Brief Description of Defect
Mfg. Campaign No. 93C32 – CNG Cylinder. DOM: 10/91-6/93. Two-wheel drive pickup trucks altered by PAS, Inc., to run on compressed natural gas have CNG fuel cylinders that can develop stress corrosion cracking of the E-glass wrapping. This stress corrosion cracking can lead to tank ruptures. If cylinder ruptures, people in or near the vehicle may get hurt. Correct by exchanging these vehicles with comparably equipped, 1994 gasoline half- or three-quarter-ton General Motors pickup. General Motors will buy back the vehicle from owners who don’t want to exchange their natural gas vehicles. Warning: All trucks should be removed from service and the engine run until the fuel gauge reads below one-quarter.

Brief Description of Defect
Mfg. Campaign No. 06102 – Airbag. DOM: 9/03-9/05. Vehicles originally built with cloth seats and automatic airbag passenger sensing system were later re-upholstered with aftermarket leather seat cover kits. Testing has indicated aftermarket leather seat covers can cause passenger sensing system to malfunction. If passenger sensing system malfunctions, front airbag on passenger side may be disabled when it should be enabled, or enabled when it should be disabled. In either case, in crash that requires airbag deployment, front passenger’s level of injury may be increased. Because replacement leather seat cover that is compatible with passenger sensing system is not available, GM will purchase these vehicles for full price paid for it (not exceeding fair market value at time it was bought), including taxes and fees, if vehicle is returned to GM’s possession by January 31, 2007. Through January 31, 2007, GM will also pay for removal of any aftermarket accessories that may have been installed and return them to customer. If accessories no longer have use or cannot be removed, GM will reimburse purchase price of those accessories. After January 31, 2007, GM will repurchase vehicles for purchase price less a depreciation allowance of $.30 for each mile on vehicle.
