problem with excessive burning of oil. the garage mechanics were expecting to find an oil leak as the problem for the engine burning up and were surprised to find no leak. the car was purchased 8 months ago, pre-owned with 72,000 miles on it. when the engine failed it had 89,000 miles on it and $9000 left on the loan. reluctant to pay thousands to have the engine replaced since the engine is known to have this recurring problem.

Known issue of excessive oil consumption where the oil change light comes on just into 1,000 miles after changing oil. the local dealer at ira toyota of tewksbury, ma.01876 - tried to fix the problem the first time but the problem came back or was still there. i have since complained to toyota us at 1-800-331-4331 they opened a case#1701232302 for my issue but now say that the local toyota and even regional stores cannot take my car back to fix it again the local store says that i am out of warranty because i came back after 14,379 miles i am now stuck with a car that has already stopped on me right in the middle of the street - with the steering wheeling blocking suddenly and for me having to veer quickly on the curb while the steering wheel is hard to control. i can hear a squeeling noise when i change gears ( manual car) and when i put the foot on the clutch. the car shakes a lot when i change gears and i am about to stop. i am afraid for my safety and of course lots of inconveniences because i cannot use this car for many activities involving my family or just anywhere past 10 miles of my house. i am hoping that i can get help with this issue which is a known issue by toyota, an issue that they did not fix properly in the first place and now they are just hoping that i can go away by denying me my rights to proper service. i told toyota us that it does not make sense how a known issue can be fixed and just within 1 year it comes back.

My brake and abs lights come on intermittent. when the two lights come on the speedometer stops working and it's difficult to brake. my local toyota dealership stated that my abs actuator/abs module is going out. this is the same year, make, and model of cars that people lost there lives due to brake issue. toyota refuses to acknowledge and repair this issue.

I have a 2007 camry with 125,000 miles. it is impeccably cared for, it has new front and back brakes, new rotors, new battery and new tires. the problem started several weeks ago in april 2017. while driving modest speeds on regular roads, the break and abs warming lights come on, and the speedometer stops working and goes to 0, even though the car is moving. this keeps happening intermittently with no relation to speed or road conditions. also, i live in sunny california, and never in my life have had to use the abs system for any breaking. i was told by my mechanic this is an abs brake control module problem, which will cost about $2500 to fix. this is outrageous!!! i am retired and cannot afford this kind of expense!!! i have been driving toyotas for over 40 years and i never had this problem or even heard of this problem before. my prior camry lasted for 14 years and 200,000 miles and never had this problem. toyota truly needs to fix the problem or at least tell all future camry buyers to be prepared for a $2500 - $5000 expense in the future. if i had known about this when i bought the car i would never have bought it!! *js

The engine oil has burned up. have almost no oil left after getting oil change less than 3000 miles ago. the is no oil leakage on driveway where car is parked. oil filter is on tight and oil cap is on. my wife said she was getting a warning light of some kind that day so i checked the oil when she told me. i took my car, bought and added 4 qts of high mileage oil and zmax treatment to minimize any potential damage.

My abs light and brake light simultaneously came on when i was at a stoplight one day at the same time my air conditioner only blows out hot air and i was told that this is a safety issue because if you step on your brakes too fast or anything like that the car can skid or lose traction or ever the case may be to me this is a manufactured default and should be recalled for warranty to be replaced since most of these issues are causing people 2500 plus which is way more than the value of the car on top of the burden it cost to get it fixed it's very dangerous and there are plenty of other people that i have complained online and spoke with that their abs modules have also went out on this year car as well as melting dashboard defaulted power windows oil consumption which i need to go check mine to see if that is also happening on this model 07 very unethical very dangerous!!! i mean come on if it's a warranty issue it would be something that we would have to maintain on a regular basis and order for it not to be broken but obviously this is not something that you can maintenance like your oil or your tires this needs to be recalled this is my formal complaint thank you

I recently bought a 2007toyota camry december 2016 and ever since i bought it, it has been consuming too much oil. it would burn my full tank of oil at around 1k-1.2k miles after an oil change. i,'m afraid that this much oil consumption will eventually lead to wrecking the motor and probably causing an accident. toyota had a warranty for this type of issue but it expired last year. and i had no idea about this until just recently searching for this type of problem. to fix this problem in which i was not aware of in the first place, the only solution to this would be a recall.

My abs doesn't work in my car and caused me to have accident. it was snowing and i began sliding , when i slammed on my breaks the car spun around and hit a pole . if abs was working this wouldn't have happened . the breaks would have pumped and gradually came to a stop .

The short circuiting of the abs actuator has hit me too. this happened on 03/22/2017 to my 2007 camry le. it first came up when i was waiting at a red light. the abs and brake light came up and even when the car started moving, the speedometer wasn't moving. i took the vehicle to the service center and was told that the abs actuator needs to be replaced. it is going to cost me $2500. i do not want to spend almost half of the car's worth on replacing this part when i won't be surprised if another part blows up. looks like this is a very common issue with the 2007 camry model. i am surprised that toyota is not extending the warranty offered to the hybrid model to the non hybrid one. this is indeed a manufacturing issue and should be fixed. or is it going to take a few accidents before toyota accepts its fault. fuel gauge, tacometer, speedometer don't work nhtsa action number: pe14001 covers just hybrid model however the it's the same same part: brake actuator

Bought car used a year ago. had oil consumption test done at 74,000 miles within time frame allowed. was told engine was good. now, at 80,000 miles oil is at bottom tip of oil dip stick. i called dealer where oil consumption test was done. was told "we only added a quart..." at test's conclusion. i was not told at the time of the oil consumption test's conclusion that a "quart was added." since i was not told a quart was added, i wasn't aware i had to watch my oil. upon starting the vehicle, oil light flashed briefly but i couldn't make-out what it was. following day, upon starting vehicle, it flashed again. another day and it stays on very briefly but long enough for me to figure that it was the oil light. i let car sit on flat surface for an hour, checked oil and it just touched tip of dipstick. i added two quarts of oil.

I have been change oil by toyota dealer, regularly on and off, since bland new. but once a while, i took different shop to change parts. about 2012 i learn that i have problem with strut, when i was replacing tires. so i went back and i complain about the strut to kearny mesa toyota, san diego, but they told me it is still okay to drive as it is, but about 2014, i starting having problem with my tires, so i went to toyota poway, they told me i need to replace sturt along with tires, so i request to replace strut and tires and they called me the bearing need to be replace as well. i was really mad and i contact the toyota, and kearny mesa toyota contact me they will replace bearing for me. now after 2 and half years with a little over 20k mile on the vehicle it started to having strut leak problem again. i contact the toyota poway, they told me i need to replace strut need to replace again. i contacted the toyota and they don't want to help this time.

Dealership found the abs actuator had failed. symptoms included: abs and parking break lights randomly turn on while driving. speedometer will stop working and tachymeter will start to bounce. a/c also blows warm. there are several cases of this found online and per consumer reports the 2007 camry hybrid experienced problems with the abs actuator as well.

2007 camry ce, problem started with car having 75k miles. car now has 102k miles. oil consumption is increasing. now consuming 1-2 quarts every other week. there are no oil leaks any where. no leaks underneath engine, on top of engine, and any where visible or at all. no oil leaks! but oil is required regardless every other week! car is stationary when oil is checked. cause of problem (i am told by dealership mechanics that oil consumption problem is caused by "bad" rings in the engine). the dealership mechanic say they see that problem often with the year, model, and make of car. no paperwork provided.

I have a 2007 toyota camry. it has about 170,000 miles. i get regular oil changes and check up on the car. while driving my vehicle vsc lights, brakes, and battery light comes on and my power steering goes out. my car engine turns off and i am unable to recrank it. all of my systems are on such as the ac, radio, and lights, however the vehicle is unable to start. this has happened to be twice in 1 week. the first time i got it towed to the dealership and they stated it was just the battery. so after paying over $150 for a diagnostic and oil change, i drove my car away only to get about 5 miles down the road and it happened again. this time, i almost crashed into a car while i was trying to pull my car safely off the road. this led to a second tow truck bill and an irritable call to the dealer. the car is there now and they have no idea what is going on. they are trying to state the car may have water damage to the computer system which seems to be total bs. my car has not been in any type of flood zones. luckily for the inconvenience they provided me with a rental car because i was left stranded after they assured me that my car was safe to drive. that is the only upside of this, however i am concerned they will come back to me with an astronomical bill for a computer error. has anyone else had this issue to happen? this is very scary to drive a car and it just cuts off on you. bad move toyota, bad move!

Excessive oil consumption car has about 88,000 miles and the oil light came on about halfway between oil changes. i took it to perryville tire to have oil checked--was told i had none. took it back to the dealer and they did an oil consumption test, which they told me it passed after they added 1 quart of oil and that this is normal oil consumption. this is ridiculous--i have owned many vehicles and none burned oil at this rate. normal--bah, humbug. i do have the extended warranty which covers up to 100,000 miles. i do believe toyota is trying to run out the warranty.

On an intermittent basis, brake and abs indicator lights illuminate on instrument panel, tachometer and speedometer are inoperative or indicator needles jumping, temperature gauge inoperative, a/c not functioning. occurs while driving and when stationary. based on internet research other drivers state problem is with abs ecu. dealer indicates toyota will not fund repair. based on apparent frequency of problem, toyota should cover cost of repair. per dealer, part costs about $1700.

My driver side visor broke out of nowhere. i was looking online and i saw where toyota was replacing them for this such reason. unfortunately, i was told that the warranty was only good for 7 years from first use. my warranty ran out 2 years ago, so i guess i have to pay out of pocket. i think since it's a known issue, it should be replaced or at the least given a discount on having to buy a new one.

1) front headlamps burn weak and plastic lens covers yellowed over time, latter problem of which is that lenses can't be cleaned by either commercial auto solvents or by local mechanic, creating safety hazard for driving at night. price quoted for parts alone via toyota is $818 for headlamp set, plus labor. i have owned 2 other camry models and never had any issue with headlamp obfuscation due to lens material or bulb composition. this vehicle's headlamp lens composition is filmy to cloudy to naked eye in daylight, not nearly crystal clear as when new.. even if bulbs were replaced the lens would obscure radius and length of headlamp for any night distance driving other than heavily lit streets. must use high beams at night when possible and when not hazard to oncoming drivers. even high beam distance dull. noticed while driving on highway and other cars illuminate their own pathway far better than my own. night time driving on rural, semi-rural, county, suburban or unlighted state and local highways in particular are a hazard. 2) engine has regularly burned 1 quart of oil about every 1,000 miles since car had clocked 60k miles. underwent oil test under extended recall bulletin via toyota and it deemed car within specs (time of year and type of oil can vary amount of oil burned but recommended 5w20 results in 2-3 quarts a month burned off, no leaks, 75% highway driving.). bigger issue is oil can get dangerously low (at least quarter inch below dipstick low level) and no dashboard warning light comes on. oil levels must be checked manually at least weekly and/or at fill-up to ensure oil tank has enough oil. generally have been adding 2 to 3 quarts a month. despite tech bulletin recommendations, toyota says i am ineligible for mechanical remediation. car currently runs and has 160k miles +/- on it. date below is approximate for 60k mileage..

I purchased this car used a few years ago. it has had a high oil consumption the entire time. it has been extremely aggravating and costly putting oil in the car weekly. as a single parent, i didn't take the car to be fixed because of financial reasons. i'm just finding out about the extended warranty and the time has passed for me to take advantage of the warranty. toyota knowing about the issue makes it even worse. this should have been a recall instead of an extended warranty. i was considering buying a new toyota until i read this. this makes me distrust toyota because of the underhanded way they're treating their customers about an issue they knew about.

After toyota completing an oil consumption test they informed us they add 1 qt of oil and then measure how low it was after the added oil in the 1200 mile test and concluded the 1/2qt low was not enough to warrant repairs to the engine, knowing they have a defect in the engine piston rings it was actually 1 1/2 qt low in total and they wont fix the problem and said it could cost us in the area of 3-4,000$

I discovered that toyota has had issues with excessive oil consumption in certain model years. i have a 2007 toyota camry xle which was listed as one of the vehicles. this is my 4th toyota of which i have put on over 1 million miles between these vehicles. now with this 2007 which now has 211,000 mi. i find i am having to add oil every 1000 mi. or the oil light comes on. i change the oil every 3000 mi. toyota told me nothing can be done because the extended warranty that was given expired in oct. 2016. i bought the vehicle in july, 2015 with 146,000 mi. on it. i understand that a letter was sent out in may, 2015 regarding this matter. that apparently went to the previous owner or the dealership. now after 4 toyotas....1 million miles....they say nothing can be done! i don't agree.

Driver side sun visor came down un expectantly and became a driving hazard, it had to be removed thus making driving more un safe. i had to purchase a improved sun visor from the dealer which toyota had corrected the faulty sun visor there fore were aware of the problem, toyota also started a short term voluntary recall however it seemed to be at there discretion who received the repair and who did not, what factors they used to discriminate between customers i do not know. it is my habit to ask the dealer every time i go there for service if there are any recalls or advisories open on my 07 camry, they have always said no! so apparently they lied to me on this issue any way, and i had no other way to find out since they did not disclose it to the public. my car was in motion on a busy city street going around a turn when it came down and temporary blinded me. if a pedestrian had hoped out to cross the street, i would of struct that person!

Made a 90 degree turn to park car, car rapidly accelerated and crashed into a wall within 25 feet of turning causing auto body damage. data recorder report pulled from third party shows last five seconds before impact and recorded within .3 milliseconds rpb went from 400 to 2000 and speed went from 3.7 mph to 9.9 mph. toyota wrote back and said nothing was wrong with car. if you review crash site and distance car turned to the building, it is impossible to accelerate that quickly in that short of distance. vehicle was in motion on a city street turning into a private parking lot.

As soon as i drove this car off the lot, the "tire balance" light came on. the tires were low so i put air in them and the light is still on. the front bumper skirt scrapes on every dip in the road it seems, sounding horrible. then, it got caught on a parking stop which loosened the skirt so it now hangs even lower and scrapes bottom over every crack in the road.

Driver's side front sun visor does not stay in the upright stowed position. it droops down and obstructs visibility while driving.

Had actuator on 2007 camry hybrid replaced at 82,000 miles again at 127,000 miles and needs to be replaced again at 154,000 miles and toyota will not assist with the $1600.00 the dealer wants to replaced the same defective part from the factory.

Driver side visor flaps down to forehead level when stationary. flaps down pointing down when in motion going over bump. visor does not stay tucked in its stow away position. caused injury to right temple getting into the car. caused forehead injury at a sudden stop. dealt we refused to replace or repair. toyota claims the the recall ended in 2018 so the part is not eligible for replacement.

Excessive oil consumption issue. toyota will now offer any coverage or warranty. issue just started showing itself this past fall and once i learned of the technical service bulletin, toyota said it was past their 10/31/16 date and the fact that the care was past the 10 year pis date (by 4 days). they now say this is a wear and tear issue. there is something wrong here with this many problems for many, many camry owners and no type of recall was ever issued. very frustrating and very disappointing in toyota. have had no other issues with this car or with toyota in my 10 years of ownership. will now never purchase another toyota again.

Oil consumption. i had the oil changed at the dealership in may when i started noticing consumption. i happened to check the oil a couple of weeks later and it wasn't even touching the stick, so i added 2 quarts of oil and took it back to the dealer and asked them if they even changed the oil. they of course said yes and we kept noticing it burning quite a bit of oil. i took it to a my mechanic and he immediately knew toyota had a recall on this model burning oil and advised us to take it to the dealership to conduct their test. we did the test which was drive it 1200 miles and bring it back and of course they said it only burnt a little over a half of a quart. i have been putting oil in this car most of the summer sometimes less than 1200 miles well over a quart. i have read several blogs and see where toyota has been sued over this issue. i just want my car fixed. thank you *tr

My car has been driving normally. i keep up with maintenance. i turned on the car and started driving like normal. no lights were on. as i got on the highway the airbag light turned on. it has not turned off since.

Transmission fails after driving in reverse. gears can be changed with the lever but transmission doesn't engage the gears. check engine light is off and no other indicators are present.

The tire pressure sensor is always on, especially when the temperature drops. after having tire pressure checked things are usually ok for a day or two and then they are back to pressure sensor illuminating. this is a very common and known problem with toyota and lexus. this has been happening since 2010 when the vehicle was as purchased.

There is a noise from something loose that i had checked out a couple times with no success. it comes from the back end of car near truck area and sounds like a loose muffler or a knocking/vibrating manifold when driving over bumps or a rough surface. the noise wasn’t as noticeable when i got it in 2010, but has become more noticeable over the years. the maintenance and car is well cared for.

At less than 80,000 miles the abs system failed. warranty would not cover it. we replaced the unit, but last week the vsc warning lit up again. the abs system has failed again. the vehicle now was 122,226 miles.

My 2007 toyota camry burns a lot of oil. if i was to drive from s.c. to n.y.c. after driving 600 miles my crank case is empty i would have to add five quarts of of to continue on my journey. in between oil changes i would drive 1200 miles and burn 2 and a half quarts of oil.

The air bag light stay on when driving

Car no longer goes in eco mode. when drive car it will completely shut off. when backing up and sometimes going forward the wheels vibrate and don't move like they are locked.

While driving across nebraska (possibly just inside wyoming) heading to colorado on sun june 29th, on i-80 (very long, 80mph speed-limit highway), my camry with 215,000 miles suddenly gave a 'check hybrid engine' code, which caused the gas-pedal to be unresponsive. the check engine symbol also came on. the electronic 'trip information' data-graphic showed my hybrid battery was down to one pink-line suggesting low-power in the hybrid battery. i was able to pull over smoothly. over the course of two hours waiting for a tow-truck that never arrived, i turned the vehicle on/off a few times to verify the on-board gps for our location (all electrical systems within the vehicle still worked). at around the two hour waiting-mark, when i turned the vehicle back on, the 'check hybrid engine' alert and the check-engine symbol both disappeared, & i was able to safely drive the vehicle the additional 50+ miles to my final destination in fort collins colorado. i took it to a dealership in colorado & two codes were registered: poaof-204 - engine failed to start (?? the vehicle always 'started' so i'm not clear about this code) and p3190 - poor engine power. even though i was able to limp the vehicle around fort collins, the hybrid battery would only get up to three charge lines (blue), which isn't even half-charged, before trickling back down to the two or even one pink-line. the vehicle is currently in-transit on a carrier truck to my home back in buffalo, ny. the vehicle's always been reliable to this point, and i have had it since approximately 23,000 miles (when i took it over from my father). i am concerned that this problem is the same problem affecting certain prius models (2011-2015) where the gas engine no longer communicates/charges the hybrid engine. the vehicle passed nys inspection with an oil change in june 2020. thank you for your time.

The driver side sun visor will not stay up. this part was recalled, but when i tried to get it replaced because i'd already paid to have the passenger side replaced, service folks said it wasn't defective (and it wasn't at the time). then around 2016 the visor started not going to the roof and would hang down slightly. over the course f the next two years it got to where it was blocking my view. toyota said the recall had expired so i had to remove the visor. now i have trouble if i'm driving into the sun. frustrating part is that had they done it when i asked originally i wouldn't be in this circumstance. *tr

I adjusted the steering column while at a stop light. when i locked everything in place, the airbag light lit up. all of the controls on the steering wheel do not work. i can't use the horn; turn the radio on or make hands free calls. i took it to toyota and they said it was the wiring harness for the airbag and it was an expensive repair. i've left it alone for 5 years. i figure with the takata air bag issue i might be better off. *tr

The abs sensor/module has gone out again. i spent several thousands in repairs and diagnostics years ago for the same issue. now it has gone crazy again. the dash has been replaced due to being sticky. the car itself burns oil, we are constantly checking and adding to it. it seems several have had these issues and toyota should be fixing them. *tr

I just bought this toyota camry and didn't realize until after that the dashboard is very sticky and gets really shiney as the temperature rises. this causes a glare on the windshield. after researching i found out that toyota issued a extended warranty. however they said that it expired on 5/31/17 and they cant do anything. this is a safety issue and i believe that it should be recalled and they should replace the dashboard. the car only has 68370 miles and has a long life. i do feel that my life is in danger with this known problem that they don't want to fix. please help!!!!! this issue is all of the time. *tr

I was driving on the high way coming from the airport giving a ride to a family member after about 7 minutes from the time i started driving, the car showed engine sign and in less that 5 minutes the car suddenly stopped. i have tried to pull it to a safe place as much as possible, then it started showing smoke in the hood.

The abs actuator went bad while driving on a city stree, the brake pedal became hard and the car didn’t stopped, almost hitting oncoming traffic, very hazardous situation.

The plastic panel that holds the airbag on the driver's side (between the windshield and the door) is expanded and bent. i am very concerned that something is wrong with the airbag or if the airbag is expanding inside the plastic panel and therefore is defective. please look into this issue as soon as possible since camry was not part of the airbag recall as many other toyota models.

My 2007 toyota camry dashboard is very sticky and seems to be melting. with the slightest tap to it, pieces of the rubber on the dashboard will break off. i have done some research and apparently there was a recall on the car because of the dashboards during the time i purchased it but being that i was not the owner in toyota's log i was not notified. i have contacted toyota via telephone and gotten no results and i have went to a toyota lot and still haven't got any results. any and everything is able to stick to the dashboards putting it at risk of becoming home for microorganisms and possibly causing respiratory issues for me. i am not able to disinfect the dashboard because everything sticks to it. in the past i would no doubt recommend toyota to everyone due to the fact that my family has been a long time supporter of toyota but currently i would not recommend them because they refuse to fix something that is a manufacturers issue.

In 2015 i noticed i was burning through oil too fast, so i took my 2007 toyota camry to the toyota dealership. they said it could be the piston rings (a known problem, but not covered), and they couldn't do anything about it. fast forward to january 2020, and i'm burning through 2.5 quarts every fill-up. the check engine light came on and 'cylinder 3 misfire' was detected along with a bad spark plug. i had to spend around $400 to fix a coil and spark plug because the 3rd cylinder had expanded and was spilling over. 3 weeks later, the same thing happened with me adding 1 quart of oil every 1/2 tank. i was told this would cost upwards of $2,000-$3,000 to fix. i've seen this is a known problem, especially with the 2007 toyota camry, and this might be due to bad piston rings. i was forced to get a new car this weekend because of this.

The sun visors are the right and left of the car were defective and replaced and the new visors are also defective and do not maintian their postiion as they fall down and block the drivers view making a very serious hazaed and preventive visibility to drive the car. we contacted the dealer called toyota of orange and they say they know the replacements are defective but there is no recall on the replacments.

Burns too much oil. friends with camrys and scions both have complained about same issue. i barely make it to 2000 mile mark and have to add oil. even different dealerships have told me that these engines are known to burn through too much oil. if they know this and it’s a problem for many then it should be fixed.

My camry passed the oil consumption test in march 2015 at rick hendrick toyota, sandy springs georgia. i informed the technician that it should of failed because i was adding oil between maintenance visits. in december 2019 my car is burning oil faster than ever. the dealership (rick hendrick toyota in sandy springs georgia ) administered another oil consumption test. i am still doing the test. however, the manager told me the recall has expired and i am responsible for any repairs or engine replacement. i am the first and only owner of this vehicle, it has 145,000 miles. i should not be responsible for the manufacturers defect and possible oversight of toyota certified technicians.

Ongoing issue the car burns oil like crazy. i have to add oil before my next oil change is scheduled (every 3000 miles). there is black soot buildup in the gas tank door around the cap. it has been like this awhile, just never thought anything of it until i met a fellow camry owner who's 2009 camry was recalled for the exact same issue but mine does not have the recall. the black soot has been there basically from the very beginning (2007), it started noticeably burning oil at about 130000 miles, the car is now at about 163000

Back seat driver side seat belt is stuck in locked position. it will not come unbuckled so basically have no seat belt for that seat

3 different concerns issue #1: while in motion the abs and brake light come on, speedometer goes to 0, other gauges go crazy. happens off and on throughout the day while driving. took it to a mechanic, they said it is the abs module going out, to fix it with a brand new part would be $1800. not only is it dangerous to not be able to see my speed, its a possibility my abs wouldn't kick in if needed. regular brakes work fine.

I was driving at about 25mph on montgomery drive in philadelphia (city street) in the morning of 12/9/2019. it was raining lightly. the car in front of me was about 4 to 5 car-lengths ahead. it braked as another car tried to cut in, and i also immediately braked. my brake felt grinding and my car continued to slide into the back of the car in front of me.

While driving my 2007 camry on a town highway, i smelled something burning. smoke started to fill the cabin, and i saw a glowing flame where the seat warmer button is, on the console. immediately, i turned off the seat warmer button. i looked for a place to pullover, heard a loud popping sound, saw a larger flame and black smoke filled the car. i pulled over to a shell station, called 911, and a man with fire extinguisher sprayed the now considerable fire burning . the battery was disconnected after the fire was out, and the damage to the car is not repairable. a tow car brought it home. the fire was electrical when it started and then escalated quickly. . my question is why did the fuse not blow to prevent the fire? thank god i was in a town near a service station and not alone on an isolated road. the fire grew very quickly. this just happened this evening on 11/19/19. it was a definite safety issue, and it was pretty frightening how quickly the fire escalated. i am going to contact toyota about this malfunction as well. the case # by the st. james parish sherifff's office is sjp19002613. i called 911 and 4 police cars and fire truck were deployed and came to the scene.

I was in a car accident were i was hit from the back pushed in to another vehicle we're my car was totaled yet my airbags did not come out. not on sides or front. i was at a complete stop at a stoplight behind for other cars then a car came out of nowhere full speed at least 30 40 miles an hour in my estimation however hit me hard enough to push me into the car in front of me. i was on the feeder road directly off of the highway got a complete stop.

My dashboard has a sticky film and when sunlight is present it's hazardous to see. this has been an ongoing concern with toyota cars between 2007-2009. i contacted toyota for general information for replacement on 26 oct 19. according to a toyota rep on 1 nov 19, recall notices were sent to registered owners by reaching out through their local mva in the state of maryland. all vehicles i ever owned were always registered but i never received a correspondence from the toyota. now the recall has expired and i'm responsible should i want to make the repair and no other resolutions. this what i received from toyota after being a loyal customer.

Driving on street approaching an intersection where i was turning left and had a green light when the abs/esc lights on the dash turned on and brakes stopped working. this caused me to roll through the intersection and almost cause an accident. had to stop by rolling into curb. found the brakes do work somewhat now but are dangerously weak.

I have a 2007 toyota camry with 104,000 (+/-) miles and have noticed it’s consuming a lot of oil an i have had to keep adding oil to the engine. i brought it to the dealer (atlantic toyota in lynn, ma) where they’ve confirmed that it needs new piston rings which is causing the oil to be consumed at such a a great rate. i’ve done some research and have identified that this is a problem that toyota is aware of and in the past has offered fixes (replacing the pistons, etc). i believe they called it a warranty enhancement program back in 2015-2016. i was not offered to have my vehicle repaired under this warranty effort.

2007 toyota camry hybrid brake actuator failure. toyota enhanced warranty extended the manufacturing defect for both time and mileage. the time frame has expired but the mileage allotment was not even close to end (only 103,000 miles on car). this defect should have been a recall since this is a common issue to numerous toyota camry's. they issued the enhanced warranty to reduce the financial burden of a recall and limit the number of complaints by only assisting owners who experienced this brake failure during their time frame. i am a senior who only drives the car to the grocery store. when returning from shopping, all the brake and anti skid lights lit up and we took the car straight home. we then took car to dealership the next day. i am being penalized because i am a senior who does not use their car excessively. the enhanced warranty time frame has expired, but the mileage allotment was not even close. this is a manufacturing defect and the car should have been recalled years ago.

I have toyota camry 2007 and i live in north texas. i wanted to clean my dashboard once in summer and i saw that it's coming off and it's sticky and i could see my fingernail prints on the dashboard and even while driving it easily gets dented by my nails. bugs and dust get attached to it, and there is no way for me to remove them which is a health hazard. also, its reflect on the wind shield specially in sunny days, which is almost everyday in texas, blocks my eye sight and i hardly can see passengers or traffic signs which is really dangerous. after some readings i found that it's a common problem and there was a recall that i missed. i emailed toyota and filed a complaint, but i got disregarded. i called and you told me that the warranty of your car has been expired which was may 2017. i bought the car in october 2016 and by may 2017 there was no summer or hot weather. i never got any email or notice from toyota about this issue. toyota told me you must pay for that by yourself. i am just a student and cannot either afford replacing the dashboard or changing my car. it's been almost a year since i have been struggling with this issue and i could not find a real solution for my melting dashboard. the maker should stand behind their products with such issues.

My wife was driving to work the check engine light, vsc light and abs lights appeared on the dashboard. then the brakes were really mushy and it took a lot of force to stop the car. she pulled over and turned the car off. when she restarted the car the lights were still on. she was able to slowly drive back home.

The brake lights systems and abs lights comes out as i start the car and all gauges stop working, the ac don't work when this happens. i can't tell how fast im going because the speedometer gauge failed to provide the correct reading, the abs control module and emergency warning indicator illuminates on the screen. this happens while i am driving, it does ramdonly and now is more frecuently.

Excessive glare on windshield limiting visibility while driving. from news reports as seen on local nbc-tv affiliate (july 31,2019) toyota admitted that melting dashboards contributed to this safety concern/ windshield glare effect. the melting dashboard had been reported to toyota (a few months ago for the second time - originally reported in 2014 and toyota indicated they will review). the second notification resulted in the response that toyota was not aware of the issue. issue has been getting worse over the past few years.

My safety issue is the melting rubber dashboard issue becoming sticky, shiny and reflecting a glare reducing and blinding my visibility when driving. i purchased in 2016 a used toyota camry le from a used car dealership. in summer 2018 i noticed the dashboard was tacky to the touch. i asked at a car supplies and parts store if they knew what caused this but no one could help me. i asked carmax one time about this and told it must me something i put on the car which i had not. then this summer 2019 the dashboard became so sticky and shiny with melting rubber and glare so blinding it reduces my view of the road and now is very dangerous to drive in any bright sunshine or oncoming car headlights. on 10-13-2019 while driving i turned a curve on a busy road and was completely blinded by glare and narrowly missed hitting an oncoming car. i keep a clean car and all glass so this is not a buildup on the glass. on 10-14-2019 i began online research and found there had indeed been a problem so i went directly to toyota customer care and emailed this problem and requested assistance. i then spoke with a customer care person that advised me there was a special extended warranty program but that program had expired august 2017 and there was nothing they would do. i expressly inquired how could they know they have a dangerous situation in cars and offer no assistance. they said they went to each states dmv to get address of toyota owners of affected cars and mailed them. i explained i bought this car in 2016 and what do they offer to make my car safe. i got only apologies. this is evidently a known and long term safety problem with toyota cars and is at a dangerous level for many owners of used toyota's with no corrective steps available.

Abs brake system failure while driving. loss of brakes, power steering, engine power while on a busy street approaching an intersection

Sun visor (passenger side) has rotated slowly downward blocking my view of the road. apparently the spring tension mechanism failed causing the visor to hang downward obstructing my view of the road. note: the sun visor and sun visor bracket was previously involved in a toyota warranty enhancement notice involving this same vehicle.

Moving at 70 mph, battery light started to flicker. then 2 loud bangs, like rocks hitting windshield, speedometer wildly fluctuating, check vsc sys light on instrument cluster briefly lit. no loss of power or control. battery lite now off. continued on 3 minutes later repeat, bam bam, check vsc sys, now with red triangle warning, abs light, security, passenger air bag & skid lines flashed on. no problems on return trip, although i was traveling at around 50 mph. i should add that i had problem with battery in jan 2019. replaced battery and positive cable. battery light kept coming on, replaced alternator. problem with intermittent battery light reoccurred. mechanic cleaned off positive pole, and problem was solved until today.

We purchased a 2007 toyota camry and after three months of owning it we now need a new engine. my husband was driving the car on the highway and without warning the engine started making a funny noise and smoking. he had to stop on the highway in a turning lane at night. i am so upset that we now have a nonworking vehicle that we still owe money on. i have been reading up on this and apparently there are many 2007 models with engine failure. i'm not a detective but something is criminal about this. we work hard to pay for these vehicles....they arnt a toy we play with....we need them to get places safely. if there are so many people having this issue....it must be a manufacturer flaw. they should have to make it right.

The dashboard on my camry is melting causing a sticky residue. my safety concern is while driving the car, sun causes a glare on to the windshield preventing me from seeing any on coming traffic, or objects. without clear visibility driving this car has caused me several near head on collisions with ongoing traffic. driving this car i purchased scares me that this is issue will cause me an accident which could take my life or someone else on road i may hit. toyota was aware of the dash issue years prior but only fixed some of this defected dashes by creating a warranty enhancement. if the problem was present or known it was replaceable with in their window of time, they will not make their defected dash correct. i realize over time all components of a car have wear and tear. this is not that issue at all. this is a issue of a dash being used that has a chemical while in sun melts. there was two prior class action lawsuits and to prevent a recall and notifying all owners of this defect and correcting it for the safety of drivers in their product but also drivers in other autos which are now at danger if this viability causes a camry driver to collide with their auto. this defect effects all drivers on the highway not just the toyota drivers. i have been to and called toyota several times pertaining to this issue and my fear of driving. i have simply been able to get no recourse for this defect. i am very aware of the cost to fix this defect however i feel the cost of every life replacing this dash saves is worth well more than the cost to replace the defected dash. i plead for you to investigate a huge problem & the trap involved with the warranty enhancement toyota implemented versus recalling the dashboards, getting them off the road to make highway driving safer for non toyota owners simply driving & owners which could potentially pay with their life. thanks

The dash melts in the heat causing it to become very shiny causing huge areas when the sun shines to reflect onto the windshield. this glare is so bad it’s almost impossible to see anything in front of the car other than the reflection of the dash

Driving down the highway or neighborhoods the speedometer would go to 0 indicating that the speed of the car was unknown. not knowing what speed you are driving allows for excessive speed and could easily cause an accident or get stopped for speeding. the abs module is the cause of the failure

I bought my 2007 camry in 2006 and it has been great till the last 6 months when the dash board started to get sticky and is now fully sticky and glossy to the point where the sun reflects off it and is blinding. toyota said they had a recall which i was never notified. the address when i bought my car is the same in my driver's license and i never changed it. i live in buena park since 1991 and my drivers license has that address since i was 18 (18 years ago). i called toyota and they said the recall needed and its. ot their concern. i find it irresponsible that toyota takes no action for faulty manufacturing of their products and shifts the fault to the consumer when i had no idea there was any issues. secondly when they had the gas pedal recall i took my car in for maintenance and when i got it back they cut the pedal without my knowledge and said a replacement was on back order. i have since 2010 requested the replacement till 2011 and they always said it in back order. i gave up asking because i got excuses. when i'm driving my foot slips off the gas pedal because its shorter. its hazardous when your making a turn and the car loses acceleration and you have to quickly hit the gas again. this is dangerous when the road is slippery in a front wheel drive. i have contacted toyota with these concerns and all they say is that there isnt anything they can do.

Excessive oil consumption. takes about 1-2 quarts every 1000 miles, otherwise i run out of oil and it starts to smell like oil when i drive or when car is running. i was headed on a trip today when my car started to drive a little funny and it started to smell like oil again. i was able to pull off to the side of the road and check it and i was low on oil. i put more oil in the car and headed back on my trip. i had the cruise control set and all of a sudden the cruise kicked off and jolted the car while i was driving 70mph. after that it was hard to get my car to shift above the 3rd rpm. car still has less than 150,000 on it. this problem has been going on for a few thousand miles. it has no oil leaks. there are no lights that go off, has had regular and scheduled maintenance with records.

The condensation on my headlights are horrible. i have had them cleaned numerous times but it keeps coming back. also, my headlights on low beam are ineffective and i cannot see anything when i'm driving at night. i have to use my high beam to get any kind of lighting to see where i'm going at night

I have continuously had issues with my cars ignition coils and vsc system. the check engine light and vsc system light is always on and even though i've spent thousands of od dollars on repairs the light continues to pop up even with regular maintenance and multiple repairs. my car misfires and turns off randomly this is very dangerous to drive but i have no other means of transportation. the car misfires in idle,while driving at low and high speeds and it wont turn on sometimes until i connect jumper cables to the battery. when i connect the jumper cables i never need an extra source of power i simply connect one end of the cables to the battery and a few seconds later it all the lights turn on again and the car restarts the whole system.

"takata recall" while driving my 2007 camry i've always noticed that my dashboard was extremely sticky and seemed to be melting. my wife noticed and said it wasn't normal she google it and said that it was a recall on the dashboards being defected. i'm trying to find out what step do i need to take in rectifying this issue.

In 2013, i suspected there was an issue with oil consumption & asked the mb service center to begin investigating the issue. at that time, the warranty that came with the car was still active. i returned after driving 1,000-1,200 miles & was told that they were not able to ascertain whether there was a true issue and that it would cost me $800 to open the engine. i left the dealership. in early 2016, i received the t-sb-0158-14 service bulletin from toyota notifying me that i could take the car in to have this exact issue resolved at no cost. i took the car in to the culver city location, but i returned 3 hours later to find that no work had been done. a member of the service team advised that there was an oil leak that needed to be repaired before they could begin the consumption test. this is my first issue with toyota’s service. toyota shifted the responsibility to have this oil leak fixed on to me even though i made them aware of an oil related issue more than 2 years prior. a knowledgeable service center member would have known that defective pistons and rings is a directly related cause of a leak. being that i was not a knowledgeable consumer at that time, the service center was able to shift this responsibility on to me. i had the oil leak repaired and attempted to have this issue addressed a 3rd time when i called to schedule a service appointment in november 2016. the person who answered the phone asked what the reason was for my visit. i explained that i wanted to come back to initiate the oil consumption test and was advised that i had just missed the cut off and that they were not repairing any more vehicles after october 31, 2016. this is my second issue with culver city toyota’s service. there was secondary coverage available for me at that time and i was not made aware of that option. my car would have been eligible for repairs on all three occasions

Toyota dealership performed their "warranty enhancement" test on my car in 2016 to see if it qualified for their known oil consumption coverage and repair. it did not see their criteria. now my car is consuming 1 quart of oil nearly every 1000 miles and they will not cover the problem.

Abs control module needs replacing. brake and abs light come on,no a/c and speedometer goes to 0. brake lights don’t work during episodes which could cause you to get rear ended. these episodes occur while idling and driving.

Dashboard is extremely sticky and reflective when the sun hits it causing little to no visibility while driving

Toyota has admitted on 2011 in its technical service bulletin that the engine defect in my 2007 toyota camry exhibits excessive oil consumption due to the design defect of the 2az-fe engine. it requires a piston assembly change to minimize oil consumption however the toyota dealership refuses to repair it at their own cost, this is a very significant repair costing thousands of dollars to fix. they notified me that they will not cover repairs to the engine due to an arbitrary 150,000 mile limit and a very limited time window between 2015 to 2016, after i had already spent money on repairs. this also diminshes the value of my car and more importantly exposes our family to significant safety issues. the engine continues to lose oil, and the engine becomes completely depleted of oil at the time of an oil change (every 3,000 miles) which can lead to engine failure in a moving vehicle and potential injury and loss of life. this is a very serious defect and toyota refuses to fix.

The dashboard of my camry is melting and giving off fumes that we can smell and could be hazardous to our health. we have developed a coughs since this happened. the fumes are coating the inside of our windshield and makes it difficult to see. i have contacted toyota usa and toyota japan and they refuse to do anything about it.the vehicle was in motion when we had difficulty seeing through the windshield.

Ii have a 2007 camry that has a defective sun visor as it now hangs and obstructs my visibility. this is a safety hazard and i would expect toyota to honor it and fix it without charge to the consumer.

Takata recall..my 2007 toyota camry has developed a shiny sticky coat over several months which covers the entire dash. the shininess obstructs driving visibility and i have found nothing on the market to clean this area. the car originally came from florida and was garage kept when i purchased. seems like some sort of manufacturer defect.

The engine burns 1.5 quarts of oil every 1000 miles. toyota told me that the tsb expired at the end of 2016 and were unwilling to pay for any repairs.

I had the driver's side sun visor replaced at my own expense because ithe visor was rotating downward and detaching from the ceiling blocking my vision while driving. a little while later i received a "warranty enhancement notice" from toyota about this visor problem. i still had the repair receipt so i mailed it to toyota and they reimbursed me. now it is broken again. it completely falls down with no support what-so-ever and detaches from the ceiling frequently. i have a string with a clothes pin to hold it partially up but my vision is still blocked some and the clothes pin doesn't hold it very long. this should not happen. i have not abused this visor in anyway. i still have the paperwork for the repair and the warranty enhancement notice letter. there is no number on this letter but at the bottom in tiny letters is ztt camry n5e086-00000803-104 if this is any help. i live in a different state now but don't know if this makes any difference.

Abs, speedometer, tachometer, rpm and a/c jumps on and off all over the place. i took it to a toyota dealer, could not find what was the problem but they assumed it may be the abs module or some other modules may not be talking to each other. i have researched on line toyota camry forums and and found they are lots of toyota camry owners with the same issues. this is a very safety issue because im not able to see at the speed my car is going when driving it because tachometer gauges among the others gauges working intermittent (on and off) i request for toyota to place a recall for all toyota camry having this mayor safety electronics problems. i would not mind paying for repair if toyota dealer knew what the problem was but they don't know and if the repair did not exceed ocer thousands of dollars for something that the manufacture has failed to addressed and fix. thank you.

Melting, sticky and shiny dashboard. the shiny dashboard creates a glare on the windshield making a poor visibility. the unsafe and faulty dashboard is preventing a good visibility day or night. i contacted the dealer and they stated that the warranty was for 10 years only. i also contacted toyota and also stated that the warranty was expired and they could not help me with the problem. the car continues to be in service until i find a solution. the dealer said that it was a very expensive faulty repair.

My 07 camry 2.4l ce, has an excessive oil consumption. i have to fill oil in the engine every 1000-1500 miles with 1-2qt.

When you press the push start button to start the car when it is parked, it usually takes 5-6 tries before it turns on in the morning when leaving for work. the light will stay red and won't turn green. i get a message that says check vcs systems. it happens when i leave the car for longer periods. it is not infrequent. it is very time consuming and inconvenient.

The sun visor at driver's side has become detached. it can no longer be held it its position. please see picture attached. toyota had issued a recall on 08/01/2012 (details available at this link: http://media.fixed-ops.com/toy_campaigns/pol12-03.pdf), however, as per toyota, free repair/replacement is only applicable "7 years from the date-of-first-use (regardless of mileage)". i have serviced my toyota at toyota dealership every 5,000 miles from 2012 till date, however, i was neither informed of this recall nor had the item replaced by toyota proactively due to recall issued. hence toyota must not ask me to pay for this repair now.

2007 toyota camry se 2.4l 4 cyl, consumes oil at a staggering rate. due to this increased rate of oil consumption, increased maintenance costs inevitably occur. this oil consumption occurs any time the car's engine is running, occurring even more at high speeds of operation. the car will occasionally lurch when being driven, creating opportunity for an accident to occur in the wrong conditions. before driving for prolonged high speeds, i check the oil level to ensure there is enough to prevent a seized engine. the results of such a problem would be catastrophic at high speeds. these increased maintenance costs as well as the potential dangers caused by the increased oil consumption of my car provide more than ample justification for an official complaint.

Hood open warning light on dashboard and chime activates while driving on surface streets and freeway. i stop to check hood and it is secure. light and alarm will clear and then a few miles later it will go on again. when car is parked and car alarm is activated, the car alarm will start sounding off in the middle of the night, with nobody near the vehicle. i have read that other owners have had these two conditions also, and believe these two conditions are related. it is an annoyance to my neighbors as well as myself, and if driving on the road this could cause an accident if pulling over to check the hood latch to silence alarm and warning light. this has now happened numerous times in the past two months.

Just purchase a 2007 toyota camry le from sterling mccall toyota a few months ago and now just finding out that the car has a oil consumption issue with no indication that the engine had ever had and problems now it's a the engine has possibly blown out or locked because of this issue it will not start. i paid for this vehicle in full in cash from the dealer i'm trying to find out how to get my money back for the vehicle sale price and the other minor repairs that i made to this vehicle. the vehicle could have killed me and my children it just turned off while we were driving home during the day, almost caused a car accident.

The dashboard is made of a plastic that deteriorates over time. the effect is a sticky coating when the dashboard is exposed to warmth. toyota expanded the warranty for 10 years. my car did not exhibit symptoms during that time, or when checked, had not been exposed to heat (the car is garage kept). dashboards should not wear out. toyota was sold a defective material. i do not understand why toyota would not insist that customers are made whole for this (the repair is over $1,200) rather than risk losing loyal (formerlly loyal) customers. my wife and i have owned 5 toyotas since 1980, and currently have two. the shiny dash can be a safety hazard. our 2007 had other serious defects that toyota repaired. we will shop another brand next time.

Car is burning a quart of oil every 1000-1200 miles, took it to the mechanic and he stated in the long run this can cause the engine to knock and or fail. i just had a newborn and am concerned about the safety of my wife and child.

My car is excessively burning oil. i have a 2007 toyota camry le. i have my oil change every 3,00 to 5,000 miles at the toyota dealer. my oil level would go low between oil changes. my husband would constantly check and add oil between oil changes. my husband asked me to ask the toyota dealer to check to see if i had an oil leak. the dealer told me i did not have an oil leak and they did not know why my oil level was going low between oil changes. after my husband did some research, he found out the 2007 toyota camry has a problem with their engines excessively burning oil. toyota and the dealer knew there is an issue with that type of engine burning oil excessively and they did not tell me! who is going to fix this, it's not my fault?!

I purchased a camry from bob (xxxx) in 2007. the car started consuming an excessive amount of oil not long after the toyota enhancement program launched in 2014. i did not get a notice from toyota. bob (xxxx) informed me of the need to run the oil consumption test in july 2015; which we did. i was told the test "passed" even though it was obvious that the car was burning a lot of oil. the oil pressure light kept coming on over & over again. i requested a 2nd test in dec 2015 and i was told again that the car "passed" the oil consumption test. for 3 years i complained to bob (xxxx) about the situation, including the car choking when i try to accelerate or brake; oil pressure light; engine light; having to add oil to my car upon driving it for about 1000 miles or so, etc.. this all happened from 2015-2018. in 2018, bob (xxxx) tried to tell me that my car is leaking oil instead of burning oil. this wasn't an accurate statement. so, i went to a trusted independent mechanic who took a detail look at my car and confirmed that my car is not leaking oil at all. i went back to bob (xxxx) & demanded a 3rd oil consumption test. after much arguing they agreed to it. we did the test and it failed in dec 2018. this confirmed what i knew all along. yet they refused to fix the problem to the point where the service manager wayne (xxxx) refused to take my calls. they tell me the warranty has expired, which is very fitting for them &toyota. i called toyota inc. who also refused to do anything because the warranty expired in 2016. my car is barely at 105,000 miles which is below the toyota extended warranty limit of 150,000 miles or 10 yrs. the fact that i have complained about the issue while it was under warranty & was mislead the whole time did not count for anything. obviously, this oil consumption issue poses a serious threat to the engine & to car owners. repairs are a must. parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

Over time, my dashboard has melted and has become sticky. i have tried my best to deal with it, but it is a safety hazard. it causes a reflection of my dashboard on my driver's window, making it hard to see when i am driving (especially when it is sunny...and i live in los angeles, california...where the majority of the time it is sunny.) i called toyota and they claim to have sent out an extended warranty, but i have never received a notice. they claim they can't fix it anymore because of an expired warranty (which i was never notified of...if i was, i would've fixed it asap). it is dangerous to drive due to their faulty manufacturing.

Horrible low-beam lighting. toyota response is "give me over $1,000 and we will replace fixtures". i have owned many cars in the last 54 years (one for 18 yrs) and never had headlight problems. toyota ought to be embarrassed into at least replacing them at cost. i'm guessing the coating on the lens is defective because nothing else has corrected the problem.

There is an oil consumption issue and toyota is saying it is an extended warranty issue, that has expired and that i am going to have to fix it and pay for it all out of pocket. this should be a recall not a waranty issue. it's not fair or right and they should stand behind their production issues that are flawed. this is a saftey issue because the light doesn't even come on when it is low, so if i don't check often then i am in danger when i am driving. i bought the car to drive, not to become a mechanic.

So in my 2007 toyota camry my windshield that had no chips and was in perfect condition. and parked in a parking lot. i was sitting in my car about to get out when i watched the windshield crack by itself independently nothing hitting it no chips or imperfections to make it crack no sounds nothing it started on the passenger side in a spiderweb fashion and cracked all the way across my windshield and keeps continuing to spiderweb across the entire windshild there was no chips initially nothing hit it no pressure after talking to several professionals they also can not see a reason for the cracked windshield states it looks like it cracked from the center out. i researched and found i'm not the only person this has happened to on this make and model car

I purchased this car brand new from the dealer who registered it and gave me paperwork listing my address on all of the forms. i just recently found out that there was an extended warranty program for the driver side visor defect. i had been having issues with it for a few years but since i rarely drive during the daytime it wasn’t an issue until my shift changed. so now it’s broken and today, years later, toyota tells me that the warranty information was sent to an address other than the one i have lived since i purchased this car. since i didn’t register the car and all of my paperwork had my then and still address on it, i feel that they should honor the warranty because they sent it to an address that wasn’t mine. they will not give me the address but referred me to my state’ dmv, who also will not give me this phantom address where my info was sent. colonial toyota registered the car for me so i have no idea what mistakes were made in the registration process and no way of getting the information. toyota is doing what all big companies do, pass the mistakes they made to the consumer. i will never purchase anything from atoyota dealer ever again.

My 2007 toyota camry has been blowing blue smoke since i bought the car back in 2014, which i purchased through a dealership. after anytime i start my car after sitting for a couple of hours it will blow blue smoke each time. i get my oil changed way more often then i should to try and prevent the smoke, i check my oil once a week, and no matter what i do it continues to blow blue smoke.

Car accelarted without stepping on gas pedal on its own in a parking lot, took repetitive and forceful pressure on the brake to control car from continuing into a wall. mechanic (not dealer) tested and problem didn't appear. when driving car into home home parking spot, backing up to position place, the car accelerated on it own again and stopped only with forceful brake pressure.

The dashboard has recently started "melting" and has become sticky and shiny, creating a very distracting glare while driving in the sunlight that obstructs my visibility. although toyota had extended the warranty previously for this problem, i was not having this issue at the time the warranty was offered. when i called them up asking them to replace their defective dashboard, i was told my vehicle was "too old" to qualify and that i would have to pay hundreds (perhaps thousands?!) of dollars out of pocket to fix their own safety hazard. safety hazards caused by toyota's own negligence should not be the customer's financial responsibility to fix!

Was doing a 3000 mile oil change 3/29/2018 and only 1.5 quarts came out. called the dealer who said its out of warranty, cant do anything for us. we bought this car used from them may 2017, they didn't tell us about the tsb. all oil changes have been normal until last week. crooks!

Used nearly 4 qrts of oil in less then 3,000 miles causing check oil light to come on. added 4 qrts. just bought car from west herr toyota. dealer did a oil consumption test and claimed car used 1.2 qrts in 1100 miles and said its normal. they topped off oil and engine is down nearly 2 qrts after driving 800 miles. dealer lieing about how bad it is. taking car back to show them .

My wife was run off the road going about 55mph. she centered the front of her car into a telephone pole. the airbags didn’t deploy. car was totaled.

Toyota needs to be held responsible 4 the unexpected acceleration of these vehicles. make them test it under 32 degrees and the rpms will almost always increase and decrease abruptly though giving gas at a steady pace. it's happened every year every winter since i bought the car new. the pedal fix/recall was a slap in the face to those of us who suspect it is an engine or electrical issue. it must be tested in cold cold weather and upon the car just starting to run. it does seem to subside as the engine warms but on the next cold day the car tries to accelerate itself again

While driving to work my car started doing 50 mph without my foot on any pedal. i had to ride the brake to keep it within the speed limit of 20 in the school zone and then 35 on the road. when i arrived at a red light the car tried to move forward even with the brake pressed all the way down. i put the car in neutral and the engine started revving. i turned the car off and back on and still had the same revving and pulling. i pulled off the road and put it in park and the car kept revving. i turned it off and kept it off for several minutes, when i turned it back on i still had the same issue. i carefully drove the car back home (about a mile total trip) riding the brake the whole time to keep the car from getting away from me. no mat was near the pedals, i tried moving to a lower gear, i made sure all cruise controls were off, nothing helped. it was the most terrifying experience i have ever had while driving!

Dashboard is sticky and cracked in multiple places much like that on the sienna when it had a problem. it is our son's car that we drove for the first time in a while so we do not know the date the problem started.

2007 toyota camry's were installed with a sun visor that was later recalled due to a defect in the inner plastic body. ... making the arm unable to hold the visor in place effectively, obstructing the view of the driver. i went to toyota who said that the recall is expired and i would have to pay full price. i never received information regarding the recall.

After the car engine odometer hit 70.000 the car started to burn oil more than normal. i took the car for an oil change and the car had very little oil. since then i had to add 3 quarts of oil in between oil change at 78.000 and 2 quarts of oil in between oil change at 83.000 miles.

I am complaining about my 2007 toyota camry se car. this car has a dashboard problem that can cause severe accidents. its dashboard is becoming sticky, smelly and shiny as a mirror. the problem has been developing for years and it is getting worse. when i call a toyota dealer about 3-4 years ago to ask whether there was a recall or other solution to this problem, i was told there was no recall and they could do nothing. this year, the problem is becoming severe since the shiny dashboard often blinds my eyes and i almost hit a walker. i googled this problem and found tons of similar complains and some lucky costumers got free replacement. so, i called the same dealer again asking about the policy. i was told that there was a recall several years ago, but it expired two years ago, so they could do nothing. this answer is ridiculous considering i called them before. i then call the headquarter. the operator told me that it was not a recall, but an extended 10-year warrantee. since my car has been more than ten years, toyota will not be responsible for the dashboard unless i have written evidence that i contacted toyota before about the dashboard. my complains are as follows: (1)this dashboard problem should be a recall since it can cause dangerous accidents. as mentioned, the specular reflection from the shiny dashboard can blind the drivers and make the driving very dangerous. toyota must have known this problem a long time ago and should notice all costumers to change the dashboard for free, instead of finding excuses to reject most unlucky customers. toyota should be responsible and care about its customers’ lives. (2)toyota shouldn’t put the burden of providing evidence only on costumers. the request of written evidence that i contacted the dealer before is ridiculous. the fact that the dealer failed to provide me a right suggestion/solution becomes my fault.

Takata recall. my 2007 camry le is burning about 1qt/600 oil. the vehicle was in a parking lot when i checked it. toyota admits this oil consumption issue as a manufacturing defect and still not issuing a recall. i have to add oil regularly between oil changes so that my car doesn't get stranded in the middle of the highway.

I had just slowly turned right into a parking spot in a public parking garage and was coasting to the end of the spot when my car suddenly started to accelerate on its own. i hit the brake, but there was not enough time to stop the car before it crashed into a large concrete pillar at the end of the parking spot. there was extensive damage to the front bumper, grill and hood of the car. i immediately checked, but there weren't any objects around the accelerator pedal and the floor mats were in place. toyota sent an inspector. the edr report is attached. toyota said there were no problems with the brake or accelerator. they would not however answer my questions about the edr data, and specifically how, if the car was not accelerating on its own, i could have been depressing the accelerator pedal, and while the accelerator remained depressed, simultaneously depressed the brake pedal as the edr data showed. note that my car was up-to-date with all recalls when the incident happened.

The dashboard in my camry is tacky and sticky. i have the service bulletin but they are telling me it is expired. it is really a bad issue. toyota has made billions from selling cars in america alone and they allowed defective materials to used in the construction of their cars and that is not fair to the consumer. this should be a total recall in place of a service bulletin. this could be a safety hazard should someone come in contact with this defective material in a crash.

Takata recall sticky dashboard, can't see with a bad glare

Instrument panel failure....while driving brake and abs lights cut on and speedometer tachometer temperature gauge gas guage and odometer quit working. the ac also blows hot air and car shakes when stopping occasionally.this has been happening for months and started around 170000 miles. dealer wants to charge thousands of dollars to find problem. that's half of the value of the car. it's not worth that much money to fix. toyota needs to do a recall for this. it is a major safety concern

Dash board is extremely sticky. it can not be cleaned or touched with out sticking to it or gouging out a chunk of it. even in the cold weather it is impossible to clean.

The dashboard glare and sticky falling apart condition is obviously an issue. we were never informed that toyota was replacing these dashboards. i have a 2007 camry with only 80,000 miles on it and want to have the dashboard replaced. obviously they know it was dangerously shiny and sticky as they replace them for 10 years. the national toyota people told me it was too late for them to help me even though they know it’s an issue! what if anything can i do?

Takata recall sun visors falling down

The break light and abs light come one and all gauges stop working and just start jumping around. the ac doesn't work when this happens. this happens while idol and while driving. if driving, i can't tell how fast i'm going because the gauges stop working. this happens at random times then goes back to normal but seems to be happening more frequently.

Oil light was flashing, so i took to my mechanic. he said the oil had used 3qts in less than a month (last oil change) and that the coolant was bone dry. it turns out its a head gasket/engine issue. he let me know he had multiple 2007 camrys with this issue, and that the dealership has an open 'campaign'? or recall. i have left a message for the local toyota dealership
